Can a library item be used to personalize a page title?

Hi, I do not think this is possible, but is there a way to use a library item to personalize part of a page title? Thanks in advance, Mark

In that case, you should have your <title> tags within a Template Editable Region so you can use a unique title on every page.
In addition, you should make good use of Heading tags <h1> <h2> and <h3> within editable regions to promote keyword rich content that tells search engines & humans what your pages are about.

  • How can get all the components used on the current page

how can I get list of all components being used on the current page using javascript. I have tried CQ.WCM.getComponentList(CQ.WCM.getPagePath()) but this seems to list all the components available.
    Environment CQ 5.5 Update 1, Widnows 7

You have to remember that once you are in JS, you are only really able to retrieve markup or representations of the DOM.  The markup is the result of a combination of components, which is technically a "server only" concept.  Components are just a way for CQ to organize executable code, so once a page is rendered a component isn't really a thing.  The closest thing I can think of is to list all of the DIVs that represent a component wrapper that are on the page, but this is error prone and clunky.  You could also make AJAX calls back to the server to retrieve a list of the components by node name, but that approach would not return synthetic resources (ones that render, but do not have a node representing them).
Why are you trying to do this?  Maybe someone has a better idea, but this has a bad smell to me.

  • Page personalization without page title bar

    Hello,
we have removed our page title bar in order to save space.
Is there any way to still personalize a page, e.g. through a direct URL to the personalization of a given page, or do I have to enable the page title bar again?

I imagine it might be possible if you...
    1. Take the relevant code from the Page Title Bar iView (which does not have the source code - I will leave it up to you how you want to "get" the source - not sure of SAP's stance on decompiling).
    2. Then create a java iView with the relevant code in it that will perform the personalize functionality. Add a link in the page to launch the personalize function. This link will launch the "personalize" page/code (you will see this in the JAR). You can heavily leverage the existing code. FYI, the iView utilizes the abstract portal component instead of a JSP page. If you are not used to using these, it may be a little confusing at first.
    3. Add this iView to a page; then save the page as a template. Then use the template for all of your pages.
It might take a some effort to make it work with the page. I just don't know. In the default way it works, the page title bar iview is outside the page that it relates to. The option I am suggesting, the iview is within the page.
I haven't done this, but I have created my own page title bar iview so I could add an additional hyperlink in it. When I added it to the framework page, the back and forward links would not enable/work unless I added it above the already-existing page titlebar iView (in the layout), or removed the already-existing iView.  I did not end up using the modified iView, so I never took the time to figure out why.
Now that I think about this, the above option would probably "push" down your content visually anyway(thus you lose space) unless you move it to Dynamic Navigation instead of the page template, so it may be better just to add back the original iview to the framework page.

I wanted to delete a download off my laptop. I put the download in the trash and tried to empty it. All it said was 'The operation can’t be completed because the item “...” is in use.'
The reason I want it to be deleted is because it takes up lots of space and I don't want it.
I don't know how to put the item out of use. Please help me with this problem.

  • Question about using library items in forms

After a long time I am again returning to this perpetual fountain of Dreamweaver knowledge.
I am converting a site from AGL to DW. In AGL I used a separate template for the forms (there are over 10) and used "components" to create the different forms. Each form shared features with other forms but were not identical, all together 5 components. When I converted over to DW the 5 compnents were made into 5 "library items" but neither the form template or the library items work, by that I mean they do not update if I make a change.
Hence I want to make 5 new library items to use in the forms my question is this: when I choose an item to put in the form like a text field or radio button I always get this window.
Though I read the documentation I am still not really clear about the "style" option so I just choose "no label tag." What is this used for? Any examples of how it is used?
Regarding "position" before or after the item, what is this all about? I have been choosing "after form item" but I don't really know what the difference is and what advantages or disadvantages acrue from these choices.
Regarding "Access key" and "Tab index" I sort of have the idea of what it is about but an example of how they work in action would clear up any nebulosity.
But my real puzzle is with the following which pops up at the end when I am inserting a form items.
Since the library items are not separate forms in themselves I have NOT added the form tag because my reasoning is that when I make the new form templates it will have the requisite form tags. Am I correct in this line of thinking? Or do I have to add form tags every time I add form elements to a form? I really don't want to have to do the whole thing over again if I get it wrong. So if one of you kind souls could guide me in doing it right the first time I would really appreciate it.
    I am using a MBP, OS X 10.6.8, DW CS6

To declare constants create a Package-Specification in a pll and deifne all your constants there, something like:
    PACKAGE PK_CONSTANTS IS
      RC_SUCCESS CONSTANT PLS_INTEGER := 1;
      RC_FAILURE CONSTANT PLS_INTEGER := 0;
      RC_YEAR_DATA_NOT_FOUND := 50;
END;Then attach that pll to all your forms-modules, and use it like
    IF rc = PK_CONSTANTS.RC_YEAR_DATA_NOT_FOUND THEN
END IF;A word about exceptions or errors: In my eyes its clearer (and in case of exceptions even better) to raise an exception than to hide it behind return-codes.

  • Relative referencing using library items

    Hi,
I use a menu which is a library item. When the library item
is imported into the html pages, DW changes the relative references
to web pages. Specifically, a link to a page in the main directory
is changed from "../link.htm" to "/link.htm" as the library items
are located in a subdirectory to the main folder.
However, for the links to work, the code needs to be
"link.htm" for the link to work - the "/" confuses the browsers.
Is there any way of changing the settings in DW to not insert
    the "/"?
    Lotte

IF it is a plain html A HREF link in the library item, IF
    it's the correct
path IN the .lbi file, dw will manage the path and it will
    work anywhere in
    the site.
Open the .lbi library item file.
    do a link check, File-->Check Page-->Check Links.
fix any broken links so they work IN the .lbi file.
    A second possible-
    "../link.htm" to
    "/link.htm"
/link.htm is a site root relative path.
IF /link.htm doesn't work- what should it be?
Does this site have it's own domain name, or is it hosted in
    a subfolder of
    another domain?
example urls with the broken links please if things aren't
    clear.

