Hello and thank you for using the Palm Help Forums!
Free space. If you have little free space the device is going to operate slower. The Palm devices use whatever is left of free space as thinking room. Smaller the space the slower the device will be. This can also affect things such as freezing and automatic restarts. If you have a lot of memory being used, you may want to invest in an SD card. You can use the SD card to store pictures, music, some programs, and other media related items.
I hope this information is useful and let me know if you have any further questions.

Hello,
I have done this before in the past and now I have forgotten how to do it! I would like to simply put all my camera videos from the past year onto a DVD but do not want to have the iDVD theme menus and chapters. In the past, I was somehow able to upload and burn these videos using iDVD without the themes. Can someone help? Thank you so much!Hi
No Menu DVD
from. Mishmunken
How to create a DVD in iDVD6 without menu (there are several options)
1. Easy. Drop your iMovie in the auto-play box in iDVD's Map View, then set your auto-play item (your movie) to loop continuously.
Disadvantage. The DVD plays until you hit stop on the remote
2. Still easy. If you don't want your (auto-play) movie to loop, you can create a black theme by replacing the background of a static theme with a black background and no content in the drop-zone (text needs to be black as well).
Disadvantage. The menu is still there and will play after the movie. You don't see it, but your disc keeps spinning in the player.
3. Still quite easy but takes more time. Export the iMovie to DV tape, and then re-import using One-Step DVD.
Disadvantage. One-Step DVD creation has been known to be not 100% reliable.
4. (My preferred method) Easy enough but needs 3rd party software. Toast lets you burn your iMovie to DVD without menu - just drag the iMovie project to the Toast Window and click burn.
Disadvantage. you'll need to spend some extra $$ for the software. In Toast, you just drop the iMovie project on the Window and click Burn.
5. The "hard way". Post-production with myDVDedit (free-ware)
Tools necessary. myDVDedit ( www.mydvdedit.com )
• create a disc image of your iDVD project, then double-click to mount it.
• Extract the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders to a location of your choice. select the VIDEO_TS folder and hit Cmd + I to open the Inspector window
• Set permissions to "read & write" and include all enclosed items; Ignore the warning.
• Open the VIDEO_TS folder with myDVDedit. You'll find all items enclosed in your DVD in the left hand panel.
• Select the menu (usually named VTS Menu) and delete it
• Choose from the menu File > Test with DVD Player to see if your DVD behaves as planned. If it works save and close myDVDedit.
• Before burning the folders to Video DVD, set permissions back to "read only", then create a disc image burnable with Disc Utility from a VIDEO_TS folder using Laine D. Lee's DVD Imager.

hope this helps!

