Calling server side procedures from forms
Hi
I am trying to add a server side procedure to a form. The procedure is held in a package which resides on a remote database and I have set-up database links to this database.
When I run the form, calling the procedure, the oracle forms runtime session closes without displaying any error messages.
I have successfully called the procedure from database triggers in different databases.
Does anyone know whats going on?
I am using forms 5.0 with a oracle 7.3 database
Thanks!!

Check out the method:
LibraryObject.invokeServerMethod(String, Serializable)
I think this may be exactly what you're looking for.

How to call Pl/sql procedure from form ?
Hi all,
I need to call a procedure from form after the user has pressed the button to invoke the sql procedure, can anyone please advise me on how to do it ?
Thanks.
LimHi,
Thanks for your reply.
yes, I have include in when-button-pressed trigger as
AIC_PROC_AR_CCID_UPD;
Below is my procedure :-
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE AIC_PROC_AR_CCID_UPD(errbuf out Varchar2,
retcode out Number ) is
VAR_BUF VARCHAR2(240);
Cursor C1 is
SELECT CONCATENATED_SEGMENTS ACCT,
SEGMENT5 SEG5
FROM AIC_GL_COA AGC
WHERE AGC.CODE_COMBINATION_ID IS NULL;
Rec1 C1%RowType;
BEGIN
FOR Rec1 IN C1 LOOP
BEGIN
UPDATE AIC_GL_COA A SET ( DESCRIPTION, CODE_COMBINATION_ID, SEGMENT5 )=
( SELECT FFVT.DESCRIPTION, GLA.CODE_COMBINATION_ID, GLA.SEGMENT5
FROM GL_CODE_COMBINATIONS_KFV GLA,
FND_FLEX_VALUES_TL FFVT,
FND_FLEX_VALUES FFV
WHERE GLA.CONCATENATED_SEGMENTS = REC1.ACCT
AND FFV.FLEX_VALUE = REC1.SEG5
AND FFV.FLEX_VALUE_ID = FFVT.FLEX_VALUE_ID
AND FFV.FLEX_VALUE_SET_ID = 1002673 )
WHERE A.SEGMENT5 = REC1.SEG5 ;
EXCEPTION
WHEN NO_DATA_FOUND THEN
FND_FILE.PUT_LINE(FND_FILE.OUTPUT, 'NO RECORD UPDATE !!');
END;
END LOOP;
COMMIT;
RETURN;
END;
However, when I try to compile it, error prompt :-
Error 306 at line 1, column 1
wrong number or types of arguments in call to 'AIC_PROC_AR_CCID_UPD'
Error 0 at line 1, column 1
statement ignored.
By the way, my form 6i is running at client site and connection to procedure in unix server. Will this is ok ?

Problem with IN OUT parameters whiloe calling procedure from Form 6i
Hi
Could some help please? I have the following scenario.
I am calling a stored procedure from form 6i by pressing a button on the form. Procedure has two IN OUT parameters, and I am passing these two IN OUT parameters and have declared them the way they are declared passed to the procedure. But I get an error when calling that procedure with these IN OUT parameters. the procedure works fine if parameters are IN only. The error says:
PLS:00363: Expression '1' cannot be used as an assigment target.
NO matter I pass some value or leave it blank, I get the same error message persistenetly.
Please help.
Thanksmake sure you are calling your procedure with variables as parameters,
i.e.
l_v1 := 1 ;
l_v2 := 'hello world' ;
your_proc(l_v1, l_v2)
not
your_proc(1,'hello world') -
How to call a sql server stored procedure from oracle
Hi all,
Please anybody tell me how to call a sql server stored procedure from oracle.
I've made an hsodbc connection and i can do insert, update, fetch data in sql server from oracle. But calling SP gives error. when I tried an SP at oracle that has line like
"dbo"."CreateReceipt"@hsa
where CreateReceipt is the SP of sql server and hsa is the DSN, it gives the error that "dbo"."CreateReceipt" should be declared.
my database version is 10g
Please help me how can i call it... I need to pass some parameters too to the SP
thanking youhi,
thank you for the response.
when i call the sp using DBMS_HS_PASSTHROUGH, without parameters it works successfully, but with parameters it gives the following error
ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:
[Generic Connectivity Using ODBC][Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Invalid parameter number[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Invalid Descriptor Index (SQL State: S1093; SQL Code: 0)
my code is,
declare
c INTEGER;
nr INTEGER;
begin
c := DBMS_HS_PASSTHROUGH.OPEN_CURSOR@hsa;
DBMS_HS_PASSTHROUGH.PARSE@hsa(c, 'Create_Receipt(?,?)');
DBMS_HS_PASSTHROUGH.BIND_VARIABLE@hsa(c,1,'abc');
DBMS_HS_PASSTHROUGH.BIND_VARIABLE@hsa(c,2,'xyz');
nr:=DBMS_HS_PASSTHROUGH.EXECUTE_NON_QUERY@hsa(c);
DBMS_HS_PASSTHROUGH.CLOSE_CURSOR@hsa(c);
end;
Create_Receipt is the sp which requires two parameters.
please give me a solution
thanking you

