Calling exportToExcel from bean

Hi,
JDev 11.1.2.3
i need to call exportToExcel from bean
so that when an exportToExcel button is pressed, executeQuery() is envoked as well.
the reason is to fix master-details relation in region failure so i found out the cure is to call vo.executeQuery() afterwards
can i apply the same approach dealing the same way as with ADF showPrintablePageBehavior with action?
( described in topic ADF showPrintablePageBehavior with action

It's worth a try. If this does not work, which is possible as you want to execute the query again, you can use the approach outlined in my blog http://tompeez.wordpress.com/2011/07/14/validate-data-before-export-via-afexportcollectionactionlistener-or-affiledownloadactionlistener/

  • Call stateless session bean EJB 2.0 from Webdynpro Java UI

    Hello,
    Can someone please tell me asto how to call a stateless session bean EJB 2.0 from Webdynpro Java UI?
    The NWDS version is 7.0.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Arya

    Hi Aryadipta
    Please check this pdfs
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/b00917dc-ead4-2910-3ebb-b0a63e49ef10&overridelayout=true
    Steps for calling stateless session bean in Webdynpro java
    Go to NWDS -> open perspective ->j2ee
    select EJB Module Project ->create a project with name
    Open the Project -->RC on ejb-jar.xml -> Select new --> EJB
    Give name to EJB Bean (First letter should be in capital letters)
    select the type of bean as Stateless session bean and give the package name to store that EJB bean.
    After that Expand ejb-jar.xml and then select the <projectEJB>
    Double click on this on method  tab double click you will get business method where we will create the methods for business logic
    Double click on projectEJB and then RC on bean tab and write required business logic in bean window as follows(based on requirement we will design a business logic).
    After writing the business logic go to project -> rebuild
    Till now we have created one EJB jar file
    then go to File-->Enterprise Application Project -->create a project (projectEAR)
    After creating a project click on next-> here we will have ear projects and then we select specific project required for our application.(here select projectEJB)
    After that Calculate EAR project will be available on j2ee explorer.
    Right click on <Bean> here
    select New->Web Service->give a name to webservice and select Default configuration type as simple SOAP
    -->click next -> Finish.
    That webservice and related are created in ejb-jar.xml .
    Expand the ejb-jar.xml.and double click on < webservice>
    RC ProjectEJB -> Build EJB Archive RC on CalculateEAR ->Build applicationarchive.
    Expand the projectEAR->RC on CalculateEAR.ear->Deploy to J2EE Engine
    Double click on calculateEAR.ear ->Webservice navigator tab ->we eill servers expand the node
    select the specific WebService
    Here we test the webservice by click on Test and test it.
    After that go to Web dynpro perspective ->create one webdynpro Project and one component
    RC on model> Select import Web Service model(last)>give model name and package
    and select radio button as local file system or URL
    Go to WSnavigator->copy the WSDL path and paste it in model WSDL path and click on finish.
    from here onwards steps are same as that adaptive RFC model
    Hope it helps
    Thanks

  • How to achieve Entity Bean methods ONLY by calling them from a Session Bean

    Hi,
    I used a session bean as a business facade to a entity bean.
    In the session bean I achieve the entity bean with a jndiContext.lookup("java:comp/env/ejbEntityBean").
    Now I am looking for a solution that it is only possible to call the entity bean methods or the whole entity bean from the corresponding session bean.
    In other words: "How can I forbid the access to the entity bean, if the calling object is not the corresponding session bean?"
    --->
    I only found a way the regulate the access to the entity bean methods by declaring a security-role.
    But the existence of the security-role at runtime depends on the calling user-authorizations!
    Is there a way to set the entity-security-role within the session bean context?
    Best Regards
    Steffen

