Can a server pool with single server be moved to a different manger?

Can an existing server in a pool running on an OVM manager be moved to a different manger. The pool has only one server and is not HA. If you try to register the server on the new manger by creating a new pool it errors that it has been registered with some other pool. Does anyone know the steps to re register a server and pool with a new manger without reinstalling OVS so that the existing guest VM can be imported through resources on the new manager after the pool is added?
Thanks in advance if anyone can help.
Dave

Greetings,
1- Please power-off and backup your virtual machines.
2- Stop the ovs-agent, remove the local DB and then recreate the local db, i.e..
# service ovs-agent stop
# rm -fr /etc/ovs-agent/db
# service ovs-agent start
3- Empty the /etc/ocfs2/cluster.conf file on both server, "# /dev/null> /etc/ocfs2/cluster.conf"
4- Create a new server pool with VM Manager and import the guests.
For details about Oracle VM Manager please review http://itnewscast.com/chapter-2-oracle-vm-architectural-review

  • Configuring JCo3 Connection Pool with single sign on on non SAP Java server

    Hi Everyone,
    i have configured a connection pool on JBoss as per JCo3 Documentation and is working great.
    Now I need help to configure this connection pool with single sign on so that RFc on SAP ECC systems are executed using end users credential rather than using single user name password used to configure JCo connection pool.
    On SAP Java stack I am sure its possible within Java WebDynpro    and i assume using JCA resource adapter. But what if we don't want to use SAP Java App server.
    Any help will be appreciated.

  • How to deal with single quote (') in a field value?

    I can successfully insert value with single quoet using
    Prepared statement with placeholder(?) construct .
    I can also successfuly use value with single quote(') in
    WHERE clause.
    My question is, is there a way to use string with single
    quote if a Statement like:
    String slqString ="INSERT INTO customers (name, address) VALUES ( 'O'Reilly Bob', 'St Mary's Street') ";
    Statement sqlStmt = con.createStatement();
    sqlStmt.executeUpdate(sqlString);
    The last statement will thow an SQLException because due to single quotes
    Any ideas?

    I think the question was regarding the ' in O'Reily. Use ' twice when using the Statement interface, i.e.
    ("O''Reilly Bob", "St Mary''s Street")
    So that's two single quotes, not a double quote, to successfully insert a single quote, if you know what I mean....
    But like you said PreparedStatement does things like this for you.

  • I can't restore 'library' with support files from Time Machine

    backup - I can't restore 'library' with support files from Time Machine - Ask Different
    Due to an accident, my entire applications folder with all the support files, including plists and caches got deleted.
    I tried restoring by files from the most recent Time Machine backups but I cannot retrieve my applications with the support files.
    I even tried it with migration assistant on a new image.
    Is this impossible?
    Must I start from scratch?
    Details of the ‘accident’
    I was using this app called ‘AppCleaner’ that also automatically deletes related support files which are normally left behind if one simply trashes an Application.
    In the search view, I typed the app name and I selected all the apps in the results using Command + A. Unfortunately, this selected every single Application in the Applications Folder in the background and I trashed and deleted all files.
    Anyway.
    I tried to restore the applications and library from my Time Machine Back-ups but failed to do so because I didn’t have enough space to restore. (I have a 11inch Macbook Air 2012 64GB SSD
    When I tried to restart in recovery mode, I had the same problem, I was disallowed the option to restore using my time capsule backups because my SSD didn’t have enough space for the backup.
    I then tried to restore it to a totally different but new image on a 64GB USB3.0 Sandisk USB Stick, but the process stopped after hours of being stuck around 30.4 percent and the computer was unable to boot, leaving me with a persistent verbose message suggesting it couldn’t identify the os, kernel or anything.
    I finally tried restoring the state using migration assistant on the very same SSD that had my files missing. This happened successfully and I have all my applications in the applications folder.
    But now I have 13GB free (I had 2GB before) and all my application support files, saved states, preferences, caches and customizations are gone.
    Basically, it feels like I just got a new macbook with my documents and itunes folder loaded on to it.
    How can I get my apps back to the pre-deletion state or is this impossible? Do I have to start from scratch? I thought my Time Machine Backups would restore it to exactly the same state, am I wrong?