Call Stored Procedure from Forms 6i -- Urgent Plz...
Dear All,
I am first writing a stored procedure as:-
CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION
good_hire
(birthdate_in IN DATE,
reqsal_in IN NUMBER)
RETURN BOOLEAN
IS
too_young BOOLEAN :=
ADD_MONTHS
(SYSDATE, -216) >
birthdate_in;
too_expensive BOOLEAN :=
reqsal_in > fin.dept_bal;
BEGIN
RETURN NOT (too_young
OR too_expensive);
END;
Now in my forms also i have the same function,which i defined in in my program unit i.e., with the same name good_hire,but with different parameters.
If I want to call this stored procedure(good_hire)in my form
I am writing this code in the pre-Insert trigger.
IF good_hire
(:newemp.birthdate,
:newemp.proposed_sal)
THEN
SELECT empseq.NEXTVAL
INTO :newemp.empno
FROM dual;
ELSE
RAISE FORM_TRIGGER_FAILURE;
END IF;
Notice that i am sending bind variables from my form to the
stored procedure. Now my question :
1) Can i pass bind variables to the stored procedures from
forms or is there any other way i can access the
stored roceures from forms(Expecting a detailed answer) and
from which triggers can I access the stored procedures(like pre-
Insert here)?
2) If at all I have the same parameters in my program unit
function and with the same name good_hire, I know that the code
in the pre-Insert trigger will call only the function in my
program unit and not the stored procedure, but if I like to
call my stored procedure instead of the local function good_hire
then what should I do?
2)As I said before if i have different parameters, for the
stored procedure good_hire and local function good_hire and If
I call good_hire from my pre-insert trigger .. Is it that the
Forms will decide and call the Local function or stored
procedure depending on the parameter list?
I hope all my points are very clear.
I am expecting the best and detailed answer for my
Queries, I also hope these Quests will clear the doubts of many
members in our esteemed group.
Thnx in Advance...
Regards
siree....Dear Siree,
Oh!! how many Questions? Each how much big??
Ok First of all the answer to your first question.
You can use the Stored procedures in the same way as the Forms procedures. You can pass bind variables to the stored procedures as well. You can also use the stored procedures in any triggers, I think there are no restrictions for that. The only thing is you should be connected to database while compiling the trigger where you are calling the stored procedure.
Answer to your second question.
You cannot direct Forms (I don't know about version 10g), untill 9i, you cannot tell forms to take the stored procedure and leave the local procedure. It will always take the local procedure, once a procedure is called. If not found locally then only it will go for the Stored procedures.
For your third question.
As I told you b4 forms searches for the procedure being called locally first, if locally present, does not go to the stored procedure. If declared by different paramaters in the stored procedure and it is called, then it will throw error (as it first searches for the name locally and if found will take up the one present locally and since that procedure is with different parameter, will throw up error). It is after all a stupid machine and can't think like us.

Calling MSSQL SERVER STORED PROCEDURE FROM ORACLE STORED PROCEDURE
Hi Guys,
I want to call a stored procedure from mssql server 2005 as part of a stored procedure in PL/SQL. How do I go about this? I've already set up the linked servers.http://en.allexperts.com/q/Oracle-1451/2008/6/Calling-SQL-Stored-procedure-1.htm
Does this help? -
Hello!
I'm upgrading some forms to 6i.When compiling a library I receive an error like this: 'Can't call builtin routines remotely. I have understood that DBMS calls are not supported in client-side PL/SQL code. I receive the error message in the following code:
lp_msg.display('FRM_SAVE_TO_FILE_FAILED', chr(10) || sys.dbms_utility.format_error_stack, TRUE);
To avoid this problem I think I have to create a server side procedure that calls the DBMS_UTILITY.
Will the following code do this job and do I have to delete the code from the client form? Any other suggestions of how to solve this problem?
procedure test_1 is
lp_msg.display('FRM_SAVE_TO_FILE_FAILED', chr(10) || sys.dbms_utility.format_error_stack, TRUE);
END;
Thanks in advance

Calling a stored procedure from a url
I am needing to call a stored procedure from a url string (or
anchor) understand that from training to be as follows:
http://host:port/pls/dad/package.procedure?query_string
With that in mind, I am getting an error as follows:
Not Found
The requested URL /pls/portal30/at_hrfm.checkshow.showcheck was
not found on this server.
Here is a sample of my url
http://servername:port/pls/portal30/at_hrfm.checkshow.showcheck
I can see servername:port/pls/portal30, it is just the
procedure I am having a problem with.
Here is a sample of my source code that is created under the
at_hrfm schema (I also tried under portal30 schema).
package body checkshow as
procedure showcheck as
begin
htp.htmlOpen;
htp.headOpen;
htp.title('My Check');
htp.comment ('This should be your Check');
htp.bodyOpen;
htp.header (1,'Check');
htp.print ('checkdate');
htp.bodyClose;
htp.headClose;
htp.htmlClose;
end;
end;I think I figured this out. I don't think the grant to ANONYMOUS is going to work with production XE and the online documentation is in need of an update. It appears that production XE has been locked down and you will need to specify the name of each stored procedure you wish to allow to be executed by adding it to the WWV_FLOW_EPG_INCLUDE_MOD_LOCAL function. This is spelled out in more technical detail here: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B25329_01/doc/appdev.102/b25309/adm_wrkspc.htm#BEJCGJFJ
Another alternative that would work involves creating a separate DAD. Using the DAD approach with my schema made all of my stored procedures callable from a web browser, so I rejected this approach. To make this usable (secure) I would have needed to create and maintain a separate database user for the DAD and then only granted it execute for the stored procedures I wanted to be callable from a URL.
Finally I read about using an on-demand procedure and having it invoke the desired stored procedure. While I didn't try this out, it sounds like another good approach because it maintains session security. If it can be used to return an image I do not know.

