Can Help be loaded into a flash application?

I am looking for help solutions that will fit inside another
application, a flex app, that would load inside a flash popup
window. RoboHelp outputs a hybrid of flash and html, correct? Is
there a way to output just swf format so it can be loaded into
another application?

• Is there a way to load into JDeveloper an application without a .jws file?

Hi,
Even though I have struggled through the development of a simple application which has been put into production, I am still a newbie in terms of web application development, and JDeveloper (10.1.3.4) is the only IDE I learned to use. After completing the first application, I turned around to read a book (JavaServer Faces, The Complete Reference, 1st Ed, by Chris Schalk) to learn JSF, because JDeveloper assumes its user already knows JSF, but I do not, and often mix up what is JSF and what are enhancements by ADF.
After introducing the general concepts of JSF in the first eight chapters, the book starts to illustrate details of the working mechanism of JSF from Chapter 9, by means of a sample application. To use the sample application (code is downloadable from the book's web site), it is required to use either Ant or use Spring Hibernate. I know none of these. JDeveloper is the only thing I know. If I start to read Ant and Hibernate, I will go further and further away before I can eventually return back to JSF and ADF, whereas it looks to me the working of Ant and Hibernate have all been built into JDeveloper.
I wonder if I can use JDeveloper to follow the book's sample application. But the code the author provides does not have a .jws file therefore can not be loaded by JDeveloper and, even if it can, the file tree structure of the sample code files is different from that in JDeveloper.
I wonder if any people here were in the same situation as I am in now, and have found a way out? Or are there alternative books or sources suitable for a learner like me?
JDeveloper is great (and of course with the help of the great people here on the OTN forum I am grateful to) in that it shields all the technology and enables a person like me who knew almost nothing about web technology to focus on the business logic and complete an application. It defeats the purpose if, to learn to better use JDeveloper, I have to go back to primary school and trace the evolution of web technology all the way to JSF and ADF. It would be nice to do so, but will take too much time.
Many thanks in advance!

Shay,
Thank you very much for the instruction. The problem is solved by creating a new application with the "Web Application \[JSF, EJB\]" technology scope as the application template, saving the WEB-INF\lib\jsf-impl.jar file before replacing the public_html directory with the web directory from the book's sample code, then renaming the web directory back to public_html.
The compilation errors are largely gone, with the following still outstanding:
Project: C:\webapps\VirtualTrainer\ViewController\ViewController.jpr

Error(158): scroller must be terminated with /> or %> not >These errors seems to indicate that there are three things that JDev could not find for the application during compilation:
- the HttpServlet API,
- the Scroller custom tag library, and
- some filter.
I searched on the web and in the developer's guide, and tried Tools-> Manage Libraries... and Project Properties->Libraries in various ways but did not succeed in figuring out how to make the HttpServlet and the custom tag available to the application. And I am not sure what the filter exactly is for.
There are actually two .java files ScrollerComponent.java and ScrollerTag.java in the ...VirtualTrainer\ViewController\src\com\jsfcompref\trainer\components directory and, despite the compilation errors, a ...VirtualTrainer\ViewController\classes\com\jsfcompref\trainer\components\trainercomponents.tld file was generated after the compilation.
I am afraid I am asking too much. But it would be very much appreciated if you could spare some time and provide some instructions for resolving these issues.

• Can PDFs be loaded into a movie clip?

I'm trying to make a bit of a digital magazine by taking PDFs
of our print version and loading them into a flash movie where the
user can flip through the pages pretty much like a photo gallery.
Can I do this or will I have to convert them to JPGs and provide
links to download the PDFs if they want to print?

