Can I Run Logic Express 9?

Hello, I am a up and coming musician playing in a band. LE9 sounds like a great program and I have found the interface i need to record with my band, but will my MacBook (no pro) be able to handle it?

Stroma,
Welcome,
I understand you wanting to make sure, I felt the same before purchasing LE9 a few months ago. I have a MacBook (not pro) that is about two years old. See specs below. I have been running LE9 since Christmas and it is smooth and works very well. I even use it with safari and other programs open. You should be i great shape.
Hope this helps,
Mark

  • Want to Upgrade My G3 B&W to run Logic Express 8 but is it possible?

My system I'm running at the moment is: G3 PowerMac 400Mhz/1MB Cache
    512MB PC100 RAM
    ATI Rage128 16MB Video Card
    MOTU PCI-324 Audio Card/MOTU 2408 MKII
    Adaptec SCSI PCI Card
Western Digital 40GB IDE Hard Drive
    Original Apple 9GB Hard Drive
40GB IBM 10000Rpm SCSI Hard Drive
17GB IBM 10000Rpm SCSI Hard Drive
I am looking at upgrading the Processor to: G4 1GHz Powerlogix ZIF Upgrade
    1GB PC100 RAM
ATI Radeon 9200 Mac Edition 128MB
If I upgrade to this will my machine then run Logic Express 8, or will it do as it does now and just act like it is starting by bouncing the icon in the dock then stopping? At the moment I cannot run Adobe CS3 Design/Web Premium or my Logic Express 8. Please Help!!!

Give up the ghost on that one, there's no way you'll ever get LE 8 running right on that, even with the upgrades.
    fist the specs here:
    http://www.apple.com/logicexpress/specs/
The G4 at 1.25 is the slowest mac that meets that but that has a memory speed of ddr 333.
If you put in the 1 Ghz g4 upgrade it will drop the memory speed to 66 which will kill your latency.
It will probably install and run but you will either have pops and cracks or have to set it to a 1 second buffer.
The video card is overkill as well. You wont see that much a difference unless you try to play 3D games on it, but in that case the fact that it is on the PCI bus will be the bottleneck.
If anything get one of those hacked nVidia 5200 cards so you can at least get core graphics going and take a few of cycles off the CPU.
Usually when an app. bounces in the dock and doesn't start its because there is not enough memory. If the app sees that parts of itself are getting loaded into virtual memory it will stop.

  • Can you install logic express on more than one computer

can you install logic express on more than one computer ?

Be sure to read the End User Licensing Agreement for questions of this nature. You are allowed to install Logic on two computers that you own, for example an iMac and a MacBook Pro. You cannot, however, use the two computers at the same time if they are on the same network. You can use one computer as a Logic Node to shift some of the processing load (which you would likely do with an ethernet cable) but you don't need to have a full installation of Logic on the Node  machine, just the Logic Node installation. The idea of allowing two installations is so that you might take advantage of a portable  computer in the field for on-site recording then later transfer those files to a desktop studio set up for further editing.

  • Serial number where is it so i can use my logic express

serial number where is it so i can use my logic express

It's on a sticky decal with the documentation. It's been awhile since I used mine, as I moved to LP pretty quickly after I got Express, but, yeah, I believe it's attached to a bit of the documentation.

  • Can u run Airport Express and a wireless modem together?

Can u run Airport Express and a wireless modem together at the same time?
I'm using AE purely for music distribution and have just bought a wireless modem for the internet (not a AE). However I can now only select either the AE network, OR the wireless internet network (it's BT HomeHub). Hence I can either play music or use the internet, but not together!
    Any ideas anyone..??
    Thanx
    David

You should configure your AirPort Express (AX) to join the wireless network provided by the modem. The instructions are in KB 302153, AirPort Express: How to join an existing wireless network in client mode.

Can I run Logic in Snow Leopard?

