Can BPEL handle file attachment from oracle database?

Hello All,
Need some help for this below incident.
1. user attach a file from Human Task Work List. (this will store the attachment into the database)
2. Get the attachment from the database.
3. Sent it via email as attachment. (attachment can be all types of file format)
Question.
1. Is this possible to be done?
2. I manage to decode and sent successful as an attachment in .txt format only. But for others i can't, any idea? i get this error in my flow (XML Parsing Error: reference to invalid character number)
your help will helped others as well. Thanks

Hei all.
I get it works already. Direct copy the content from the database with the email content body.
Problem is:
1. PDF with large size will fail. (That's why I keep on getting error) but anyone out there know whats the size of the limit?
2. It wont work for Text file. Its shows base64 format. I not sure why this is happen. But this can be fix with a base64 encoder.

  • Can you suggest a best way to store and read arabic from oracle database?

    Hi ,
can you suggest a best way to store and read arabic from oracle database?
My oracle database is Oracle Database 10g Release 10.1.0.5.0 - 64bit Production on unix HP-UX ia64.
    NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET AL16UTF16
    NLS_LANGUAGE AMERICAN
    NLS_TERRITORY AMERICA
    NLS_CHARACTERSET WE8ISO8859P1
I have presently stored the data in nvarchar2 field. But i am not able to display it correctly.

Using the national characterset should work but there are other factors that you have to consider when working with NCHAR/NVARCHAR2/NCLOB.
If possible, changing the characterset is usually the best solution if it's a possiblity for you.
    For more info:
Dear Gurus: Can u pls explain the difference between VARCHAR2 & NVARCHAR2??

  • Can data be fetched from Oracle Database to ApEx websheets?

    Hi,
    Oracle 11g R2
    ApEx 4.2.2
We are in need of giving an MRU form for the customized data by the users. The number of columns will be defined dynamically by the end user. We thought of using apex's standard tabular forms, but they cannot have dynamic columns. We also thought of having manual tabular forms using apex collections, but there is a limitation that the collection can have maximum of 50 character datatypes, 5 numeric, 5 date and 1 each for clob and blob. The number of columns at runtime may exceed these numbers. so we ruled out this. We then thought of using apex websheets. We know that the data can be fetched from Oracle database to websheet reports, but the reports cannot be edited. We know that the data grid gives option to edit the data, but I couldnt find a way to fetch the data from database to it.  I understand that the data in the apex websheets can be queried from apex's meta tables apex$_ws_... views and somehow in a back door way of doing these can be updated to the business tables. But we also need to fetch the data  from Oracle database to the grid. I do not want to insert into the apex$_ws tables as Oracle does not support it. Is there any other possibility?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Natarajan

    Nattu wrote:
Thanks for your reply. Actually it is a data that is fully customized by the end user. These custom attributes are really stored as rows and a complex code returns them as columns at run time. So the number of columns is different user to user based on the number of rows they have.
They'd never have got that far if I'd been around...
They now want to edit them in a tabular form as well.
Well once you've implemented one really bad idea, one more isn't going to make much difference.
It rather sounds like you've got people who know nothing about relational databases or user interfaces responsible for the design of both. You need to be very, very, worried.

....can we do something through Non-Oracle->ODBC?Yes, it is possible, look at this thread

If your server (with target DB and OWB runtime) is on Windows OS this configuration will be simpler - you can use single server.

    Thanks,

    Hi,
    Sorry for my english
For Windows NT, the last big patchset is 8.1.7.4.x. I advice you to use the last patchset. A patchet is not a upgrade or a migrate. the installation is in two phase. Phase One:Patch the files in the oracle home with Oracle Universal Installer (Oui) and Phase Two: execute sql files on the dictionnary of each database. There is a readme with the patch.
you can get files on metalink if you have a account (metalink.oracle.com).