    Hi Srikanth Reddy.T,
    sorry, I am not looking for a special tag  <entity-security-role>.
    I am looking for a way to specifiy that my session bean "has" the special security-role (in my case "WebZaehlerEjbRole") of my entity bean "in my case "WebZaehlerEjbRole") that is necessary to call the methods (findAlleEntries, findByWindowId,...) of my entity-bean.
    Here is the relevant part of my ejb-jar.ml:
         <assembly-descriptor>
              <security-role>
                   <role-name>WebZaehlerEjbRole</role-name>
              </security-role>
              <method-permission>
                   <description>method-permission</description>
                   <role-name>WebZaehlerEjbRole</role-name>
                   <method>
                        <ejb-name>WebZaehlerBean</ejb-name>
                        <method-name>findAllEntries</method-name>
                        <method-params/>
                   </method>
                   <method>
                        <ejb-name>WebZaehlerBean</ejb-name>
                        <method-name>findByWindowId</method-name>
                        <method-params>
                             <method-param>java.lang.Long</method-param>

  • Help needed in EJB - to call AS from EJB a Session Bean

    Hi All ,
    I have been strictly told not to use Web Services as all the applications are on the same server
    actually I have to make an EJB invocation to an Application Service from the CAF layer from a Session Bean of another EJB Project(Not a CAF Service).
    the CAF layer has 5 parts metadata , permissions , dictionary , ear and ejbmodule.
    I added the ejbModule to the Build Path of the calling EJB Session Bean. And so I was able to access the operations of the Application Service which in turn accesses a BAPI(The Appl Service operation returns a String).
    But while executing I got the exception java.lang.RuntimeException: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError
    My method :
    Normally from a Dynamic Web Project acting as a client to an EJB Session bean, I was able to get access to EJB Local Interface by using
      private ConverterLocal converterBean = null;
      public void jspInit() {
        try {
         InitialContext ic = new InitialContext();
         converterBean = (ConverterLocal)
         ic.lookup("java:comp/env/Converter");
        } catch (Exception ex) {
             System.out.println("Couldn't create converter bean."+
           ex.getMessage());
    BigDecimal dollarAmount =  converterBean.euroToDollar(value);
    So I created a JNDI field in ejb-j2ee-engine.xml
    enterprise-beans>
            <enterprise-bean>
         <ejb-name>com.sap*******.bapi_company_getlist.BAPI_COMPANY_GETLIST</ejb-name>
                   <jndi-name>COMPANY</jndi-name>
                </enterprise-bean>
    </enterprise-beans>
    And from my Session Bean , I tried to access it using the code in already existing Bean which was working fine
    BAPI_COMPANY_GETLISTBeanImpl bean = new BAPI_COMPANY_GETLISTBeanImpl();
              try {
                   InitialContext ctx = new InitialContext();
                   bean = (BAPI_COMPANY_GETLISTBeanImpl)ctx.lookup("COMPANY");
              } catch (NamingException e) {
                   System.out.println("Converter Bean can't be created");
                   String send = bean.returnDetails();
    And I tried to print the String , but I got the above error
    I have a doubt :
    1) How do I specify the JNDI name ie in the ejb-j2ee-engine.xml file , what should I add as the name of the ejb
    is this sufficient , or are there more steps ??

    Hi Ekaterina,
    I have the document to access my Bean from another Bean.
    I could access my Bean from a standalone Java class with this code
    Properties props = new Properties();
              props.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,"com.sap.engine.services.jndi.InitialContextFactoryImpl");
              props.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL,"hostname:port");
              try{
                   Context ctx = new InitialContext(props);
                   Object o = ctx.lookup("sap.com/TestEAR/REMOTE/TestBean/com.@#$.TestRemote");
                   TestRemote testRem = (TestRemote)javax.rmi.PortableRemoteObject.narrow(o, TestRemote.class);
                   String msg = testRem.getMessage();
                   System.out.println(msg);
    And in this document there is a way shown to access a bean from another Bean.
       http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/13/c8633e0084e946e10000000a114084/frameset.htm
    If your client is another enterprise bean, declare the EJB reference in the ejb-jar.xml.
    -For more information, see Declaring EJB References.
    But the problem is that in EJB 3.0 ,  I can't see the ejb-jar.xml file .
    So how should I have a Bean as a client to another Bean, I am not that familiar with Annotations.

