Calling the copy contructor inside a method.

Hello everyone, Ive got a pretty annoying delima right now. Im trying to write a method that uses the copy contructor inside it and it is simply put, just not working.
So how do you do this?
Example I have a copy contructor for a Dll that makes a new copy of a Dll. Now I want to write a method that when its called on a Dll object and given a Dll parameter as input it makes a copy of the input and saves it into the calling Dll object.
public void DLinkedList(DLinkedList theOriginal)  {
code
public void methodWithCopyContructorInside(DLinkedList list) {
DLinkedList newList = new DLinkedList(list);
????????? This is what I would consider to work but since im here you can guess its not.
Any suggestions, tips, comments would be most appreciated. Thank you.Message was edited by:

Here is the code for the methods in question. I only didnt post all of it becuase it is alot of stuff and wasnt sure if anyone had the time and patience to read it. Sorry about that.
This is the Copy constructor.
public LinkedList( LinkedList theOriginal ) {
         if( theOriginal == this )
             ;// do nothing
              else {
             // old contents is detached. Deleted by garbage collector.
                  makeEmpty();
                  // Thread the original list inserting all the values found
                  // into the copy. This code is short but inefficient.
                  theOriginal.toHeadNode();
                  while( theOriginal.toNextNode() ) {
                 int coe = theOriginal.getCurrentCoefficient();
          int exp = theOriginal.getCurrentExponent();
                      insertInAscendingList(coe, exp);
                         //insertInAscendingList( value );
This is the add method which is supposed to use the copy constructor inside it. Obvisouly from the name of my post you can conclude that this code is incorrect. But to me it seems correct. thus my dilemma.
public void add(LinkedList b) {
  LinkedList a = new LinkedList(b);
Here is the outputList method.
public void outputList()
    toHeadNode();
    while( toNextNode() ) // returns false if back at head
        System.out.print( curr.item + " " );
    System.out.println();
Now here is the driver program that uses these methods and constructors.
public static void main(String[] args)
    LinkedList a,b;
    a = new LinkedList();
    b = new LinkedList(a);
    b.outputList();  //This works
    //Now if I call the copy constructor everything works fine. A copy is made and method outputList() will print everything out perfect. But!!, Now if I use the add() method
   b.add(a);
   b.outputList(); //This doesnt work
im not sure what is being stored into b and outputList() returns nothing. A system.out.println() on b.add(a); returns LinkedList@d9f9c3 Message was edited by:

    Hi Shehzad,
    SAPHELP on Advantages of ABAP Objects - Using ABAP - SAP Library says -
    There are only two purposes for which procedural ABAP is essential:
    · Encapsulation of classic screens in function modules.
    · When you want to make functions available to other systems, but are not able to make class methods available externally using XI server proxies. In this case, you have to use function modules.

    HI
    i have table which contains contains package name, procedurename,input parameters and output parameters as columns like below.
    Table name is PKG_META_DATA.
    package_name Procedure_name input parameters output parameters
    pkg1 prc1 i_location,i_type o_date
    pkg2 prc3 i_location o_date ,o_prev_date
    Note:Input parameters and output parameters will vary according to package

    begin

    --display output values from a package
    dbms_output.put_line( o_date );
    dbms_output.put_line( o_prev_date );
    end loop;

    And if you reallly and truly need to use dynamic PL/SQL calls, then using bind variables is mandatory. Unless you want to fragment and trash the shared pool and waste a lot of CPU by burning it on hard parsing.
    This also means that execute immediate is the wrong choice. (it does not support dynamic binding)
    And if I foam a bit at the mouth with this response - simply that I'm getting utterly frustrated seeing yet again dynamic SQL being (ab)used, without the foggiest notion of how to do so correctly, and with complete ignorance of the repercussions on security and performance.
    Dynamic coding is NOT the best thing since slice bread. It was never even a consideration as a being better choice.
    What it is, is wrong - 99% of the time. Wrong ito design. Wrong for security. Wrong for performance. Wrong for flexibility.

  • Calling the super class method from the subclass

    Hi all,
    I have a question about inheritence and redefinition of methods. Is it possible to call the superclass implementation of a method which is redefined in the subclass in another method of the subclass?There are possbilities like creation of an explicit super class instance or delegating the super class method implementation to another method which is also protected etc. What i mean is, is there a direct way of calling it?We have ,me,   as the reference for the instance we have(which is the subclass instance in this case), is there also a way of pointing the superclass implementation(with super we can reference in the subclass redefinition, my question is if we have such a parameter in other methods of the subclass too)
    Thanks in advance
    Sukru

    Hi,
    The super reference can only be used in redefined methods to call superclass implementation . So probably what you can do is use upcasting and access the required superclass implementation. I can think of only this way...;-)
    Ex data lr_super type ref to cl_superclass
    lr_super = lr_subclass.
    lr_super->method().

