Can I browse non-local disk with a JFileChooser?

Hello :)
Is there any possibility to browse files on other computers with a JFileChooser? Neither API doc nor tutorial say a word about reading from non-local disk.
I tried it this wayJFileChooser chooser = new JFileChooser();
try{
chooser = new JFileChooser(new File(new URI("http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/docs/guide/collections/")));
// I believe  http: is wrong here,  but what is correct?
} catch (URISyntaxException mue){
mue.printStackTrace();
}and got java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: URI scheme is not "file"

Only if those non-local disks are mounted to the PC you are using. I'm not aware that Java can actually mount it for you. So either it's a shared or mapped drive in Windows or a mounted drive in Unix. It can't use http because the HTTP protocol doesn't really allow for file browsing, per se. Web servers can serve a directory listing for directories if it's enabled on the server and no default file is in the given directory, but that isn't so much used anymore.

  • Backup with brarchive/brbackup on local disk with RMAN

    Hello,
i want to backup on a local disk with rman. Can i use the archive_function copy_delete_save?
futhermore i have the following question:
backup_dev_type= rman_disk  => What is an external backup tool?
    Best regards

    > i want to backup on a local disk with rman. Can i use the archive_function copy_delete_save?
    Hi Lutz,
    why shouldn't you?
Anyhow, the more important question here is: what sense does this make?
The Oracle archive logs are saved to disk.
Now you want to copy them - to disk.
Then you want to delete the original - on disk.
And finally you want to save the copies you made - to disk again !?
Since the archive logs are incredible important for the recovery you should use a tape or something like that for the final storage.
    > futhermore i have the following question:
    > backup_dev_type= rman_disk  => What is an external backup tool?
Sorry, this is not even a proper question.
With "external backup tool" a backup solution like NetWorker is meant.
To integrate these backup systems into the BRTOOLS backup process you can use the backint interface.
RMAN is kind of handled similarly from the BRTOOLS perspective - as a tool that is called to handle the files, just like dd, cpio, copy...
Hmm... you may want to check the documentation on this whole topic. It's not too much to read and afterwards you will have a much better grasp of it: [Database Backup|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2004/helpdata/en/6a/081d7ce5c8fa44af33bd1258547020/content.htm]

  • Can I use DVD+R disks with my MacBookPro, OS10.7.5, and iMovie 6 and IDVD 7.1.2

Can I use DVD+R disks with my MacBookPro, OS10.7.5, and iMovie 6 and iDVD 7.1.2  ???? I have always used DVD-R.  I made a mistake in ordering and got 100 DVD+R .  Would it be advisable to return them?

Yes, you can use them.  As I recall the only concern is that they may not work in DVD players manufactured before 2002.

  • Can you access non-Oracle database with HTML DB?

Can you access non-Oracle database with HTML DB? If not, will this be possible in the future?
I realize HTML DB is not an open-source product. However, it is necessary sometimes to get non-Oracle database info. JDeveloper supports this. It does not appear to me that HTML DB does. This is a major drawback to it being a product for more potential applications that rely on other database technology such as MySQL, etc.
If it is possible, is this brain surgery to do it. HTML DB offers fast simplified development and it would be good if it was built in. Does anyone know of an example of accessing non-Oracle database that is available?

    12282,
In general, HTML DB gives you access to Oracle database facilities. These include heterogeneous services. Please search this forum for keyword "heterogeneous" and you can follow the threads that interest you.
As for the comparison with brain surgery, I'd rank them about the same in terms of raw thrill.

How can I do an startup disk with DiskWarrior included?
I want to do it with System 9.2.2. for those days that apperas an ? in the disk... buf!

Remember what I said earlier? ""The tricky parts... Then install your wanted version of Mac OS 9""...
Install is a key word here.
Launch your latest Mac OS 9 CD and run the Installer targeting the mounted image. I prefer to do a minimum universal install from within the installer. Uncheck items of no use. If your CD is an older version of Mac OS 9, run the following version of an updater. Same can be done to update your utilities so long as there is a updater available for the utility.

Copying an already installed System Folder, is a bit to be desired, as you have tons of manual trashing (fixing, weeding, etc.) to do.

Bootable CDs normally contain a copy protected System Folder that is equivalent to fooling around with mother nature. It unfortunately leaves you with many CD cake boxes of coasters in the process.