• Built-in iSight produces heavy load (Tiger) using flash applications

On my MacBook the built-in iSight produces a heavy processor load when the camera is used in a flash application and the skype viedo beta.
The load is about 120% in Firefox, Safari and Skype, when the application connects to the iSight camera. In other applications (iChat, photoBooth) I don't have that problem. Under Windows, the same application in the same Browser (Firefox) works just fine with round about 11% processor load.
Does anyone else has this problem (maybe in other applications) ??
Mac Book 2Ghz 2Gb 100GB Mac OS X (10.4.7) BootCamp 1.1

I like the idea to put a camera in the computer.
I have not seriously used a macintosh since 1992, when I was in 2nd grade. Ever since I tinkered on my dad's mac now and then when he was not looking. But, I need to know where in the settings do I go to enable the built-in iSight camera to work on the web or any flash application

• Text in Text File Can't be Loaded into a TextArea

I am trying to do a very simple task: load the text contained in a text file to a TextArea. The file in question indeed exists.
Below is my code. I hope someone can point out why the TextArea remains empty.
TIA,
mlavie
The code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="absolute">
<mx:Script>
<![CDATA[
protected function myButton_clickHandler(event:MouseEvent):void
var file:File = new File();
file.url = "file:///C:/myTextFile.txt";
var fileStream:FileStream = new FileStream();
fileStream.open(file, FileMode.READ);
var fileText:String = fileStream.readUTFBytes(fileStream.bytesAvailable);
fileStream.close();
myTextArea.text = fileText;
]]>
</mx:Script>
<mx:Button x="116" y="193" label="Button" id="myButton" click="myButton_clickHandler(event)"/>
<mx:TextArea x="85" y="25" width="251" height="109" id="myTextArea"/>
</mx:Application>

Thanks - after I posted I realized that I misunderstood the forum hierarchy.
In any case, I solved it: I should have used "mx:WindowedApplication" instead of "mx:Application".

• Data can not be loaded into PSA iva process chain

dear guru,
the process chain is very simple: datasource(mster data, full)--->PAS
shedule : start at 10:00 AM, hourly
when i run sm50, i can find the job is released. but when i checked in PSA, nothing found.
why?
thanks.
brgds/steve

Hi,
If u want u can run only the load manually by displlay variant and schedule...
But to test the chain, as it is a full load can u run the process chain again...it may work fine....
May be the old job might not have scheduled corectly, may be still in released state once the job come into active it'll be fine...
But still try to run again the chain once and revert..

• SWC compenent tht can be auto loaded in user's application

Suppose I have made some components packaged in SWC file. I
want to make these components be auto launched and run during the
customers SWF's launching process. To use these component, customer
must add option to his Flex Project's compile parameters, like
"-include-libraries "D:\Test\test.swc". My destination is that this
compile param is the only change to his project and he will keep
his code unchanged and some functions defined in my SWC will run
while his SWF's launching.
So my question is, how to make this kind of SWC that can be
loaded automatically in customer's SWF?
Thanks in advance!
HappyM

How about defining it as a RSL (Runtime shared library). You
can define the links between the customer's app and the RSL and
then anytime the RSL SWC changes, as long as the links are still
the same, should be okay. See FB3 help on RSL.

• I have Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro on my desktop. Can I also load into onto my laptop for working remotely with the same serial number?

I use Adobe Pro on my desktop daily at the office and now will be handling work remotely from a laptop as well. Adobe Pro is essential for my work (bates stamping, redaction, advanced editing, etc). Can I use the same serial number and installation disc to load this on my laptop? There are no instructions that speak to this issue and I know other programs I have installed provided for both desktop and laptop access. It isn't like I am giving use of this product to another user or pirating it, so I can't foresee an issue. Any information is much appreciated. Thank you!

Hi rebekah,
Adobe End User License Agreement entitles you to install a singe retail license on 2 computers at any instance.
So you can load Acrobat 9 license on the other computer too.

• Why can't icloud load any of the applications like find my iphone

None of the applications in icloud are loading for the past few days. I cannot open any of these applications... why is this happening?