  • Dreamweaver Library Item Etc.

I am starting work on a new website which will have an
extension navigation menu - up to 40 items and with many pages.
Each page on the site will contain this navigation menu. I
want to know if anyone has a work around for the following:
I want to have the ability to edit the navigation menu in the
future and have it populate on every page.
As you may know, the content of the navigation menu differs
slightly on every page (class='current' etc).
Does anyone have a work around to use a Dreamwaver library
item (or other tool) with variance per page?
    Thanks,
    Adi

    > Does anyone have a work around to use a Dreamwaver

    > tool) with variance per page?
Don't use Library items. Use Server-side includes. That way,
    you can just
change the menu file, upload it, and the change appears on
    every page
without any further uploads. With Library items, you have to
    upload every
    page again after each change.
    > As you may know, the content of the navigation menu

    > page (class='current' etc).
It's simple. Give each menu element a unique ID, and on each
    page, just add
a tiny embedded stylesheet that selects the appropriate menu
    'button', e.g.,
    #button3 { ... }
    <a id="button3">whatever</a>

  • DW removes spaces surrounding updated library items

I've filed a bug with Adobe on this issue, but I'm wondering
if anyone else has received a fix for what I consider a
showstopping bug. In a nutshell, whenever I update a library item,
DW removes all spaces surrounding the updated library item, and
will even remove spaces surrounding unrelated library items during
    the same operation.
For example, let's say I have a simple library item that
contains only the character "^". I insert that into a page to
render like this: "| ^ |", using normal spaces in the page code to
separate the three characters. If I then edit the library item to
use the character "-" instead, all updated pages will lose the
    surrounding spaces: "|-|".
I've developed hundreds of library items over the years, and
can reproduce this over the last three versions of DW (8, MX 2004,
MX), on multiple computers using new code or existing sites. If I
edit a single library item, it corrupts hundreds of pages in a
large site, and I have to use special searches to find and fix the
error. I can't believe that noone else is affected by this problem,
or isn't using library items to the extent that I do.
I'd really like to see library item functionality repaired,
and this is my last appeal before finding a replacement for DW, Are
any DW developers monitoring this list?

    > bug is just as capable of affecting SSI
I don't think so. At least, I have never seen it happen. Have
    you?
    > Library items are particularly aimed at professionals
    managing large
    > sites.
I don't think so here, either. Why would one EVER choose a
    Library item
over SSI? On a large site, you would upload hundreds if not
    thousands of
files for each change with the former.

Precisely what SSI does, only better.

This is true - since Library items are design-time tools, you
    take the
bandwidth hit on the upload side of things rather than on the
    fetch side of
    things.
    > I'm hoping that someone at Adobe is monitoring this list
They do not. If you need to communicate with them, you must
    contact them
directly. But you have been told that Adobe is aware of the
    problem at
least twice - is that not enough?

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/dreamweaver/cs/using/WSc78c5058ca073340dcda9110b1f693f21-7e49a .html

Personally, I don't like library items as any changes need to be applied to the document the library item is used in, then each document that uses it needs to be uploaded to the live server, and you might just miss a file or two that uses it leaving you with inconsistencies across your site.
My preference is to use a server side include (SSI) file which are for all intents and purposes, the same thing, but when you update it, you simply upload that one file and it automatically populates the changes across your site whereever it is used on all pages that use it. Much simpler and cleaner.
The only drawback is that you need to be using php, asp etc rather than html... or atleast that's the case in my experience.

  • Saving Navigation Bar as Library Item with CSS working?

I have created a simple navigation bar with a separate color for "over" and saved it as a library item. A warning box indicates that the item may not work the same as the original as the CSS may not be copied. What is the simplest method for correcting this?

If your html docs are linked to an external stylesheet, they will get their styles from the CSS file.
    http://alt-web.com/DEMOS/DW-Link-Stylesheet.shtml
I highly recommend using server-side includes instead of Library Items for menus.  A server-side include file is easier to maintain by editing one file and uploading it to your server. With Library Items you must make changes to the Library Item and then re-publish all pages containing that item.

  • Can we query more than 5000 library items in Sharepoint online library using CSOM?

I am writing a console application to fetch all documents from the SharePoint Online Site. I am worrying what happens if library items grow beyond 5000 items. In my earlier experience from SP2010, I will raise the threshold limit from Central Admin Site
and then perform my CAML query operation. In SharePoint Online Site, is this possible ? If not, is there any alternative to get all the documents above 5000 limit ?

At the moment I wouldn't advise it without using folders.
You can, definitely, add more than 5k items in Office 365 lists. If you design them well and add indexes before you go over the threshold then it should be fine.
HOWEVER, once you go over the 5k threshold you lose the ability to change all the items in the list at once. Which means you can't add indexes to columns, can't add new columns, can't remove columns or perform any large admin task.
Incidentally CAML queries and upping the threshold are either/or options in on-premises installs. CAML is the way forward and can be used without increasing the threshold in the vast majority of cases.
In terms of support the MS documentation is unhelpful:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/office365-sharepoint-online-enterprise-help/sharepoint-online-software-boundaries-and-limits-HA102694293.aspx
There it states that MS only support 5k items in a site list/library.
