Can I access a file on a server where the path is password protected?

I have a file stored on a computer in a remote location.  This file must be accessed by multiple test computers to update the test results.  I need to access the file to collect the results.  Currently, I have to log in to the remote computer via file manager and tell file manager to remember the password so that LabVIEW will be able to access the test result file.  Is there a way that LabVIEW can do this?  I do not want the test computers to remain logged in to the remote computer, as someome may be able to accidently corrupt the file.
Thanks.

This question has come up before. Did you try a search? You can use the "net use" command via System Exec to mount the network share, and then you can disconnect it. Do a search on "net use", or just type "net help use" at a command prompt.

  • Can applet access a file on its server????????

i have ana applet that needs to access a file on the server from which it was downloaded. it worked when i changed the security permissions at IE to allow an UNSIGNED applet to access ALL FILES.
now this is a problem for me. is there a way i can move around this or maybe signing the applet would work, though i don't know how....
    help would be highly appreciated.
    sam

File access (read) on the server should be possible as long as you are accessing the file and applet using HTTP. IE will not see this as an access violation. Sending updates to the file is a different story. You either need to create a servlet running on the server to accept the updated file or access the server via FTP. Browsers do not interpret direct file access as coming from the same server even if it does. I think this has something to do with the fact that you are using the local file system to access the server even if it is on a networked drive or location.
And yes, signing the applet would resolve the issue.

  • Writing a file in a  server(where the archive is not deployed)

    Hi,
I have an application that is to be deployed  in the server1.Using the same application that is running on server1 i need to write a data to server2.Can u give the code that can help me to do this.
Both the machines are LINUX machines.so what is the path that is to be specified for my filewriter.
There is no problem in writing the data to a text file in the server1(where the archive is deployed).

ADF has nothing to do with tracking browser close buttons. What you can do is call a JS function and call the method which deletes the file from within the JS function. ADF has a component for calling java code from JS call.

  • TS3988 Can't access photo stream and icloud, despite having the right id/password

I can access icloud online, and on my macbook pro. But for some reason, I can't access my storage preferences (it says: Details not available), nor can I access photo stream. I get an error message that says:
Photos for the iCloud account “[email protected]” cannot be accessed. Review your account information in System Preferences.
    When I click on 'review'
I can also see my storage settings (after inputting my password), and everything is correct and up-to-date. Yet it won't load the storage details.
I also don't want to sign out, because I get messages telling me that everything on my mac will be deleted, and I don't want to lose anything.
    What now?
    Thanks for your help,
    Lutz

You aren't supposed to be able to access photos at iCloud.com.
To enable photo stream in iPhoto enable system preferences > photos and follow on screen instructions.

  • To access pdf files from application server using web.show_document

    Hello!
If my pdf file is copied in Oracle_home/forms90/java directory. Then using web.show_document i can access the pdf file. But I can't copy all the pdf files in /forms90/java directory. We have lacs of pdf files which I want to keep in my own directory. But my requirement is if my pdf file is in /home2/docs directory in (Linux application server) ie in my own directory where I store all the pdf files. Then web.show_document does not open the pdf file.It says page cannot be displayed. For that I think we have to configure the directory /home2/docs directory as a webserver. From otn I got something like forms90.conf file in application server where we have to set virtual directory mapping etc.If the pdf is in local machine then in orion-web.xml file we have to mention real path and save the file and shutdown oc4j instance and restart it again.I tried it.But it is not working. Can u give me step by step instructions to solve this problem.I found a few links in discussion forum. But is doesn't work out.My pdf file is in /home2/docs directory in Linux application server. Please treat it as urgent.

    Hi Sandeepmsandy,
There is no available code sample for this scenario. You may write your own.
Step 1: Get pdf URL from sqlite database. Please refer to the following MSDN blog and see a code sample.
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/robertgreen/archive/2012/11/13/using-sqlite-in-windows-store-apps.aspx. Note, you need to retarget the project to 8.1 and then get two sqlite packages from NuGet before building this sample.
Step 2: Use some special classes to get file from serer.
HttpWebRequest can help download small pdf files. For more information to see
https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsapps/en-US/de96a61c-e089-4595-8349-612be5d23ee6/download-file-with-httpwebrequest?forum=winappswithcsharp. It’s easy for use, but if you want to download the larger or many files, it’s recommend to use
BackgroundTransfer namespace. The classes in this namespace provide a power way to transfer files in the background. See a code sample from MSND.

