Can an SCCM 2012 instance handle multiple Active Directories?

Hi All,
Historically (SCCM 2007 or
earlier version), each active directory
domain has need an SCCM instance. Has that changed/improved in SCCM 2012 so that each instance can handle multiple Active Directories?

Historically (SCCM 2007 or
earlier version), each active directory
domain has need an SCCM instance.
That's not true BTW.

  • Does a filter instance handle multiple requests?

A web container creates a thread to handle each request so that a servlet instance handles multiple requests at the sime time. What about a filter instance? Does a filter instance also handles
multiple requests? or it handles only one at a time

Here's a quote from the Servlet spec (2.3):
After deployment of the web application, and before a request causes the container
to access a web resource, the container must locate the list of filters that must be
applied to the web resource as described below. The container must ensure that it
has instantiated a filter of the appropriate class for each filter in the list, and called its
    init(FilterConfig config) method..............
Only one instance per filter declaration in the deployment descriptor is
instantiated per Java virtual machine of the container.
So, if the servlet engine follows the spec, there should only be one instance.

  • Can the GPIB-ENET/100 handle multiple TCP connections?

Can the GPIB-ENET/100 handle multiple TCP connections from multiple computers?
    -Daniel

Yes, the GPIB-ENET/100 can handle multiple TCP connections.
To safely access the same GPIB-ENET/100 or GPIB-ENET from multiple applications on one or more computers at the same time, use the iblck function. The iblck function prevents one application from interrupting a call made to the GPIB-ENET/100 or GPIB-ENET from another application. Without it, one application could cause an I/O operation initiated by another application to abort or cause other unexpected behavior.

  • [SCCM 2012 R2] Cross forest Active Directory Boundaries

    Hi All,
What process/component update information (subnets) for already imported AD Site Boundary?
How can I be sure that automatically created Active Directory boundaries from native and cross domains really import/use all subnets from AD Sites? What Log shows verbose information? PowerShell?
Note to Product Group and MVPs who have influence to Product Group:
please add column in Boundaries view to show actual Domain for Active Directory Boundaries (not using Description Column)
please allow to manually create Active Directory Boundaries from not native domains
    Regards,

As mentioned, simply type in the site name instead of using the Browse button.
Site lookups are a simple string comparison that occurs when the client submits the content location or site assignment request to the MP.
If you don't have multiple primary sites, site assignment is not anything to worry about because all the clients will belong to the same site.
If you do have multiple primary sites, it gets a bit more complicated depending upon how those multiple sites are broken down client-wise but would most likely come down to not relying on auto-site assignment so this would be N/A anyway.
For content location, the assumption is that the like-named sites are for the same area of connectivity and thus content-location, i.e., DP "assignment", should be the same regardless of domain/forest. If this is not a valid assumption for your
environment, then I would submit that your site naming convention is irrational.

  • SCCM 2012 - Distributing Flash 16 Active X & Plugin - Disables Play sound in Webpages

    Hello,
We use MS SCCM 2012 R2 to distribute applications and some updates.
We have created the necessary packages to distribute adobe flash 16 active X & plugin.
Our end user environment consists of Win7 64bit, with a range of IE 9,10,11.  Mostly 9 then 11 and a few 10s
A test deployment to approx 20 users told us that in about 33-50% of the time an IE setting was modified.
This setting is found at Internet Options, Advanced, Settings, (Scroll down) to Multimedia.  Setting "Play sounds in webpages"
Is there a way to prevent this change from happening?

Anyone?  I am attempting to reach adobe support via phone...  Seems adobe doesn't like to be called for flash.

  • SCCM 2012 installation without integrating active directory

    I will explain my scenario.
I have one Active Directory, And different OU for different location, ie for US i have one OU, for UK i have another OU, for Dubai i have one OU.
Now we have SCCM installed in US, It has a CAS server under which there are 4 primary and 20 secondary sites.
I want to install a standalone SCCM for the Dubai office, for just that single OU and manage the domain joined clients. But i do not want to integrate with the AD, as already there is one SCCM in the same AD.
How can this be achieved? How can the clients be installed and what will be different during the site installation.
    Any response is highly appreciated.
    Thank you.

    You will find it here:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg712272.aspx
You're particularly interested in "Client computer installation and site assignment"
    Thanks Gerry.
But my active directory schema is already extended since i already have SCCM installed in the AD environment. Will that make any difference?

