Can I exchange my MacBook for a new one?

Ok, so my Dad bought a MacBook for me yesterday, and he wants it now. But he doesn't want mine, he wants a new one. He wants to exchange my one-day old MacBook for a new MacBook that is exactly like mine, cept still in the box. Is this possible? Or would I just have to return mine and buy a new one?

In the United States, you can return your new computer (as long as it was not custom-configured at the factory) for a refund for any reason up to 14 calendar days from the purchase date. Apple will charge yo a 10% restocking fee for doing this. If your computer was purchased online and custom configured (added RAM, a larger hard drive or pre-installed software), then you cannot return it for a simple refund. You can find the complete sales policies here:

but unfortunately I lost my check
Can I exchange my iPad for another one with retina display with extra payment?

Did you purchase it at an Apple Store?  If so, then you should be able ot have them look up the receipt in their system.  If you purchased it at another store, check their policies.  IIRC, Best Buy allows you to exchange items without a reciept, but they won't refund without one.  Other stores may have other policies.

  • Would Apple exchange my Macbook for a new one for free?

Will Apple exchange my Macbook for another without having to pay the '10% Restocking Fee'? It has been under 2 weeks since I've bought my Macbook. The reason I want to exchange it is because:
Ever since I've installed the latest updates, my Macbook has been performing like a 1980 computer, not a 2007 computer. Since I've installed the updates, it has:
1.) Loading pages on the internet has slowed down by ALOT. I mean it takes about 20 seconds to load the Apple.com page.
    2) My download speed has slowed down to about 60/KB per sec. It used to be about 600/KB per sec.
    3) Videos take FOREVER to load, as if I had dial-up. I have Cable Internet.
    4) Games I play lag WAY more then they did before the updates. A game has even froze. It never used to do this.
Would Apple replace my Macbook for free? And is it worth returning, I mean, Would a HD format or something fix my problems?
I've tried emptying the cache, trying Firefox, resetting my PRAM, and nothing seems to work totally.

This is the returns policy for the apple store online. So provided its within the 14 days you should be able to get a refund. Take a look at the policy below.

However, you may not return a Product and claim a refund if the Product concerned is:

    b) a personalized iPod with an engraving made in accordance with your specifications.

junked old macbook for a new one. changed apple id password from a different mac. i want to login and it asks for name and password. no matter what i type i cant seem to login. why cant i just enter my apple id and password. or is there a way to change whatever name and password are on the new one from another mac so i can login. anything helps...thanks

Just open System Preferences>Users & Groups and unlock the preference pane with your root password.
Set the New Account to be an Administrator and fill in the rest of the data and then click "Create User".
I would suggest using this user to be YOU with admin capabilities. I wouldn't use the root user - too much damage could occur if you're not sure what you're doing. If you have files, etc., that you want to move to this account, simply but them in the Shared folder - or if you 'rescued' some old files and the like from your 'trashed' MBP, you can put them in your NEW admin account folders.
Hope I've explained myself well - call back with any questions!

  • I have bought an iPhone 4S in Brazil and I would like to know if I can replace my old iPhone for a new one (iPhone 5S), at some Apple Store in USA, if I pay just the difference between both values.

I have bought an iPhone 4S in Brazil and I would like to know if I can replace my old iPhone for a new one (iPhone 5S), at some Apple Store in USA, if I pay just the difference between both values.

    You're welcome.
I would advise against that for the reasons I provided.
Could I have my iPad 2 for the new one paying the difference between their values?
No. Sell the existing yourself and use the proceeds to purchase a new iPad.

  • I can't access safari after exchanging faulty phone for a new one today

I have just had my first iphone exchanged today at the apple store for a new one - faulty microphone.  They started it all up for me, and I came home and synced all my apps etc.  But i found that they weren't downloading and I couldn't access safari and therefore couldn't open up gmail etc.  So I decided to restore my iphone to original settings.  That has helped with being able to download all my apps but I still can't access safari.  I'm not sure what to do now.  And feel that I will have to return to town and get it sorted out, unless someone can help me here.

Is the Safari icon there? If it isn't, check your Restrictions in Settings<General<Restrictions. Safari may have been turned off.
If it is there, what is happening when you connect to the internet? You may want to reset your network settings in Settings<General<Reset<Network Settings

  • Would you exchange this iphone for a new one?

Having some issues and seriously considering exchanging my new 32GB 3GS for a 16GB version. I have 2 weeks left in my trial period. My only fear is that I get one that is even worse.
Are these concerns major enough to do the switch?
    CURRENT CONS:
    1) Keyboard is sometimes unresponsive for a few seconds...occasionally pauses during texting/emailing and then spits out several letters all at once
    2) Occasionally receiving duplicate emails of everything....also, every so often it says my username/password are incorrect
    3) I notice that applications sometimes open accidentally/randomly?
    4) Soft earpiece volume (symptom of the 3GS itself?)
    CURRENT PRO's:
    1) Battery life seems pretty decent, compared to some of the horror stories I am reading about on here
    2) Haven't dropped a call yet (over 2 week trial period), though one caller said they couldn't hear me very well
    Thoughts? Thanks....