Hey there pahatch,
It sounds like your App Store is not completely loading for you on your iPhone 6, but works fine on your iPad. I would start by quitting the App Store app on your phone first:
iOS: Force an app to close
Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that restart the device and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
If the issue persists I would next sign out of the App Store in your Settings, and then restart the iPhone 6 one more time. and try again:
App Store settings - iPhone
Settings > iTunes & App Store
Tap your account name, then tap Sign Out.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
Cheers,
Sterling

• Apogee duet 2007 can't be loaded into new imac

just got new imac and upgraded to logic 9. trying to set apogee duet, prompt says it's too old for snow leopard. went to apogee site and downloaded new driver but still won't work. running apogee through firewire 400 into Glyph hard drive in order to get to imac. not sure if that's the problem or what. any help is greatly appreciated

Running through the glyph should not be an issue, but check and then download the software again from Apogee - just check you have the correct one. Note: you don't download a driver - there is no driver for the duet; you download new Maestro software - this works directly with core audio on the Mac which is why it integrates so neatly. Worth a try (when does the message appear and what does it say exactly?).

• EP 6.20 Class loader issues with irj application

Hi All,
I have a servlet to interface with the SAP UM API. I had deployed this as a WAR, but the SAP UM cannot be initialised outside of the irj application (SAP Support advised this it is abailable outside the irj application in 6.40).
As a result, I tried to deploy it within the irj application - I copied my jars to the WEB-INF\lib directory, and modified the WEB-INF\web.xml to include a new servlet and servlet-mapping.
I also had to copy some other SAP supporting jars into WEB-INF\lib (the XML parser impls).
This works fine for the UM stuff. Ideally I'd like to redeploy the irj application so I don't have to hack the files and it would allow me to specify the additional libaries required, however there is now way I've found in the Deploy Tool to do this (you need the WAR of the irj application, or the project file). So this is problem 1.
Problem 2. The next extension included support for user mapping data.
Using -
IUserMapping iUserMapping = UMFactory.getUserMapping();
iUserMapping.getUserMappingData(systemAlias, iUser, mapLogonData);
I was able to read the mapping data, but this required knowing beforehand, all the system aliases. With a response from SAP Security, it was suggested
IUserMappingService iums = (IUserMappingService)PortalRuntime.getRuntimeResources().getService(IUserMappingService.KEY);
IUserMappingData mappingData = iums.getMappingData (systemAlias, iUser);
be used to obtain mapping data, and that
com.sap.portal.pcm.system.ISystems sysSrv = (ISystems)PortalRuntime.getRuntimeResources().getService(ISystems.KEY);
String[] systemAliases = sysSrv.getAliases();
be used to obtain the system aliases.
The problem is with the class loader. If I copy the jars with the classes for the IUserMappingService and the ISystems, to the irj WEB-INF\lib I cause a class def not found with other EP6 applications. This is also the case when I add them to the JVM classpath (I know this is bad - but it was a last resort!).
Hoping someone can help me redeploy irj with my application that will resolve problem 2! If not, maybe some advice on problem 2?
Cheers,
Scott...

Hi Scott,
THis isnt an answer to ur Question, but could u tell me which jar files are needed for the packages:
com.sap.portal.pcm.system.ISystems
com.sap.portal.pcm.system.ISystem
and under which path I coul dfind them.
Thnx
Regards

• Best way to load xml to flash

I have a movie on my stage that will need to load in a
relatively small xml document. The problem is that the xml that is
loaded into the flash is based on search results so it will change
all the time and therefore won't read from a local xml file. I have
an example working where it calls a webservice to do the search and
gets back the xml. But in this scenerio the flash has to load, run
the search and then parse the results so it could be a few seconds
that the page has loaded before the flash finishes loading. I've
thought about passing the xml in as a parameter which would put it
right in the html code. I'm not sure how to do this though in as3.
Is there another way that I'm overlooking where it could load the
xml without having to put it right in the html or call a
webservice? Thanks.

I am at work now and able to access my files. I have
developed this basic xml loader class. Some of it is my creation,
some of it I pulled from these forums. Hope it helps you out.