  • SCCM 2012 OSD with Multiple Drive letters using StandAlone Media

Hey guys I have a client who is required to partition their Windows 8.1 installation in three different partitions:
    C:(OS Partition)
    d:(SQLData Partition)
    E:(Client Data Partition)
    G:(CD-ROM)
I Already know that I should not use multiple drives for OSD but this is the requirement I have been given...
When I deploy my TS through PxE or USB Bootable Media all the drives are labeled correctly... C,D and E but if I Use Standalone USB Media then I end up with C, E and F and G as CDRom. I know that WinPE assigns a drive letter to the usb stick usually d: but
not always so how can I set the USB Standalone media to act the same way as PxE and Usb Boot Media? is there a way to have PE set the USB drive to drives latter in the alphabet? s, t or w?
    Please help

Hey Joyce thanks for the response but I am not talking about the fact that the drives are labeled differently in PE I am stating that once the imaging process is complete the drive letters are not the same when doing a deployment through PxE or USB Bootable
media... When using Full standalone USB media to deploy the exact same TS the drive letter assignment is not consistent so to be as clear as I can I will explain again...
When doing a deployment from PxE, USB BOOT Media or USB BOOT Media attached to a VM, all the drives end up correct at the end of the deployment so C: is the OS drive  D: is the Data Drive and E: is the Maps Drive (Keep in mind that if I do a usb
bootable media deployment and leave the USB in the computer I have the same issue as the standalone media)
But if I run the deployment from a STANDALONE USB Media then everything runs as it should but when I enter windows and look at my drive letter assignment the C: is the OS drive the D: drive is the USB the E: drive is the Data drive and G: is the Maps
    Drive...
Which means to me that when windows is assigning drive letters it is assigning the USB Drive as D and not something less intrusive like y: or o:
So the question is: How can I have the drive letters assigned properly when using full standalone media So that my deployments are consistent when deploying through PxE, Usb Boot Media and USB Standalone media? Did no one ever test this out? and if so is
this what I can expect from SCCM 2012R2 For consistency to not be available across all deployment methods?

  • Can't Create Reporting Subscriptions in SSRS 2012 But Can in SCCM 2012

I did some research before which indicated that SCCM handles all the permissions for SSRS (http://server/Reports - Not sure if SSRS is the correct term but using it anyway).
I noticed recently that if I create subscriptions, it will disappear and not work. I could understand that the permissions wouldn't work since I am using role assignments for security but the subscriptions not working is causing me some concern. Is this
    right?
    Kyle

Yes, I know this is an old post, but I’m trying to clean them up.
How exactly are you setting up your subscription?

  • In SCCM 2012 if it integrates with 1E Nomad SCCM 2012 nomad how many clients it can handle

    Hi All
Its about SCCM 2012 R2 with NOmad , we have around 300 and 500 users in WAN link remote locations ,if we use NOMAD
it will handle more then 300 user in a remote location

Thanks for the question. The quick answer is it will work JUST fine for any SW Dist scenario you throw at it... the better answer is it will also depend on which version of Nomad you are using. Our current version is instrumented to handle VERY large remote
offices across the WAN. Features like FanOut will dramatically improve performance with a large number of systems on a single subnet (on the order of 1,000's). Single Site Download further scales it out to having a scenario like a remote office with many thousands
of systems, like an office building or site with many subnets there, each with many clients per subnet. You can manage that scenario easily with just a single instance of the content being downloaded and then replicated throughout the building/site very rapidly
by a single Nomad master machine.
Feel free to reach out to me directly (Ed.Aldrich AT 1e.com) if you wish to know more, or take a look at
http://www.1e.com/nomad/ for a public facing look at all the usual sort of material and info.

  • SCCM 2012 Multiple Domains with a single SCCM instance

    Hello:
Can SCCM 2012 be deployed to multiple untrusted domains within a single install?
I work for a company that maintains multiple client networks all Windows Domain and non are trusted / or are even aware of the other sites.
I would like to setup a SCCM 2012 (and also a Virtual Machine Manager for HyperV) at my office and manage all my different client sites from the single SCCM server.
The connection would be from my office over the Internet in through their on prem firewall
Currently we use Centra Stage and have used Kaseya in the past. I am looking to move from them and focus on SCCM to do this for me.
Is this even possible to do with the product?
    Thanks in Advance!
    -David

Yes, ConfigMgr can manage (un)trusted forests, but what exactly do you mean with "not aware of the other sites"? A requirement is that name resolution and a connection is possible.
For some good scenario's see also this series:

  • SCCM 2012 Reporting point server instance blank

I have installed SCCM 2012 With remote SQL database server successfully, at the time of Reporting service point role installation, its verified the SCCm database successfully but SQL server service instance is blank, what would be the reason....
    Below my SCCM architecture:
    1. Created one Database in Remote server SQL server is in failover cluster active passive mode
    2. Configured Reporting services in active mode.
    3. at the time of reporting point role installed failover cluster database name given and its successfully verified with SCCM_123 database.
    4. on the instance name showing blank.
Please help me if anyone facing this type of problem.
    Thanks in advance.
    Rishi!!
    Regards, Rishi

It is not totally intuitive when installing the Reporting Point role with a cluster.  When installing a Failover Cluster, SSRS can only get put on one node or on its own box, as it uses NLB for scale-out not FoC.  SSRS is also not configured by
default if you use it with a clustered SQL instance, so you have to open SSRS Configuration Tool and make sure the ReportServerDB is created, and that the URLs can be browsed.  Once that is done, then try adding it in CfgMgr:
In CfgMgr, In the Administration workspace, expand Site Configuration, and then click
    Servers and Site System Roles.
Select the node that has SSRS installed on it (not the Failover Cluster virtual computer account).  If SSRS is on its own box, first you have to go to
New site system and add the SSRS box.
Then, on the Home tab, in the Server group, click
Add Site System Role. The Add Site System Roles Wizard opens.  Choose Reporting Point, and after verifying the connection to the CfgMgr DB, the instance name should populate.