  • Applet can't read local file on web server, security issue!

There is any way to read/write files of web server through the applet except the Signed Applet.
If any idea the reply me soon.
    Thanks in advance

Applets are downloaded from web servers and execute on the client machine.
Therefore they have no access to the web server file system, signed or not.
They could have access to the client file system (the machine where they run),
but for security reasons only signed applets have this privilege.
So to answer your question, you sign if you want to access client files.
To access web server files, you don't need to sign the applet, but you need
to provide some method of accessing files remotely, for instance:
    - Files published for the web can be read using HTTP
    - Files can be read or writen with the help of an FTP server on the same machine as the web server
    - A servlet running on the HTTP server can collaborate with your applet to exchange files

  • Can I access my files stored in the hard disk connected to airport extreme when I am away? how?

Can I access my files stored in the hard disk connected to airport extreme when i am away? How?

You can't technically. iPads cannot directly read HDDs like a computer can.
You will need an app liie FileBrowser to do this. Of course all file operations will be done through the App itself.

You can, but how are you going to back up those other files?  When (not if) your Time Capsule fails, you risk losing them.  See #Q3 in Using Time Machine with a Time Capsule for details.
Then can i access these files only on the time capsule without connecting it?
Not sure what you mean.  You have to connect a computer, either via Ethernet cable or wirelessly, to read or write to the disk.

  • How can I access video file from sd card on ipad2?

How can I access video file from sd card on ipad2?

Your iPad 2 will see the video if:
It's in a DCIM folder on the top level of the card (which is how most cameras do it)
It's name is 8 characters, no more, no less (CKDI9483 for example)
It's a format that the iPad will play
I've made mp4's of things, folderized them right and named them 'right' and can transfer them to my iPad, so you can use a computer to make the files conform to what the iPad will see.

  • Can I access local files?

I am writing an application using Adobe Air that will have to utilize and store media files locally on a user's computer.  My marketing team now believes that a downloadable application that will be installed on a user's computer will be a dealbreaker for some users due to the fear of a virus, so now they are suggesting that we will have better sales numbers if people just need to log into a website to use the application.  No problem, Air applications can be embedded into a website.  But can an Air application embedded in a browser still store and manipulate files on a user's computer?  Storing media files for a large number of individuals can become cost prohibitive, so rather than store them online, we would like to create a folder on a user's system to organize their files.  Is this possible with a web-embedded Air application?
    Thanks.

AIR applications are always installed on the user's computer. You cannot run an AIR application on a website. On a web page, you can include a link to download or install an AIR application.
AIR applications can access local files.
Flash Player applications can also access local files, but the user first grants permission. For example, see the FileReference.load() and FileReference.save() methods (added in Flash Player 10):
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/flash/net/FileReference .html

  • InDesign CC, can't export to html, can't access unneeded file

In the latest build of InDesign CC (July 2014), the export process to HTML has changed. You used to be able to export a book directly to filtered HTML files. Now the option is no longer in the Book menu, and you must go through the main menu, which does not allow filtered HTML option. I keep getting a crash when I open the resulting HTML file, "Can't access .jar file from SiteBuilder,"--a Yahoo HTML creation program, which I formerly used. The book file contains  only embedded jpg photo files and InDesign documents for chapters, but it calls for this unrelated and unconnected .jar file. Also, It is impossible to choose the "From Selection" option, only the "From Document" option, so I can't export the whole book into HTML, which previous versions enabled me to do.I'm stuck, and now Adobe has stopped offering phone support to subscribers. After wasting a whole day on this single issue, I'm fed up. Is it time to scrap InDesign?  Also, how do you edit an e-pub file created by InDesign? (It misplaces the photo captions)  Dreamwdeavce should be able to do it, but I can't figure out how. Any help would be appreciated. Peter

Export the file from ID as an .idml file and open that resaving as an.indd file with a new name. That should strip out the reference to the unused file.
