Can a page On Load process call Javascript API?

I am trying to use $s_Hide for some page items when the page loads. Can an 'On Load' page process call $s_Hide API? if yes, share code example please?! If not, what is the right way to accomplish it?

Normaly, you can put this script into the region footer. However, you can wrap it into a PL/SQL block like in this example:

Try building some test metadata loads against the sample.basic application to get a feel for how to do it.

Pages not loading completely with JavaScript enabled

This just started in the last day or so. I have Safari extensions disabled.
When I go to the ThinkProgress.org site/blog, I'm getting an incomplete page unless I disable JavaScript. With JavaScript, I'll get the first post on the blog, but nothing else. With JavaScript off I get the site looking pretty much normal.
I get a similar problem if I go to Economist.com and click to read one of the stories. In that case, I get the story's headline, but it cuts off before the text of the article, right after a link to Tweet the story. Again, disabling JavaScript allows the page to load correctly.
I suspect some third-party service is providing a script, which broke in the last day or so, but nobody's paying attention because of the Holidays.
The problem doesn't appear to effect Chrome. Safari was upgraded to 5.0.3 in November, but this problem is more recent than that.
Has anyone else seen this?

Go to the Economist.com site.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari / Preferences then select the Advanced tab. Select the box next to: Show Develop menu in menu bar.
Now click Develop / Disable Runaway JavaScript Timer.
See if that makes a difference.
Otherwise, check Safari / Preferences - Extensions or try disabling Safari plugins, Safari / Preferences - Security.
And delete the cookies associated with those url's in Safari / Preferences - Security. Show Cookies

Loading data into essbase - can't stop the loading process

Hello Everyone
I have built an interface which loads data into essbase.
The interface was working great until last night, don't know why it got stuck in the stage of loading data into essbase
(This is my bonus question, why? does it have anything to do wit hte fact that I have refreshed the database via planning)
Any way, we have tried to kill the loading process by clicking stop on the interface execution in operator, and even after we killed the
session in essbase it was still there in essbase.
Does anyone know why?

I can't answer your questions but ...
I'm really familiar with the fact that trying to stop an execution fail.
The only solution I found is to pass by an agent for all my executions.
With an agent if I have a problem, as an emergency I can stop the agent it will stop the execution...
I'm sure that it is a bit dirty but it works...
And that is better than nothing...
The ugliest and only way I found without agent to stop an execution was to drop a table used by the job (like a I$ table) it forces the failed...

The problem I have is that when I clic on the folder in the tree, the table is fetching the documents twice(like a doble page load). This doesn't happen when my clientListener is of type "selection", but with "selection" I have problems to close the tree.

Page not found after call to API

Hi all,
I have a portal formal that calls a PL/SQL procedure on submit. My procedure has the following lines.
uid:= create_user (p_username, p_password, p_first_name, p_last_name);
wwsec_api.add_user_to_list ( p_person_id => uid, p_to_group_id => p_group_id, p_is_owner => wwsec_api.NOT_OWNER);
wwsec_api.SET_DEFAULTGROUP ( p_groupid => p_group_id, p_username => p_username);
After a successfull call I'm not able to navigate through Portal any more (I get "Page cannot be found" errors). Every page under pls DAD gives me this error, even if I try to call http://server/pls/portal30/ . I have to close my browser and open it again to be able to work.
I tried to change my procedure to have just one line: dbms_output.put_line ('something') and then I was able to navigate after the call.
So I changed again the code and put just the line "portal30.wwctx_api.set_context (p_user_name => 'PORTAL30_SSO', p_password => 'PORTAL30_SSO');" and got the same problem again.
Somebody could explain me what I am doing wrong ?

I'm having the exact same problem!!
Some procedures are calling API's which needs to be run as
PORTAL30. You can make it work for a normal user if you use
set_context like this:
portal30.wwctx_api.set_context(p_user_name => 'PORTAL30',
p_password => 'PORTAL30');
my_special_procedure;
portal30.wwctx_api.clear_context;
BUT - the user cannot access any page after using set_context!
You need to quit the browser and go back to be able to access
portal again... I guess the session is lost somehow.
I've been struggling with this for a few days and still haven't
got it to work.

How to trigger the automated row fetch process and open modal window by javascript api?

I would like to click the one row of column of IR report, to open the modal window of current page. <----------------it is ok. I can use "javascript:openModal('windowID')" to do it.
There is one form in this modal window, Meanwhile, I would like to pass column data to this form.    <--------------------- it is ok also. I can use " $s('P7_ID','column_value');" to do it.
But I don't know how to trigger the "automated row fetch" process of this form to retrieve other field's value in this form.
I tried to use following 2 ways. But failed.
First method:
add one ajax process of "automated row fetch" in "page processing" block, named "get_fetch_data"
when click IR column , call "openModal", and call "apex.server.process ( "get_fetch_data", {}, { success: function( pData ) { } } );" , I tried to call above ajax process to refresh form. It is failed.
Second method:
add one process of "automated row fetch" in "page rendering" block, named "get_fetch_data"
when click IR column, call javascript api "apex.submit" to submit current page , then call "openModal".
such as : javascript:apex.submit({request:'MODIFY',set:{'P7_ID': #ID#}}); openModal('trade');
But it is failed also. the modal page is showed firstly. then page refresh. but modal window will not open again.
I am not sure if my thinking is right. Could you please provide any suggestion?