After upgrading to mountain lion, my ip camera video feeds time out
I've been using my iMacs for a few years to monitor six ip Camera video feeds. The cameras I use are both FOSCAM and AXIS brands. I've used a few third party software solutions to do the monitoring, but I could also always use Safari to access a camera at a time by putting that camera's IP address in the address field and logging into the camera.
After upgrading to Mountain Lion, my video feeds started timing out when using DComplex's IP Camera Viewer, so I thought initially it was strictly an issue with that third party app. However, I then logged into my cameras using Safari and they timed out as well. Similarly, when using Axis Camera viewer, my video feeds would time out. It seems as whatever the issue, it does not affect Firefox, because I can still login and monitor 1 feed at a time using that browser without any timeout issues, and for some odd reason, the FOSCAM only program uFoscam works, but the problem for me with that app is that it only works with Foscam, and not the Axis cameras (besides it's an inferior program to IP Camera Viewer in my opinion as well).
Has anyone encountered this problem and come up with a solution? I'm thinking it's some sort of plugin or video codec problem, but it's well above my paygrade to figure it out.I'm having the same problem with both my Vivotek wired network camera and Panasonic wireless network cameras. At first I thought this was an issue with the video framework in Mountain Lion, but if Firefox is working (I haven't tried it yet), it sounds like it may be an objective-c video library that has been changed. It's possible Firefox is using an objective-c interface that calls an objective-c function that isn't called by Safari or IP Camera Viewer, etc., (possibly a function that is on its way to be deprecated) or Firefox could use it's own library that directly calls the video framework.
Could be the Mountain Lion objective-c framework has a buffering issue.
Since this is occuring in both 3rd party software and Apple software, it sounds like it's an Apple issue. 3rd party applications typically utilize the Apple Developer objective-c frameworks to access video frameworks/libraries (for example, MJPEG). Thus, contacting 3rd party developers may not solve the situation (unless they can figure out a temporary bandaid--possibly figuring out the video framework call that Firefox uses and patching their software to do the same (not a simple task), but could still provide more feedback to Apple via their developer status.
Has anyone attempted to record from their cameras via iMovie or Final Cut Pro X HD? I will try mine later tonight to see if it records the hanging. If it does, then it's looking more and more like Apple's the culprit.
My suggestion is for everyone to file a bug report via http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html -
Hello folks,
i am discovering the wide world of adobe technologies and i am impressed how seamless all is working.
Anyway i have a tricky problem, at least it seems tricky to me. Here we go: i build up a client (camera+audio conferencing) streaming its camera right to my server (red5). Every client can see the camera streams of each connected particpant. So far so good all is working as expected, we can call this a conferencing solution. Now i would like to improve that by implementing some kind of automatic bandwidth detection in order to adjust the video resolution depending on the current bandwidth "situation" of every participant. Some might have stronger upload bandwidth, some might have a bad or even too low upload bandwidth to even up-stream their video. My client should be able to handle them individually. Those clients who have a good upload bandwidth should be able to up-stream their video in the most high resolution as possible regarding their bandwidth. For those clients having a bad upload connection i assume to reduce their video resolution automatically. The aim behind this automatic bandwidth detection should be to give the most priority to the audio streaming by taking care to not overhelming the bandwidth with heavy camera usage.
I know there is upload speed tests (onBWCheck, etc), but i assume this test is annoying for the participants as well as they are not reflecting dynamic changes.
So lets say i start with a default camera resolution of 640 x 480 px for every client. What i need to know is in general two informtion in order to judge about the current bandwidth is enough for the currently up-streamed camera video:
1) the actual bandwidth used for the up-streaming camera video (based on specific resolution, quality and fps) which is of course dynamicly changing
2) the max. needed bandwidth which is necessary to perfectly up-stream the camera video regarding the specific resolution, quality and fps of the camera settings
So here is my current solutions:
1) the actual bandwidth: every second the currentBytesPerSecond() method of the NetStreamInfo object is of my uploading stream is called to get the currently used bandwidth speed (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/flash/net/NetStreamInfo .html#currentBytesPerSecond). The documentation says about the currentBytesPerSecond() method: Specifies the rate at which the NetStream buffer is filled in bytes per second. I understood from that phrase that literally this is the amount of bytes filled into the network depending on the current network situation. I tested this by using bandwidth limitation and in fact the currentBytesPerSecond() returns the dynamicly changed amount of bytes sent through the network. So thats pretty OK.
2) the max. needed bandwidth: here i struggle. I have three principal ideas to know how much bytes/second are max. needed to up-stream the camera video to the server in a proper way:
* either by experience, which means i manually make several tests to know the max. bytes/second needed for every possible specific resolution, quality, fps (i discovered that different cameras can even produce different results with the same camera settings!)
* calculate the needed bytes/second (actually i use the H246 codec)
* or finally the most crazy but maybe most proper solution: beside the up-stream to the server the client streams additionally to the same client application over the localhost network. I find this last attempt the most interesting because it gives very practicaly accurate result how much bytes must be send because almost the bandwidth of the network through the internet isnt used either. The client sends a stream to himself over the internal network IP (localhost, 127.0.0.1). To achieve this i tried to let the NetConnection being connected to localhost and null and publish the video. But the stream didnt worked. Here is my code:
private function init():void {
nc = new NetConnection();
nc.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS, netStatusHandler);
nc.connect(null);
ns = new NetStream(nc);
ns.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS, netStatusHandler);
ns.client = {};
var camera:Camera = Camera.getCamera();
if (camera) {
videoDisplay.attachCamera(camera);
} else {
Alert.show("You don't seem to have a camera.");
ns.attachCamera(camera);
ns.publish("streamname");
mainTimer.addEventListener (TimerEvent.TIMER, onMainTimerTickHandler);
mainTimer.start();
private function onMainTimerTickHandler (evt:TimerEvent): void
info.text += Number(ns.info.currentBytesPerSecond / 1000).toFixed(2) + " kBytes (OUT)\n";
private function netStatusHandler(event:NetStatusEvent):void {
info.text += event.info.code+"\n";
The result is a connection success, but the stream didnt send any data due to the fact that ns.info.currentBytesPerSecond returns 0. Also strange is that the NetSteam or NetConnection didn't return any error.
So folks here i struggle and i ask does anyone out there have any hints or ideas how to solve this tricky one?
Thanks in advance,
MarkusThanks,I have read that article. Based on that article the NetStreamInfo.maxBytesPerSecond is not an accurate measurement to base dynamic switching on. This seems to be the basis of the bitrate switching in both the longtail player, and the adobe examples that I have tried. That article suggests using the dropped frames property, in conjunciton with bufferlength to determine if switching is neccessary. Unfortunately I can't seem to find a player online which handles this successfully. That being said, I can't believe I'm the only person trying to implement dynamic bitrate switching for live streams so surely there are some players out there which can do this successfully? If anyone knows of any code available which does this successfully I would appreciate knowing where! The examples provided by Adobe https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?e=fms35 unfortunately don't work either.

