How do I call ORACLE sql packages from java?
We are still using Oracle 7.3. Any sample code
would be appreciated.

Probably not the best way, but you could try using JNI to call a C function which then invokes SQL Loader via system() or exec(). I haven't done this myself though...

You can create two different files which has sqlldr command defined....
1. loader.sh
2. loader.bat
and in the depending on the OS execute one...

Calling sql dts from java

I'm able to connect to my sql database and call a stored procedure, but is there any way to call dts?
here is how i'm accessing the stored procedures:
 Class t = Class.forName("com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver");
 Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection (serverURL, user, password);
 CallableStatement procedure = conn.prepareCall( "{ call pushOracle}");
 procedure.execute();I feel like this should be possible, but I can't seem to find the correct syntax.

I found a solution, but not sure if there are any possible issues this could cause
Instead of trying to connect to sql and calling the dts I'm using dtsrun inside java to call the dts
runtime.exec(dtsrun /Samok /U<user> /P<password> /NoraclePush /A tnsNAMES:8=<tnsNames file name> /A sourceDB:8=<SQL DB name> )So I guess the next logical question is, "what are the limitiation or issues that could arise by using the runtime.exec function?"

Calling oracle SQL Loader from java program

I want to insert data into oracle tables from a text files containing fixed length fields. I am using SQLLoader to achieve this. The requirement is to call the SQLLoader within the java program.
Does anyone know how to call SQL Loader from java program?

Simply "exec" the sqlldr program with the parameters you need to pass to it.
Runtime.exec (........)
Try to pass all parameters needed including the username and password, and use the option "silent" to avoid output, and the option "log" to have a log file of the modifications that sqlldr has done to the database.

Calling a PLSQL package from java

I have a problem calling a package from java. I have to pass a Date to the package which is a String in java.
How can I typecast it to the PLSQL Date from a java String.
Here is my below code for reference. The below code does not works because of typecasting problem.I tried to_date() also in java, but it is not working.

Thus you should consider exactly what storing the date only component means in terms of the timezone that the Oracle server is using.

i meant invoking .SQL script only...
No not stored procedure..i mean running or invoking a sql file containing sql statements(inserts etc)

Calling a PL/SQL function from java

I would like to call a pl/sql function from java. My pl/sql function is taking arrays of records as parameters. How do i proceed? Which specific oracle packages do I have to import?

I have to add some busines funtionality to the standard existing oco page .
i have extened the standard controller and add the validation logic there , now if the validation is true i have to call a pl/sql package to do some functions . now i am facing few issues here
a) can i call a pl/sql package from a controller ?
b) should i extend the standard AM and call the pl/sql package from the extended am . is extending am allowed ?
please let me know the best sol to achieve this

Error PLS-00306 during calling PL/SQL function from Java

Hi all,
I am facing a problem during call of oracle PL/SQL function from java using CallableStatement.
I receive following error message.
java.sql.SQLException: ORA-06550: line 1, column 13:
PLS-00306: wrong number or types of arguments in call to 'EXPORT_HIST_ALARMS_FUNC'
ORA-06550: line 1, column 7:
PL/SQL: Statement ignored
As per above error EXPORT_HIST_ALARMS_FUNC in oracle has this signature.
CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION EXPORT_HIST_ALARMS_FUNC(startDateTime VARCHAR2, endDateTime VARCHAR2, meType VARCHAR2) RETURN VARCHAR2 IS
END EXPORT_HIST_ALARMS_FUNC;
Above function I have called following way in java.

Actually above function requires three input parameters and one return parameter.
During execution of above java code it throws SQLException and shows PLS-00306: wrong number or types of arguments in call to 'EXPORT_HIST_ALARMS_FUNC' error.
I have run this function directly from oracle with three parameters and run successfully and finally it returns string.
But I am unable to figure out why it doesn't run from above java code.
Please help regarding this.

I have a package called test.dtsx developed in SSIS vs 2010 (project deployment model). It has two project parameters one is db connection (string) and one is classnumber(string). This package has been deployed as file system and in SSISDB. I want to
assign the following values to the project parameters
$Project::DBConnection - Data Source=localhost;User ID=User;Password=password;Initial Catalog=testdb;Provider=SQLNCLI11.1;Persist Security Info=True;Auto Translate=False;
$Project::Classnumber - 10
What is the syntax to call this package from dtexec passing values for parameters
1. as a file system deployment
2. as a package in SSIS db(catalog)

You may define a global empty array in some package. Then you can do:
SQL> CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE pkg
AS
   g_empty   DBMS_SQL.varchar2_table;
END pkg;
Package created.
SQL> CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE p (

The String I am expecting is a file's name !; so I am a little bit confused...

cs.setString(4,paramNombreArchivo);You use 'registerOutParameter' for an OUT parameter and the 'setXXX' methods for other parameters.
Remove the 'setSTring' for the OUT parameter.

The actual value returned by PL/SQL is strictly determined by the PL/SQL code and Java and JDBC are not involved.
Fix the code problems, retest, and folllowup with whoever wrote the code if it still returns ERROR.

Connect to MS Sql Server from Java Source

Hi,
Is there any way I could connect to ms sql server from Java source? I know I can call java source from function thats easy but what I really want is capability to connect to non-oracle(MS SQL server) from my java source and then call it from function.
I don't know if JDBC driver for SQL server is even installed/available. Is there a way I could find it out form my IDE? I know sqlJ does compile but I have never used sqlj. help!!!

Calling SQL*Loader from Forms

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has called SQL*Loader from Forms?
What I am wanting to do is use Oracle Forms as the interface where you can specify a file that you can import into the database and it will use a set control file. Push the import button and SQL*Loader does the rest.
Is using Java code to call SQL*Loader from Forms a viable option, or is there an easier way to achieve the desired outcome.
Any ideas or guidance will be much appreciated.

In forms, there's a HOST built-in command which is supposed to execute any o/s commands.
What you have to do is :
1. Bult up the string exacltly in the fashion which you will run in o/s
2. Call the HOST Built-in and pass in the string
Here's a example :