Then there should be two request and it is taking the two request. But what is happening is that for the first request,it's collect the data and give the call to ODI process and for the second request , it's collect the data but calling to ODI process time it give the error. i am not able to get why this is happening.Same code for the first request, it is working and for the second request, it gv the exception.

  • Calling stored procedure from session bean method

    I have a situation like this :
    I have one method on a stateless session bean (and I mark this method as container managed transaction). For database related stuff, I am not using entity beans, I am using my own layer of OR mapping. This method does a lot of stuff and it involves many trips to the database, as a result of which the performance is very poor. I have identified certain pieces of functionality from this method which I think can be moved to stored procedures, while some of the functionality can still remain in the session bean method. So my scenario is like this :
    session bean method start
    store some data in tables(using my OR layer)
    call the stored procedure
    session bean method end
    My question is :
    Will the data that I am storing in tables from within the session bean method, be available to the code executing inside stored proc.
    secondly, how do I sync the transcation which is being initiated by the container with the transaction under which the stored proc is executing or is it that the stored procedure code will also be executing under the container managed transcation.
    Thanks
    Vimal

    Hi Vimal,
    Will the data that I am storing in tables from within
    the session bean method, be available to the code
    executing inside stored proc.There's only one way to find out (isn't there?)
    secondly, how do I sync the transcation which is
    being initiated by the container with the transaction
    under which the stored proc is executing or is it
    that the stored procedure code will also be executing
    under the container managed transcation.Again, why not just "suck it and see!"
    [Or is there some reason why you can't?]
    As I interpret the EJB specification, if the transaction attribute for your session bean method is such that it starts a transaction, then that transaction will be terminated when the method completes -- and every operation that occurs within the framework of that method will be in the one transaction.
    In other words, your database stored procedure should execute within the same transaction as your O/R mapping layer.
    However, how OC4J behaves may not exactly follow what is written in the (EJB) specification. Hence I repeat, "try it and see for yourself".
    Put it this way: as far as I know, the only way that your stored procedure would NOT see the changes made by your O/R mapping layer is if they both executed in separate transactions and the O/R mapping layer did not commit its changes before the stored procedure began its execution.
    Hope this has helped.
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

    Pls let me know, how to get the attribute's value inside "Execute_default" method, as i need to process further using this attribute.

    Lei,
    If you are concerned only about a couple of attributes, then you can manage with a separate copy of the data. But if the data is in bulk, better leave it to pl/sql side of validation.

    // Create a Web Service object
    var TokGenService:WebService = new WebService("
    http://webservice.asmx?wsdl");
    // Call the web service method
    var myToken:Object = TokGenService.GenerateToken();
    // Create an AkamaiConnection object
    var connection:AkamaiConnection = new AkamaiConnection();
    connection.addEventListener("onConnect", this);
    connection.addEventListener("onError", this);
    // If you get a result from the web service, save the result
    in a variable
    myToken.onResult = function(result)
    // If you get a result from the web service, save the result
    in a variable
    myToken.onResult = function(result)
    GeneratedToken = result;
    authParams = GeneratedToken +
    "&aifp=v001&slist=37414/test/Streaming/";
    //Call the Connect method of the AkamaiConnection class
    connection.connect("cp37414.edgefcs.net/ondemand",true,true,5,true,false,"443","rtmpt",
    authParams);
    But then, if I use a hard-coded string value in lieu of the
    variable, the method call works!
    connection.connect("cp37414.edgefcs.net/ondemand",true,true,5,true,false,"443","rtmpt",
    "testStringvalue");
    I don't know what I'm missing or what I'm doing wrong... Can
    somebody help me please? I am using a 30-day trial version of Adobe
    Flash CS3. Also, when I Trace output the variables, the values are
    there. It just that they can't be read or recognize inside the
    method call. Is this a ActionScript limitation?
    Thanks so much in advance!

    The result param is a returned, “Decoded ActionScript
    object version of the XML”. I am not exactly sure what that
    means but I have had issues of returned XML values and their
    datatype. When I did have these issues I had to cast or convert
    into the desired datatype. Try one of the following, assuming the
    problem is related to the code that you have bolded.
    GeneratedToken = result.toString();
    authParams = GeneratedToken +
    "&aifp=v001&slist=37414/test/Streaming/";
    Or
    GeneratedToken = String(result);
    authParams = GeneratedToken +
    "&aifp=v001&slist=37414/test/Streaming/";
    Or
    GeneratedToken = result.toString();
    authParams = String(GeneratedToken +
    "&aifp=v001&slist=37414/test/Streaming/");

