Hi:
Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02642701.pdf
Supported wireless cards are listed in chapter 3 starting on page 24.
From the looks of it, you have a choice of the Atheros AR9280 802.11a/b/g/n 2x2 WiFi Adapter, or the
Broadcom 4322 802.11a/b/g/n WLAN adapter.
You must only get one of the cards listed in the service manual and they MUST have the HP part # on them, or they WILL NOT work in your notebook.
Make sure you choose a card with the part # listed for your locale.

I want to be able to replace the internal Broadcomm 43225 WLAN NIC in my dv6-2106ea laptop with an Intel Advanced-N 6230 (to add 5GHz support). Will this work, or will the locked-down InsydeH20 BIOS complain?

    Hi,
I have a laptop from the same series (see the signature) and have modded BIOS on it. That laptop definitely support Intel 5100 wireless chip (the part number is in the maintenance guide and I can provided if needed). I can also send that BIOS so you may flash it and use any wifi you want..

ps i cant do any of take it apart my self and install it i just wan to know how much it will cost going through apple
    thanks

Why do people think they are postiing in a notebook forum when if you look around, this is clearly something else.
If you really want a new Mac you have to buy one. That is part of the fun of owning laptops, they are not upgradeable.

  • Can i replace the WLan card on my Satellite Pro P750

I purchased my P750 to run wirelessly on our 5GHz (802.11a/n) frequency network.
Though I was informed it would work it does not. It appears that my hardware does not work on the "a" band.
My question is can the card be reaplaced or is it built into the board. If it is in built can an extermal wireless card be purchased to do the job?
Just in case you asked I have read the forums updated the drivers and enabled the "n" on the AdHoc advanced profile for my Atheros AR9002WB-1NG

    Hi
The Wlan card is connected to the miniPCI port on the motherboard and its possible to remove/disconnect the card.
But there could be still an compatibility issues between new device (Wlan chip) and the BIOS.
I read here in the forum that someone has replaced the Wlan card and finally the notebook didnt boot up due to the compatibility problems between the Wlan and BIOS.
So in your case I recommend using an external Wlan solution.
The WLan stick is easy in use and should be compatible with most systems.

Can I replace the airport extreme card (Wireless G) to the new N card that come in the new MBP?

Yes. It has been done. I have heard that the wireless n card for the mac pro will fit the macbook pro. I haven't done it yet though...I'm undecided about whether to update my laptop so i'm going to wait a while before i void my warranty.
An apple dealer have offered to perform the installation but can't guarantee it will work, and say it will void my warranty but that's up in a month anyway... I'll let you know if i do it.

  • Can I replace stock wifi card with an Intel 6235 Wifi/Bluetooth PCI-e card in my N580?

I have a PCI-e WiFi/BT combo card that worked in my HP laptop, but when I put it in the N580, It would not boot and said the wifi card was not authorized and I would have to remove it and replace with an authorized card. There are SO many different card available, I just want to find the correct one that will fit in the BIOS Whitelist.
I'm looking for a Dual Band wifi with Bluetooth 4.0 preferred. Something like this. Would this one on eBay work or is there another card I would need.
    Thanks!

    Hello and welcome,
Whatever card you use, it MUST have a Lenovo FRU number.  Cards that will pass the BIOS whitelist have been modified to provide a specific subsystem ID to BIOS.  Reputable sellers will list the Lenovo FRU if their card is compatible.
For example, a generic Intel 6150NX will not pass the whitelist, but a 6150NX with a 20002543 FRU number will pass.

  • Is it possible to upgrade/add a graphics card to a Pavilion dv7-7000 laptop?

I've been doing a lot of research lately, to mostly no avail, about whether or not my HP Pavilion dv7-7025dx laptop can have a dedicated GPU added to it, as currently it only has the integrated Intel HD 4000 Mobile graphics card.
Mostly I've come across the unfortunate agreement that most laptops cannot have their graphics cards upgraded/swapped out, since the graphics card is soldered on to the motherboard. However, after talking to an HP "support representative", they said they believed it was possible to add a graphics card, as long as it is compatible with the HM77 45W UMA Motherboard my computer has.
Furthermore, after finding the maitenence and service manual online for my computer ( http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03221579.pdf ) it says that it could have come with switchable graphics, specifically the Nvidia Geforce 630M or 650M.
So I am wondering, is it really at all possible to add a dedicated graphics card, either by having switchable graphics or something else? Or am I stuck with the integrated Intel HD graphics?
If I can upgrade/add a new card, where would I be able to find/buy a compatible one, and would I be able to install it myself or would I need to go to a local computer repair?
My laptop is the HP Pavilion dv7-7025dx Entertainment Notebook.
It has an Intel Core i7- 3610QM CPU @ 2.30 GHz, 8GB memory, 750GB hard drive (5400 rpm).
I am currently running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (64-bit).

