Can a subquery hosted within a table reference that hosting table?

I have a large table that tracks Orders and Deliveries ("OrderAssign"). The OrderID column has a dropdown with a query that references some other tables that cover order details, like when each Order is due.
I'd like the dropdown query to only display order details for Orders that haven't been filled ("OrderAssign.Filled = 0"). The problem, I think, is that this would mean the query would reference the table that hosts it. Is this possible? I tried
to set up a test case, and got a generic syntax error I've seen many times before when the syntax is correct, but I'm using a SQL structure that Access doesn't like.
This table is linked to SQL, so I could also write a SQL view or function if that makes a difference.
I'm using Access 2010. Thanks!
EDIT: Huh, so I figured out a way, I think. I created a SQL view that filtered the records the way I wanted; then used the Linked Table Manager to create a linked view; then used that linked view in my dropdown subquery.
So I guess my follow up question to this is: is there any reason I SHOULDN'T do this? Will there be any issues with existing records in the table whose values will no longer show up in the constraining dropdown subquery?
EDIT 2: And I think I found the deal breaker. The field doesn't display the first column with the "real" info, the ID#. It displays the second. Once you add a query that doesn't display every row in the table, that query no longer has results to
display for the filtered records. So some of the records display the "real" info, which the users don't want to see, and the open records show the second field. Messy.

I might not be using the right terminology. I have a lot of experience with SQL Server, relatively little with Access. I am doing this for a client who is used to entering data directly into the table, and wants minimal changes. However, the dropdown literally
has thousands of entries, which could be pruned by ~80% if filled orders are filtered out.
The table has "dropdown subqueries" (probably not the right term), which were created like so:
- Go to the Design tab.
- Click on the field you want to modify.
- Go to the lookup tab.
- Change the Display Control to 'Combo Box'
- Change the Row Source to a query, in my case, 'SELECT * FROM LinkedSQLView'
- Format the list as you want it displayed; in my case, the actual ID# is hidden in the first column, and the other ten columns are displayed.
The fields in question are:
- OrderRequestID (Number on Access / Int on SQL Server) - has a dropdown.
- OrderFillID (Number on Access / Int on SQL Server) - has a dropdown.
- OrderFilled (Yes/No on Access / Bit on SQL Server).
Purpose / Background: This table is basically a clearinghouse for entities making orders and other entities filling them. My client sits in the middle and matches everything up. It can get very complicated, because different products qualify for different
orders, and the amount supplied can be smaller or greater than an individual order.

  • Stored procedure for getting host name, host instance and status of that host is it running or stopped.

    Hello all,
yesterday I got one task in that I have to stored procedure for getting host name, host instance and status of that host is it running or stopped.
any body knows where exactly, In which table this details are there in BizTalk databases.
    thanks

Status of the host instance is not stored in the SQL database for you to query the status using stored procedure. You have to either use Powershell or WMI to get the status.
In SQL, following table contains the details about the host like Name, LoginName, IsDisables etc but status of the host instance is not stored in the database.
    SELECT * FROM BizTalkMgmtDb..adm_HostInstance
    Powershell to get the status:

  • GetPivotData with cell reference in a Table

I was told that this might be a better place to post this question than Microsoft Answers for Office.
I have a Table in which I need to use a GetPivotData function.  I need to use a cell reference in that GetPivotData function.  I have done this before with no problem in a normal cell range, but it seems like the syntax when using a Table screws
things up.  Can anyone help me out here?
The GetPivotTable function would normally look like this if not in a Table.
=GETPIVOTDATA("[Measures].[Total Blocked Dollars]",'Sheet2'!$A$4,"[Dim Prod Ctrl No].[By Prod Ctrl No]","[Dim Prod Ctrl No].[By Prod Ctrl No].&[18418]")
That formula sits in a column called "Block" in my Table.  The 18418 sits in a column called "ID" in my table.  So what I have tried is:
    =GETPIVOTDATA("[Measures].[Total Blocked Dollars]",'--Report Blocks--'!$A$4,"[Dim Prod Ctrl No].[By Prod Ctrl No]",concatenate("[Dim Prod Ctrl No].[By Prod Ctrl No].&[",[@[ID]],"]"))
I have tried a few combinations like this but I can't seem to use a cell reference from a table (which requires the [@[field]] syntax) to work with the GetPivotData.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

