Can FM integrate with SharePoint?

We use Visual SourceSafe or Team Foundation Server for 99% of our source FM docs. But we wanted to keep a few FM templates on our SharePoint site so our writers in various cities could easily access them. We each have full permissions so I don't think that's the issue.
Here's the problem scenario, infinitely reproducible:
Check out .fm template file, which resides in a Topic section of the SP page called "Templates".
Click filename link to open template file in FM.
Edit file, save it, close it, check it back in.
File automatically MOVES from "Templates" Topic to "General" Topic, accompanied by a new .backup file, which is still in checked-out status.
Check out .fm file again and edit properties to change Topic from default "General" to "Templates", after which it moves back to the correct Topic.
As .backup file is still checked out, delete it from "General" Topic.
This behaviour seems to occur only with .fm files. A few of our offices still use Word and their files seem to behave correctly. The SP administrator said maybe it's a simple matter that FM and SP "don't play well together" but I find it hard to believe MS would permit this kind of weakness, considering the huge FM audience out there.
Has anyone experienced the above scenario or learned any workarounds?
Thanks in advance,
Gay Alson

No, I'm not answering my own question. Just wanted to clarify a couple of things:
We don't upload any backup files -- this is something SharePoint has decided to do all by itself. Although we can just delete those backup files, the larger problem is SP arbitrarily moving the .fm file from the Templates topic to the General topic, which strips away its properties and necessitates reapplying them. I suspect this happens because of the backup files -- we never upload those, hence they don't have any properties (one of which is the Topic where they are supposed to reside), so SharePoint puts them under the General topic (the SharePoint default) and the "real" .fm file seems to go along for the ride, losing its own properties during the trip.
A related problem is that sometimes in this tiresome checking in/checking out/moving files, SharePoint eats a template file. It simply disappears from the list and is no longer on the SharePoint server. This is the most disturbing problem of all but I can't describe the steps because I haven't yet discovered the pattern that will result in a file simply disappearing.
Yet another SharePoint weirdness is Ctrl+S doesn't perform the Save function in a .fm file being edited "live" -- that is, checked out and opened from the SP page and then edited on the SP server. I've found I must specifically click the Save button in FM.
Is it Friday yet?

  • SQL Server Report integrate with SharePoint slow

    Dear Team,
I have SQL Server report servie integrate with SharePoint mode, create several reports and deployed to SharePoint, use SharePoint sql server report viewer web part to view the report.
the report contain about 8 parametes, it takes half a minute to load the report parameters, which is not accepted.
What can I do to improve the performance.
    Thanks,

    Hi, qq_w
First of all I suggest catching the result
query  and running it with the "View execution plan" option so you can understand what is slowing you down. Perhaps you miss some indexes or something.
Secondly, it will be good to run it with tuning advisor.

  • Hi What are the steps to integrate with Sharepoint using BPEL?

    Hi
What are the steps to integrate with Sharepoint using BPEL?
We are going to integrate with Web Center Interaction at the other end.
I really appreciate if you can share if you have a document or instructions / links on how the same be achieved

    You have two options:
Use a SQL Alias and you will then need to swing all databases over to the new SQL Server
Don't use a SQL Alias and swing all but the Configuration and Administration databases to the new SQL Server, and individually re-configure Service Applications/Web Applications to use the new SQL Server. This will force you to keep the old SQL Server around.

  • Recommend project management calendar tools that integrate with SharePoint

    Hi All,
Has anyone integrated SharePoint with project management tools like Trello or DivvyHQ.  We built out a task management system in SharePoint, and would like to integrate it with an out-of-the-box project planning tool so marketers can take advantage
of calendars with multiple dates, ghantt charts, etc.  I'm looking for something out-of-the box that already has an integration with SharePoint.

  • Can CC integrate with other software like JIRA?

Creative Cloud files are great for collaboration. I'm wondering if it's possible to integrate CC with other software like JIRA for better project management?

To repeat my answer from your other post,
    To use Ozone in GB:
Open your Info, choose Master, open Details, and click on the blank effect section (w/ the checkbox beside it) and choose Ozone.
You can use it the same way for individual tracks if you want to.
(of course, I'm assuming that you have its Audio Unit (AU) installed.)

  • Can't integrate with Exchange

I cannot get my Exchange calendar to show up in iCal. Here's what I've done, and the results:
    1) Clicked "+" in Accounts in Preferences to add an account and chose Exchange 2007, filled in e-mail address and password, and clicked Create. This seems to have been accepted and moved me onto next page where I...
    2) Entered Description, changed User Name to DOMAIN\username with the values provided by IT, and changed Server Address to value provided by IT. Unchecked Setup Mail and Address Book checked. Clicked Create and got message that "Server not responding...". Clicked Create again, account appeared in Accounts pane of Preferences window.
    3) Closed Preferences window. Chose New Calendar from File menu and chose my new calendar from nested menu. Received message the "The account 'XXXXXX' currently can't be refreshed."

  • Disable auto check-in with SharePoint

    Hi all,
I apologize if this isn't in the right place; I couldn't find an obvious location for Adobe / SharePoint integration questions.
Today one of my users complained that Adobe Reader X has suddenly started behaving differently in how it integrates with SharePoint (we're using 2007).  When she receives an email with a PDF attached, she opens it in Reader and saves it to SharePoint.  She then wants to review the document and possibly make comments, which again should be saved into SharePoint.  At the end of the review she'll check the document in.
Today, when she did the initial save, Adobe automatically checked the document into SharePoint.  She tried this several times with different documents, and had the same behavior.
Is this a new function?  Is there a way to disable it so my user can save the document in SharePoint without checking it in?
    Thanks,
    Kristin

  • How to get Excel to function like InfoPath with SharePoint libraries?

