Can I use 32GB of 800MHz internal memory in my MacPro1,1?

Can I install 32GB of DDR2 800MHz memory [ or said differently ... can I install more then 16 GB's of internal 800MHz memory-sticks in my MacPro1,1, built 12-2008 ], where it now runs on 9GB's of 667 MHz memory-sticks?
I'm confused, because I hear store-people saying that Apple only supports 16GB's of internal 667MHz memory in case of my machine (a MacPro1,1 from 12-2008), but at the same time inside several Apple-forums I read that most certainly 32GB's of 800MHz sticks would be supported, in other words ... the machine would be able to work with that kind and amount of memory.
I'd like to hear from some people who KNOW about these things.
Thanks beforehand people !
Kind regards, Arthur Flederus from Holland

has always supported 32GB
It uses 667MHz DDR2. As long as 800MHz is backward you are fine
4GB DIMMs cost a lot more - Amazon has 2x2GB FBDIMM 667 $54 the set, or $220 for 16GB - may not be on UK store but is on USA site.
2008 = MacPro3,1 that used 800MHz FBDIMMs, has 1600MHz bus.
You are mixing things around here. No 1,1 was built past Jan 2008.
www.macsales.com/memory/macpro or check Crucial or Kingston UK just use their guided memory recommendation
If it was me, given the price and support, I'd try to get US$600 for what you have and buy a 2010 model - again Apple Store ref'd "specials" are hard or non-existant outside USA but $1869. Then 32GB is only $300. Not $1200.

I have two iphones, different telcos, i am using the same apple id for both - how can i use the 10GB icloud free memory of my new iphone 5?

    Thank you KiltedTim!
YES, that is the free 5GB icloud memory for each apple ID. Can I not add the free 5Gb of my second Iphone to my original apple ID (5GB also) as I want to use one Apple ID name on both 2 Iphones? Is it necessary to have a different apple ID for the second Iphone to avail the free 5GB it carries with it?

  • Can i use 32Gb RAM on my macbook pro 2012

    Can i use 32Gb (2 x 16Gb) RAM on my 2012 Macbook Pro????

No, the maximum RAM your MBP will recognize is 16 GB.
I suspect that chips with 16GB on each chip are probably of a different configuration than the 204 pin chips that the MBP accepts therefore could not be installed anyway.
The best sources for Mac compatible RAM are OWC and Crucial.
    Ciao.

How can I use class XSQLRequest for processing in-memory XSQL?
What should i pass in URL parameter value for constructor XSQLRequest(XMLDocument p0, URL p1)?

  • Can I use the time capsule internal hard drive for file storage?

Can I configure the Time Capsule internal HD to function as a network file server as well as handling time machine backups?
Can the internal HD be partitioned?

This is asked several times a day.. obviously people are struggling with their latest SSD being too small.
The TC is not suitable for network file server.. but many people having no choice press it into service as such.
It cannot be partitioned. It was and is and ever shall be a backup device for Time Machine.
    Major issues.
    1. No backup.. no way Time Machine can backup a network drive. No place to backup to.. So all your files will be at risk. And you will need to buy a third party like CCC to do backup.
    2. The TC cannot be partitioned and mixing TM backups and data is not great.
    3. The drive is slow to spin up and quick to spin down.. there is no controls.
    4. iPhoto in particular can easily corrupt its entire library with wireless networking causing a disconnection to one photo. Even if you do this;;; do not move your photo library... you have been warned!!
    5. iTunes will constantly lose connection to the library. The disk is too slow to respond.. itunes on the computer will constantly spit out errors. Even in the midst of streaming the TC can spin down the disk due to caching.
    6. Do not use any live files on the TC no matter what else you do.. if you edit files in whatever program the file must be on the local hard disk.
    7. The only suitable location for most libraries is a computer. You can plug in an external hard disk.
Read pondini for some work arounds.

  • Can I use Airport TimeCapsule's internal hard drive as a network-based backup solution for both windows and mac?

Does the following scenario work??? :-
A Windows PC is connected to Airport TimeCapsule (ATC) wifi.
A Mac is connected to the ATC wifi.
The Mac's Time Machine software is set up and automatically backs up to the internal HDD.
The Mac can browse files on the internal HDD, and drag and drop files to and from.
The PC can easily see the internal HDD as a device on the network. The PC can drag and drop files to the internal HDD. The PC can read and write to the files that the MAC has placed on it. The PC has some automated backup software installed, which recognises the ATC internal HDD as a backup storage device.

You are right.. you cannot partition a TC.
    Nor can you use NTFS..
And you can corrupt the TM backup but you can do that from Mac just as well.. the TC is better with one disk used for data or TM and another disk.. a USB plugged in for the other.
Windows compatible means.. all names are short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.
You used to be able to set workgroup but Apple haven't bothered with that of late.. there is no upgrade to the airport utility for windows.. although one should be coming. Windows can have issues.. it was no problem on the older 5.6 utility and that still partly works but I have no idea if it will work on the AC model.

  • I need to replace my Apple HDD Toshiba MK5065GSXF Media, can I use any 2,5" internal SATA HDD for this?

