Can i transfer purchased music from one computer to another without paying for them again?

Do i have to pay for music previously purchased on a different computer? my old computer crashed and i want the music on my new computer.

You can transfer iTunes purchases from the iPod to a computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
If you are in th USA and have the latest iTunes you can redownload music and some other things at no additioal cost:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

    Lisa,
Just get copies of the song files and add them to your iTunes library.  With the exception of any DRM-protected files (purchased before mid-2009 and never upgraded) they will play fine, even though they are technically associated with the original account.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Homesharing gives you the option of seeing only the content in the shared library, that is not already in your own library.

how do you transfer music from one iphone to another without paying?

It depends on who owns the phones.  If you are just upgrading from one iPhone to another, you can use iTunes.
If you're talking about "giving" the music to someone else with a different Apple ID, that's a whole different question.

  • Won't let me transfer purchased songs from one computer to another

The itunes wont let me transfer purchased songs from one computer to the other via home sharing even though both are authorised?

Burn that songs to a *DATA DVD/CD* using iTunes - then take the resulting disk to your desktop computer; that disk will show up in iTunes' left column; drag the songs into your library.

  • Can I transfer rented movies from one computer to another?

I am posting this message as every time I try to transfer rented movies from my PowerBook to my iPod get the following message.
Attempting to copy to the disk "Michael Graham's iPod" failed. The disk could not be read from or written to.
I have gotten this message with an iPod Classic, as well as an iPod Touch, so don't think it is the iPod, but can not be sure of that. Also have posted a message about this in past, but none of the suggestions seemed to help. In addition Apple seems to be no help. In any event if I use my dad's Mac Mini to transfer the rented movie I do not get this message. In any event I just wonder if their is any way to transfer rented movies from one my laptop to his desktop, so I then came transfer to my iPod Touch.
    Thanks in advance
    Michael

  • How can I transfer an iPhone from one computer to another?

    Hi all!
So, I got my boyfriend an iPhone 4 last year and his computer was so outdated that he could not sync it with his computer.  We recently upgraded to Snow Leopard (no Lion for us yet) for both his and my computer and now he can sync his phone with his own computer.  Before, he could not back up his contacts in his address book, or his calendar, etc.  So anyway, when I plug in his phone to the computer, it recognizes it, but will not allow me to create a backup in his iTunes.  It will also not let me "assign" the phone to the computer.  Any suggestions?  Also, even if I do a complete restore, how can I add the stuff backed up to his iCloud once it's restored?  Any help would be great.  Thanks!

Unless you moved the Domain file, that's its default location. Make sure you're looking in the Library folder in your Home folder rather than Macintosh HD. See also THIS recent post.

  • How do I transfer my music from one computer to another?

I just bought a new Mac. My iTunes library was on an external hard drive associated with my old Mac. When I import the music, it creates a large "unknown album" with music that was previously identified -- mostly WAV and AIFF files. How do I get iTunes to recognize the structure of my old library?

Note that WAV files are special in that the track information is not embedded in them as tags.  When you move an individual WAV file the track data does not travel with it.  Anyway, what you really want to do in your situation is:
iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Start iTunes with the option (shift on Windows) key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.
With the above method your library will appear exactly as it was on your old computer.

  • How can I transfer purchased apps from one iPad to another?

    Hi all,
We just got a second iPad.  Previously our single iPad was registered under my Apple ID.  My wife downloaded lots of apps for the kids on our old iPad.  Now I want to associate the old iPad with my wife's Apple ID, but be able to keep all the kids apps on it that were previously purchased under my apple ID.  I don't really want any of the kids apps on the new iPad - especially since I will usually have it with me at work.  Is there any way to do this?
    Thanks.
    NM

You can't associate purchased apps with another Apple ID. The apps are tied to the ID that was used to purchase them.
If you sign in on the iPad with the ID that purchased the apps - then you can download them again using the ID that is associated with those purchases.

  • Transfer purchased songs from one computer to another

I bought 6 songs on my laptop due to a better internet connection. I want to transfer them to my desktop computer. When I log in, it has all my old songs listed, not the one's that I bought from my laptop and my old songs together. How can I merge these songs? This has been so frustrating!!
If I go into my account information, it has a record of the songs purchased, but it's not listed in my library.
    Help!!!

Burn that songs to a *DATA DVD/CD* using iTunes - then take the resulting disk to your desktop computer; that disk will show up in iTunes' left column; drag the songs into your library.

  • Can i transfer my library from one computer to another

Have two different computers with two different accounts how do I make them one?

    Hello Suzy,
It sounds like you have different iTunes Libraries on two computers and you would like to merge them.  I recommend using the Home Sharing option in the article below to have both computers import each other's music.
You will have to perform step 11 on both computers.  You can find the steps in the section titled "Home Sharing" in the following article:
iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
I also recommend reviewing this article for additional information about Home Sharing:

  • Can I transfer an application from one computer to another?

My school uses InDesign CS4 to do newspaper layout in journalism class, and my teacher (an old ****) just upgraded his home desktop from Mac 9 to Snow Leopard. Before this year's much-needed upgrade, all of the computers in the class were running Mac 9, and layout was done on some archaic version of PageMaker. Any work on the layout that wasn't finished in class was finished by my teacher on his home computer.
Anyway, now that we've upgraded the layout process, he also needs to catch up at home, so is there a way I can simply copy (or drag and drop) the InDesign application from the school computer to an external and then reinstall it on his new home computer? Can that be done with any application?
    Thanks for any/all input!

That is an issue that you should take up with Adobe. Aside from the piracy issues involved with copying a legal installation to a possible illegal installation, I believe that Adobe uses serial codes unique to each of their apps that you need in order to activate a legal installation of their software. Their apps are very complicated as well and usually need to be installed by their proprietary installer app from their installation DVD to make sure that you have all of the pieces in their correct location.
Welcome to the 21st Century by the way with Snow Leopard.
