This is guruvulu,
I have a problem in executing ".exe" files.For Example InternetExplorer.Hi,
You can execute .exe files in JAVA using the following code.
Runtime rt1 = Runtime.getRuntime();
Process pc = rt1.exec("someexe.exe");
you can get the output of the executed exe file in
in = pc.getInputStream(); //this returns a InputStream
hope this solves your problem.

Hmmm, I wonder what would happen if there were a web search engine and you could research like this:

How to run exe file using oracles procedure (ASAP) ?
i am finding difficulties in running an exe file using an oracle procedure.I need this for a pure .NET application
I want the solution for both,An Oracle stored procedure cannot generally run an executable on the client machine. Stored procedures run on the server and have no access to your client machine. You could potentially do something convoluted like run a web server on the client with an ASP page that called the executable and have the stored procedure make a UTL_HTTP call to the ASP page, but that's generally not an option.
If the executable is on the server and it's only available as an executable, you could write a Java stored procedure that called out to the command line and invoked the executable (assuming the operating system user running the Oracle database has permission to do so). If the Oracle database is on Windows and you've got 10.2, you may also be able to write a .Net stored procedure that would do the same sort of thing.
If you can expose the functionality as a DLL, a more elegant solution would be to use an external procedure.

Hi all,
any way to create the exe file using JBuilder 3?
if possible how to do that?
how about creating installation file for the application?
thanks alotI think you might need a byte code compiler that converts the .class files to .exe
I believe there are some products out there that do this. I don't think there is a java utility that performs this type of operation. -

How to create the exe files for java application
How to create the exe file for java application?
got any software to do that?
ThanksIn terms of converting java applications into exe files, there are 3 schools of thought:
1) Instead of converting it to an exe, convert it to a jar file. Jar files are more portable than exe files because they can be double-clicked on any operating system. The caveat is that a Java interpreter must be installed on the target computer for the double-clicking to work.
http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/Books/javaprogramming/JAR/
2) Create an exe launcher that, when double-clicked, attempts to find a Java interpreter on the local computer and launches the Java application. The exe file is still double-clickable but whether your java application runs depends on whether a Java interpretor is installed on the target computer.
http://www.sureshotsoftware.com/exej/

http://www.rolemaker.dk/nonRoleMaker/javalauncher/
http://www.jelude.cjb.net/
http://thor.prohosting.com/~dfolly/java/index.html
3) Create an exe launcher that bundles a Java interpretor. Same as above but when the exe file is double-clicked, it searches for a Java interpreter and if one is not found, it installs one on the target computer. The caveat is that the exe file would have an overhead of 10 MB in size for the interpreter.
http://www.excelsior-usa.com/jet.html (evaluation version available)
4) Convert the Java application into a native exe file. The caveat is that if you use Swing for your GUI, it won't be converted. Also this option is still somewhat experimental.
Can't think of any free options right now. -
How to Write in bold to a file using java I/O classes?
Hi,
Using I/O classes I want to prepare a .doc file in which some text will be there. I want that text to be formatted. Like some text I want to be bold. Some text to be italic. How can I write bold/Italic text to the file using java I/O classes.
Thanks
PrashantBy .doc file, I'm assuming you mean an MS Word document, yes? (fyi, Word Perfect also used the .doc extension)
The .doc format is proprietary to Microsoft and isn't documented by them. In order to output a file in .doc format you'd have to understand that format correctly, otherwise MS Word will spit out it's tongue at you, call you names, and maybe send the Microsoft Police to "audit" your PC Software Licensing.
Fortunately for you there is an open source project to demangle the microsoft file formats. See http://jakarta.apache.org/poi/ and especially pay attention to the HDF project (Horrible Document Format).

Hi all !!!
Is it possible to run a *.exe file from java.....
if yes how??
if no why not??
regards
adYes. It's possible. One of the Runtime.exec() methods are probably what you want:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/java/lang/Runtime.html
You can't instantiate a Runtime object, so you'll need to call it up by:
Runtime.getRuntime()
For example, if you want to run the Calculator in Windows, try:
Runtime.getRuntime().exec("calc");