    Can you simply navigate to your Time Machine backup with the Finder? Treat it like an external hardrive and just look for your old Applications folder. /Applications/
    Also, quite a few apps put config and support files in ~/Library/Application\ Support/
    So you may be able to get the files from there as well.

  • Importing excel files - problem with single quote

    When importing excel files using 1.5, I can't get data with single quotes (') imported.
    When I run the insert statement given in SQLPlus I get "ORA-01756: quoted string not properly terminated", which is different than the error that SQL Developer gives me (see below).
    Also, I have a numeric value shown without a thousands comma-separator in the XLS file that I'm trying to load into a varchar2 field. But, the insert statements have added a thousands comma-separator which I don't want.
    REM Error starting at line 1 in command:
    REM INSERT INTO table (ID, NAME, CODE)
    REM VALUES (2427407, 'Ed-u-care Children's Center', '73,000');
    REM Error at Command Line:2 Column:37
    REM Error report:
    REM SQL Error: ORA-00917: missing comma
    REM 00917. 00000 - "missing comma"
    REM *Cause:
    REM *Action:
    One last thing, TOAD gives a way to automap columns chosen from XLS to the columns in the database. It sure would be nice to have this functionality in SQL Developer.
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Did you consider both to be bugs (i.e., single quote issue and thousands comma separator issue)?
    Thanks

  • How-To Create OVM 2.2.2 Single Pool with Non HA, Single Server

    How to create OVM2.2.2 Server Pool with a Single, Non-HA configuration.
    - Install OVM2.2.2 on target Server: [ovs222a, ip=192.168.0.207]
    (Default install creates ocfs2 file system on /dev/sda3 on my machine, YMMV).
    - Install OVMM2.2.0 or later on another server or VM
    - Remove existing OCFS2 filesystem and repository from [ovs222a] server
    - logon to [ovs222a] as root
    # cd /opt/ovs-agent-latest/utils
    # ./repos.py -l (shows uuid)
    # ./repos.py -d [uuid]
    - Recreate the ocfs2 file system
    # mkfs.ocfs2 -N 8 -T datafiles /dev/sda3
    - Create a new repository on the ocfs2 file system and make it root
    # ./repos.py -n /dev/sda3
    # ./repos.py -r /dev/sda3
    # ./repos.py -l (should show new repository uuid with [R] designation)
    - Edit cluster.conf, ensure only 1 node with ip addr: 192.168.0.207
    # vi /etc/ocfs2/cluster.conf
    - Edit /etc/hosts, ensure ovs222a ip addr = 192.168.0.207, not 127.0.0.1
    (/etc/hosts should look like the following
    127.0.0.1 localhost localhost.local.domain
    192.168.0.207 ovs222a ovs222a.[your.actual.domain.name]
    - Configure o2cb service, take the defaults which will start o2cb service on boot
    # service o2cb configure
    # service o2cb start
    # service 02cb status
    - Using OVMM2.2.0 GUI, create Server Pool

    - LEAVE SERVER POOL IP ADDRESS [BLANK], NOT NEEDED FOR SINGLE SERVER SERVER POOL
    - LEAVE HIGH AVAILABILITY MODE ENABLE [UNCHECKED] (HA not available in single server cluster pool).
    - Set [ovs222a], [192.168.0.207] as Server Pool: MASTER, UTILITY, VM SERVER with correct passwords.
    - Test connection to [ovs222a]
    - Create Pool

    I have a lion server set up to host storage for time machine backups. Is there a limit to how many different computers can back up to the single server to back up. I am only backing up the users folders . The backup drive is an external Drobo with 6 TB. Right now it seems to back up my users all day long. I set their time machine interval to every 5 hours but it still runs all day long and is very slow. Server is on a new Mac Server mini.

    AFAIK, there is no user limit.. it is simply a question of the network load. AFP is a fairly clean protocol.. but TM is not.. it does a lot of testing of the backup.. infact your setting of 5hour gap could well make it worse.
    I would sort out the clients that are doing 100GB backups to a different backup location.. no matter how fast your network.. 100GB takes time to backup.. and over wireless forever.. it will never end.
    I guess some of these clients are on wireless?? I would separate the TM of wireless to those that are wired. No more than 4 or 5 wireless clients to a target device. Otherwise you are saturating your network with backup data. And use 5ghz.. so close by.. it is much faster than 2.4ghz and you will get much better transfer rates.

