Can I logon to a Grid Control maanagement sonsole from a remote PC?
Three questions:
1. Can I logon to a Grid Control management sonsole from a remote PC?
2. Can I manage heterogeneous Oracle databases (runing on different OSs) using the same Grid Control system?
3. Is Grid Control free to be used. I can not find the price on Oracle Price List.
Hi,
1. Yes you can use it from remote PC if it is not outside the firewall.
2. Yes you can have hetrogeneous database on different server monitored using Grid control.
3. Grid Control is not free. You need to talk to Oracle rep for the pricing detail.

Max no of records that can be dispalyed using ALV GRID CONTROLS
Hi ,
Can any one please tell me the maximum no of records that are allowed to be displayed using the ALV grid controls.
As I am getting dump for more records and I need to control the report based on the max no of records that can be actually diplayed using contols.
Thanks,
Kavya.Dear Kavya.
If you are getting Dump because you have too many records it means that there is something wrong with the program design.
ALV is not meant to display more than few thousands of records.
There is no point is displaying more than few thousands because it will over-flow the users and it will do no good for them.
If the problem is with the Internal-tables that you're using to manipulate the data, you can think of using an intermidiate DB table that will hold summarized data of the DB data and can be filled via a periodic job. This have the benfit of speeding up the ALV program too.
thanx

Is grid control 12c certified from Oracle?
From oracle reading, Grid Control 11g will be upgraded to Cloud Control 12c. But is Cloud Control 12c Oracle certified?
On metalink, certification tab, I can find Grid control 11g certification, but cannot find 12c certification, there are misc messages on that Enterprise Manager group.
Can someone shed some lights? I will really appreciate it.
Thanks
S.For 12c forget Grid Control and use the term Cloud Control. How do you know Enterprise Manager Base Platform - OMS is Cloud Control? Good question... it just is.
If you enter Enterprise Manager Base Platform - OMS, Release:12.1.0.2.0, Linux x86-64 Oracle Linux
And follow the link:Certification Details for Notes and Support information you will see "Enterprise Manager Base Platform - OMS 12.1.0.2.0 is certified on Linux x86-64 Oracle Linux 6"

I need to control a Lion Server from a remote location and need to poke some holes in the firewall, unfortunately, I have no idea what ports those need to be. I can control the Server via the Server Admin application, but it will simply not connect via the Server.app.
Suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

to show hierarchical list data we want to use a tree grid control like RadControl from Telerik (which is to slow for our needs)
after looking for alternatives we found something like
ezzylearning-asp-net-gridview-control. Ok, but we need collapse and expand functionality for our list data which are held in list folders.
better use JavaScript / AngularJS ?
Any advices which product to use or what s the best practise to simply build an asp grid control with expand / collapse feature?Hi,
Based on the information you provided, you problem was related to Visual Studio TreeView control, so I recommend you to post this thread to Visual Studio Forums:

Grid Control 11GR1 and Weblogic Server
Am looking doing a new install of grid control 11gR1 on windows server 2008. I'm not all that familiar with the weblogic server. Can this be installed on the same server that Grid Control is running from?
Hello,
I'm not all that familiar with the weblogic server. Can this be installed on the same server that Grid Control is running from?Yes, you can. For OEM Grid Control 11gR1, you'll have to install WLS 10.3.2 and apply the Patch WDJ7.
You'll have more details on the following Notes of My Oracle Support:
How to Install Web Logic Server 10.3.2 for Installing 11g Grid Control [ID 1063762.1]
How to Download and Apply recommended WLS patch (WDJ7) on WLS home for 11g Grid Control Install/Upgrade [ID 1072763.1]Hope this help.