By the way— A mounted image gets refreshed in a funny way. Drag the mounted image to the trash and "chug-chug". Click on the [your named].img file and a fresh image gets mounted. Just keep an eye on both as you get the feel.

  • How can I erase my hard disk with OS X 10.8.2?

How can I erase my hard disk with OS X 10.8.2?

If you want to erase the hard disk and reinstall OS X, follow these steps:
    1. Back up your data to an external disk if you don't want to lose everything. When you erase a hard disk, everything is deleted.
    2. Press Command and R keys while your Mac is starting to start into OS X Recovery, and open Disk Utility.
    3. Select Macintosh HD on the sidebar, go to Erase tab and erase the disk.
    4. After erasing the disk, close Disk Utility and reinstall OS X, so OS X will be installed with factory settings.
Don't forget to install iLife applications after the installation, if you need them. They come in the Applications DVD (if your Mac came with Snow Leopard or older), or open App Store > Purchases and download them

  • How can I get a local path of the local disk with swf

    Since FileReference.download() doesn't download multiple
files, I want to download files with php ftp_get by FTP.
I need to pass the local path of the local disk where I can
download the files from a remote serveur. How can I get a prompt to
have a user choose a folder on his computor (local disk), if any
    way possible?

OK, at least 3 is working.
I don't know how you have a Tape Recorder icon on your Home Screen. I cannot add one myself. But, I am running Holo Launcher in replacement of the default LG "Optimus" User Interface. It's much better in my opinion.
Try long pressing the icon and select Edit and maybe you can change some attribute of the icon.
Another thing you could do, is long-press an empty area of your desktop, to add an icon. Select Shortcut, then Select Contact, and scroll through your contact list and choose the contact that you added for *86.
You realize if you have voice mail you haven't heard, there is a tape recorder icon in the notification bar, which you touch and pull down, then press it to dial voicemail.
If that functionality doesn't work, you MIGHT want to consider doing a factory data reset on your device, but that is going to nuke all your personalizations and cause you work to set up again.

  • Can I use non-apple earphones with radio remote?

I have a new Ipod 3g and want to buy the radio remote. Must I use the earbuds supplied with the radio remote or can I use non-apple earbuds and earphones? Will I still get good radio reception with a non-apple earphone?

Yes you can. I use Sennheiser PX100's and they work just fine.
Plug the headphones into the remote rather than the iPod to get the best reception.

  • Can you make a recovery disk with a mac?

I have two mac computers. One works that I currently use for personal use. But I recentlly bought a "fixer up iBook G4" that needs an install disk of 10.5 Leopard. I cannot find my disks that came with my Powerbook g4 but can I make a restore disk or recovery disk so I can restore the operating system that's on the iBook g4?
    Thanks in advance!

Connect the two computers using a FireWire cable. Use Target Disk Mode to clone the one drive to the other. Boot the iBook into TDM, then boot the PB normally. The iBook's drive should appear on the PB's Desktop. Use Disk Utility to erase the iBook's hard drive, then use Restore to clone the PB's drive to the iBook:
Clone using Restore Option of Disk Utility
      1. Open Disk Utility in the Utilities folder.
      2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
      3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
      4. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination
          entry field.
      5. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
      6. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive.

  • How can i make my local disk mounted peramently

i want to share my local disk to the network but i have a bad problem....
the problem is when i reboot my local station i must to mount more time the disk manually,,, can anyone have an idea about how can i share my patition without
mount it for each reboot, in another word how can i make my disk mounted automatically on reboot
    thanks

Depending on how it is being shared and how you mount it, you may just need to edit your vfstab file to have the nfs mount made 'permanent'. That, of course, assumes this is being done via nfs!

  • Can't sync my local contact with gmail, help please.

    Hi all,
I originally had my contact on BB Bold, then when i bought Z10 i transferred the contact using bb Link, now i have another phone (Samsung Galaxy S4) and i want my contact to by synced between both using gmail, so i configured my gmail on both devices, the configuration is 100% correct because in Z10 if i open Contacts then select Gmail category, and create a new contact i find it after a while in my Samsung,
but the problem is all my contacts available in the (All) which i believe its saved locally
    Best Regards,
    Alaa Bayer.

