can a component be rotated an angle?

Generally, no. You'd have to extend the existing component to support rotation.

  • How can Automator or Applescript rotate 500,000 images in folders and subfolders.

    Hi Everyone,
    I have very specific question.
I've got 500,000 images that sit in 98 subfolders. Some of the subfolders contain 25,000 images.
Now my question: is there any script/automator workflow that I can use?
I was trying to create a workflow:
    1. Ask for Finder Items
    2. Get Folder Contents (tick repeat for each subfolder found)
    3. Rotate images
It works OK, but only for these folders where there is less than 4,096 files:
I normally receive following error message:
'Rotate images failed - 1 error
too many arguments (12019) -- limit is 4096'
Is there any way to increase this limit or create completely different apple script?
I really hope that someone will help me with this one.
By the way my OS is Mountain Lion
    Thank you

well, there are a couple of possibilities here:
system events is quitting (it will do that on its own after a few minutes of inactivity) and he script is getting confused when it has to restart
the file 00353391301.JPG is not a valid image file (corrupt data, or an unsupported file format with the wrong extension, or the wrong type of file entirely, or something like that).
so, covering the bases, try this revision:
set folderToProcess to choose folder with prompt "Choose a folder to process"
set folderPath to quoted form of POSIX path of folderToProcess
-- 13 is a spotlight constant for images that I can't find documented anywhere (I got it by saving a spotlight image search in the Finder and examining it in a text editor).  FYI.
set fileList to paragraphs of (do shell script "mdfind -onlyin " & folderPath & " '_kMDItemGroupId == 13'")
    tell application "Image Events"
-- tell image event not to quit itself
              set quit delay to 0
              repeat with thisImageFile in fileList
                        try
      -- open the image file
                                  set openedFile to open thisImageFile
                                  tell openedFile
-- you didn't specify which way or how much you wanted to rotate.  this rotates them 90° clockwise
                                            rotate to angle 90
-- save back to same file
                                            save
                                  end tell
                        on error errstr
-- image events had an error - dislpay alert, then skip this file
                                  my displayError(thisImageFile, errstr)
                        end try
              end repeat
-- reset Image Event's automatic quitting
              set quit delay to 900
    end tell
    on displayError(thisImageFile, errstr)
              tell application "System Events"
display alert "Image Events Error" message "file : " & thisImageFile & return & return & "error: " & errstr
              end tell
set imageAlias to POSIX file thisImageFile
              tell application "Finder"
set label index of item imageAlias to 1
              end tell
    end displayError
This makes three changes - it tells Image Events not to quit itself during script execution, it expands the error handling block to cover all the Image Events functions (this will report more detail and not interrupt further processing), and as a convenience labels any problematic file orange in the finder so it's easier to find.
Also, I should point out that adayzdone and ludwip are presenting orthogonal approaches (one that finds files using the unix 'find' utility rather than mdfind, and one that's entirely unix-based using the underlying sips utility).  Treat each approach as its own thing; don't get confused and try to implement parts of each of them. People on this forum sometimes forget how confusing help can be when helpers are working off of different models and fail to thoroughly contextualize their posts.

  • How can I save a rotated pdf file?

I have received a pdf file of many pages in landscape orientation that need to be saved in portrait orientation.  I know how to rotate the file, but how can I save the rotated document?

    Hello Laurie,
Unfortunately this does not work with Adobe Reader, but with Adobe Acrobat or similar programs (Google could be your friend ) BUT you could try Acrobat free for 30 days, if you'd like. See www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html for more information.

  • How can I view then rotate or crop duplicate images

My wife has a large photo collection (50,000+ images) and has created a copy of a hundred or so pictures to include in a video I'm working on.
The problem is that I can't get Elements Organizer to display these images because they are "duplicate images".
I had to switch to "Display | Folder Location" mode to even find the directory.  When I did I noticed the 10 subdirectories had not been imported, so I tried to import them and got this error:
Nothing was imported.  The file(s) or folder(s) selected to import did not contain any supported file types, or the files are already in this Catalog.
I realize that they are duplicates but I WANT to see them so that I can edit them (crop, rotate, etc).
    (Q) Is there a way to get Elements to "jump" me to the  original photo so that I can rotate or crop the "original".  NOTE: I  would use the Version Set feature or save my edits as a "new image"  altogether.  I think if this worked, I could create an "Album" that has the "duplicate" photo's my wife  has given to me and achieve what I need to do.
I'm brand new to Elements (previously I used ACDSee and it could do this without any hassle).  I've heard and read that Elements 9's Organizer is much improved so I wanted to give it a try.
    (Q) Does Elements have a simple checkbox to allow me to work with duplicate images?
    (Q) Is the solution to create another catalog?    I've done this to work around this problem (for now).
    Also
    (Q) Does Elements 9, have a way to show all of the images in all of the folders underneath a given folder?  I found that if I have a directory that contains 10 sub-directories, when I'm in the top-level directory no images are shown.  In ACDSee, it would show me all of the images under a given directory including all of the sub-directories.  Is this possible to do in Adobe Elements 9?
    Thanks for any help.

The organizer is not a browser, it is a database : even if it can show photos in your folders structure, it only works on the files wich have been 'imported' and registered in the catalog. It can show your registered pictures displayed according to the real folder structure based on the paths registered with each present file, but you'll have problems if some upper level folder is empty.
On the other hand, the items registered in a catalogue can't be duplicates, and the Organizer prevents duplicates to be registered. There is no simple one click way to override this constraint, which would mean a different database 'key', that is to rename the duplicates you want to register.
Practical way : since you have to rename the duplicates before importing them, you could do this directly in Windows or any other freeware like Faststone photoresizer.
Or you could open those pictures directly from the editor, browsing in your folder structure.
Imagine you have duplicates in a folder and want to rename them and import them using only PSE :
    - From the editor, use the 'process multiple files' to export the files from this folder and rename them, for instance 'IMG_0012.jpg' + 'dupl' stating the same destination folder
    - Try again to 'get files and videos' from the organizer.

  • How can u have lock rotation off and mute feature off at the same time

How can u have lock rotation off and mute feature off at the same time

Maybe this will help. The link at the bottom is the same one that was posted above.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.

  • How can I get the rotation information of my wrists in Kinect for Windows v2 ?

    Hi,all
Assuming we make human wrist as the coordinate origin point of a three-dimensional space Cartesian coordinate, then when moving the wrist freely, what is the wrist rotation information in the coordinate system? Can kinect V2 describe it just like the degree
of roll, pitch and yaw in Face Basics demo given in the V2 SDK Browser?
Based on Kinect Studio 2.0 on 3D View model, it gives a vector arrow at each joint in real time, when I move, the direction of arrows changes correspondingly. So I think this may help me to get the information I want.
    Here are my questions:
    1. Could I use Kinect V2 SDK to detect and output this information directly? If not, any suggestion to use the data which SDK output to get rotation information?
    2. If the Q1 answer is yes, what is the accuracy of the sensor about the degree of roll, pitch and yaw on wrist?
    3. I have read Kinect V2 SDK documentation about the body class, the JointOrientations property description says that "the joint orientations of the body", what I want to know is the joint orientation based on
what frame of reference? The specific value of body.JointOrientations looks what kind of data?
Any advise or guidance would be greatly
    appreciated.

Thanks Carmine. It's really helps. But I still have some questions to ask.
As you said "a quaternion value, where the
Y component rotation is around the direction vector from the parent",and you also said "The
orientation value is ...not the rotation from the parent",my English is poor so I am a little bit confused.
About the accuracy, What is the level of accuracy under ideal conditions?
    And in what circumstance
that "value could be 180 rotated" thing could happen?
    Thank you for your time

  • Can Acrobat 10 Pro rotate a page by a user-specified amount?

I scanned some pages of text but they didn't feed into the scanner perfectly straight, so when I open the pages they're rotated clockwise by about 1 or 2 degrees. I'd like to rotate them counter-clockwise by 1 or 2 degrees so that the lines of text are perfectly horizontal.
I have Acrobat 9 and it can rotate pages by only 90 or 180 degrees. For those of you who have Acrobat 10, could you check and see if it offers the option for the user to specify an angle for page rotation? Or does it still support only 90 and 180 degree rotation?
If Version 10 supports user-specified page rotation then I'd have a reason to upgrade (are you listening, Adobe?).
    Thanks,
    Scott

You are overlooking the deskew option under Optimize Scanned PDF. That will automatically align the page.

