Can I reference a table indirectly (Project Siena)

I'm trying to work around the 15,000 row limit since I have a lot of data I want to pull into my app. I was able to create ten separate tables, and I have a drop down where I want it to change the table for a view based upon what's selected.
The dropdown is populated from a table with two columns, one is the label for the dropdown, the other is the name of the table i'd like to reference.
Is it possible to do any indirection like this?

I'm having the same issue, but don't fully understand what was answered. If my project has four tables:
TableFinder (Column is "TableName")
Table1 (Columns are "ID" and "Name")
Table2 (Columns are "ID" and "Name")
Table2 (Columns are "ID" and "Name")
I also have a Drop Down Box named "DropDown1" (Items is TableFinder!TableName)
Additionally, I have a Gallery (called "Gallery1")
How do I change the data for Gallery1 from Table1 to Table2 to Table3 when I select a TableName in DropDown1?

I don't know what problem you are having with table names that use regular digits. If your table was named "3" instead of "III", the formula would be:
=INDIRECT(MONTH(TODAY())&"::B2") which, on the day ofthis post, corresponds to 3::B2

Siena uses JavaScript to parse date/times, via the TimeValue function. A good specification regarding what is acceptable can be found here:

The example above is truly bizarre: I thought I had seen it all. You will need to turn that form into one of those listed on the above site, using string functions to chop it up and reassemble it into a saner form.

Search whole table (imported from an excel file) for those matching substring (this is an input from user) in project siena

Im trying to search my entire table (data is imported using an excel file - containing 2 cols, description and image url) for those that match the substring entered by the user into an inputText within project siena. I have 2 screens within the project,
the first screen shows all the data in a gallery, the second screen will allow the user to search for those that match the word he/she has enter. The entered word is only a sub string, and I want to search all rows which match that sub string.. Help would

Lest say you have 'Gallery1' in screen1 and 'Gallery2' in screen2. your Excel input table is called 'table1' and your input text box is called 'inputText1'.
If you have bound 'table1' to your 'Gallery1', then you can accomplish what you are trying to do by using this rule on Items property of Gallery2: "Filter(Gallery1!AllItems, InputText1!Text in Description)"
The above formula will filter out rows that have description containing the input text.

you can use vlookup() (or any of the lookup family of functions) to locate an item based on a key value:
Here is an example of something you can do with two tables:
The table on the right is title "Data" and stores a list of names with age and favorite color.
The table on the left uses the value in the first column to lookup up information in the table Data
in the table on the left:

I know this look complicated. so I'll break it up into smalled pieces:
first the "&" is called the concatenate operator and joins two strings. like this:
a string is a set of characters between double quotes.
so "string 1" & "string 2" becomes "string 1string2" or "Sam " & "Jones" becomes "Sam Jones"
you can use cell references instead of strings directly in which case the concatenation is performed on the contents of the cells.
so if cell A1 contains "Hi " and the cell A2 contains "There" then A1 & A2 will result in "Hi There"
so you could add the formula
A3=A1 & A2
this is short hand for select cell A3 then type everything including the A3 so that A3 contains "=A1 & A2" (omit the double quote)
OK. So the formula I provided concatenates several items together:
it concatenates A2, then the string " is " then a formula, then the string " years old and likes the color " then a formula
the two formulas (highlighted in blue) perform a lookup of the value in cell A2 in columns A thru D of the table named "Data". If if finds the value in cell A2 in the first column of the lookup range in the table Data (column A) then it returns the value from the same row but in the second or third column.
all that is in a function calld iserror() to trap the condition where the calue you enter in A2 does not exist in the table Data:

URGENT: Can't publish app after November update - Project Siena

Hi,
I have several apps that I want to publish, but am unsuccessful.
After update in November came out my Siena refused to publish so I reinstalled it from the App Store just now. Even though I did this, in the new version, the same message keeps appearing.
Why can't I publish?
This is pretty urgent, as I need to present the apps in 24 hours to our customer. My ass is on the line...

I'm not sure if you're working with a company issued device that may have restrictions which are causing you problems (we've seen this in the forums for previous versions) and considering you have a short turn-around, have you tried installing Project Siena
on another PC?
Another route would be to set up a virtual machine and install Siena. Microsoft offers 90 day virtual machines in various platforms that may help in getting things set up quicker:

Any expenditure item charged to any project could be transfered to another project, assuming the Transaction Source does not restrict the adjustment in PJC.
When you select the expenditure item to transfer, the system creates a negative EI in the original project and another related EI in the target project.
Distributing those transactions will credit the CIP account on the capital project and debit the expense account on the indirect project.

I can't download Project Siena Beta3 from Store

Dear officers,
First of all thank you for developing "Project Siena" I was waiting for Beta3 for a long time. I am a little disappointed when I first saw whats new in the third Beta. I was waiting for Barcode / Text recognition (via camera) implementation. But
I am hopefully waiting to see it in the next versions. My problem is;
- I can not access to Windows Store through my Work-laptop.But I can install appx files by running with Powershell. Is there a place where I can download Beta3 in "*.appx" format?
-Or any other methots without the official Store is welcome.

Hi Yoshihiro,
There are a couple of ways to do this. Add a timer control to your app. Now set the following properties on the timer control:
Data > Repeat: true
Data > AutoStart: true
Behavior > OnTimerEnd: Clear(C); Collect(C, Twitter!Timeline())
Behavior > OnTimerStart: Clear(C); Collect(C, Twitter!Timeline())
Setting Repeat to true causes the timer to keep cycling from 0 to 60 seconds. Setting AutoStart to true causes the timer to kick off when you visit the screen. Both, when the timer starts off (OnTimerStart), and when it hits 60 seconds (OnTimerEnd), you're
clearing the collection C and then collecting the Twitter!Timerline data into it.
Now, bind the Data > Items property of your gallery to C.
Please note that with the above settings, Twitter will soon return a "Rate limit exceeded" error due to the frequency of your calls.

Project Siena can't download?

Hello everyone,
When I try to Publish a simple Project Siena app it comes up with a dialogue saying Publish update required, I click download then it brings up an error message saying Download error, There was a problem updating Project Siena. Please try again.
What should I do? How do I publish my app?
Any help would be appreciated.

I don't understand what you are trying to achieve. You can't reference a report a table. You could embed one report within another as a subreport and pass a variable to the main report. You could create 2 commands within one report that encompass both statements and go from there.

In Oracle, you can use the %TYPE and %ROWTYPE attributes only in PL/SQL code, not in SQL DDL statements.
But you can use them in CREATE TYPE statements.