Oracle Wallet Manager and Grid Control
Can you use OWM for Grid Control? Or is it more recommended to use WebLogic?
I am unable to log into EM due to certificate issues (unless I create an exception in my browser). I have my certificates generated and have put them in OWM...but I'm still having no luck. I'm not sure if I'm even supposed to be using OWM for EM...
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!By default certificate generate/set during installation, it seems your installation is not successful. please check

How to configure EM Grid Control for more than one databases?
Hi,
I'm configuring EM on Oracle 10gRel1 on Linux. I have more than one databases in the server, and I want use IE at my PC to monitor the databases on Linux server. I can configure and access the Grid Control Console by emca for first database, but cannot configure for the second one, unless I remove the first one configurration. How can I configure EM for more than one databases?
Thanks.Thank you everybody.
Yes, I'm talking about DBConsole rather than Grid Control (sorry for misuse the term). I managed to set up DB Console for every DB in the same Linux box (10Rel1). What I did is:
1) stop db console and agent with emctl
2) remove repository with RepManager
3) config with emca
Then I can monitor individual databases from my PC (but have to login with different port).
I'm thinking mybe I should use Grid Control instead. -
Streams configuration using grid control 10.2
can we configure streams thru grid control 10.2 ? Please let me know the step by step streams configuration.
Thanks.Grid Control has a wizard that helps configure table, schema, or full database replication. You can use the wizard to generate a script to do the configuration, ask well. There are some online resources available that cover the replication wizard and monitoring Streams in general with EM.
For example, there is an annotated presentation ( Grid Control 10.2.0.5: Streams Management ) that describes the EM Streams pages and how to use them. Link at: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e10703/tdpii_repcont.htm
There is also an Oracle By Example (OBE) demonstrating 11.2 DBControl Streams management that walks through the replication wizard and other configuration and monitoring. Link at: http://http//www.oracle.com/technology/obe/demos/11gr2/streams11_2/streams_and_em/streams_and_em_viewlet_swf.html
The 11.2 2Day+ Data Replication and Integration book(Chapter 4) also includes a walk-through of the 11.2 DBControl Streams pages. Link at: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e10703/tdpii_repcont.htm#BABEFAFI

Oracle Grid Scheduled jobs disappear from active tab?
Thread was posted before as a similar situation.
Grid Control jobs disappeared from schedule
But was never answered;
For Grid control v10.2.0.3 Unix box.
I was wondering if this is a bug within OGC. Some of the scheduled jobs disappear from the active tab and have to be re-submitted. Does anyone or has anyone experienced this? Agents are in synch, and the only thing that was done was a bounce of the database and possibly the box itself.
Thanks,
Mark S.Hi,
I have upgraded Discoverer 4i EUL to 10g EUL by using auto upgrade utility which comes with the Disocverer 10.1.2 and installed the Discoverer 10g Admin Edition on my PC. And I executed the batchusr_app.sql and assigned a user DISCREP(other than APPS). We are in APPS mode EUL. The script execution completed fine and the EUL5 packages were created under the DISCREP owner. When I log into the Discoverer Admin and select Tools/Privileges and at the point of assigning the result tables to a schema which is DISCREP, I am getting a message saying that 'EUL5_BATCH_REPOSITORY' package is wrong version and batchusr.sql script needs to be run. I ran the batchusr.sql script and when tried to assign the schema to own result tables it gave me the same message.
Any ideas. You may have gone through this during your upgrades or installation.
Thanks,

Some web pages can NOT be displayed after installing grid control 10g R3
I deployed grid control 10.2.0.3 on Linux x86-64 platform this week, but when I tried to logon the console. the Logon page can NOT be displayed. After manually directing to home page, the page showed up. I browsed several modules and found some pages work, some not. Did anyone have the same problem on the latest R3(10.2.0.3) for Linux X86-64? I use Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 (update 3) for AMD 64bit Blade server as the OMS and repository server.
Really appreciate any help. Thanks a lot for your reply. I didn't have any problems during installation.

Can Grid Control 10gR2 create a standby database when primary db uses ASM?
Does anyone know if Grid Control 10gR2 will be able to create a standby database when the primary database uses ASM for data files, redo log files, and archive log files but the standby database will use mounted disks? If it can, would it matter that the primary db will be a RAC cluster and the standby will be a single instance db?
I appreciate your reply and hope you are correct. Have you had a look at the 10gR2 Grid Control to confirm this or are you only going on published statements? The reason I ask is because previous versions of Grid Control claimed to support ASM but they would only allow you to work with them AFTER you had created a standby database manually but you couldn't actually use Grid Control to create a standby database from a primary database that had its log files on ASM disks.

In the sql worksheet if you edit a file, the File->Save button shows as disabled. Also, if you try Cnrtl S, the Save dialog window to select a file keeps coming up - very annoying. In my opinion, that should only come up for SaveAs. Thanks!
