I can't save a file to the desktop nor create a new folder

I extracted 2 pages from a PDF file. They are there according to the "open" dialogue but the second one is not there as an icon. I can attach it to an email but the email won't send - it says the attachments are still downloading. I can't create a new folder on the desktop to save the second PDF into. ***????

You can write a file with the same extension as long as you lock your file while writing it. As long as your file is locked, your BizTalk receive location will not pick it up.
So the question here really is, how is your application generating the CSV file?
Check the FileShare enumeration: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.io.fileshare.aspx
In your case it will be something like this:
FileStream someFileStream= new FileStream(path, FileMode.Create,
FileAccess.Write, FileShare.None);

  • Infopath submit - how to hide - Save as dialog box - You can only save this file to the current site

    HI,
    I have a infopath form. In the submit options, i have used the below:
    submit options -
    sharepoint document library
    Data connection - Sharepoint Library Submit
    Doc library - lib location
    File name: concat("User Info - ", ResourceName, "-", PersonalID)
    Allow overwrite if file exists is checked.
    When I try to save a record, I am getting a popup:
    Save As:
    You can only save this file to the current site
    File Name: textbox
    save location: doc lib.
    save, cancel buttons.
    How to override this save as option(save as option should not be shown to user), and save the file using the file name mentioned?
    Thanks

    Are you clicking "Save" when you're using the form or "Submit"??
    You should be using "Submit" and it will ... submit your form to the document library with the file name you specified.
    To disable the "Save" button, click on "File" then "Form Options". Under the "Filler Features" area you can uncheck the box beside "Save and Save As". Click OK then re-publish your form.

  • Can I save a file to the Mac HD and, automatically, also save it to Dropbox?, Can I save a file to the Mac HD and, automatically, also save it to Dropbox?

    Hi everyone,
    Can I save a file to the Mac HD and, automatically, also save it to Dropbox (or another cloud-based storage)?
    What I would like to do is to have my Mac HD duplicated in the Cloud?
    Is this possible?
    Many thanks!
    Bryan

    Dear dwb
    Many thanks for responding!
    I am not that technical and I would be grateful if you could continue to help, please.
    On the first bit - the Dropbox folder - this I understand - I have been using Dropbox for a number of months and it is fine.
    The linking folders outside Dropbox does sound like it is what I would like to do but I don't know how to do it!
    May I give an example?
    If I have a folder on my Mac HD in Documents entitled "Tax" (nightmare!!) and in the folder I have some subfolders (e.g. 2011, 2012 and 2013) and in the subfolders I have files such as "Propeties", "Travel Days", "Interest", etc.
    I would like to duplicate this folder (Tax) and all of its subfolders and files in Dropbox and AUTOMATICALLY update the Dropbox files everytime I update the file on the HD.
    Is this possible with Symlink?  And if so, how do I do it?
    I really appreciate your help!!
    Many thanks,
    Bryan

    I upgraded to 10.6.6 and now I can no longer "see" any of my files that are located on the desktop. However, I can see the files in Finder. Anyone else experience this?

    Also, I can no longer drag files to the desktop and the right-click contextual menu no longer appears when I right-click in the desktop.

  • How can I save a file in the server?

    Hello,
    I am writing a Java Web Start program that it will generate a html file, how can I save the generated file in the server, fro example, the directory where I stored my JAR files. Because right now, it will create the html file in the local client mahcine instead of the server. Can anyone tell me how can I do this? Thanks you.

    Yeah, thanks but that's not what I was trying to ask.
    I know that you can save and open a document by performing these three steps:
    1. Confirming to save a file to the Downloads folder
    2. Open the download manager by clicking the temporarily green arrow
    3. Clicking on the downloaded file
    What I would like to know is whether or not it is possible to have Firefox open a saved file ''automatically''. At the moment, if I choose to open it automatically, it is only saved to my temp folder.
    It would be great though if it was saved to my Downloads folder ''and'' opened with the respective program on my pc. Is there a way to do this?

  • How can I save a file in the Downloads folder and automatically have it opened?

    Often, I'd like to download a file, save it to my Downlaods folder and have it opened right away.
    Currently, you can only decide between the two options "open" or "save to...". There's seemlingly no way Firefox can do both at once.
    I know I can download it, open the downloads manager and open it manually. But when working with over a dozen documents a day, that doesn't quite do the trick.
    In Chrome, you only have to click twice: Once for downloading and once for opening it from the download bar on the bottom of the screen. You do not have to open a download manager.

  • File Sharing: Can't save altered file to the original Mac

    I've enabled file sharing on my iMac and MBAir, identified shared foler and given myself read and write privileges, and can open a file from the original iMac on my MBA--but if I edit the file on my MBA I can't save it back to my iMac or export it there. What am I doing wrong?

    Putting the hard drive to sleep is an additional option in the energy saver system preference. Unlike display or system sleep, there is no time-to-sleep slider for this; it is an on or off checkbox at the bottom of the pane. When checked, the hard drive will spin down if it hasn't been accessed for a while, even if the system is awake. When the system next needs to access the drive, there is a delay while the drive spins up, but it does not otherwise have any effect on the system's sleep or wake state.
    If your software claims it can wake the Mac, it is referring to waking the system. If it doesn't do that, you should contact its maker for assistance with the appropriate settings, for upgrades that might be needed for Tiger, etc.

  • Can't Export Video Files to the Desktop

    Since upgrading to Leopard, I am not able to open .mov and .mp4 files exported out of iMovie 06 and MPEG StreamClip to the desktop. The error message complains about a lack of disk space or improper permissions.
    An export to an external drive worked, and files will burn to a DVD.
    Any ideas?

    HI jboppre,
    Welcome to the Sony Community!
    The lock symbol on the videos could mean that the videos themselves are protected or the memory card you're using is on locked position, thus preventing you to export/transfer your files to a computer,
    To unprotect the files, please click on this link. And to unlock the Memory card, slide the lock lever up or unlock position.

  • How do i delete Older files from the directory before create a new file?

    Hi,
    How do i delete older files in a particular directory,
    the senorio is count the number of .txt files in a directory and delete the older files if file count is more than 10. (if i add 11th file the very first file has to be deleted)
    i have written the code to count the files and delete , but it is deleting all the files instead of older file
    public class ExtensionFilter implements FilenameFilter {
      private String extension;
      public ExtensionFilter( String extension ) {
        this.extension = extension;
      public boolean accept(File dir, String name) {
        return (name.endsWith(extension));
    public class FileUtils{
      public static void main(String args[]) throws Exception {
        FileUtils.deleteFiles("c:/countfile/", ".txt");
      public static void deleteFiles( String directory, String extension ) {
        ExtensionFilter filter = new ExtensionFilter(extension);
        File dir = new File(directory);
        String[] list = dir.list(filter);
        File file;
        if (list.length == 0) return;
        for (int i = 0; i < list.length; i++) {
          //file = new File(directory + list);
    file = new File(directory, list[i]);
    if ((list[i]).length()>=10)
         System.out.print(file + " deleted : " + file.delete());
    Thanks,

    What your code is doing now, is deleting all filenames that are longer than 10 characters.
    Your problem lies in the line:
    if ((list).length()>=10)

  • New Firefox seems to be missing the ability to create a new bookmark folder--any help is appreciated.

    I just updated to the new Firefox, and now, when I try to create a new bookmark folder, the option is no longer there (I can see all my old folders, but the option "New folder," which used to be on the bottom of the drop-down menu, is gone. Nor do I see it anywhere else.

    Hi, Matt,
    I really appreciate the speedy response. I did go into the Bookmarks Folder of the Knowledge Base, but actually don't see any article (I skimmed each of them) that deals with folders. The frustrating thing is that I've been able to create bookmark folders with no problem up until I updated Firefox to the latest version yesterday. Now the option to create a new folder does not appear.
    I'm enclosing a screen shot of the dialog box; previously, when adding a bookmark, an option to "create folder" would appear at the lower left of this box.
    I'm sorry if I'm missing something obvious. I really appreciate your time.
    Best,
    Kathy