Video iPOD.. playback stops then video starts.. no audio
I have had the video ipod for @ 1 month .. I put a few movies from a dvd using Videora and DVD Decrypter and they worked great. Then, I believe, after the iPOD software update now the original movies and new movies work for short while then it looks like it pauses.. then the video starts back up and works fine but I have no audio.
I'll copy and paste instructions on how to roll the iPod back to a previous install WITHOUT having to deleted it all and start over. They were:
This is step by step what I did (on a Windows system)
Step 1: Make your ipod a hard disk.
Open your ipod options in itunes and click the option making your ipod an external drive.
Step 2: Make sure you activate "Show Hidden Files and Folders" on your computer.
Step 3: Go into "My Computer" (with your ipod connected) and open up your ipod by clicking on that drive.
Step 4: Select the "iPod_Control" folder and then select the "Device" subfolder.
Step 5: There is a file in there called "SysInfo" -- open it.
Step 6: When I did this, my computer asked me what I wanted to open it with... I chose the generic text reader. When it opened, there were several lines of text, I found where it said "buildID" and then I replaced the number that was there with: 0x05108000 (6.1).
Step 7: Close this text file. It will ask you if you want to save, and yes, you do.
Step 8: Now run an older updater, either Updater 2005-11-17.exe or iPod Updater 2005-10-12.exe. You may have this in your ipod folder (probably under "Program Files") or you can load it using the software that came with your ipod. When it loads, make sure you click "UPDATE" instead of "RESTORE"
That should do the trick. If you still have problems, please state what specifically they are and I'm sure that I, or someone here with more knowledge than me, can help. -
Possible to include camera videos into iDVD Slide Show?
I would like to include the short camera videos with my still pictures in a slide show, is IDVD or iPhoto slide show capable of this.
My nephew used a program (ROXO -I think) on his PC to do what I am attempting on my MAC - can someone tell me if they have been able to do this using Apple's programs.
RonHi Peter,
One question I do have is that if I "assemble" the pictures and movie clips in iMovie, then export them to iDVD..
..What about incorporating that with the Themes and structure that iDVD uses ??
Not sure I understand your question. iMovie is for editing movies (including still images). iDVD is for publishing a DVD using movie and still image assets. iDVD cannot edit any of the imported assets. The themes in iDVD are for setting up menu pages that allow the viewer to control the flow of the movies/still images, e.g. you can set up a button to start a movie, a button to start a slideshow, a button to a submenu with movie chapters.
It's a shame you can't drag'n'drop movies into iDVD like you can picures - Would make iDVD even more useful and powerful.
You do able to drag'n'drop a movie into iDVD, this will add a button on the menu page. It is just not able to "assemble" multiple assets into one long movie, that requires iMovie. -