    LP9 runs fine under 10.6.8....
In fact using Logic Pro 9.1.5 and OS X 10.6.8 turned out for me and many others it seems.. to be one of the most stable combinations of Logic and OS X of all time

  • Mac book running logic express

I have been using logic express on my imac for some time and i love it. I am now thinking of getting a macbook and also running logic express on this. It will be for laying down ideas (softsynths and audio) more than anything when I am out and about or away on holiday. Will the macbook be ok running logic for this purpose? I don't want to invest and then it cant cope. I'm on a limited budget so a macbook pro is probably a bit pricey for the small amount of use it will get.
Any comments or recommendations would be appreciated.. Thanks

Might want to search Discussions for Logic Express and occurances of MacBook:

See what setup people are using and find one that is most similar to you.

  • Can I use logic express with my Macbook

I just got a macbook and i was wondering if I can use Logic express or pro on it??

    yes!
it of coourse depends what you want to do with it - but yes!
by all acounts logic express and pro will run very well on the new macbooks.
I'm using pro on my old powerbook - just about manage to use it live and it's slow but useable to get ideas down onto and am using an intel imac as my main studio computer with logic pro 7.2.3 - it's essentially the same as a macbook except it doesn't have integrated graphics and it has a faster hard disk which does make a difference. Apart from that i'm sure your new macbook would toast my powerbook in terms of performance.
Be sure to get the intel version of logic (7.2 and above) as an older "ppc" version may run but is not supported and would probably run very slowly.
    Enjoy!

  • How many computers can I install Logic Express on?

Simple question...can I buy one copy of Logic Express and install it on both my Macbook Pro and my new iMac when I get it? I can't see anywhere on Apple's site any info on the software product licences. I also need to know the same information for Final Cut express.

    Christian,
Thanks for that, I was beginning to think I wouldn't get an answer to this question. I will be using only one of these computers for music production at a time so that will be fine. I will probably use the iMac at home and the Macbook Pro when away and I didn't want to have to buy two copies.

  • Can you use logic express on a mac mini for recording

Can i use logic exprees on a mac mini for recording? Ive seen alot of 8,12, and 16 track recorders with a cd burner and it seems like a logical and more productive gues for me to buy a macmini for the same thing of recording and then I can uses logic express, a far better program for recording. can the mac mini handle the load of processing tracks and how much ram should I uses? thanks tim

sorry, I'd like to butt in here:
I would like to do the same thing, so I am curious about this forum and rather than starting a new one, can I get some advice on this possibility:
    Mac Mini
    1.83GHz Intel Core Duo
    2GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM - 2x1GB
    80GB Serial ATA drive
    Glyph External HD 250 Gig
    Mackie Onyx 1620 w/Firewire
    Logic Pro 7.2
    thoughts?
The most number of tracks I could see at once would be 16.
Here is something I am most curious about...
    Firewire Hard drive
    Firewire Interface/mixer
    Firewire camera for FCP
    to much firewire?
Please let me know if you have other thoughts aswell...

thanks guys, this forum is fantastic!

  • Downloaded Mountain Lion and can't open Logic Express,How do you fix?

Wouldn't let me open 9.1.7 upgrade before because I didn't have Mountain Lion, and now I can't open Logic 9.0.0 to put the upgrade on.

    Check this site:
    http://roaringapps.com/apps:table/tags/_l/index_tags/_l
Shows some problems with Logic Pro 9 in ML (Logic express appears fine).
Just a wild guess: Is the installer of your version a PowerPC App? I have Final Cut Express - it is universal, but the installer is PPC and I can't use it to install. As a workaround, I have a working Snow Leopard partition and copied every file from there onto the same location on ML - it works fine. That assumes you know where all the files are located.

  • Can you run Logic Pro 8 and Logic Pro X on the same machine?

    Hello all!
Congratulations to us on the release of the new Logic Pro!
I am still running Logic Pro 8 (and was waiting for X to come out since I knew it wasn't too far off) but am concerned over the loss of 32-bit plug-ins with Logic Pro X (the wrapping of my old VST plug-ins alone hurts!).  I've heard that installing Logic Pro X doesn't in any way gimp Logic Pro 9's usage, but can someone confirm whether or not Logic Pro X and Logic Pro 8 can operate in harmony on the same Mac?
As a bonus, is there any reason to believe that Apple would disable earlier versions of Logic Pro (such as version 8) from running on Mavericks?
I am planning my Logic Pro and Mac OS migrations!  Thanks!!
