Can Flex see Local Resources?

I am looking at Flex as a new development platform for my
Point of Sale system. The requirements are:
It must be a internet application that can also access local
client devices without poping up message. I need to be able to
print to two local printers, send data to a local display pole and
read data from a USB attached digital scale and a USB attached
credit card / check imager from MagTek.
Does flex allow for this?

I would build it in AIR, which you can do via Flex. This way
you have a nice installable program that will be able to access
client devices without a problem.

Can Not See Local Published Universe

Hey, In the Webi Rich Client running 4.0 I can't see the universe that I published to my local laptop.
I created the universe using Information Design Tool using an ODBC connection to a local Excel file.
I published that universe to the local directory that is defined in the Rich Client (under options). When I click on universe it makes me log on as 'standalone' .. then I get a blank screen.
When I use OPEN -> Files of type *.UNX -> navigate to the directory I see the universe, but when I try to load it I get the err:
Load Driver Call: Initialize (WIS 00000)" ?
There are no loops in my data foundation and the integrity check is fine as well.
Any help is appreciated.

Let me clarify.
If you connect to Standalone mode, You will never connect to repository. (i.e.) You should have universe and Report together in your Local machine.
If you are connecting to repository(Enterprise,Windows AD,LDAP), Then you need to connect the repository copy of the Universe and Report.
As I already said in previous message, Whenever you export the universe, The physical .unv or .unx files will be moved to repository. as a result you cant open the report in Standalone mode. To overcome this try import the universe from repository and save it somewhere. Then try with standalone mode and repoint the report to refer local universe copy.

Can't see local network

I have 3 computers networked together. One is plugged directly into the router, the other two use wireless cards to connect. The computer I use most is one with a wireless connection. Sometimes my computer doesn't see my network. I know the router card works, because at those times I can see other wireless networks in my neighborhood, I just can't see the one in my own house. During those times my son's computer, which is about 3 feet away, sees and connects to the local network just fine, so I know the router is working. When I can see my local network, the signal is strong, so I don't think it has anything to do with signal strength. I'm stumped. When the problem occurs I've tried rebooting my computer, but that doesn't make a difference.

Well in this case what you do is from your hardwired PC log into the setup page of the router with http://192.168.1.1 username leave blank and the password is admin.
Under the wireless tab change the channel to 11. And under advanced wireless settings lower the Beacon to 75 > Fragmentation Threshold to 2304 and the RTS Threshold to 2307. And then you can check the connection with your wireless PC
Also try to reinstall the wireless card in your Pc once.

On wake, MBAir can't see network resources?

I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure this out, but basically I just close my MBAir when I'm done and I don't shut it down - so it's just sleeping. Well, when I wake it up it gets a network connection and everything works... except that it can't see my network printer, network drives, or other mac on the network.
First solution that works is to reboot, but of course that shouldn't be the case. The other solution that seems to work is turning off my wi-fi connection and turning it back on again. Voila! I can see everything. I just don't know why I would need to do that and I don't know if that's a problem with the MBAir hardware or Lion.

Hi,
As you mentioned several times in the post that you set up the VPN with a router. In this way, there will be no VPN Server or VPN client, all the computers and router are in the same network.
When you dial in the network with another computer, there will be another internet connection icon appeared at the Network and Sharing Center, then right click the icon, then click set as default connection.
In this way, all the computers can visit each other.
There is still one thing that confuses me, do you deploy a VPN server with a windows server? Or with a third party software? I don’t understand what do you mean the “VPN server”.
I think you should post more information about the VPN server for further troubleshooting.

Can't see local computers in network neighborhood anymore

Hello,
I bought a WRT610N on Friday to replace my WRT54G and while it is running great I have a small issue.
If I go to browse my local network, I don't see a list of computers like I used to with the WRT54G
If I type \\computername then I can access the shares on each computer as well as be able to \\computername\c$
I can ping all of them and yes all of them are on the same workgroup as well as the router itself.
What setting I need disabled in the router so I can "see" my computers in network neighborhood

Are you able to access the computer using the ip address of that particular computer....? Try that and check if you can access the computer using the ip address instead of the name.

Can't see 'Local Variables' while debugging in Sun Studio 11

I am debugging a C/C++ application built with Sun Studio 11 running on Solaris 10. I load the application as always, set a breakpoint and run. The debugger stops at the assigned breakpoint as expected.
The issue is that at this point there are no local variables displayed in the local variables pane.
I have tried restarting SS11, rebuilding, etc...
This is the first time I have seen this happen.
Does anyone else have an idea what is wrong?