Calling packaged stored procedure from Java
Hi All,
I'm trying to call a stored procedure from Java but I'm having
problems with registrating the output parameter. I'm getting
the error: Conflicting parameters.: sqltype=2003
This is the stored procedure which is located in a package in
the Oracle database:
package Pack_GetAgencyInformation as
Type InfoType is record ( agen_code varchar(3), agen_designation
varchar(30), agen_adresse varchar(60), agen_tel varchar(12) );
function GetAgencyInformation( P_AGENCE VARCHAR )
return Pack_GetAgencyInformation.InfoType
end Pack_GetAgencyInformation;
This is the Java source from where I'm calling the procedure:
//DriverManager.registerDriver (new
oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());
Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver");
Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection
("jdbc:oracle:thin:@164.48.69.125:1521:ventes", "system", "*****
// @machineName:port:SID,
userid, password
CallableStatement cs = conn.prepareCall("{ ? = call
Pack_GetAgencyInformation.GetAgencyInformation( ? )}");
try {
cs.registerOutParameter( 1,
oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleTypes.ARRAY);
} catch (SQLException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
cs.setString(2, "001" );
//ResultSet rset = cs.executeQuery();
The stacktrace:
java.sql.SQLException: Parametertypen conflicteren.:

I think it has to do with the type InfoType which is created in
the Stored Procedure. I'm absolute no Oracle expert and I
prefer not to make changes to the Oracle database. So any
solution in Java is welcome!
BR, H.RietmanI managed to get it to work only by changing the stored
procedure. I have changed the return type record to a Ref
Cursor type (had to change alot of code for this). It seams
that Oracle JDBC drivers DON'T support the Record type as a
return type.
So the next question is: is it possible to typecast a record
type to a ref cursor type in Oracle. In this way I can easily
change the return type for the stored procedures.

as soon as i am able to delete the old one and paste the current one, i will update you and will mark the answer correct accordingly.

Calling Oracle store procedure from Crystal 11 command
I need to call Oracle store procedure from Crystal Command. The Store proc has ref cursor. Is it possible. Can you post few examples?
Also, is it possible to have multiple sql statements in a Crystal Command, when working with Oracle 10g?
It is working for SQL server.Please re-post if this is still an issue to the Data Connectivity - Crystal Reports Forum or purchase a case and have a dedicated support engineer work with you directly.

How to call jsp web report from forms 9i
Dear fellows,
How can i call a jsp report from forms 9i.
Thanx
MochooUse web.show_document instead of Run_Report_Object. If the jsp contains a paper layout you can still use Run_Report_Object, but you have to specify the filename extension .jsp along with the filename.

How to call a stored procedure from WorkShop
Hello Everyone .. I'm quite new with WebLogic 8.1 & WorkShop, so please bare with
me .. Today I'm simply trying to find out how to call a stored procedure from
within workshop, using any of the DB Controls .. I see workshop provides a way
create a Java Control, Rowset Control, but it wont easily allow for a stored procedured
to be entered in place of the inline query .. Perhaps I've over looked it. Any
advise on the best way to tackle this task will be appreciated.

Calling a stored procedure from within a ViewObject
Is it possible to make stored procedure call from within a BC4J ViewObject? Basically something like this:
select * from table(f1(3)); where f1 is a table function. Using Oracle's pipelined table functions?
If not, is it possible to call a stored procedure from Java and have the returned results be put back into a BC4J RowSet.
In addition, is there a way to create a JDBC Resultset from a BC4J RowSet?
We need to be able to dynamically create our SQL statements (the entire SQL, not just the where clause) but are required to have these sql statements generated/executed from within a pl/sql stored procedure in the database.Is it possible to make stored procedure call from within a BC4J ViewObject? Basically something like this:
select * from table(f1(3)); where f1 is a table function. Using Oracle's pipelined table functions?
Yes. Using our expert-mode query feature this is possible.

Yes. See this article about basing a view object on a REF CURSOR:

No. Not directly. What's the business requirement here so I can understand better?

REF CURSOR would work fine, or if it's just the statement that needs to be generated dynamically, you could fetch the text of the SQL statement from the stored procedure, then use createViewObjectFromQueryStmt(). Although this has runtime overhead involved with describing the query.
The REF CURSOR based approach is probably best for this.