It could be a defective iPhone upon receiving. It could be application glitches and may be resolved by a restore or Clean Restore. If you used a backup from a 3G to 3GS there have been known issues from this. It could be some 2.2.1 to 3.0 applications you downloaded and there are many issues from that as well.
It's better to delete all your applications and redownload them through the iTunes PC and have no applications on the iPhone and reinstall them from a clean installation.
    2) Occasionally receiving duplicate emails of everything....also, every so often it says my username/password are incorrect
As the previous poster have said, it could be more than one email account or an incorrect setup of your e-mail account which I recommend deleting all your email accounts and add them again.
    3) I notice that applications sometimes open accidentally/randomly?
It could be a 3GS software glitch or an application glitch. It could be the application when installed by the computer or downloaded directly to the 3GS model was installed incorrectly or poorly programmed. You could try uninstalling that application or all applications and reinstall them all. Sometimes a Clean Restore helps.
    4) Soft earpiece volume (symptom of the 3GS itself?)
Could be a defective headset and you have 30 days to replace the headset with a new one. Another flaw is if you twisted it around or it got knotted up, it can damage the wires and make them useless. After 30 days (unless AT&T has changed their purchase policy) you pay $30 for a new one but I think they only serve the original 3G headsets and not the 3GS headsets for replacements.
    1) Battery life seems pretty decent, compared to some of the horror stories I am reading about on here
As far as this goes, the battery life varies between usage of applications actually. If you spend a good amount of time playing an High Definition game like Star Defense or an Internet High Definition game like Aurora Feint II: Arena Daemons (Don't get the Beginning one. That one *****.), that would definitlely speed drain your iPhone.
    2) Haven't dropped a call yet (over 2 week trial period), though one caller said they couldn't hear me very well
It could be a tower you are associating with at a call that needs to be reported as an issue. There have been a few towers I reported a while back in my area along DC and Northern Virginia that constantly have calling issues (well data for me the most part) and they may fix it.

  • Can i turn in my trade in my old macbook for a new one ?

Cani trade in my old macbook for credit towards a new one ??

No, Apple does not accept trade-ins.

  • How to exchange used iphone for a new one?

    Good morning,
I have two iphones 1st generation and one from the 3rd generation, so I would like to know how much it cost to do the exchange.

Apple does not have any exchange program.  You can sell them online to a buy-back comapny like gazelle.com, use the Apple recycle program (if available where you are) for store credit, or sell it yourself.
But to actually get the new one in your hands, you will have to buy one.

  • My iPod touch 5th gen isn't charging and when I plug my working charger in that I've always used a message pops up that says "This accessory may not be supported". So can I send it in for a new one if I have a warranty?

For Christmas, my older sister got me a portable charger for my iPod. I'm not sure if it was capable with apple products, but it charged my iPod when I used it. My brother came upstairs and took my portable charger from me, so I went to go use my wall charger. The wall charger I have has always worked and it charges my mom's iPhone, so the problem I have isn't my charger. After I plugged my iPod in my charger, a message popped up saying "This accessory may not be supported". I was confused because this never has happened before, so I tried my portable charger after I got the message. The portable charger didn't charge my iPod anymore apparently after I tried my charger. All this happened the day after Christmas, so it's almost been a month without my iPod charging properly. My iPod does charge, but only when I plug it in halfway and am about to turn it all the way off. The only way I get it to charge is when I plug it in real fast as soon as I turn my iPod completely off. I've also restarted my iPod, cleaned out the charging area, asked people at stores that work with technology, and etc, so if someone could help me resolve this problem that would be legit because I use my iPod on a daily basis.

That message is usually due to a bad cable.

  • Can I exchange a macbook ordered online from China for a macbook in the U.S?

Hi so my brother lives in Shanghai and he ordered online for me the new macbook so it can be shipped to where I live in the U.S. I was thinking that after I receive the computer I could exchange it for the macbook pro in a U.S. apple store because I don't like how the new macbook is so thin and doesn't have any usb ports. Is it alright if I exchange a macbook ordered online in China for a macbook pro in a U.S. store? Because the macbook my brother ordered was $1299 but then he bought it through the education store so it turned out to be $1249. And since the macbook pro w/ retina display is also $1299, can I exchange the macbook for the pro? Or are macbooks ordered online from China different from American macbooks that I can't exchange it in a U.S. store? Thanks for reading/ or answering!

Because that is their policy, if it is less than 14 days old you can return it for a refund, but that will have to be done in Shanghai.

  • I want to exchange my iPhone 5 for a new one, but I bought it online from the factory (unlocked), how do I do this? Can I go to a retail store? or Should I send it back by mail?

So I bought this iPhone 5 probably a year ago now, and I want to exchange it for a new iPhone 5, or if possible an iPhone 5s (if they don't have iPhone 5 anymore), idk.
EITHER WAY, I've read in the web a little about this and apparently I can't do it via going to a physical retail store. Or can I?
ps: on a side note, I heard I need to pay a $50 dollars fee in order to use my AppleCare + warranty, the "exchange your iPhone for a new one" one.
But a friend here in Mexico actually just exchanged his and they didn't charged him a thing. Is this also the same in the US? Can I exchange it here in Mexico? Or what are my options here, since I bought it from Apple.com/online?

The program is for replacement since Apple does not repair iDevices...you take your non-working or damaged iPhone to an Apple store genius bar, or send to Apple service, and they provide a refurbished unit as a replacement, for a fee, of course.  You will have to talk with Apple to see if you get all components or just the iPhone replaced.
With AppleCare+ you can have two out-of-warranty replacements for a cost of $49 each.