  • Failed to call EJB from Managed Bean in user interface

    Hi,
    I'm very new to JDeveloper and EJB. I'm now in learning stage. I managed to find a simple example for me to get started. But I encountered errors.
    This is the tutorial that I have followed -> http://www.packtpub.com/article/Building-JSF-EJB3-Applications
    When we create an application, the application will consist of EJBModel and Interface (JSF View)
    In my EJB Model, I have session bean name myappejb.ejb.QuestionSessionBean and one Entity bean name myappejb.entities.Question
    In my User Interface, I have created a managed bean name QuestionController and I try to call QuestionSessionLocal in the EJBModel, but before I can compile, there are systaxs errors. I can't import the import javax.ejb.EJB and myappejb.ejb.QuestionSessionBean, stated not found. In other words I can't call all the beans that I have created in EJBModel from java class that I have ceated in UserInterface.
    Please advise, I'm lost.
    WenXin
    I really confuse how exactly it works
    Edited by: user8989450 on Jan 14, 2010 12:57 AM

    Hi,
    The problem has been solved. I found the solution, this is due to the "dependencies", must "Checked" the EJBModel.jpr.
    Thanks.

  • Does calling class methods from bean and JSP cause collision?

    Hi,
    Please look at the class below:
    public class X
    // no member variable
    public X() {}
    // pay attention to static keyword
    public static int getY()
    Think a bean (say BeanZ) that make calls to getY() method without initializing the class X (like this: X.getY() )
    And think many users having "page scope" in JSP make call to BeanZ or directly calls it from JSP.
    I'm wondering if any collision occurs because of STATIC method? Should I use "SYNCHRONIZED" keyword with it? If so, what about Math.cos() which also is a non synchronized static method ? Shouldn't I use Math.cos() (and the other static methods) in JSP or bean?
    Thank you for your help.
    Ali Sadik

    Hi,
    Thank you for your quick answer. Think my class like this:
    public class X
    // no member variable
    public X() {}
    // pay attention to static keyword
    public static int[] getY(int a, int[] b)
    // i know there is no need for the extra array.
    // just for example ;)
    int[] ret = new int[b.length];
    for(int i = 0; i < b.length; i++)
    ret[i] = a * b;
    return ret;
    Does it the type of class that you've mentioned ? It makes calculation to produce dynamic result. Shouldn't I use it as static ? If your answer is yes, what about Math.cos()? Doesn't it have dynamic calculation?
    Thanks a lot.

  • Calling a session bean from another bean

    Hi,
    Using weblogic server 6.1, I am trying to call a session bean, B, from a session bean A.
    After importing B's package, I have added the following code to A's implementation:
    try {
    Properties h = new Properties(); h.putContext.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,"weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory");
    h.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "t3://localhost:7001" );
    Context ctx = new InitialContext(h);
    Object tempHome = ctx.lookup(JNDI Name of B);
    BHome home;
    home = (BHome)javax.rmi.PortableRemoteObject.narrow(tempHome, BHome.class);
    catch(Exception e){...}
    I can compile the code successfully but when I run it,I get an error saying:"java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: B.BHome"
    Can someone please tell me where I am going wrong?
    Thanks in advance,
    Fauzia

    I haven't used that web server but I have had the same kind of problem with ours.
    My guess is that you are compiling this in an environment where the home class is in the classpath. When you run it, though, this class cannot be resolved. Usually we have this problem when the class that is trying to get the bean is unable to find the remote jar.

