  • If I currently share an iTunes account with my family, is there a way I can have my own iCloud account that they can't access as well as keep all the music previously purchased?

I am going off to college soon and I need to create a separate iTunes and iCloud and the whole nine yards if possible. I currently share icloud and everything with my mom and my brothers phones. Is it possible to move over all of the music the I have previously purchased as well? Also the computer that has our iTunes account on it recently crashed. Is there a way to move the account to another computer?

    Hi Rileycarline,
You can easily have an iCloud account that is separate from the Apple ID that is used for iTunes purchases. Take a look at the article below to walk you through that specific setup process of have an account for iCloud and one for Store purchases.

  • Can I share one itunes account with two computers?

I have an itunes account set up with one email address. It was originally set up on a PC and my two daughters have Ipods that are synched to this computer. I finally got my own ipod (yea!) and want to use it with my macbook. I tried to download songs using the same email and my purchased songs were not able to be played on the macbook. Can I share this account or do I need to set up a separate Itunes account for the macbook?

    eyeinit,
You can authorize your iTunes account on up to 5 computers at a time.
However, purchased music is downloaded to the first machine to download it, but these articles have more information on moving your music between authorized computers:

This one is for moving all your music using an iPod as a storage drive

  • Can I share an iTunes account with multiple devices?

I had an iPhone 3GS. Just upgraded to an iPhone 5C. I'd like to save the 3GS for our daughter to use as an iPad Touch. I realize that I'll need to wipe the 3GS clean and start over with new apps for her. I have a few questions:
Can I use my same iTunes account for both devices, or must I create a new iTunes account for my daughter's app and music purchases?
How do I change the device name in iTunes, so that her iPhone no longer bears my name?
Also, can I sync both devices on the same computer, or is it better to use different computers for the two devices?
    Thank you!

    Agile,
Any of the above will work, depending how you would like to set it up.
Given that kids tend to eventually grow up and be independent, the best long term answer for most people is to let her have her own account and her own library as soon as she can handle it.  Keep in mind that content purchased from the iTunes Store is permanently tied to the account from which it was originally purchased, so separating later is a challenge.
If you want to sync multiple devices to the same library, that will work.  Or if you want separate libraries (as I would recommend), they can be either on separate computers or on separate Windows user accounts on the same PC.
For the name change:  Connect the device.  When the name appears in the left sidebar of iTunes, highlight it and change it.

  • Can I share my iTunes account with my wife,

even if she has her own account.  We want to share music but have a mac each and our own iTunes account and we want to not buy songs and albums twice, but want to share songs on our iPhones, iPods etc.
So I guess the question is, can we merge iTunes accounts?
    Any help appreciated

You can share the same Apple ID in
Settings > iTunes & App Store > Apple ID: here
But for all other Apple services like:
FaceTime, iMessage, iCloud, etc, one of you should use a different Apple ID.

  • How to share an Itunes account with another family member

How do 2 people share the same music library and Itunes account.

Most of the 24 inch LCD have multiple video inputs, which means you can get connect two different video source (i.e. desktop, laptop) to the same display, and then switch between with only a few button presses.

  • I share my itunes account with my kid but he is growing up and leaving for college soon.  How do we breakup but not loose his music?

How does one break up with your kid on itunes and not loose all their music?  My teen says if he sets up his own account or a new account with apple he will loose his music.  Im sure lots of parents have this issue with kids as they grow into teenagers.  Any advice much appreciated.

No. It will be in the same library.
You can have content from more than one iTunes account in the same library.
I did suggest saving the whole music folder to an external drive and then saving to new computer and deleting what he didn't want,he was less than impressed !
As opposed to sitting down now and going through everything before it gets copied over?
    Kids...
It'll work but why not do it when you have the time and you are on your own computer rather than having to do it all at once?
Or you can quit iTunes, copy the entire iTunes folder to the external, open it (hold Option, launch iTunes, select Choose library... and select the iTunes folder on the extrenal) then go through and delete what he doesn't want.
Then copy the folder on the external to his computer.

  • I share an itunes account with another person and have synced my iphone up until a few months ago due to there already being 5 computers authorized. How do I go about sync issues from here forward?

How to sync my iphone without having any more of the 5 computer allowance?

Would you mean walking me thru the basics on actually how to go about syncing?
    PLEASE?
Im sorry. Its incredibly frustrating b/c I havent had an "authirized" computer to sync with my iphone for months. My confusion is what happened that is different seeing I no alonger can sync?
Is it b/c Ive since set up my own (seperate) apple id? That being the case, must I use the apple id associated with the itunes account ?

  • Can I share an icloud account with my wife but not share contacts?

My wife and I want to share the same icloud account. We both have iphones, and our contacts are getting messed up. Is there a way of storing our contacts separately? Or do I need to create a new icloud account for my wife? If so, how do I do that, as both our e-mail addresses are already linked to the existing appleID.

I personally would recommend to use two different Apple IDs/iCloud accounts for iCloud. And of course, you would still be able to share calendars, reminders and you could still set up "your" account as a secondary account on her device, so that she could also still access your email address.
To set up a new primary account, please go to Settings > iCloud > Delete Account (This would only delete the account from the device). Then create a new account here. After you set up her new account, you could add your account as a secondary iCloud account in "Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar > iCloud" and then activate just only Mail (and of course keep contacts turned off).

Make groups of contacts in your Address Book and select the option to sync only selected groups to each phone.