  • Can Windows Server Backup spread a single backup job across multiple disks if they are not set up as a virtual disk?

    This may be a dumb question, but I can't seem to find any definitive information after having done many, many searches.  Short question is - can Windows Server Backup spread a single backup job across multiple disks if they are not in a storage
    pool or some other RAID/JBOD structure?
    Background:
    I'm running Server 2012 Essentials with all Windows Updates installed.  I have been backing up approx 2.8TB of data (Bare Metal Recovery, C:, S: (shared folders), and system reserved) for the past year+ onto a storage pool made up of two-2TB external
    USB drives.  Backup is slow (takes approx 1.5 days to complete), but generally works.  Not surprisingly I was constantly getting capacity low messages so I decided to increase my backup storage pool by adding a 3TB drive and another spare 750GB drive
    for a total of 7.75TB.  Instead of having four separate external USB enclosures, I bot a 4-bay enclosure - Startech.com model #S3540BU33E to simplify this (or so I thought!).
    The first problem I had was adding the two new drives to the existing storage pool. I think that is because the Startech uses a JMicron USB controller that reports identical uniqueid's for all drives so only one shows up in the GUI interface for creating storage
    pools. After doing research on this, I set up a new storage pool and virtual disk using all four drives via Powershell and thought I was good. However, when the backup ran, it failed after filling the first drive, saying there was no remaining capacity. In
    reality there were three remaining empty drives and there storage pool reported almost 5TB of avail capacity. I assumed this was due to the identical uniqueid issue so I decided to try a different tactic.
    Instead of using a storage pool that combines all four disks into one virtual disk, I just added each of them to Windows Server Backup as individual drives thinking it would manage them collectively. I.e., when a drive filled up during a particular backup,
    it would just start using the next drive and so on. Apparently this was a foolish assumption because the backup failed again as soon as the first disk filled up.
    So now I don't know if this is still an issue with the identical uniqueid's or if Server Backup actually can't spread a single backup across multiple individual drives that aren't in a pool or other virtual disk implementation. Hence, my original question.
    My guess is that it does *not* spread them across individual disks, but I just wanted to get confirmation.
    Thanks

    Mandy,
    Thank you for following up on my question.
    Unfortunately the article you referenced doesn't address what I am trying to accomplish.
    The article focuses on saving the same backup job to multiple disks and rotating the disks between on and offsite for enhanced protection.  However, it still requires that an individual backup job fits on a single disk.
    What I am trying to determine is if a single backup job can span across more than one physical disk (during the backup process) without those physical disks being in some type of virtual disk implementation (e.g., storage pool, RAID, etc.).
    Thanks,
    Gerry

  • Connection pooling with SQL Server 2008 and Tomcat 6.0

    Hello Everybody,
    I'm creating a web application using struts 2.0 , tomcat 6.0 and sql server 2008.

    <res-type>javax.sql.DataSource</res-type>
    <res-auth>Container</res-auth>
    </resource-ref>
    and in my ConnectionThread.java file i've used:
    Context ctx = new InitialContext();
    if(ctx == null )
    throw new Exception("Sorry! No Context Exception");
    DataSource ds = (DataSource)ctx.lookup("java:/comp/env/jdbc/spas_new");

    Hi Karthikeyan,
    This is not the issue at all. I can open the management studio by the same login id and password and also i can make the database jdbc connection from plain java file.
    It does not give me any problem by them.
    I'm unable to find the actual problem. May be i'm missing something in connection pooling.
    Please help.

