Can a filename be built from vairables?

Hi there,
Another question from me: when creating an output flat file using my custom OTD's, can I build a unique filename using values from variables like %d for the date, %t for time, etc? And can I also fill a variable from the data in that file, like Store Number and then use the content of that variable to be part of the file name?
Thanks for your answers,
Kind Regards,
Richard

hi richard,
yes of course you can just set the filename on the outgoing otd to pattern then use these patterns and maybe your variables to build a sufficient filename....
see http://developers.sun.com/docs/javacaps/designing/dotdcommadptr.agxlr.html for patterns
we do have a function in all our outgoing batch adapters that replaces well known vars (from message properties) in the filename like
%y%y%y%y.%M%M.%d%d$FILENAME$$DATATYPE$ which results in a filename like
2008.04.02.SomeFileSapIdoc

  • Can OBIEE handle hierarchy built from different dimension tables?

Can I build an hierarchy with values at various levels appearing from other dimension tables in the model ?
    Thanks

    Hi,
if you want to drill in Answers from an attribute of a dimension to the attribute of anothr dimension, you can use the Preferred Drill Path inside the level of an hierachy.
    For example:
    Dime Time
    -Year
    --Month
    ---Day
    Dim Geography
    -Continent
    --Nation
    ---City
If you set in the Month level of the Dim Time the Preferred Drill Path to Nation, in Answer when you drill from Month you see Nation.
    I hope it helps.

  • How can I do a clean uninstall of packages built from source?

I want to remove older versions of Ruby (but not the one packaged with Snow Leopard) from my development machine. I have a couple versions that were built from source that are unused now. How can I do a clean uninstall of those types of packages? I don't think there is any "make" command that will uninstall, so other than just deleting the folders that I think contains the older versions, I'm not sure how else to do it. Any ideas?

mickey13, if its Makefile doesn’t have a target for uninstalling, then the next best thing would be to run *make -n install 2>&1 > /tmp/install* to get a list of what it does at installation time, and then edit the /tmp/install file to remove the files that it copied over on installation (or to undo the edits that it made to previously existing files).

Depends which iMac exactly and your network setup, you can go into System Preferences and under the Sharing pane you can enable internet sharing from ethernet (or whereever you get your internet from) to Wi-Fi.

All the iPad 2 apps running on iOS 5 that are compatible with the iPad 1 will be put on your iPad 1. Those apps that require a camera will not appear because the iPad 1 does not have a camera.

  • How can I use the built-in Isight camera with an external camera (usb/firewire) at the same time?

How can I use the built-in Isight camera and an external video camera at the same time?
I'm wanting to stream over Oovoo/Skype/etc. using 2 cameras.
    Thanks

Simple question with a not so simple answer.
    (a) If you mean that you want to run multiple apps simultaneously using a different camera with each app, you may encounter computing power limitations.  Digital video is processor intensive.  The only way to know if your Mac can do this it to try it.  If the video does not work together but each app works when it it the only app running, you are likely overloading your Mac's ability to process and/or move all the required data in your data bus.  You can get a better indication of whether this is the case by watching your Activity Monitor utility while running the apps you want to use.
    (b) If you mean that you want to have more than one compatible camera connected to your Mac simultaneously for ease of changing between video sources, some, but not necessarily all, apps you are using to operate your camera(s) allow you to select between your cameras.
How you select among connected cameras depends on which application you are using. Here is how camera selection works in a few examples:
    (1) For iChat, you can choose which iSight you use in the "Camera:" choices bar in iChat > Preferences... > Audio/Video that appears when more than one compatible camera is connected. Although your camera choices will be different, the choices bar will look something similar to the Preferences settings shown here:
If you cannot see the "Camera" choices bar, your Mac is recognizing only one (or none) of your cameras. In that case, consider the suggestions fromhttp://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090 for iSight problems or refer to your other camera's documentation for help.
This particular choices bar solution applies ONLY to iChat. Most other applications also have settings that allow you to choose which camera to use. However, they do not all work the same way.
    (2) For instance, iMovie HD's camera choice is NOT set via Preferences. When you have more than one compatible camera connected, iMovie6 HD uses a drop-down menu choice something like this (depending on which version of iMovie you use):
Note: Because I had no built-in iSight connected when I made this example, and because my external iSight was not connected, the drop-down menu showed only "Time Lapse." Because your Mac has a built-in iSight, your built-in iSight would show in the drop-down menu even when no other camera is connected. Connecting an additional Mac compatible webcam should allow you to choose either camera.
Other iMovie versions work slightly differently.
iMovie 9 (from iLife '11) uses a different camera choice button shown in this article:
      http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iMovie/9.0/en/mov39f84285.html
iMovie 8 (from iLife '09) is slightly different as explained in this article:
      http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iMovie/8.0/en/10172.html
In general, you can use your Mac's help for the application in use to find out how to select among more than one connected camera.
    (3) Photo Booth in Snow Leopard 10.6.x and later uses the Photo Booth > Camera menu command to select which camera to use.
Note for readers with older Mac OS X: The previous version of Photo Booth that came with Tiger (10.4.x) is such a simple, basic app that it offers no menu selectable choice. Unless your built-in iSight is already occupied as the camera being used by some open application before you launch Photo Booth, Photo Booth will use ONLY your built-in iSight.
However, you can use the trick from ¶ 4 of http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302781 to let Photo Booth use an external camera.
(If you have an external Firewire camera connected, it may be used in preference to any USB webcam. If that is a problem for you, merely disconnect the problem Firewire device.)
    (4) For FaceTime, launch the app and click the Video menu item.
If your Mac recognizes more than one connected compatible camera, a "Camera" section listing the cameras from which you can choose will appear there. Clicking on the desired camera name will let you select the one you want as shown in this image from my Mac Pro and LED Cinema Display:
If your Mac recognizes only one compatible camera, the "Camera" section will not appear in the Video menu, but FaceTime will automatically use the connected camera that is recognized by OS X.
    (5) I do not use Skype oir Oovoo.  For those or other apps, see Help for each app for info on how to select your desired camera.

