Can I block saving passwords by default but allow a few exceptions?

For my father's PC (who is a senior citizen), I would like to generically block Firefox from remembering passwords. However I would like it to remember the password for a few select websites (Yahoo Mail, Facebook, NYTimes). Is this possible?
You seem to be ale to generically allow Firefox to remember passwords and block certain websites. But not vice-versa.
I've tried going to: "about:permissions" but if you change the Default Permissions for All Pages to Block for Store Passwords, then that also blocks passwords for any individual entries

You will have to toggle the Password Manager on/off to have Firefox save or fill names and passwords.
Only if the Password Manager is enabled then you can use it.
Maybe it is an idea to hide the notification icon and the popup (or only the popup) on the Navigation Toolbar, so that Firefox won't offer to remember passwords.
Add code to the <b>userChrome.css</b> file below the default @namespace line.
<pre><nowiki>@namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); /* only needed once */
#password-notification-icon { display: none !important; }
#notification-popup[popupid="password-save"] { display: none !important; }
</nowiki></pre>
The customization files userChrome.css (user interface) and userContent.css (websites) are located in the <b>chrome</b> folder in the Firefox profile folder.
* Create the chrome folder (lowercase) in the <xxxxxxxx>.default profile folder if this folder doesn't exist
* Use a plain text editor like Notepad to create a (new) userChrome.css file in this folder (the names are case sensitive)
* Paste the code in the userChrome.css file in the editor window and make sure that the userChrome.css file starts with the default @namespace line
* Make sure that you select "All files" and not "Text files" when you save the file via "Save file as" in the text editor as userChrome.css. Otherwise Windows may add a hidden .txt file extension and you end up with a not working userChrome.css.txt file
You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)

Hello, have a problem with Safari. I can't remove saved passwords of websites.
    My steps:
    - Settings
    - Safari
    - Passwords & autofill
    - Saved passwords
    - I write 4-digit code
    - I click on "Edit", select all sites, then I click on Remove
If I go to saved passwords again, there are sites I removed.
Any solution please? I tried clean install of iOS, didn't help me.

To backup or restore passwords in Firefox you need these two files:
    * key3.db (encryption key; [http://kb.mozillazine.org/key3.db])

  • Can't remove saved passwords from Safari

Using 10.10.1, Safari 8.0, upgrade from Snow Leopard.
When I try to Remove one or all passwords in Safari's Passwords prefpane, nothing happens. How do I fix this?
In a possibly related issue, when I try to delete the X509Anchors keychain file in Keychain Access, nothing also happens.

Back up all data before proceeding.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership, permissions, and access controls to the default. If you've intentionally set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it, but you do need to follow the instructions below.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user, and the one in question is not an administrator, then go to Step 2.
Triple-click anywhere in the following line on this page to select it:
    sudo find ~ $TMPDIR.. -exec chflags -h nouchg,nouappnd,noschg,nosappnd {} + -exec chown -h $UID {} + -exec chmod +rw {} + -exec chmod -h -N {} + -type d -exec chmod -h +x {} + 2>&-
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command may take several minutes to run, depending on how many files you have. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1, if you prefer not to take it, or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Start up in Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
              Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open. In that window, type this:
    resetp
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
Select your startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
               ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • Can I Block Saving of Video Clips?

I have video clips (MOV files) on a website which icons in a PDF that I built can link to and open (to clarify: the icons are actually just virtual boxes around icon pictures that were in the Word doc from which it was built). Usually, the MOV files open in a web page (that's good enough), and the user can right click on them and save them (that's bad); note: my default browser is Foxfire.
However, I notice that if I have MS Internet Explorer open (but only if I have it actually open), the MOV files open in their own Quicktime window (good!), and the user cannot click on them and save them (great!). Is there any way I can force this desired behavior when I build the PDF?
(Note that the consumers of the PDF will have it resident on their local PC.)
    Thanks for your help!

I have just learned (as a side issue consulting with a godaddy.com tech) that this is a function of the user's browser and how it's configured. So it seems I can do nothing from within Acrobat to force the behavior I desire. However, according to this tech, SWF files are harder to simply save to the users hard drive. (Doubtless anything can be hacked, but these not sophisticated users, and I intend to remove the restriction later anyway.)
So... is there a way to convert MOV's to SWF's?  I notice that lots of products on the web claim to do that, but are there any you would recommend, not only as one capable converting MOV to SWF with little loss of information, but as most likely safe (i.e., not be a hidden way to deliver malware)?
    Thanks.

  • Safari 7.0.5 problem-- I can't erase saved passwords-- I delete it in Preferences, it keeps entering the old password. I just got locked out of a bank account-- AGAIN!

I changed my password for an important account.
I deleted the old password under preferences on Safari.
I entered the new password and it asked to save it.
Next time I went to the account----it entered the old password--- and after three tries, I was locked out of the account.
I re-did the whole process--- it happened again!
    Help!

Passwords saved by Safari are actually stored in Keychain Access.
Open Keychain Access located in   HD > Applications > Utilities
    Select Passwords on the left.
Type in the name of the website you are trying to change the password for top right corner of the Keychain Access window.
That website keychain should be there.
Then right or control click that keychain then click Delete.
Then back to Safari. From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
    Click:  Remove All Website Data
Then select the Passwords tab then delete the the website. Make sure: AutoFill user names and passwords is selected.
Now go to the bank account website and try changing your password.

  • Where can I see saved passwords, privacy setting, advanced, etc. Using Window 7

I am using Windows 7. In the past with Win XP using Firefox the was a "tools" button on the right-hand side of the browser, you clicked it then clicked "options" once there you had the option of viewing your saved passed words, privacy settings, choosing or changing your homepage, advanced settings, etc. With Win 7 and the updated Firefox browser those tools/options appear to be gone, at least I can't find them. Can someone tell me where I now go to make such changes?

Press F10 or tap the Alt key to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily.

can i restore my iphone from icloud from a previous back up, running back to may?

I believe only the most recent backup is saved in iCloud, if that's what you're asking.  If you haven't done an iCloud backup since May, then you could restore from it.  Otherwise, I believe it's been overwritten.