    You have to modify couple of things. If you are talking to 816 database you should use 817 oci driver.
    You must do java utils.dbping oracle scott tiger dbname
    to check if your environment is set properly or not.
    You need following properties for creating connection pool in config.xml
    <JDBCConnectionPool
    DriverName="weblogic.jdbc.oci.Driver"
    InitialCapacity="4"
    MaxCapacity="4"
    Name="OraclePool-2"
    Properties="user=scott;password=tiger;server=patrick"
    RefreshMinutes="5"
    TestConnectionsOnRelease="true"
    TestTableName="emp"
    URL="jdbc:weblogic:oracle"/>
    Let me know if that works.
    Thanks,

  • Lync 2013 FE pool with two server limitions

    Hi,
    I have some query about Lync 2013 FE pool with two FE servers.
    1. if I deploy two servers in the one FE pool so what happen if one fe server down ?
    2. will windows fabric work?
    Thanks.

    I don't completely agree with this. I have built a few environments with only 2 servers in the Front End pool (despite recommending that three be deployed)
    1. Anyway in the event that one FE fails, users are temporarily disconnected and then the client will re-sign them in to the second server.
    2. Two servers is supported, but not recommended. See this link (it also contains how to handle two servers - scroll to bottom) http://technet.microsoft.com/en-ca/library/gg412996.aspx.
    The biggest issue with only having two servers is losing quorum. If both servers are shutdown at the same time, you can run into issues starting them back up. (it is recoverable by resetting the fabric/quorum, but it's a pain)

  • Lync Enterprise with Single BE Server and Voice Routing

    Hi team,
    I read that the best way for a HA topology is to go ahead with 3 FE server pool(Although MS has said it's workable, many recommend not to). Now this leaves me with another problem, can I go ahead with just 1 SQL Back-End server. I know in this case SQL will
    have no failover. But if we ok with the downtime, will it work properly when the BE is up?
    The front-end includes the following:
    Basic Lync functions
    Mediation
    Monitoring
    Archiving
    Thank you.
    Chris!

    Hi Crypto_J,
    After the Back End Server is up, you could verify if the services of Lync Servers are normally started, and take a test.
    For more details about restoring the Back End Server, please click on the link below.
    Restoring the server hosting the Central Management store in Lync Server 2013
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh202172.aspx
    To ensure high availability for your Back End Servers, you can use either synchronous SQL mirroring or SQL clustering.
    Using one of these solutions optional, but is recommended to maintain your organization's business continuity.
    Best regards,
    Eric

  • Pair enterprise pool with standard server

    My Lync enviroment includes a Enterprise Pool and one Standard server.
    Because i needed a registrar backup solution, i added the Enterprise Pool as the "Associated backup pool" in the Topology.
    After some research i found this line:
    "Enterprise Edition pools can be paired only with other Enterprise Edition pools. Similarly, Standard Edition pools can be paired only with other Standard Edition pools."
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj204697.aspx
    This was about the architecture.
    After the newest update the front end server have the "Backup Service"
    http://www.microsoft.com/de-de/download/details.aspx?id=44084
    But on the Standard Server there is no Backup Service.
    Now i get the following message on both front end server in my pool:
    LS Backup Service - ID 4071
    "Microsoft Lync Server 2013, Backup Service user store backup module has backup data that never gets imported by backup pool."
    So here are my questions:
    -In case of a desaster, would a failover from the the Pool to the Standard Server work?
    I know at the moment it would not work because there is no Backup Service on the Standard Server.
    But in general, would a disaster recover with this constelation work?
    -Why is it possible to set up a backup registrar between a Enterprise Pool and a Stndard Server?
    -Does it make sense to have such a configuration?
    -Why is there no Backup Service on the Standard Server?
    I know that the best practice is a Pool-Pool or Standard-Standard pairing. So please spare me with answers like this.

    It's not only best practice it's the only supported pairing scenario. I think Microsoft state somewhere that it won't actually stop you from doing it, but it's not supported at all.
    I think you might struggle to get an answer to this because I am not sure who would have even tried this (given that it's unsupported and doesn't make a lot of sense - aside from a cost perspective maybe)
    The Backup Service is supposed to be on the SE server if paired, so something isn't right somewhere.
    From a deployment perspective it doesn't really make sense, because the pools are meant to be in parity as whichever pool takes on the other pools users, needs to be able to handle both, so generally speaking Ent pools are designed for larger amounts of
    users (whether or not that be the case) and failing all of those to a Std pool, wouldn't make any sense.