  • How can I read pdf files from LabVIEW with different versions of Acrobat reader?

How can I read pdf files from LabVIEW with different versions of Acrobat reader?
I have made a LabVIEW program where I have possibility to read a PDF document.  When I made this LabVIEW program it was Acrobat Reader 5.0.5 that was installed on the PC. Lather when the Acrobat Reader was upgraded to version 6.0, there was an error when VI tries to launch the LabVIEW program. And Later again when we upgraded to Acrobat Reader 7.0.5 I must again do some changes and rebuild the EXE files again
It isn't so very big job to do the changes in one single LabVIEW program, but we have built a lot of LabVIEW programs so this take time to due changes every time vi update Acrobat Reader. (We have build EXE files.)
The job is to right click the ActiveX container and Click "Insert ActiveX Object", then I can brows the computer for the new version of acrobat Reader. After this I must rebuild all the "methods" in the Activex call to make the VI executable again.
Is there a way to build LabVIEW program so I don't have to do this job every time we update Acrobat Reader?
This LabVIEW program is written in LabVIEW 6.1, but I se the problem is the same in LabVIEW 8.2.

We are evaluating the use of iPod touch devices to record best practice videos on our manufacturing floor and to post to an internal Moodle web site. How can you upload a video from the iPod touch to a site other than YouTube? The Moodle upload interface is expecting a file selection dialog box like windows or OSX. I do not want to have to go through an intermediary step of messing with a pc.
    Thanks!

It should be around 7 and a half gigs. In iTunes, across the bottom there should be a bar that show how much storage is being used and by what. (music, movies, apps, etc.) To make music take up less room, you can check the box to make it convert the music to 128kbps AAC. This lowers the quality, but with most earbuds and speakers, you can't even tell the difference.
The iPod touch has parental controls built in. You'll find them in Settings. I think they only work for enabling/disabling Safari, Mail, YouTube, and App Store. Here's an app that does more: http://www.mobicip.com/online_safety/ipod_touch

  • Can I take a frame from my project and use it as a custom menu background with CS4 and its Encore

My project is edited in CS4.
I moved it to Encore CS4.
I don't want to use any of the supplied menu templates in CS4 Encore.
I was hoping CS4 would be all I needed to create custom menus using scenes from my project.
My question is: Can I take a frame from my project and use it as a custom menu background with CS4 and its built in Encore or do I need some other element from the Adobe catalog to make these custom chapter menus and sub-menus?
    Thanks Jim

OK, I'm back. Here are my steps for creating Custom Menus with PS, En and PrPro:
In PrPro, move the CTI (Current Time Indicator) to the desired Frame. Check Frames on either side, with the Program Monitor’s Magnification to 100%, or maybe even 200% (you’ll need to scroll, but get a really clear picture). You want the clearest Frame in that area. With AME, in CS4, you’ll want to Export that Frame as .TIFF, or .BMP. I use .TIFF for this.
Now, for a caveat. When you Import this Exported Frame into Photoshop, be sure to check the specs., especially the PAR. You may have to use Image>PAR to adjust this to match your Project’s specs. Or, all might be perfect - just check this out.
Now, at this point, I choose the Library Menu, Blank, so that everything is setup. One can create the Menu from scratch, but careful attention needs to be paid to the exact naming conventions. At the very least, unless you’ve done this dozens of times before, use that Blank Menu, or similar as a guide, so you get things done, as they must be done.
Using that Blank Menu, just drag the Layer from your Exported Frame to your Menu image. It will appear above the black Background.
Add, or manipulate your Button Layer Sets, as is required, keeping them together. Remember that Button #1 will be the Button Layer Set, that is lower down in the Layers Palette. This can play a roll with Button Routing, back in Encore. Lower Button Layer Sets will have lower Button numbers.
Now, I always rename my Button Layer Sets, keeping the required characters - just changing the name. I also do all of my Button text in PS, and make sure to turn OFF Sync Button Names.
When done, Save_As .PSD, and then Import_As_Menu into Encore. Note: if you start with the Blank Menu, you can choose Edit in Photoshop, and then when done in PS, you just need to Save, and it will update in Encore. This is a personal workflow choice. I do the Edit in Photoshop route, but it is not necessary. One just needs to Import the resulting .PSD into Encore with Import_As_Menu, so that Encore does all the things that it needs to and recognizes the .PSD as a Menu.
When deciding what to base your Menu on, remember that you can "populate" your Menu with Buttons from the Functional Content. I’d suggest studying these Assets, and picking the ones that work best for you. You can still alter/edit those back in PS, so you just need to "get close."
Pay special attention to the required naming conventions. You cannot deviate from those first characters in the Button Layer Sets. They MUST be followed.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Pages Built from Template not working when put

    Hi,
I am building a site with CS3 and running it to test it on
onother site in a sub-directory - but, although the pages all work
as expected when viewed locally, some are totally blank when put on
    the server - when I view the source they only contain;
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0
    Transitional//EN">
    <HTML><HEAD>
    <META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html;
    charset=windows-1252"></HEAD>
    <BODY></BODY></HTML>
so its not like the page is not there - its just that all the
content has been skipped. I have tried re-putting, deleteing from
the server and reputting - all with no success. Several pages,
built from the same template work great, but just a few are like
    this...
I have searched the net and forum, but can't find a similar
problem - any help would be very gratefully received

OK - I think that I have a system or corruption
problem - I just tried another full upload and now nothing is
working... I'm switching to my laptop to see if the old Dell is the
    problem.

  • Can I import movies originating from video's that were put on a DVD import in IMovie?, Can I import movies originating from video's that were put on a DVD import in IMovie?

Can I import movies originating from video's that were put on a DVD import into IMovie?

You need to convert the VOB files in the TS-Folder of the DVD back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle. For that you need mpegStreamclip:
    http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
which is free, but you must also have the  Apple mpeg2 plugin :
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/D2187Z/A/quicktime-mpeg-2-playback-component-f or-mac-os-x
(unless you are running Lion in which case see below))
    which is a mere $20.
Another possibility is to use DVDxDV:
    http://www.dvdxdv.com/NewFolderLookSite/Products/DVDxDV.overview.htm
    which costs $25.
For the benefit of others who may read this thread:
Obviously the foregoing only applies to DVDs you have made yourself, or other home-made DVDs that have been given to you. It will NOT work on copy-protected commercial DVDs, which in any case would be illegal.
And from the TOU of these forums:
    Keep within the Law
No material may be submitted that is intended to promote or commit an illegal act.
Do not submit software or descriptions of processes that break or otherwise ‘work around’ digital rights management software or hardware. This includes conversations about ‘ripping’ DVDs or working around FairPlay software used on the iTunes Store.
    If you are running Lion:
    From the MPEG Streamclip homepage
The installer of the MPEG-2 Playback Component may refuse to install the component in Lion. Apple states the component is unnecessary in Lion, however MPEG Streamclip still needs it. See this:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3381
To install the component in Lion, please download MPEG Streamclip 1.9.3b7 beta above; inside the disk image you will find the Utility MPEG2 Component Lion: use it to install the MPEG-2 Playback Component in Lion. The original installer's disk image (QuickTimeMPEG2.dmg) is required.
The current versions of MPEG Streamclip cannot take advantage of the built-in MPEG-2 functionality of Lion. For MPEG-2 files you still need to install the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component, which is not preinstalled in Lion. You don't have to install QuickTime 7.

  • 2.4 getting replaced for a 2.66 "built" from applecare?

A tier 2 wants to replace my late 2008 2.4 15inch umbp for the mid 2009 2.66 15inch umbp. He says that it will not be refurbished, however, it will be newly built from the replacement center. I asked him if it would not be refurbished and he said it wouldn't be refurbished at all. What's weird is that he doesn't want me to send in the box that came with my umbp. What do you guys think? Has anyone here have gotten a replacement with a newly built machine, than a replacement from the apple store? I'm also thinking of adding a new applecare warranty on the replaced machine. What do you guys think?
Also, the tier 2 told me that they are only sending the shipping label. I forgot to ask him what type of box I should use to send my umbp back. What I do know is that I have an empty mail in repair box from apple. Can I use that box to send my uni? (with the new label of course).

I just went through this process with our family's iMac.
The machine was replaced with a brand new (non-refurbished) product. The new machine will come as it is boxed for retail sale, because there is no difference between the replacement product and the product that you could purchase at any retail store. The replacement product will come with the standard 1 year limited warranty, and Applecare can be purchased at any time within that original 1 year warranty. It is exactly like you're purchasing a new machine.
My shipping label was delivered to my email electronically. I used the original "overpacking" box to ship my iMac back to them. That is the brown cardboard box that envelopes the white/black Apple product box for the product.
Apple will not ship you a MBP without the brown overpacking cardboard box. They do this to deflect attention from the shipment. All references to Apple will most likely be "AI" (for Apple, Inc.) on a brown shipping box. When you ship back to them, either use the same brown cardboard box they sent you (with the MBP box inside of it) or the original brown cardboard box (still with the MBP box inside of it).
You should be in contact with an Applecare Corporate Customer Care agent to direct you through this process. You must confirm all this information, that I have told you, with them, prior to taking any shipping action.