  • Calling IP from a Session Bean

    I am looking to put some security on our EJBs based on the callers IP address. I can't seem to figure out how to get the calling IP from within the session bean. Does security need to be enabled to get this information? Is there something that I am missing?

    believe the functions that you mentioned are only available within the HttpRequestObject. What I am >>actually looking for is a way to get the IP from within the SessionContext of the Session EJB or simply >>thin any part of the EJB. if you REALLY want to access IP from EJB you have to pass it as parameters to your EJB functions. Request/Response objects are not available from EJBs because you don't want to tie any other architecture(Request/Response based clients) with EJB... EJBs are designed to be accessible from any type of clients(which might not be IP based).
    Because of this we are forced to implement our own. Is there a way to enable GROUPS/ROLES without >>having the EJB security enable in WebSphere?YES....you can define your groups and roles using JAAS and then in your application code...you have to to write some code to do checks before calling any Entity Beans. I am not aware of any methods to tie up the JAAS to EJB either in the deployment descriptor or any other method.
    Another thing that I want to emphasize is that using IP you might not be able to accomplish what you are doing..because lets say you are assigning some rights to people with a specific IP but if u r using DHCP they might not have the same IP next time..so u will end up in more trouble. :-)
    all the best....

  • Action from bean called out from jsp form

    Hello, I''ve got problem: i have a form inside a jsp site. It is some searching form: i have inputtext and a "search" button.
    I have action connected with this button <h:commandButton id="search" value="Search" action="#{MyBean.searchj}"/>. It works fine when user press that button, the method from bean is been called out, but usually when user is using so kind of form, he press "enter" key instead of pressing "search" button.
    How can I bind (or call) bean method (in this example it is MyBean.search method) when after user writes something in inputtext and press "enter" key?
    Thanks in advance.

    It is a known problem in the current jsf-ri implementation. There is a component of the third party library that sovles this problem.
    See: http://www.jsftutorials.net/defaultActionTag.html
    You can use this library (it is free) or take the javascript code and insert it into your page.

    Hi,

    How can i call a popup in one page from another page using backing bean.
    Thank you in advance.
    Emile BITAR

    Hi,
    You can use <af:setActionListener> with <af:showPopupBehavior>, if you set triggerType="click" on the showPopupBehavior and contentDelivery="lazyUncached" on the popup to ensure the popup will be raised after setActionListener.
    I also don't understand what you mean by calling the popup from another page (is that page included as a region?), but if you say it works then your other option could be to bind the popup to the backing bean and use popup.getClientId() in your javascript.
    String script = "var popup = AdfPage.PAGE.findComponent(\"" + popup.getClientId(fc) +  "\"); popup.show();";Pedja

    Hi all,
    we have JCAPS 5.1.3.
    From a JCD we want to call a remote bean that is running on a Glassfish domain.
    Do call the remote bean from a NetBeans project (as a standalone client) I know you have to put the "org.omg.CORBA.ORBInitialHost" and "org.omg.CORBA.ORBInitialPort" in the InitialContext together with the factory. Doing this it works from NetBeans 6.5.1. So we know that our remote beans are accessible and working.
    Doing the same it wont wrok from a JCAPS 5.1.3 JCD. I receive the message that the remote bean cant be found. I know for sure I have configured the ORBInitalHost and Port the same as in NetBeans. It looks like that JCAPS 5.1.3 may use some other InitialContext settings.
    My questions are:
    - which settings I have to put into the InitialContext (in the JCD code or in a local JCAPS 5.1.3 JNDI resource)?
    - which jar files I have to use in JCAPS 5.1.3? The jar files from the remote Glassfish application server or from JCAPS 5.1.3 ( the jars like "appserv-rt.jar")

    Hi
    I have been using OC4J for quite some while now, and I have a lot of programs to test my session beans. But with the new versions of the container 9.0.2.0.0 production release and 9.0.3.0.0 pre-release J2EE 1.3 certified, all my test program hang in the lookup method. I have an earlier pre-release of 9.0.3.0.0 (the same version number but not j2EE 1.3 certified -> confusing) where my test programs works without any problems.
    I have included a small code sample of how I call the session beans.
    I hope some one can see what I'm doing wrong or what have changed compared to the earlier versions!