That's not the issue.  The GETPIVOTDATA function is actually IN a table.  The arguments for the GETPIVOTDATA function need to reference a cell/column in the table, and it's only PART of the argument that needs to be replaced.  In the example
below the 18418 needs to be replaced with the data in the same row of the table in a column named ID.
=GETPIVOTDATA("[Measures].[Total Blocked Dollars]",'Sheet2'!$A$4,"[Dim Prod Ctrl No].[By Prod Ctrl No]","[Dim Prod Ctrl No].[By Prod Ctrl No].&[18418]")
    Does that clarify any?
    Thanks for the response!

  • Can I use a cell value to reference a table on another sheet?

I'm not sure if this is possible and I have had no luck with searches, here is what I am attempting to do...
On my first sheet I have a number of tables, each holding information on a service. Each table is named to match the service name.
On another sheet I have a list of clients that use these services, with the service name (to match the table name on the first sheet) in a cell in the client's row.
I would like to pull data from one of the cells on the Service table to include it in a concatenate formula in the clients row.
I was hoping to be able to use the value of the cell with the service name in it as part of the formula to reference the service sheet...
    For example:
    ="something"&Services::B2::C6&"something"
Is this possible, or is there a way I can work around the auto corrections that numbers keeps applying?
    Cheers

you can construct the text of a cell reference as a string by concatenating information then use the function indirect() to turn the string into a reference.
so you would do something like:
    =indirect("something"&Services::B2::C6&"something")
this is assuming that "something"&Services::B2::C6&"something"  results in a string that would be a valid reference.

    GROUP BY
    BI_WRKFLW.BI_LMN_SRV_AREA
    )WOCOUNT
The sub-query called wocount only involves 2 "tables", namely
    (1) T2
    (2) BI_SO_DET_VIEW_1
(I put "tables" in quotes because T2 isn't really a table; it's an in-line view. Judging by the name, I'm guessing BI_SO_DET_VIEW_1 isn't really a table, either, but it doesn't matter. You have 2 things that serve as tables, so I'll just call them tables.)
Since those are the only 2 tables, you can't reference BI_WRKFLW in WOCOUNT. That table is known inside T2, but not outside of T2.
You can include "BI_WRKFLW"."BI_LMN_SRV_AREA" in the SELECT clause of T2, assuming that doesn't make more rows distinct. T2 will then look like this:
    ...             SELECT DISTINCT
                        BI_SO_DET_VIEW_1.BI_SO_STAT_CD
                        BI_SO_MASTER.BI_WO_WORKORD,
                  BI_WRKFLW.BI_LMN_SRV_AREA          -- New column added
FROM ...Then, inside WOCOUNT, you can use BI_LMN_SRV_AREA like this:
    ...         CASE
                    WHEN BI_LMN_SRV_AREA = '1'
                    THEN '1-SUNDANCE'
                    WHEN BI_LMN_SRV_AREA = '2'
                    THEN '2-GILLETTE'
                    WHEN BI_LMN_SRV_AREA = '3'
                    THEN '3-SHERIDAN'
                    WHEN BI_LMN_SRV_AREA = '4'
                    THEN '4-West/Central'
                    WHEN BI_LMN_SRV_AREA = '5'
                    THEN '5-East/Central'
                    ELSE '0-OTHER'
END                                AS Office,or, to save a little typing:
    ...         CASE  BI_LMN_SRV_AREA
                    WHEN  '1'
                    THEN '1-SUNDANCE'
                    WHEN '2'
                    THEN '2-GILLETTE'
                    WHEN '3'
                    THEN '3-SHERIDAN'
                    WHEN '4'
                    THEN '4-West/Central'
                    WHEN '5'
                    THEN '5-East/Central'
                    ELSE '0-OTHER'
                END                                AS Office,
    Speaking of saving on typing:
    Instead of
    WHERE
                            "BI_TYPE_SERVICE"."BI_PRIM_RATE_SCHED"='001'
                        OR  "BI_TYPE_SERVICE"."BI_PRIM_RATE_SCHED"='001NS'
                        OR  "BI_TYPE_SERVICE"."BI_PRIM_RATE_SCHED"='010'
                        OR  "BI_TYPE_SERVICE"."BI_PRIM_RATE_SCHED"='RHRNS'
)you can use the IN operator, like this:
    WHERE              BI_TYPE_SERVICE.BI_PRIM_RATE_SCHED  IN ('001', '001NS', '010', ..., 'RHRNS')
I hope this answers your question.
If not, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only) for all tables involved, and also post the results you want from that data.
Simplify the problem as much as possible. For example, you would probably have the same problem if there were only 2 o4 3 tables involved in your query. Try to construct a problem that only has 2 or 3 tables, and post only those tables, and the results you want from them.
Explain, using specific examples, how you get those results from that data.
Always say which version of Oracle you're using.

