Can I find photos from an entire event that were just loaded but seem to have disappeared?

Can I find photos from an entire event that seem to have disappeared?

Larry,
I have a Mac Book Pro  2.53 GHz  Mid 2009
Using OS X lion 10.75
I don't know what version of iphoto....just what was originally installed but I use an external storage drive for my photos and use time machine for back up.
I loaded the photos Friday night- thought they went into an event, deleted photos from my camera (dumb, I know) then in the morning a grey box with event date shows palm tree and sunset image but no photos.

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto. Version 8.1.2
    - What version of the Operating System. OSX 10.9.4
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
When I open iPhoto, only the most recent photos are shown (last 12 months)
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages? This has been going on for several weeks now. There are no error messages, but yes, I had an update in the system (QuarkXPress 10.1), and the problem has occurred from that day.
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue. I tried to find out where the problem came from, but found no solution.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto? No
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.
Thank you so much for offering help. I am not a proficient user of the system.

As far as i know, you can use a third party iPad photos recovery software to have a try. If i remember correctly, this software has two methods to restore your photos. One is recovering from your iTunes backup, another is recovering from your iPad directly.

It is worth to try if your photos are important.

    Hi QuisB123,
If you are having an issue with reclaiming free space after deleting photos from your iPhone, use the steps in this article to assist -
If you get a "Not enough free space" alert on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
    Specifically -
Orphaned files might remain on your iOS device if it's physically disconnected while syncing music, podcasts, videos, or photos. This can prevent iTunes from syncing the iOS device on subsequent sync sessions. When this happens, you might see a large amount of "Other" disk usage for the iOS device in the Capacity indicator in iTunes. Try these steps:
Turn off the music or photo sync option in iTunes for the device.
Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
Turn the music and photo sync options for the device on again.
Click Apply again to try to sync the device to iTunes. If you see the "Not enough free space" alert, continue to step 5.
Turn off the automatic syncing functions for the iOS device:
Select the iOS device from the iTunes window and click the Summary tab.
Deselect "Automatically sync when this device is connected" and select the "Sync only checked songs and videos" checkbox.
Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
Reduce the amount of data that is being synced to the device and resync the device. For example, if syncing your Music library exceeds the memory capacity of the device, choose "Selected playlists" to transfer rather than "All songs and playlists" under the Music tab in iTunes. If you see the "Not enough free space" alert, continue to step 6.
    Restore using iTunes.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Best,
    Brett L

  • How can I access files from a flash drive that were previously saved using a Windows computer? When I attempt to open the file on MacBook Pro, it is asking to "convert file to"; I also have Microsoft Word installed on the Mac as well.

How can I access files from a flash drive that were previously saved using a Windows computer? When I attempt to open the file on MacBook Pro, it is asking to "convert file to"; none of the options I choose work. I also have Microsoft Office (with Word) installed on the Mac as well.

Format the external drive as FAT32 or ExFAT. Both computers will then be able to read and write to it.

  • I can't download itunes on my windows 7 laptop (it used to be installed but seems to have disappeared)

I can't download itunes on my windows 7 laptop (it used to be installed but seems to have disappeared).
An error message appears near the end of the (ultimately failed) install attempt saying something like 'apple mobile device does not have the right privileges'

until the last programme finishes downloading then it won't open the file because it can't be found.
Which particular .msi file does the message go on to say cannot be found? (Several different .msi files can be mentioned in this context: itunes.msi, bonjour.msi, AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi, etc.)

  • I can't download photos from my camera. instead of a camera listed under devices I have a new icon named wizard.  help?

I can't download photos from my camera.  My camera used to show up under 'devices' when I connected to my Mac.  Today it shows an icon called wizard instead.  When I turn on the camera to start the download, empty picture frames appear, but no photos to import.  Can anyone advise?  Thank you!

Try to import from your camera with Image Capture instead of iPhoto. Does that work?
Do you see your camera as a disk on the Desktop?
Can you open the image files from te Finder?
That wizzard-icon is puzzling. Have you used your camera with a PC and perhaps reformatted the SD Card from a different operating system? Then I'd try to import a different SD Card, that has been reformatted in the camera.

  • Can't find photos from 2010 in iphoto?

Recently I had to find Christmas photos for 2010 as well as my photos from my overseas trip also 2010. I know that i put them into iphoto from my iphone. They aren't on my iphone anymore as that crashed but I did do a backup of the iphone in itunes before that happened. Do photos of a different year get put somewhere else??? I am very new to a Mac. Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers

No, photos from a different year don't get put somewhere else.
Try use a Smart Album ro find them:

Thanks "Old Toad" .... I tried what you suggested: I erased the email accounts, re-booted, re-entered the email settings and changed the the email client to Mail (instead of iPhoto). I still have the message " email server didn't recognize your username/password combination"...... so frustrating and probably something so simple..... but I can't figure it out! I did clean-up everything, cookies/cashes, I did a "Safe Boot", just in case.... still not able to send email via iPhoto, instead I have to drag the photo from iPhoto onto the desktop then attach it to an email.... way too many steps!!!!
And what email client are you using in the successful (if too many step) process?

  • How come you can't stream photos from a primary library that is "paired"?

I think someone else commented about this as well but I never really saw an answer as to why Apple doesn't allow this. How come you can only stream from a shared or secondary library but for a primary or "paired" libray you have to sync photos. If you can stream from a primary it is not working for me.
    Thanks again ATV community!

It's behaving correctly for you, you cannot stream photos from a primary library. Why I don't know, the software has gone through several stages and various options have been offered, so I can only assume it's not an oversight but a deliberate restriction for the better.

  • Can I delete photos on my new iPad that were synched from my iMac's iTunes?

When I try to delete photos from the iPad the delete button shows the number of photos selected but will not function to delete the selections.  Is this normal?

  • Lumia 710 Can't find photos from last month

I have a Nokia Lumia 710 and took pictures in the month of March. On April 1st, a new tile started for April 2012, but my photos for March are no where to be found.
Some of the photos that I took in March, I assigned as the photo for contact photos and are still assigned as their photos, so it seems like they might still be in the phone some where, but where they went, I don't know.
I didn't delete them, I can tell you that much.
    Thanks for your help.

When you use a photo as a contact, it makes a copy, if you delete the photo at a later stage the contact image will remain.
I am not sure how they would have deleted them.
Are they still in your camera roll?
If you got pictures tile and then flick to sort by date, it has a history of your photos sorted by month.
Also If you have connected to Zune recently then they may have synced over, worth a check.

  • Can't find photos from backed up iPad

I recently backed up my iPad running on iOS 4 so the apple store could update my iPad to iOS 6 because it wasn't working on iTunes.  When I went to restore, it stopped because it said the backup didn't finish or something. Where on my computer did my photos and video save? Wen it backed up it said it worked.

iTunes places the backup files in the following places:
    Mac:  ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP:  \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: To quickly access the Application Data folder, click Start, and choose Run. Type %appdata% and click OK.
    Windows Vista and Windows 7:  \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: To quickly access the AppData folder, click Start. In the search bar, type %appdata% and press the Return key.
The files will not be user accessible.
Is there a reason that you chose to not copy the pictures and videos taken with the device to the computer before attempting the upgrade?
