Can I recover music without the cloud?

My 7yr old son has managed to delete his now 89 album on his ipod touch 4th gen less than a day after getting it. I am new to apple so struggling. I didn't create a icloud I don't think but I did buy an ipad too and the music is on that. My question is can i somehow redownload or recover the music?

Music and other purchased media is also availble to redownload from the iTunes store (in many countries), however it's best to keep it in your iTunes library if you're going to delete it from your device because it may no longer be available to redownload if you rely on the iTunes store to "store" your purchased media. If you have iTunes Match, and your music is in your Match library, you can access it from iCloud on all your devices, provided they are signed into your iTunes Match account. Make sure you keep a backup of your music somewhere though as the match process isnt' perfect and you may find that some of your iTunes Match music isn't exactly the same as the original (see https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4112).
The best way to back up your photos is to import them to your computer as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083. If you are out of room on your Mac, get an inexpensive external drive to save your photos on.

Can Genius access music in the cloud or just what's stored locally?

I have over 24000 songs in the Cloud and over 9000 stored locally. When I select a song in iTunes and click the Genius button, a playlist is generated but it only pulls from my local library. Is it possible for Genius to pull music that exists only in the cloud as well?

I have this same request. Please tell us that device-specific Genius is a temporary limitation. Genius does not work well with small datasets--it is naturally cloud-based, and would be a great way to pull desired music onto a device, without having to go through the trouble of explicitly making playlists.
Genius provides a great, "Pandora-like" user experience against my own music, which I value a lot. If Genius remains crippled, I will spend more and more time in Pandora, and less and less time in iTunes. I suspect I am not alone.

How can I move music in the cloud to a specific playlist?

I have music matched several albums to my computer. When I go to move them to a specific playlist it says that it will no longer be in the cloud and will not play on other devices. As an example, christmas music is listed as 'Classical" but I have created a playlist called "Christmas" and want it to only play in that playlist on all my devices. How do I accomplish that? Also, some music in my playlist has a cloud with a line through it. These songs only show up on my computer and not on my other devices.

You can't transfer music (nor any other content) from one account to another account, it will remain tied to the account that downloaded it. Also home sharing only works from a computer to a device (or to another computer), it doesn't work between iOS devices.
Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be redownloaded in all countries) then he could potentially log into your account on his iPod (I assume that it's an iPod Touch) and redownload his music on it, but that might tie his iPod to your account for 90 days : iTunes Store: Associating a device or computer to your Apple ID.

iPod works fine. iPhone songs have cloud/down arrow and will not go away.

I, too, am having this same issue with my purchased music. I have had every issue with iOS 7 and I'm at my wits end. I thought all had been corrected, and then last night I purchased an album, the first time since the update, and it absolutely will NOT download to my phone. I have had it with this iOS7 and one of the phones on my plan is due for upgrade, and I'm THIS close.... Please let me know if you find a solution or if yours is corrected.

It worked the first time immediately after install but never again. I have enabled automatic downloads of music. I see the iCloud icon on the select bar immediately below the search bar with moving diagonal lines, but nothing seems to download. When it worked, the Apple icon in the center box was replaced by a progress bar for each song that was being downloaded. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you already checked your settings for the iTunes & App Store? Are you using the same account on both devices "Settings > iTunes & App Stores"?

The student discounted rate is only for when you’re a student, so it may be more after you graduate and can no longer verify you’re current educational status.
The software has always been licensed, not owned, it was just for a longer period and you could skip paying Adobe until the software was sold old it wouldn’t run on a newer computer, then you’d have to pay, again, for a new version.
Adobe needed a more even revenue stream so switched things to a monthly or yearly payment system and now verifies the license every time you use it.

Yes, it would count against your data. The transfer part is part of your cellular coverage, whether it be from Apple's iCloud or a totally unrelated feed.

So, from the above, if you are sitting in an airplane and suddenly decide you want to listen to a song that has not downloaded to your device then you will have to wait until you can use your service again (or pay the airline to use their wireless).

How do you delete phantom albums from the music on my iPad? I keep all my shareable music in the cloud and don't want to utilize iPad storage. I read the answer that says I have to download the music again so I can delete it but that seems silly.

i have most of my shareable music in the cloud. I try to clean out the downloaded music on my iPad to clean up storage. i used to be able to delete local copied music easily but somehow in ios 8 or so, I lost the ability to delete albums. I read the support suggestion that I should re download this music so I then can delete it. This seems so silly I can't imagine that this was Apple's intention. Anybody got a clue?