  • How can I display "detailStamp" facet selectively for rows in a table ?

    Hi,
My JDEV version is Studio Edition Version 11.1.1.5.0
I am trying to display "detailStamp" facet selectively .
If I read api in link below
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E26098_01/apirefs.1112/e17488/oracle/adf/view/rich/component/rich/data/RichTable.html
Use the "detailStamp" facet on the Table to include a collapsable content area for each table row. Please note that the height of the open detail area will be a set height based on the height of the detailStamp component. Adding a component that changes in height (like showDetail or panelBox) will by default produce strange results when the detailStamp component's height changes.
Detail Stamp can be selectively displayed for rows in the table by EL binding the "rendered" attribute of the "detailStamp" facet to "true" or "false". The EL binding can contain references to the table "var" attribute since during rendering it will be executed in the context of the row. Disclosure icon is displayed only for rows which have rendered="true".
I can see that i can achieve it by setting rendered property for that facet. BUT this property is not available in Studio Edition Version 11.1.1.5.0

    Hi Frank.
Thanks for your quick reply .
But I am using Studio Edition Version 11.1.1.5.0 . In this version the property RENDERED of f:facet name="detailStamp" is NOT allowed.
    Edited by: user13764942 on Feb 7, 2013 5:48 AM
Put in another way , I want to render the "detailStamp" facet selectively for rows , so for that I need the RENDERED property of "detailStamp" facet. This property is ONLY available in Jdev version 11.2 . I am using Jdev 11.1.1.5.0 so I need some alternative to RENDERED property as this property is NOT available in Jdev 11.1.1.5.0.
Please suggest some way to achieve this behaviour of displaying "detailStamp" facet selectively ....
    Thanks!

Unless I misunderstand the question, you can't do what you're asking to do. Apple doesn't allow you to bypass their store and host public apps on a website. The exception is an enterprise app, which requires an Enterprise account with both Apple and Adobe. This type of enterprise app can be distributed only within the company. If that's what you want to do, you can learn more here:
Digital Publishing Suite Help | Creating viewer apps for private distribution

Another option is to add the development app to several devices and use those for your demo.

  • How can i  change the column label text in a alv table display

how can i change the column label text in a alv table display??
A similar kinda of question was posted previuosly where the requirement was the label text was needed and following below code was given as solution :
<i>*  declare column, settings, header object
DATA: lr_column TYPE REF TO cl_salv_wd_column.
DATA: lr_column_settings TYPE REF TO if_salv_wd_column_settings.
DATA: lr_column_header type ref to CL_SALV_WD_COLUMN_HEADER.
get column by specifying column name.
    lr_column = lr_column_settings->get_column( 'COLUMN_NAME1' ).
    set Header Text as null
    lr_column_header = lr_column->get_header( ).
    lr_column_header->set_text( ' ' ).</i>
My specific requirement is i have an input field on the screen and i want reflect that value as the column label for one of the column in the alv table. I have used he above code with slight modification in the MODIFYVIEW method of the view since it is a process after input. The component gets activated without any errors but while run time i get an error stating
<i>"The following error text was processed in the system CDV : Access via 'NULL' object reference not possible."</i>
i have checked in debugging and the error occured at the statement :
<i>lr_column = lr_column_settings->get_column( 'CURRENT_YEAR' ).</i>Please can you provide me an alternative for my requirement or correct me if i have done it wrong.
    Thanks,
    Suri