  • Where can i get a 45 Degree angle adapter for the laptop end of the G6 power supply.

I am annoyed by the power cord sticking out at 90 Deg from the right side of my G6 Notebook . the plug obstructs the usb mouse and i am looking for a 45 Degree adapter to solve this problem.
If HP make one of these then where / what site can i get it from .
If HP do not make this type of adapter than can anyone let me know if they have seen a website so i can buy one.

What is the exact model of the notebook?
I am not certain about a 45 degree adapater, but most adapters are either straight or 90 degrees.
Here is a list of various adapters.
Even though the adapter you have may be at a 90 degree angle, it should be able to rotate to where the cord is not blocking any necessary ports.
Let me know the exact model and product number so I can give something that is a little more specific.

  • IMAQ ROI rotated rectangle ANGLE calculation

I am using IMAQ Construct ROI to construct a rotated Rectangle ROI. The resulting contours give coordinated of the top and bottom points of the rectangle before rotation and a fifth number indicate the angle. But can anyone tell me how can i calculate the angle in degree from this value, so that i can calculate the exact points of the rotated rectangle?
Is there any other method to find the actual coordinates of the 4 edges of the rotated rectangle? My intention is to find some points in between these edge points, which i can calculated with simple trigonometry by knowing the angle of rotation.
    Thank you in advance,
    Mathew

The angle of rotation is about the center of the rectangle.  I think the angle is already degrees.  If you calculate the center of the rectangle and subtract it from the corners, you have the coordinates to be rotated.  The easiest way I have found to rotate coordinates is to convert them to a complex number, multiply the complex number by the angle IN RADIANS, then convert back to x, y.  Add the center of the rectangle back to the rotated coordinates and you are done.

  • How can I create a rotating basketball image in Motion?

I need to have a basketball rotate and do a full 360 degree. I took an image from Google Images and dragged into Motion and applied the sphere filter. Is that the best 3D looking basketball I can get from a 2D image? Thanks!

You need an unrolled basketball image and wrap that around a sphere...

  • Can't turn auto rotate off!

Hi, I got my Xperia Z1 today, and have now checked out everything on my new phone now, and I have just. discovered that I can't turn off the auto rotate feature
Not sure if this happened after I updated to 4.3
This is really annoying, I have tried to restart the phone, turn auto rotate off and on again in both the screen settings and the shortcut in the scroll down "menu"
Anyone got any tips or tricks for me to a fix?
    Would appreciate it much

  • Can you apply the Rotate Spreads Feature?

    Hello,
    Hope someone can help me...
In Indesign CS5 you can rotate the spreads and this then gives you the arrow icon next to the spread to indicate that it's a rotated view; what i'm trying to do is apply that rotated spread so it's not just the view, it is actually how the document is - is this possible? and if so how??
(what i'm trying to do is turn the last 100pages (50 spreads) of a 200page book upside down without having to re-layout all the artwork etc)
    Hope someone can help?!
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Thanks for the info - my plan (for this one) is to order the pages as needed and rotate afterwards in acrobat; it's what i was going to do before i thought, can you apply rotations!? It isn't ideal as there's a slight offset needed for the bleeds and alignment so the hanging points etc will differ in the 2 setions (it won't really be noticeable but I'm one of those fussy designers!) and i was going to use it as a template for some other work I'm doing but it's no problem - just wont change my mind next time. It was more a question of can it be done as I think it'd be useful.
    Thanks for all the advice

  • Can I create a rotating image with sevaral images in  Photoshop?

I was wondering if I can  create   a rotating image with sevaral images in  Photoshop?    Much like a gif? Would this improve my page load time or would it be the same as loading a slideshow?  Here is an example of what we wanna do vacationsalabama

Yes you can create a gif in PS to do this but it would be much easier to accomplish with some simple JQuery Image slider.
    Several examples here
    and here
The benefit is they load faster, have speed options, and switching images out is a breeze. They can also have links asigned to the images as they appear.

    Hi, Dannyboy
You can open the sequence in SimpleMovieX, rotate it 90 degrees (View > Resize Movie...), then save RefMovie. Give it a different name, like rotated.mov
Then drag rotated.mov into your iMovie project.