    Hi,
You can't add a dedicated graphics card to the system like this. The vga is soldered to the board so no way you can just plug it in like on a desktop. However, you can buy a new motherboard with the dedicated graphics card on it. It also requires a new heat sink.
    Manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03221579.pdf
You need a 682040-001 board plus 682061-001 heat sink to have a dedicated graphics card on your laptop. Have a look on ebay for the part numbers.

  • Is it possible to replace the wifi card with another one?

    Hi
I have a t400 with intel 5100 wifi card and now I want to install mac os on my laptop.
problem is that mac os does not detect the 5100 series of wifi card and I want to know whether it is possible to replace the current 5100 model with a older series?
Is there any certified service center in Uppsala/ Sweden to do that?
    Thanks,
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Lenovo restricts the wireless cards to Lenovo branded units certified to work with the machine. This is done through a whitelist in the system BIOS. I recently disassembled the latest (version 3.14-1.06) T500/W500 BIOS and found the following whitelist table. This is raw big endian hex appended with what I found by searching the device ID's. Redundant entries are for varying vendor IDs.
86803B428680111000 Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 5350 AGN [Echo Peak] Network Connection
    86803D428680111200 Intel Corporation WiMAX/WiFi Link 5150
868036428680111000 Intel Corporation Ultimate N WiFi Link 5300
868037428680111200 Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 5100 AGN [Shiloh] Network Connection
868037428680161200 Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 5100 AGN [Shiloh] Network Connection
    8C161C008C16350000 Atheros AR5007EG
EC107281EC1020E000 Realtek RTL8191SEvB (Yuck, Realtek! I'd hate to have one of these...)
    86803D428680161200 8086:423D Intel Corporation WiMAX/WiFi Link 5150
    8680840086801513 Intel Corporation Centrino Wireless-N 1000
Your T400 is from the same lineup and probably has the same list. Remember, you'll need to purchase a Lenovo branded unit.

This function working perfectly, all linux platform,Mac,already in android, the old windows XP,windows 2000,
it's a basicthing. This problem affects some reason only are newer Windows platforms and directly the wifi option.

well....it doesn't matter whether the MAC add is 00-14-BF-93-D2-66 or 00:14:BF:932:65 or any other format .. the most important thing is the hex decimal numbers are the same ... so not worry about it...

  • Can I replace the graphics card on Tecra M2?

I have a Tecra M2 and the screen shows verticle lines across the entire screen. These lines also show up when plugged up to a regular screen.
I checked the device manager and it says the nvidia card "cannot start." Troubleshoot had me uninstall and reinstall, no luck.
Next option is to unplug and then plug back in, but is this possible? If it is separate I'd rather just replace the card. Thanks for any help.
    Chase

According to your error description it sounds really like a GPU (graphic processing unit) malfunction.
Unfortunately, this is a serious fault and without a hardware replacement you will be not able to solve this problem :(
This is a worth case because you cannot replace only the graphic card. You have to replace the whole motherboard because the GPU is soldered on the board and cannot be removed easily.
There is nothing to do buddy.
Seems you have to contact a technician for assistance.
    Good luck

  • Can I put the Graphics card from one of my Asus laptops into another?

I have an Asus U56E and I want to put the graphics card from my Asus G51V into it, and I've scoured the internet and even called the geek squad to no avail, no one seems to be able to answer my question. If anyone could help it would be appreciated.

Generally with laptops you cannot remove/replace the graphics chips because they are integrated into the main board and are not a seperate component that can be swapped out. Some of the really high end laptops are starting to use modular cards but I do not believe that will be the case with your laptops. You may want to contact Asus for a more definate answer.

  • Can I replace the ethernet card on my Feb 2005 eMac?

I realize that my Feb 2005 eMac (CRT-17") workhorse drops the internet (cable ethernet) very often- can run fine for 2 hours then drops the connection 3 times in 15 minutes.  IS IT POSSIBLE to repair this or get a new "ethernet" card without spending a small fortune (i.e. for less than $200 and hopefully a lot less…)??
OR:  Add WiFi to this Mac, but that is not my first choice as it is the furthest away from my WiFi points (plus I have ethernet cable running directly to this eMac and it works great for other Macs when tested.  Just this eMac that is dropping the connection).