When working with InfoPath, there is a way to promote fields from your form to a SharePoint Library so that when you submit the form, it submits the actual form and the metadata from the fields in the form to columns in the document library in SharePoint.
Well, I'm trying to accomplish this with Excel, but am so used to doing it with InfoPath I'm running into a lot of walls. I've found an add-in that allows me to insert a table and publish/sync it to a library in SharePoint, so that data from that table is
    sent to the library.
Trouble is, I need the spreadsheet to also be "submitted" to the library so I can send it to specific users  based on a workflow. So basically, I need metadata from the form to be sent to the library for the purpose of triggering the workflow so that
it routes the spreadsheet to the correct user. But in order for it to route (or provide a link to the spreadsheet in the workflow email) the sheet, it also needs to get submitted to the library.
So I'm trying to get InfoPath functionality out of this.

Excel does not integrate with SharePoint like that.  Is there a reason you're dealing with entire spreadsheets instead of converting them to lists and/or using InfoPath for form purposes?

Actually, it does. You can promote fields from Excel, InfoPath, etc. to SharePoint and use them to do exactly what I was looking to do above. I actually did this for a huge project and it worked.
And yes, the Excel spreadsheets have an addin that is required for the business process on the client side.

  • Configuring Adobe Acrobat XI Pro with SharePoint 2013

    Hello,
There are multiple questions whose clarifications are required.
Situation: Users need to open the documents in browser, check-out, edit, add comments/annotations and check-in without using Client Acrobat Reader.
Based on the above situation, please let me know about the following:
    1. Is it mandatory to buy Adobe Acrobat XI Pro license to integrate with SharePoint 2013?
    2. Is Office Web Apps Server 2013 cannot provide the functionality as per situation so that i don't need to buy licenses for Adobe Acrobat XI Pro?
    3. If point no 1 is Yes then what is the procedure of configuring/enabling Adobe Acrobat XI Pro with SharePoint 2013.
    Thanks.
    Sohaib Khan

What are you editing, if the answer is PDFs as a suspect it is then you will need a PDF editor such as Adobe Acrobat on each user's desktop to edit PDFs. OWA isn't a PDF editor as far as i'm aware.
As such you'll need licenses for an editor for each user.
The process for integrating the two is pretty straight forward, you set, either by GPO or individually, the default application for PDFs to be Adobe Acrobat.

  • Communicator integration with SharePoint 2010 site.

    Hi,
Recently, we have integrated Cisco jabber with your SharePoint sites to know the presence working of the users.
But it is not showing the presence working of the users. We have tried starting Full user profile synchronization.
Only few users working is getting presented,& most of the users presence is not available.
Please let me know any resolution for this asap....
    Thanks in Advance.
    Badri

We have had exactly the same issue. Since the integration is OS dependent, there are registry keys that need to be correctly set up in order for Jabber to integrate with Sharepoint. You could create a script that corrects this but it will be a losing battle
since users will install Lync or Skype or another app that hijacks the reg entries.
    You should go for
Jabber SDK for Web with SharePoint. It's just JavaScripts that interface the CUCM, so they execute in the browser.

  • Integrate SSRS Native Mode with Sharepoint 2013

Hi, I have read numerous posts that go back and forth on the question "is SSRS Native Mode supported to work with SharePoint 2013?" and it seems like the answer is no, it is not. Even with SP1 like some people suggested it seems like it is impossible
    to integrate the two.
In this case is the next step simply to somehow (IIS?) route the Report Server Web Service URL to a SharePoint page?
What should I do with the fact that everyone in my domain can access the above mentioned URL?
Thank you for any and all answers, I appreciate it!

    Hi Nestalna,
As per my understanding, you want to allow everyone in your domain to access Report Server Web Service URL, but you don’t know how to grant permissions, then you think we can control permission using sharepoint, right?
In native mode, we can grant permissions to access Report Server Web Service URL by following steps:
From the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Computer Management.
Click to expand the Local Users and Groups node.
Right-click Groups, then click New Group, type the name and description, then add domain users to the group.
    Start Report Manager.
    Click Site Settings.
    Click Security.
    Click New Role Assignment.
In Group or user name, enter the group you created above.
Select a system role, and then click OK.
In this way, domain users can access report manager. If they want to view, add, and manage report server content, subscriptions, report processing, and report history, we need to assign Item-level role on specific folders or items to them. Besides, in earlier
version of SQL Server 2012, we can configure Reporting Services to native or sharepoint integrated mode, from SQL Server 2012, we can configure Reporting Services to native and sharepoint integrated mode.
For more information about Grant User Access to a Report Server, please refer to the following document:

    Hi,
According to your description, you might want to integrate with JUKEBOX API and P4A Systems to SharePoint 2013.
I would provide some suggestions about how to access the data of SharePoint, for the JUKEBOX API part, as it is not supported in this forum, I would suggest you find
the related resource in the corresponding forum.
For about how to interact with SharePoint 2013 programmatically, the links below would be helpful:
