Can i trade in my old imac air when i am buying new iMac air???

can i trade in my old imac air when i am buying new iMac air??? cause the one that i got is 11inch, but it kinds of too small..so i thinking to buy the new one..

Apple does not accept trade ins.  But you could certainly sell your old machine.  You say "iMac Air", and there is actually no machine with that name.  So get the name right and you can hunt around for what your old machine might be worth.

  • How can I trade-in my old MacBook for the gift card but transfer my files to the new one?

I currently have the late-2008 unibody Aluminum 13.3" Macbook with 2.4Ghz processor. I love this computer it still works great over five years after buying it. However, I feel like now is a good time to upgrade to the new MacBook Pro with Retina display as my battery is reaching the end of its life and I am slowly running out of storage on my machine. I was considering upgrading the parts to keep the machine alive and save me some money, but I saw that you can trade in the old computer and I can get around $200 which is great. My question is how can I trade in my old notebook while transferring all of my files, applications, etc. to the new machine? If I did the trade in after moving all of my data I would just have a gift card that can no longer be used towards the purchase of the new machine, so I would like to find a way to figure this out.

    Hi r,
Transfer the data to an external HD, either with Time Machine or a cloning app such as Super Duper! or Carbon Copy Cloner.

  • Can you still access Adobe PDF SAVED FILES WHEN YOU GET A NEW COMPUTER

Can you still access Adobe PDF SAVED FILES WHEN YOU GET A NEW COMPUTER ? Do you loose the files you have saved on you old computer when you get another computer?

I may not be clear on what you are asking here but I'll try an answer anyway since that's the type of guy I am.
If you have PDF files on your old computer, you will need to transfer them to your new computer. You can use a flash drive or CD if needed.
But again, I think I'm not getting what you are really wanting to know. If I'm not, can you give us some more details?

How can I set the page that will open, when I open a new tab, to be the same as the homepage?
An app changed it to some other search engine, before installing the app, I the tab that would open was the homepage I set.
In my case it is Google, and I want my new tabs to open on Google like they did before the installation.
    thank you,

You can middle-click or Ctrl left-click the Home button on the Navigation toolbar to open the Home page in a new tab.
You can look at one of these extensions:

Yes, you have to update the iPod in order to retore from backup. The iOS on the "new" has to be aequal to r greater than on the iPod from which the backup was made.  The iOS downloads are unique to an iDevice and model (the one for a 3G iPod will not work for a 4G iPod).

    Hi,
Try placing your iPod in Recovery Mode and restoring it via iTunes:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808.

  • Brand new MacBook -- how can it communicate with my old iMac

I just got a new 2.2 GHz MacBook (black) with the current version of Leopard installed (10.5 I guess, I'm posting this from my PC at work, so I can't check). No real problems so far. I've been able to access the Internet through my cable modem at home (had to unplug my desktop, more on that below) and through Wi-Fi.
I still have and plan to keep my G3 iMac desktop machine, running OS 10.2.8, and my basic question is how I can get my two Macs to talk with each other. I don't currently have any sort of network at home -- I'm the only computer user. Setting up an AirPort station would make sense, since it would allow me to use the MacBook anywhere in the house. I'd need to install an AirPort card in the iMac, and the card that's currently available in the online Mac store is AirPort Extreme, which I don't think would work with the old iMac. (The specs say "AirPort Extreme Cards cannot be used in AirPort-ready computers with an AirPort Card slot.") Does any one know if there's a way to use the same AirPort station with both computers.
Since the primary reason for the computers to communication with each other would be to share files, connecting them with some sort of cable would be another option. When I asked the Apple store salesman what I would need, he sold me an Ethernet cable, but that doesn't seem to do the job. If I connect it to the Ethernet ports on both machines, they don't seem to see each other. Do I need some kind of router to connect both machines? Actually if there was a router that connected both computers to the cable modem, one cable could go to the iMac and the other to an AirPort station that would communicate with the MacBook, solving my issue above. Can I do anything via USB ports?
If all else fails, I could e-mail files to myself, but seems a rather roundabout way of doing things.

Usually you use a router as the hub for the computers to talk to each other over Ethernet wires or WiFi. When you hook the two computers up directly, you need a cross-over Ethernet cable, which is different from a standard Ethernet cable. (Although some of the newer computers can sense and use either, but I'm not sure about the older G3.)
A wired/wireless router would definitely be the way to go, why not take advantage of your MacBook wireless capability? This will let you share the internet connection, share files, and a printer between the two computers. Just about any router would work from Netgear, Linksys, Newer Technology, or the Apple Airport. Using an Airport Extreme Base Station would allow you to use an Ethernet cable for the G3 iMac and the WiFi for the Macbook. I currently use one this way with my older G3 Desktop and a MacBook. (I think the first time you start up the Airport you configure it over the Ethernet cable, I don't remember if you can do it wirelessly or not the first time.) You plug the cable modem into the router, then each computer into the router, (or connect over WiFi).
Once you have the Airport set up you can turn on file sharing and access each other's hard drive and printer over the network. Should you ever get a PC or have a visitor with one, they can connect also. Set up the password protected encryption and don't broadcast the network name so passersby can't see and connect to your network.

  • Can't use Firefox on old iMac anymore

I have an old iMac. It's got OS 10.1.5 on it (most recent update I could find, not having discs for higher OSs. It also only has 96 MB RAM. I'm kinda broke and can't afford to upgrade). It used to have Firefox on it and it worked fine. Then I tried updating it, not thinking about the most recent version not being compatible with the OS. I basically put the new version into the Applications folder and had the new version replace the old one.
Obviously, it didn't work. I tried finding older version of Firefox and through much digging, found version 1.4 and installed it, replacing the newer version with that one. I thought that would work, too.
    It doesn't.
It installed OK, but when I try to open it, it says "The application Firefox has unexpectedly quit" every time. I've restarted the computer, tried it on different user screens, but nothing works.
I've got Mozilla installed on it for now, but it's nothing like Firefox. I miss my old Firefox.
Is there any way to make it work? I also tried installing Safari on it, but couldn't find an old enough version that would be compatible with the OS

You probably have a preference file that didn't overwrite and is causing the problem . Do this do a search for "firefox " on your computer and then delete them all , preference file and everything ( back up your bookmarks to a separate folder do as not to loose it ) . Next empty the trash , reboot and then re-download the 1.4 version of Firefox . it should work then .

  • I plan of buying a new wireless mouse. Can I trade-in my old wireless mouse?

I have a wireless mouse with serial number 8B9412FU6485A purchased several years ago. I may have damaged and dropped it on the floor. It does'nt respond anymore when prompted. I intend to purchase another mouse. Can I possibly trade-in my old mouse? I can go to the store if that would be the case. Thank you.

Would I be right to assume you have tested the batteries and checked out the cleanliness of the contact points.

  • Anyone know if I can install Leopard on my old iMac?

Am I right that DIMM1 is the accessible slot and DIMM0 the non-user-accessible slot? How much RAM is it worth installing in a 1.25GHz machine?
No, I think it's the other way around.
I'm checking the service manual on the G4 iMac and it seems straightforward EXCEPT you will need to reapply the Thermal Paste :-/ I hate thermal paste!
You easy option would be to just put a 512 stick in your user accesable and run with a 768MB configuration.
Also, there may be some graphic features of 10.5 that are unusable due to the older graphics card.

and no i do not feel apple screwed me over by making improvements on their product...EVERYONE knew this was coming and made the decision because they needed it the way it worked as a 2g phone...and for all we know the 3g may have a flaw and the old phones will be hot commodities...

Ummm--you're taking the new phone (from what I can gather from your post) and giving your wife the old phone. HOW IS SHE GETTING A PHONE THAT COSTS "a couple hundred less"?????
YOU ARE GETTING A CHEAPER PHONE...she's just getting your "cast-off".
It's nice that you're giving your wife your "old" phone...but it's not special and you shouldn't feel especially proud. If you didn't have a wife...what would you do with this phone when you get the new one?