    Hi guys,
I'm in a situation where my Apple HDD Toshiba MK5065GSXF Media has completely given up on me. I cannot understand why Toshiba is being used anyhow, together with SeaGate these were assured failures back when I did IT. My question however is: can I simply replace it with any 2,5" internal SATA HDD that I'd wish to use? I tend to favour any WD HDD. I'm running my MacBook Pro off an external HDD nowadays, but it's not a useful option as I'd like to use it at school and all that.
I'd really appreciate your answers and/or recommendations
    GJ

I really like the HGST Travelstar 7K1000 and it would be a good fit for a 2012 model: 7200rpm, 1TB capacity and SATA III speeds. I have a number of them that I use to clone my internal SSD and have put one inside my MacBook Pro just to see how it performs - top notch!
That's my recommendation - HGST is made by Hitachi and I've always had good luck with Hitachi drives.

  • Can i use the 2 x 1gig memory stix  from quad in the mb and mbp ?

is it the same memory or do i have to buy specially for these machines ?
    thanks in advance
    uk

They’re not “special” in the sense of being a custom part, but they are distinct from a specfications perspective. If by “quad” you mean a quad-processor desktop, then they will not even be mechanically compatible with the SO-DIMMs (the SO is “small outline”) used in laptop computers.
Apple’s hardware design for the Intel Core Duo Macs seems to be very demanding when it comes to the hardware tolerances. There has been repeated experience reported here, including by me, that the cheaper RAM, though ostensibly of the correct type, does not work at all well in the MacBook Pro. One should expect the same for the MacBook and iMac Core Duo.

  • WP8 Accessing internal memory for some use cases

    Hi,
I am thinking that allowing App to access (read-only) internal memory would be a very nice and competive feature. A use case like this would be a good example. My app allows users playing media files stored in music+video hub. My app has the capability
to show lyrics/captions with popular formats like lrc and sub. User can go some website and download those files to can copy to SD card or internal memory for our App to pick up. It isn't easy to ask end users to download isolatedstorage
browser and do all the complicated steps to make it working. It would be greatly convenient if users can just drag and drop files over internal memory through USB or simply put in SD card. Not all WP8 has SD card like lumia 920. If Microsoft ask all phone
manufactories to have SD card, then that would work too. However, without supporting "share" storage, some App would be limited what they can do.
    Thanks.

I trying to access my internal memory through usb, and guess what I CANT DO IT !!!! So i bought 600$ phone with 26 GB of internal memory which i cant manage for safety reason its like you buy a car and they wont give you the key . Leave the choice to the
customer . How you can compete with Android and Apple when you dont get the basics from them

  • Can I use Restore From Memory Card to clone E72

    Hi
I have two E72s, both have the exact same firmware 091.004. Can I use the "Back Up phone Memory" feature to transfer everything (apps + settings + data) from one E72 to another? I just want to switch to another E72 this way:
    1. On the 1st E72, back up phone memory using File Manager.
    2. Move the SIM card and memory card from the 1st E72 to the 2nd one.
    3. On the 2nd E72, restore phone memory from the backup on the memory card using File Manager.
Will it allow me to clone everything (like an image) to another E72? Is it officially supported?
I tried once, some things were missing such as Opera Mini not found, Nokia Evolve theme not enabled, profile settings not applied etc.
Is there a way to clone everything to another E72?
    Thanks heaps.

  • Internal memory s6000

I am new to the tablets and just wondering why my tablet seems to be using up so much internal memory, I will check it before I shut it down and when I restart it the next day there is 10 to 20 mbs of internal memory used than the night before, is this normal or can this be adjusted in some way?

Are you talking about storage (Flash) or memory (RAM)?
If you're referring to RAM, Android pre-loads apps in the background... don't worry about it.
If you're referring to storage, 10-20MB isn't much, probably just apps or the system caching stuff.

  • Media Sync cannot access photos in internal memory of Pearl 8110

    Hey,
I was wondering if anyone else ran into this difficulty ... I just updated the Blackberry Desktop Software, and thank goodness it's stopped using Roxio bloatware to transfer my photos off of my phone (Pearl 8110). Unfortunately, the new MediaSync doesn't sync with the internal memory of my phone, so it appears that my photos are stranded for the moment. I was wondering if anyone else had run into this problem, and what solution you would recommend. I looked through the technical support docs, and I don't think I found anything that fits this.
    1) Do I have to find an older version of the Blackberry Desktop software, transfer the photos, then upgrade again to the newest version with Media Sync and purchase a microSD card?
    2) If I purchased a microSD card and installed it, would directing the camera to store on the microSD card automatically move over the photos I've already taken?
    Thanks a bunch,
    Carmine

    Hi carmine_dichiara:
We currently can’t pull pictures from the internal memory of a 8110.
If you get a microSD card and save the pictures to that location, it will work properly.
(It won’t automatically move already taken pictures to the microSD card)

  • 8530 Media Sync Internal Memory

    Hello,
I am trying to remove photos stored on the internal memory for a Curve 8530. When I click on Pictures on Media Sync it says "Media Services Are Not Available".  Please make sure you have a media card and mass storage is turned on.  I'm using internal memory, is there a way to remove the photos besides, one by one transfer to a media card, emailing them one by one, or using blue tooth?