I found it myself how to do it. The error says that it is not able to find the reference object i.e  it is asking us to refer to the table. The following piece of code will solve this problem. Have to implement this in WDDOMODIFYVIEW method of the view. This thing works comrades enjoy...

  • How to Maintain Surrogate Key Mapping (cross-reference) for Dimension Tables

    Hi,
What would be the best approach on ODI to implement the Surrogate Key Mapping Table on the STG layer according to Kimball's technique:
"Surrogate key mapping tables are designed to map natural keys from the disparate source systems to their master data warehouse surrogate key. Mapping tables are an efficient way to maintain surrogate keys in your data warehouse. These compact tables are designed for high-speed processing. Mapping tables contain only the most current value of a surrogate key— used to populate a dimension—and the natural key from the source system. Since the same dimension can have many sources, a mapping table contains a natural key column for each of its sources.
Mapping tables can be equally effective if they are stored in a database or on the file system. The advantage of using a database for mapping tables is that you can utilize the database sequence generator to create new surrogate keys. And also, when indexed properly, mapping tables in a database are very efficient during key value lookups."
We have a requirement to implement cross-reference mapping tables with Natural and Surrogate Keys for each dimension table. These mappings tables will be populated automatically (only inserts) during the E-LT execution, right after inserting into the dimension table.
Someone have any idea on how to implement this on ODI?
    Thanks,
    Danilo

    Hi,
first of all please avoid bolding something. After this according Kimball (if i remember well) is a 1:1 mapping, so no-surrogate key.
After that personally you could use Lookup Table
    http://www.odigurus.com/2012/02/lookup-transformation-using-odi.html
or make a simple outer join filtering by your "Active_Flag" column (remember that this filter need to be inside your outer join).

  • Available References that need deployed within Visual Studio 6.0

Currently, we are still using the Visual Studio 6.0 to build small database business applications that connect to a Microsoft SQL Server 2008 database.
The application has been completed for the most part, and there is one report that has been developed with Crystal Reports 2008 Developer version: 12.2.0.290.
Within Visual Studio 6.0 I need to include "Available References" that get deployed with the application.
What references need to be included with our application's Setup.exe so when the user needs to print a report it can?
With an older application we developed over five-years ago, we included the following:
    1) Crystal Report Viewer Control
    2) Crystal Report 8 ActiveX Designer Run Time Library
    3) Crystal Report Viewer Control
    4) Crystal Common File Dialog Library 12.0
If I included these references in our new application, would this be fine, or would we need any other references and/or controls?

To add to Adam´s reply; more than likely you are using craxDDrt.dll in your app. This dll contains the COM APIs, but you are not licensed to use these. E.g., COM APIs were retired in CR XI R2A (11.5). So as Adam mentioned, your option is .NET or Java. Or, obtain CR XI R2A and reference the craxDrt.dll.

  • Create data reference to a table that is known at runtime

    Hi,
I am trying to create a data reference to a table that is known only at runtime. In system 4.6C, I am not able to insert this coding
data: lr_data type ref to data.
CREATE DATA lr_data type table of (structure_name).
In hihger releases, I am able to do so.
Could you please tell me how to solve this problem in 4.6C?
    Best regards,

    Hi fabian,
    If i understood,
u want to create a dynamic internal table.
    1.
      For this purpose,
      in my program,
      there is an INDEPENDENT FORM
      whose inputs are
      TABLE NAME / STRUCTURE NAME
and from those, it consructs dynamic table.
    2. Here is the program.
the dynamic table name will be
    <DYNTABLE>.
    3. U can use this program (FORM in this program)
to generate any kind of internal table
    by specifying TABLE NAME .
    4.
    REPORT abc.
    COMPULSORY
    FIELD-SYMBOLS: <dyntable> TYPE ANY TABLE.
    FIELD-SYMBOLS: <dynline> TYPE ANY.
    DATA: lt TYPE lvc_t_fcat.