Hi Ping,
You can try to set the session state of your modal page's primary key before opening the modal page. Use one dynamic action (on click of IR row) with two true actions. First one to set session state of modal page pk, second on to open modal page.
Or you can add the modal page url as link in your report by extending your query:
select ...
,         apex_util.prepare_url( 'f?p='||:APP_ID||':7:'||:APP_SESSION||'::'||:DEBUG||':7:P7_ID'||COLUMN_VALUE ) as link
from ...
This will give you the url of the modal page, with set primary key.

Automating the cube load process

I have created the essbase cube using Hyperion Integration services 9.3.1 as my datasource is the star schema residing in a oracle db. I can successfully load the cube and see the results in smart view.
I want to know how I can automate the data loading process(both dimension and fact) into the essbase cubes either by using unix scripts and windows .bat scripts.

What everyone has shown you is the use of esscmd or MaxL, howevery you stated you are using EIS. Until you get to 11.1 and use Essbase studio, these won't help you. What you will need to do is to go into EIS, then select your metadata outlline. Pretend you are going to build the cube manually. Start scheduling it, when you get to the screen that allows you to schedule it or create a file, create the file only. You will want the name to end in .cbs (Hint, if you select both outline and data load, you will get all the statements in one script)
After you are done, if you look on the EIS server under arborpath\EIS\Batch, you should see the .cbs file you created. It is a regular text file so you can look at it. If you open it, you will see loaddata and/or loaddimensions statements This is what does the work.
To run it, create a batch file with the command olapicmd -fscriptFileName >logfilename

Anybody has experience calling ID API web service in Java

Hello,
as you know we can programmatically update ID objects by call ID APIs (web service). To do that you need to import the wsdl into a java project, generate web service client and call the client to update ID objects.
I've tried this in NWDS CE version. However I got error when generating web service client from the wsdl of the ID web service. Only the BusinessComponentService passed the ws client genertion, the rest web services do not work.
The error I got:

you can also request the web service directly.
For example, you could create a local xml file with the values you want to pass to the web service and configure a file 2 soap scenario within XI itself.
You can create interfaces for each available web service.
You could call this scenario "ID objects generator" or something and save the .tpz for the repository objects of this scenario, since you could reuse it in other projects.
Other than that, in Teched '08, Bill Li showed a lot of proxies developed over Java to consume the ID API web services, and they all seemed to work ok. However I do think he used NW Developers Studio 7.0 (2004s), not CE.
I'd raise an OSS msg with SAP in order to check the problem you're getting.

WAD : Call Javascript Function only on Initial Load

Hi
I need to replicate the functionality found in the web template parameter ACTION_BEFORE_FIRST_RENDERING in a Javascript function. I need to to do this in order to read a querystring parameter, and then perform actions based on that querystring parameter.
Is there a way to either call a function from the ACTION_BEFORE_FIRST_RENDERING command, or how do I call my Javascript function only the 1st time the page is loaded?
I can call the Javascript function from the body onLoad event, but that results in the function being called every time the page loads, which is not what I want ... I only want the function called the 1st time the page is loaded.

Seems you can use this parameter to check :
sapbi_page.m_requestIdValue
The first time a page is loaded, that value is 1. Thereafter, it increases. I can therefore put that check in my onLoad function, and call the stuff I need if it is 1, otherwise leave the function.

Javascript API: how can I jump to library from custom store page?

I have custom store page, and I want to show library page and initiate the download process when user hits download button on custom store page. How can I finish these functionalities with Adobe DPS Javascript API V2? Thanks.

Bug? calling javascript click() on a hidden button causes js error on page

I call the .click() method on a hidden button to cause the page to refresh. This works OK, but when the page comes back up, it has a javascript error on it. It turns out the error is from some javascript that is trying to set the focus on the hidden button that was clicked, which causes an error in IE (This doesn't seem to bother Firefox) .
While I imagine that there are workarounds, why should the underlying faces architecture be setting the focus to a hidden button?
It's easy to duplicate:
Create new page. Add two buttons. For the first, make it invisible (uncheck visible in properties), then cause it to submit a virtual form.
For the second, add this to the onclick:
document.getElementById("form1:button1").click();return false;
Bring up the page, click on the visible button. The page will refresh, and you'll have a nice js error.
BTW: Obviously, I don't want to click one button from another. What I want is a way to cause an action to happen from javascript. I can't imagine it would work to simply submit a form from javascript, so I use this method. It works fine except for the error. Is there a better way to do this?

I don't really see how the use case matters. I gave a very easy example how to duplicate this problem. The reason that I want to do this is that there are many places to enter javascript code that don't allow for an action to be triggered. I have many instances of this. Create a new page. Put an element on it, like an edit box. Put a button on the page. For its action, put:

Pressing this button will cause a page refresh, and then a javascript error.
Use Case: After the user presses the button, they shouldn't be allowed to press or see it again.