Does adding a particular variable to Watch view help? (it can be done by typing "display <variable>" in dbx command line).
You can also try erasing (or better moving to a temporary location) all Sun Studio settings like this:
mv -f ~/.sunstudio /tmpand start debugging session again.

Network user can't see local home directory

Hi there,
I have a Mac Mini running Lion Server with Directory Services turned on. I've been using this to allow network users to log into Lion clients, as well as set up mobile accounts. This has been working fine.
Now I've just created a new network user for use with a Mountain Lion client and have experienced some strangeness with this new user's home directory. The binding to the directory was fine, and the credentials for the network user were fine. However, when logged in, this new user has his home drive mapped to /Network/Servers/<servername>/Users/<username> rather than the expected /Users/<username>. This has bad side-effects. For instance, Chrome tries to save downloads to the server instead of locally.
What I can't work out is why the home directory isn't pointing to a local location. The other users (on Lion) have the same home directories defined in their Open Directory profiles. The only difference is the new user is on Mountain Lion, but I don't think this has any bearing to the problem.
Can anyone offer some advice?

So I took my Mac Mini running OS X 10.8 Server, along with two client laptops: one exhibiting the problem I described, and the other where network logins and home directories worked as intended.
Long story short, the guys at the Bar couldn't figure it out. The user definitions in Open Directory seemed ok, but they still couldn't work out why no local home directories were being created. Not sure if this helps, but in trouble-shooting, we also discovered that trying to login with a network user on the problematic laptop didn't work when the server wasn't on the network. It's as if the server is required to be present.
Anyway, the case has been referred to the business team, which is supposed to have more expertise with OS X Server.

VPN clients can't see network resources unless Firewall is disabled.

If the firewall is turned off, connected VPN clients can access other PCs over the VPN. But I would like to enable a rule that allows them to access computers even with the firewall turned on. I just don't know what the rule should be.

Can't see local DLNA server from iPad and iPhone

Hi
I have a Windows 8.1 PC running a DLNA server which services a community of devices including Win 8.1 Laptop, XBOX One and 2 x XBOX 360 Consoles, an iPad and iPhone. All has been working until recently (within last 7 days). (I cannot recall whether the current situation immediately followed ay one particular change).
Right now all devices can still use the DLNA service apart from the iPad and iPhone. I cannot connect to the service from the iPad using a DLNA renderer or even connect to the web interface via Safari. I have tried (and failed) to ping the server from my iPad (pinging from my laptop both wired and wirelessly is fine). I have turned off the Windows firewall and still have the problem. Using a subnet pinger, my iPad does find my laptop.
I am at a loss! I have tried to isolate the issue but have failed. Sounds like a server side / firewall issue (access to a port) but other systems are fine. Seems curious it is occurring on the 2 iOS devices in the household!
Can anyone suggest a course of action?

I have been successfully using iOS apps such as 8Player as DLNA renderer, but it is no longer able to find the DLNA server (Media Browser Server) and, as reported, I cannot even ping the DLNA server from my iPAD (yet can ping other Win 8.1 devices).

Accessing System resources with flex (especially Hardware resources)

Can Flex access systems resources? Is there any integration
with c++ (dlls), or java classes of some sort? ........trying 2
decide on an RIA technology ..... and hardware resources
accessibility is quite key, infact a show stopper.
If Flex cant, any ideas of an RIA wit dis capability?

How can I see the PC on my local network. With Leopard installed I see the others Mac on the network but ot the PC. But the PC see me. What happen and How I can resolve that.

Have you tried connecting to the PC via the Finder's "Connect to Server…" and used the IP address?
It would be smb://server.ip.address/sharename
Do you have the workgroup set up in the network preferences for the service that you are connected to your LAN with.
There is also a problem on Leopard where the workgroup doesn't stay set, so if that is the case, you need to duplicate the service (ethernet, airport, etc) and use the duplicate. You can then remove the original.

Since upgrading to windows 8.1 I can not see any local files in the files window.

I have recently upgraded to windows 8.1 and can no longer see my local files in the files window. All remote files for all remote sites are visable.
If I change sites under local view get error thet dreamweaver can not update cache

I honestly don't know if DW CS5 is compatible with Win 8.1. The OS compatibility FAQ only mentions DW CS6 & CC.
