Can I alter DataBase Adapter in SOA

Hi
Can I alter DataBase Adapter in SOA or not?
Thanks

Hi,
I don't think DDL is supported in DBAdapter. Can you explain the use case.
One solution might be to use PL/SQL to create the tables.

I have an .MDB file on another machine that i want to read from within SOA composite using database adapter. can i do that ? how ?

Have you checked out the jdbc-odbc bridge from Sun?  I would think you should be able to create a jdbc connection to Microsoft Access.  With that connection, you would then be able to create a jndi entry on the DB adapter from SOA.  I haven't used this before, so I'm not sure how well, or even if it would work.

  • BPEL Database Adapter in SOA Suite10g

    Hi,
I have couple of questions on bpel in SOA Suite 10g:
    1. When I defined the realtionships between tables in the database adapter and try to modify the generated query,I feel it is not considering the modified SQL.
    2. It is not allowing the CLOB datatype in the query.
    3. what should be the data type in target xsd for an input oracle table filed of CLOB datatype or how to convert the CLOB to string format?
    Could someone please answer me..?
    Thanks,
    Soni

    Hi Soni,
Below are the answers to your query.
    1. When I defined the realtionships between tables in the database adapter and try to modify the generated query,I feel it is not considering the modified SQL. ---> I have tried it and the query is getting changed, can you try it again.
    2. It is not allowing the CLOB datatype in the query. --> CLOB datatype is converted into string in xsd
    3. what should be the data type in target xsd for an input oracle table filed of CLOB datatype or how to convert the CLOB to string format? --> CLOB datatype acts as String data type in XSD so no need to type cast.
I hope this answers your query.

  • Access to package through database adapter in Soa suite problems

    Hi,
We have to build a bpel process that inserts data in Oracle EBS custom tables. We have to use Soa suite 10.1.3.4.0.
In Oracle EBS we have made a custom api with a pl/sql record and 2 pl/sql tables as argument.
When i made a database adapter, Jdeveloper made a wrapper package to translate to this custom api.
Under the user apps this works fine.
But I have the following problem: Our customer does not want us to connect to apps schema direct.
So we made another user that is granted to the custom api , the wrapper api and the types for the wrapper api.
I even created public synonyms for all these objects.
But still runtime in BPEL console these errors occurs:

Are the types defined in the same way in both schema's?
Vaguely remember that there was some restriction to use DB and EBS adapter that types had to be owned by the schema that was connecting to it. Please check the docs for this.

  • Problem after restart of a database used by a database adapter in SOA suite

We are migration from Oracle interconnect to SOA suite. I am a bit worried that I am taking a backwards step in robust drift. I restarted a Oracle database that is used as an end point in both interconnect and SOA. In both cases the database adapter in interconnect and the partner link in SOA start throwing java error messages. This is not the problem, what worries me is that with Interconnect restarting the database adapter allows queued messages to be written to the database, nothing goes missing. But with SOA suite the messages that could not be delivered before restarting SOA suite end as "canceled" that is to say they do NOT get completed. What happened to guaranteed transaction delivery? or am i missing something.

    Hi,

  • "Alter Database" command  in Database Standby

    Hi community.
    I have the following situation:
I've ASE 15.7 CE SP121 in two enviroments: System Production and System Standby. The Standby is maintained with load of dump transaction generated in production every 10 minutes.
Now I need increase a database in data portion in 100GB. I know that I must make this in each enviroment (Production and Standby), also I know that I can execute alter database command while the database in the System Standby is offline.
The process that I make is:
    Stop dump transaction in production.
    Stop Load transaction in Standby.
Alter database "on" in Production. Result is Sucessfull.
Alter database "on" in Standby. Result is error:
In this step, I receipt the following error:
The database DBUSER is in the middle of a load sequence. Altering it will not let you load other transaction dumps in the dump-set. If you still prefer to do it please use OVERRIDE option.
In this situation I have that put online database and increase the size. Obiously, I can't load more dump transaction and I should generate a full dump database in production, load this dump in standby and load dump transations after to load of dump database (full).
I simulate my situation in a enviorement of test with pubs3 and then of load the last dump transaction, I can do alter database  in my DB standby without problems and after of this process I continue load dump transaction.
I don't understand why receipt this error?
    Any recomendation?
    Thanks!
    Cristian Lopez.