  • JSP does not call the right method in controller class

    Hi all,
    I have a jsp file which loads a page at this address: http://localhost:8080/dir/list/
    I've added two checkboxes to the page; user can check both checkboxes, only one or none. Following is code I have in jsp file:
    <form class="checkboxForm">
    <c:choose>
    <c:when test='${newItems==true}'>
    <input id="newItems" type="checkbox" value="#" name="newItems" class="checkbox2" checked="checked" /><strong> New Businesses   </strong>
    </c:when>
    <c:otherwise>
    <input id="newItems" type="checkbox" value="#" name="newItems" class="checkbox2"/><strong> New Businesses   </strong>
    </c:otherwise>
    </c:choose>
    <c:choose>
    <c:when test='${rejectedItems==true}'>
    <input id="rejectedItems" type="checkbox" value="#" name="rejectedItems" class="checkbox3" checked="checked"/><strong> Rejected Businesses   </strong>
    </c:when>
    <c:otherwise>
    <input id="rejectedItems" type="checkbox" value="#" name="rejectedItems" class="checkbox3"/><strong> Rejected Businesses   </strong>
    </c:otherwise>
    </c:choose>
    <a href="#" onclick="apply();">
    <button name="apply" class="btn-primary" value="Apply" tabindex="4">Apply</button>
    </a>
    </form>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function apply(){
         var newItems = document.getElementById("newItems").checked;
         var rejectedItems = document.getElementById("rejectedItems").checked;
         alert("Inside apply() method.");
         alert("newItems= " + newItems + ", rejectedItems: " + rejectedItems);
         window.location = "<c:url value='/list/'/>" + newItems + "/" + rejectedItems;
         alert("window.location= " + window.location);
         alert("Add extra delay!");
         return false;
    </script>This is my Controller class:
    // Method1: this method gets called when the user loads the page for the first time.
    @RequestMapping(value="/list", method = RequestMethod.GET)
    public String list(Model model, HttpServletRequest request) {
              System.out.println("Controller: method1: Passing through...");
              model.addAttribute("newItems", Boolean.TRUE);
              model.addAttribute("rejectedItems", Boolean.TRUE);
              // Does other things.
    // Method3: this method gets called when user checks/unchecks one of the checkboxes and clicks on Apply button.
    @RequestMapping(value="/list/{newItems}/{rejectedItems}", method = RequestMethod.GET)
    public String list(@PathVariable Boolean newItems, @PathVariable Boolean rejectedItems, Model model, HttpServletRequest request) {
              System.out.println("Controller: method3: Passing through...");
              model.addAttribute("newItems", newItems);
              model.addAttribute("rejectedItems", rejectedItems);
    // Does other things.
         }The way my jsp code is written now, it calls the correct method and displays the correct url. When page loads for the first time, it calls method1 and the url is:
    http://localhost:8080/dir/list
    When the user checks/unchecks one or both checkboxes and clicks on apply button, method3 is called and this url is displayed:
    If both checkboxes are checked which both booleans are set to true:
    http://localhost:8080/dir/list/true/true
    Everything is fine... however, if I comment these two lines at the end of JavaScript apply() function,
    alert("window.location= " + window.location);
    alert("Add extra delay!");Then method3 will never gets called; only method1 gets called and I see this url:
    http://localhost:8080/url/list//?newItems=%23&rejectedItems=%23&apply=Apply
    I do not know why it gets confused bet. method1 and method3 and cannot pick the right method?
    I tried to use the POST method instead, but the page goes directly to our internal error page and it never reaches the method I wrote in my controller for POST:
    I don't really know what I'm doing wrong? Any help is greatly appraciated.

    I changed the <form> in the jsp to div and its working fine. I do not need to have comments in JavaScript funcion() anymore. I don't know why that made the difference though? According to:
    http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_form.asp
    The <form> tag is used to create an HTML form for user input.
    The <form> element can contain one or more of the following form elements:
    <input>
    <textarea>
    <button>
    <select>
    <option>
    <optgroup>
    <fieldset>
    <label>
    An HTML form is used to pass data to a server.
    I do have <button> and also send the data - the value of checkboxes - to server. So I think it should also work with <form>.
    Please let me know if you have any idea. Thanks.

    This java class has been loaded into ORACLE using DBMS_JAVA.LOADJAVA pkg, Now this class is being called in the oracle as a JAVA Stored procedure...... When ever im trying to call the procedure it throws the following error
    ORA-29531: no method
    *Cause:    An attempt was made to execute a non-existent method in a
    Java class.
    *Action:   Adjust the call or create the specified method.
    The code snippet as follows
    JAVA CODE:
    Class xyz
    public static void Abc (String hostName,
    int port,
    String serviceURL,
    String soapAction,
    int timeOut,
    String wsUser,
    String wsPasWd,
    String keyStore,
    String keyStorePasWd)