Hi Ric,
The Canopus ADVC-100 works fine with FCE. Here are a few tips -
First, make sure you only connect or disconnect it from your Mac when both your Mac and the ADVC-100 are turned off. Make sure that your camera video-out is connected to the s-video port on the front of the ADVC-100. Ditto for the audio connections. Only DIP switch 2 (IRE level) should be in the ON position. Connect a FW cable from your Mac to the 6-pin FW port on the back of the ADVC-100.
Second, once they are connected via FW, make sure the ADVC is turned on and actually in analog-in mode before you start FCE. I have often found the ADVC-100 resets this mode by itself after being turned off or idle for an extended time. (All you need to do is hit the silver button once or twice, depending on the current mode, in order to switch it into Analog-in mode.) If it is not in this mode, FCE will not detect the ADVC and will act as if there is no device connected. (Normally there is a warning message if FCE fails to find a camera or ADVC connected however if you turned off that message at some earlier time you would not see it again.)
Third, you can use either the DV-NTSC or DV Converter easy setup in FCE. I have used both with my ADVC-100 and they both work. -

Own two iphone 5s with ios 7.0.2 loaded. Both phones do not allow camera video to start. Anyone else with this issue? Any suggestions how to correct?
Hello markittwo,
Thank you for details about the issue you are experiencing with recording video after upgrading to iOS 7.
The first thing I recommend is quitting and relaunching the applications on your iPhones:
Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
You can find the full article here:
iOS: Force an app to close
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5137
If you are still seeing the same issue after quitting and relaunching the Camera app, I recommend restarting your phones and then resetting if recording video still not working:
Restarting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Note: Reset your device only if you are unable to restart it.
Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
You can find the full article here:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
If the issue persists, the last thing I recommend is backing up and restoring your iPhones:

Trying to place an image before a video starts
I have a very preliminary website with some flash and video. It passes the validator. The flash and video work but the video software isn't able to show any of the video until someone presses the play button - it just shows a black box.
According to the video software provider, their player can't show a preview image. I wonder if it's possible to "overlay" an image with the same div, then have it disappear or move to the background when the play button is clicked.
Failing that, does anyone know of a similar program which can insert a video easily into Dreamweaver? The one I'm using was cheap and easy but if it can't/won't do what I need it's a waste of time and effort.
For some reason I can't paste the code...I don't think the suggested method (<div> background image) will work with the example Web page video you linked to.... here is why...
Inside the <div> is code for a special Windows Media Player... (not a very good choice by the way)... meaning that the <div class="videobox"> has content (the video player) which will cover over the background image.... leaving the black box and some controls showing.
Code also contains an IE conditional statement and nothing in the
<!--[if !IE]>
so nothing displays in FF.... nix all that player code and use something else.
A better route (in my opinion) would be to first choose a better video type than mpeg (better compression and quality per file size)... choose an mp4 for example.
Now you have a much wider range of player options.
For example:
http://flowplayer.org/
http://www.pickleplayer.com/
http://www.longtailvideo.com/players
Any of these players plus an mp4 file would be much better than your current choice. They all support a "poster frame"... or image that displays before the video starts.
If you need to convert mpeg to mp4, Handbrake does a good job:

I am trying to determine the new project preset for a multi-camera video shot as follows: 3 Canon camcorders,
Main shot is DV (tape) (720x480, 29fps) - ceremony and reception
b-roll is DVD (mini-disk) (720x480, 29fps) - bride preparations
additional b-roll is AVCHD (1920x1080, 29fps) - groom preparations and misc all day ceremony and reception.
Film is from a wedding, DV contains main footage so I assume it will need to be the base. I am planning to use the preset for DV-Widescreen. Is there a better option? I'm concerned about playback as the three appear to have different PAR. I'm using Premiere Elements 10 on W8.
Ultimately this will be burned for two formats - one for a DVD that can be watched on a widescreen TV, second for a short clip trailer to go on vimeo.
(And no I won't be doing this again for a wedding that I shoot.)VDRAVES
Please review since I am not sure how you obtained Video 3 tall when you scaled Video 3 with Constrain Proportions in effect.
Before
After
It becomes a zoomed in effect to get rid of the black borders. But, there is no tall and thin involved anywhere.
And, after the Scale increase, you can always click on the screen and move the image around a bit
(without overdoing it to get black borders again).
After and an adjust
Please let us know if you are OK with the information above.
Thank you.

I'd like to import my camera video to a hard drive attached to a Mac Pro. Has anyone been successful doing this? Please help?
If you use iMovie, you need to import it into iMovie.
What storage does your camera have? SD card? That's easy: plug it into Mac and then drag the footage from the SD card to the external drive.

Trouble pairing Mac 10.8.5 with BOSE Soundlink Mini
I have trouble paring my iMac 10.8.5 with BOSE SoundLink Mini