  • How can we modify the maximum no. of columns in pivot table ?

    hi all,
How can we modify the maximum no. of columns in pivot table ?
do i need to change the nqconfig.ini or instanceconfig file or else?
    thnx..

A little search on the forum :
In the instanceconfig.xml add a <PivotView> element under <ServerInstance> if one does
    not exist already.
Within the <PivotView> element add an entry that looks like:
    <MaxCells>nnnnnn</MaxCells>
where nnnnnn is your desired limit for the maximum total number of cells allowed
    in a pivot.
Warning: an excessively large number will cause more memory consumption and
slower browser performance. The details here :

  • How can I create cursors within the cursor?

How can I create cursors within the cursor?
    Table1 2001 - 2007 data
    Account_no
    Account_eff_dt
    No_account_holder
    Num
    Seq_Num
    Value1
    Value2
    Table2_Historical (doesn't have Num as a field) 1990 - 2000 data
    Account_no
    Account_eff_dt
    No_account_holder
    Seq_Num
    Value1
    Value2
    Table3_06
    Account_no
    Account_eff_dt
    No_account_holder
    Num
    My result table should be:
    Table_result_06
    Account_no
    Account_eff_dt
    No_account_holder
    Num
Value1_min (the minimum value for the minimum of record_sequence)
Value2_max (the maximum value for the maximum of record_sequence)
I have to get data from Table1 and Table2_Historical. If one account was open in 1998 and is still effective, the minimum value of that account is in the Table2_Historical.
    Let's say I open a cursor:
    cursor_first is
    select * from table3_06;
    open csr_first
    loop
    fetch cursor_first into
    v_Account_no
    v_Account_eff_dt
    v_No_account_holder
    v_Num
    EXIT WHEN csr_first%NOTFOUND;
How can I open a second cursor from here that will get the Seq_Num from Table1
    csr_second
    select Seq_Num from Table1 where
    v_Account_no = Account_no
    v_Account_eff_dt <= Account_eff_dt
    v_No_account_holder=No_account_holder
    v_Num = Num
    How does it works???
    Thanks a lot

Thanks so much for replying back. Here is what I am trying to do.
I have to create a table for each year 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 that has all the account numbers that are active each year plus some other characteristics.
Let’s say I will create Table_result_06. This table will have the following fields. The account number, account effective date, Number of the account holder and the field Num (The primary key is a combination of all 4 fields), the beginning look of value 1 in 2006, the last look of value 1 in 2006.
    Table_result_06
    Account_no key
    Account_eff_dt key
    No_account_holder key
    Num key
Value1_min (the minimum value for the minimum of record_sequence)
Value2_max (the maximum value for the maximum of record_sequence)
All the active account numbers with the Account_eff_dt, No_account_holder and Num are in the Table3. As such I can build a query that connects Table3 with table Table1 on all 4 fileds, Account_no, Account_eff_dt, No_account_holder, Num and find the Value1_min for the min of req_sequence in 2006 and Value1_max for the max of req_sequence in 2006. Here my problem starts.
Table 1 doesn’t have a new entry if nothing has changed in the account. So if this account was open in 1993 and nothing has changed I don’t have an entry in 2006 but this doesn’t mean that this account doesn’t exist in 2006. So to find the minimum value I have to go back in 1993 and find the max and min for that year and that will be max and min in 2006 as well.
As such I have to go to Table_2 historical and search for min and max. But this table doesn’t have the field NUM and if I match only on the Account_no, Account_eff_dt and No_account_holder I don’t get a unique record.
So how can I connect all three tables, Table 1 for max and min, if it doesn’t find anything will go to table 2 find the two values and populate Table_result_06.
Thanks so much again for your hep,