    Thanks alot elessar,
The problem that i moved my contact from my bold to Z10 using Link, and my contacts was saved localy in the Bold and the same in Z10, so i never used Gmail or so what ever to sync the contacts.
but now to transfer my contacts from Z10 to Samsung Galaxy S4 i wanted to sync these local contacts with Gmail, but when i configured Gmail on Z10 it creates like a different container which is ofcourse empty, so if i go to All, i see my contacts, but if i go to Gmail contacts i have nothing.
if i create a new contact in Gmail container it copied immidetly to the Samsung so sync and configurations is OK.
So my problem  to move the contacts on my Z10 from Local container to Gmail container.
actully after alooooot of searches i found a solution and it worked perfectly, i installed on my Z10 a software name (IntouchApp) which can see the local container on Z10 and sync them to IntouchApp servers then install the same softwar in my Galaxy and sync the contacts, then on the galaxy i exported the contacts to SD Card, then import it to Gmail, and finally i got my contacts on Gmail.
i don't know why Blackberry completly separate the contacts as containers and there is no option to transfer from one to another.
in any way i just sold out my Z10 yesterday and bye bye blackberry for every.

  • Non-journaled disk with a .journal file

I am running a virus scan on my internal hard drive and I find three files that cannot be scanned:
    .hotfiles.btree
    .journal
    .journalinfoblock
None of these are current (timestamps ca 2005) and the disk is running with Journaling disabled.
Why can't these be accessed? Could the be viral? Why do the stay on the disk if I am not journaling, should the journal feature delete them if they are not in use?
I am curious because my disk seems to be running constantly, and my computer is running very slowly.
    I use a 15" powerbook G4 running at 1.5 GHz

    HI Thomas,
There are no known Mac viruses.
One reason for a computer to slow down is insufficient disk space. Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon on your Desktop, then click: Get Info. In the Get Info window, click the discovery triangle so it's facing down. You will see; Capacity and Available Make sure you have 10% available disk space, 15% is better. Insufficient available space, can cause performance issues, system corruption, and possible loss of data.
Check your hard disk for errors. Restart your Mac while holding down the C key, pressing the power button and inserting your install disk all at the same time. An Installer window will open, but do not proceed with any installations. Instead, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Disk Utility. In the Disk Utility window click First Aid, and then click Verify. If Disk Utility reports errors, click Repair. When Disk Utility is finished, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Disk. Select MacintoshHD 10.x.x and click Restart.

  • Can't use non apple mouse with hard drive test?

Having trouble reading an installation CD for a new scanner. Laptop with Tiger fine. Not iMac. So, was trying to run Hardware Test. Inserted disk, restarted with option key down. Image comes up. Can't select anything because Macally mouse won't work in harddrive test mode. Mouse plugged into port on back of computer, not in keyboard. Do I have to find the original apple mouse?
    Thanks for help! Judy

It should work, I have a non-Apple mouse that I use for that and it works just fine. Perhaps Macally mouses require special software to run, maybe you should check their web site. I know my Wacom, what I usually use, is completely dead until my login window opens.
So, yeah, I think you need to find the original Apple one.

  • Can I route non-XML files with NW PI 7.0?

    Hello,
I have NW 7.0 PI installed. I need to implement very simple scenario:
    1. There are two folders Source and Target
    2. Any file (non-XML, binary for example) comes to the Source folder
    3. File needs to be picked up and routed without any modifications to the Target folder
    Questions:
    1. Can I implement that with NW? I guess I can
    2. How do I do that? Is there any example or some description of implementing such a simple scenario (I have a few samples on how to implement complex scenarios that work with XML files, but I don't need that complexity)
    Thanks in advance.

  • Cannot browse to local site with custom port - Firefox removes the port

For local development on our Macs we use MAMP Pro, which uses the port 8888 for sites.
Since upgrading to Firefox 14, if we enter the URL of a local site into Firefox, it removes the custom port we've added and returns a 403 error. Chrome and Safari work without issue as they don't delete the port.
For example, if I browse to http://my.test.site.localhost:8888
which up until version 14 worked fine, Firefox removes the :8888 and instead tries to load http://my.test.site.localhost, which fails.
If I browse direct to an inner page like http://my.test.site.localhost:8888/page1 it works and the port stays. But it won't work to the root URL.
This is causing major issues for us. It's not a banned port - why is Firefox ignoring the port we enter?

Yep. Same issue. The port and the trailing slash are removed.
Have cleared caches, dumped cookies, and deleted and fresh installed Firefox. Can't seem to solve it.