I can't recall trying to extend an offline database so what I'd probably do (short of waiting for a definitive answer from someone @ SAP/Sybase ... either here in the forum or from tech support) ...
1 - Assuming you have to perform a full database dump/load after issuing 'alter database', decide on a good time to perform the full database dump/load and then ...
2 - follow your steps (above) and then try restarting the log dump/load and ...
3a - if the log dump/load succeeds ... you've got nothing else to do
3b - if the log dump/load fails, then proceed with the full database dump/load

The docs says I need to add an Outbound Connection Pool to to SOA DbAdaptor in WebLogic. The problem is I can’t seem to make my changes take effect. This is the same error recorded here:
    BPEL DB adapter
The problem is when trying to change the property, xADataSourceName, the changes don’t take effect. I also notice that in our test environment I get a dialog box to change the deployment plan. On my local WLS, I don’t get this dialog box. Either way the changes to xADataSourceName will not take effect.
There must be a simple solution, I just don’t see it.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

When you enter the xADataSourceName property, did you hit enter on the field? If you simply tab off the field and hit save changes without hitting the enter key then it doesn't record the change to the property.

  • Can we split and fetch the records in Database Adapter

    Hi,
I designed a Database Adapter to fetch the records from oracle Database. Some time, the Database Adapter need to fetch around 5000, or 10,000 records in single shot. In that case my BPEL process is choking and getting error as
java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space at java.util.Arrays.copyOf(Arrays.java:2882) at java.lang.AbstractStringBuilder.expandCapacity(AbstractStringBuilder.java:100)
Could someone help me to resolve this?
In Database Adapter can we split and fetch the records, if number of records more then 1000.
ex. First 100 rec as one set and next 100 as 2nd set like this.
    Thank you.

You can send the records as batches useing the debatching feature of db adapter. Refer documentation for implementation details.

  • Can I install two versions of SOA suite using same Oracle database

    Condition:
I installed Weblogic server(10.3.5) and SOA Suite(11.1.1.5), and
I used RCU 11.1.1.5 to create the schemas(Oracle DB 11g-111170) for it.
    Plan:
Now I plan to install another Weblogic server(10.3.6) and SOA Suite (11.1.1.6)
and I will used RCU 11.1.1.6 to create the schemas for it.
    Question:
Can I use same database(Oracle DB 11g-111170) for the two versions of SOA Suite? that is
Can I Run the RCU 11.1.1.6 to create the schemas for SOA Suite (11.1.1.6) on the oracle database server I already used for SOA Suite 11.1.1.5?
If I can use same database for the two versions of SOA Suite, how can I resolve schame name conflict?

    Hi
    1. YES. You can absolutely use SAME DB to have multiple Versions of SOA Schemas.
    2. Any SOA/BPM will need basically 4/5 schemas like SOAINFRA, MDS, ORABAM, ORASDPM etc. based on what you choose. And each of these Schemas can be Prefixed. Default prefix is like DEV, so schemas are like DEV_SOAINFRA, DEV_MDS etc
    3. Very Simple. When you Run RCU 11.6 and give the same old db details, in next screen it will automatically show the new Prefix for the schemas it will create. If DEV is used, it will show DEV1 like that. So just choose a Different Prefix and you are good to go.
I have the same thing on my side. Single Database. Multiple RCU for SOA 11.5 and SOA 11.6 with different Prefixes:
    SOA 11.5 -> DEV115_SOAINFRA, DEV115_MDS, DEV115_ORABAM etc
    SOA 11.6 -> DEV116_SOAINFRA, DEV116_MDS, DEV116_ORABAM etc
I Used the Prefixes like DEV115, DEV116 so that I know exactly which version of RCU schema they refer to.
For QC, UAT, PROD we used prefixes like QC_*, UAT_*, PROD_* etc.
NOTE: When you drop the schemas for some reason, make sure to give the appropriate prefixes so that only they are dropped and not others.
    Thanks

  • Can't create a Database Adapter

My BPEL process was functioning properly, but I wanted to rename some of my database and FTP adapters. When I did this they quit working, so I then deleted the old adapters and attempted to create new adapters, duplicate my previous efforts, with the new names I wanted. Unfortunately when I try to create a new Database Adapter (I hit the finish button in the wizard) it just sits there with the dialog box saying "Processing, please wait..." and never creates the wsdl file or anything else.
Anybody know how I can fix this? I'm using 10.1.3

After doing some more testing I think I found the problem. It wasn't bad wsdl files or references, but instead that my database adapter names were too long.
After I recreated my project I ran into problems with my database adapter again. This time it created the adapter but did not allow my Invoke to access any operations... the drop down box for operations was empty even though the roles were appropriately configured. As a test I duplicated my nonworking adapter and changed the name to something much shorter, and it worked. Absolutely no other differences existed between the two adapters.
I can understand there being limits to variable name lengths, but it would be nice if JDeveloper would alert you that your names are too long rather than just breaking when other components try to access them.

  • Can I use polling frequency for Database Adapter

I need to use Database Adapter that acts like FileAdapter. Can I set polling frequency for my Database Adapter, so that the adapter can query every 5 secs?

You can use polling feature when you configure your DB adapter Operation Type as "Poll for New or Changed Records in Table"
If you use Adapter configuration wizard it will promot for "Pollling Options" and Polling Frequency is the option which you can configure in seconds, mins or hrs