  • Database instance for SCCM 2012 and WSUS on a single primary site server

I am going to install SCCM 2012 and its SQL database on a single physical server. This is going to be a single primary site server. The default SQL instance will be dedicated to SCCM 2012 with no other named instances to be added on the SQL server down
    the road.
During the WSUS server role installation, there is the Database Options page asking for using (1) Windows Internal Database, (2) existing db server on this computer, or (3) an external db server.
Since SCCM 2012 doesn't share db instance with others, how should I handle the WSUS db that's going to be hosted on the same SCCM/SQL physical server? Do I really need to create a separate SQL instance just for the WSUS db?
    Thanks and regards.

Even though you can do it, it is the best practice to have SCCM 2012 and WSUS installed on separate instances.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh692394
When the Configuration Manager and WSUS databases use the same SQL Server and share the same instance of SQL Server, you cannot easily determine the resource usage between the two applications. When you use a different SQL Server instance
for Configuration Manager and WSUS, it is easier to troubleshoot and diagnose resource usage issues that might occur for each application.

  • Can I set a priority in SCCM 2012 for advertisements or any other ideas to fix my Task sequences?

I have several task sequences that I deploy to lab computers that we re-image 1 or 2 times a year.  The task sequences run and install specific software
for that lab after the base image deploys.
The base image is deployed using WDS without SCCM in the mix.  It is a setup they we are using because of legacy business processes that just make this easier.
Then after the machine boots up and gets its SCCM policies the task sequences start running to deploy the software.
The issue I am noticing is that I have no control over what runs first and sometimes Windows Updates that are deployed via SCCM run before or in between the task
sequences that I have running.  Some installs fail because of the pending Windows Update reboot, which I believe I have gotten around just by checking for it and rebooting before it installs the software.  The issue is that the Windows update could
and usually is one of those lovely updates that requires multiple reboots.  The second reboot is killing my task sequence.
The issue is I need to somehow force this updates to run after my task sequences or make sure they run first.  The only way I can think of this is by having
priorities for the task sequences.  I can't just add installing the updates to the task sequence, because the second reboot will kill my whole task sequence there too.
Anyone have any ideas on how to get around this issue?  I want the machines to install the Windows updates so I can't just remove them from the collection.

That's definitely the best option to do everything via the task sequence deployment.
Also, there are script available in the community to add or remove a device from a collection, see for example:
    http://sccmfaq.wordpress.com/2013/05/20/sccm-2012-sp1-remove-client-from-collection-after-osd/
Keep in mind that if you want to use a script like that during the task sequence that the device running the task sequence (and by that the script) requires specific rights within ConfigMgr.

  • Sccm 2012 reporting services server instance blank

    Hi guys,
Can anyone provide me tips to install reporting service point on SCCM 2012 server.
P.S: SRS instance configured in SQL server 2008 R2 SP2 and it can accessible (http://<SQLserver>/Reports/) in SCCM 2012 server
    Please help me!
    Thanks,

If you don't have DNS entry for your Report Service Point (SQL server), the instance field can be blank too.
Can you expand on this as I have never heard of this issue before.

  • How can I force TestStand to create multiple instance of an activex server instead of share the same reference?

    Hi, All:
I am trying to migrate a application coded by VC++ to TestStand+CVI. This application opens multiple serial com ports and send commands to test targets, and get responses from these targets. The VC++ application creates multiple thread, and every thread create an activeX server instance which is responsible for opening serial port, sending test commands ,and getting response. It works fine as every thread has itsown activeX instance, so data and commands can be handled in the right serial port successfully.
Yet when I works on TestStand, I got problems. I choose parallel model as the process model. I create a activeX object reference with AxtiveX/COM Adapter, and store the reference in a sequence local varialbe. If there is only 1 testsocket, It is OK. But if there are multiple test sockets, and communication between the application and test targets will be directly to the last test target. I try to popup a message within a execution to indicate the value of the activeX object reference, and all of them are identical. But this is not the behavior I want.
So, is it possible to force TestStand to create independent instances of an activeX server? How can I make it work?
    Thanks

    Thanks for your comment, Dan.
Yet I do get problems as none of us know how to program an activeX server so that it can be forced to be a single-instance or multiple-instance.
As I mentioned earlier, there is existing application which is written by VC++ can create multiple instances of this activeX server, all I have to do is to create multiple threads, and initiate an instance of this server to contrl multiple test targets.
My colleague said he creates the server with VC++ ATL, and cofigure it to be dual-interface and STA. And in the VC++ application side(client side), I use smart-pointer in threads to create an instance of the server:
     IMySerialServer pIMySerialServer;
      HRESULT hr = pIMySerialServer.CreateInstance("UUTCmd.MySerialServer");
      if(FAILED(hr))
       AfxMessageBox("Fail to create instance.");
And then I got multple instances of the activeX server. Every thread can have itsown com port, can send/receive commands indepently. I have no idea how can I make it work on TestStand. Would you show me some reference documents or sample codes?
    Thank you
    Cipher
