Can I use my iPod Mini on my mac and my pc?

I have a mac and a pc laptop from work. I installed iTunes and iPod software on the pc but am afraid to connect my iPod to the laptop for fear I will do something wrong. Any suggestions?

Probably the easiest way to use an iPod on both Mac and Windows computers is to format the iPod (using iPod Updater) using the PC. This will force your iPod to use the Windows file system (FAT32) which both the Mac and PC can read from and write to without the help of additional software. Of course then all your software updates for the iPod will have to be done on Windows.  If you need to use a Mac (HFS+) formatted iPod on a Windows PC, you'll need to install some 3rd party software such as XPlay 2.0 (which you can get from MediaFour Software). This will enable your Windows PC to read a Mac-formatted iPod.

First, please understand that an iPod formatted on a PC (FAT32), will be able to be read by a PC and Mac. But not the other way round. You have 2 options to do it:-
1. Do a Restore of your iPod on your PC (you need to install the iTunes and iPod updates on your PC), (it will erase all data on your iPod). Once it has been completed, connect it with your Mac and do an update between the iTunes on your Mac with the iPod. After that please install the 3rd party software e.g. YamiPod on you PC, and use this software

Yes, you should still be able to use your iPod Mini on your new Windows 7 PC. Simply download iTunes from Apple's website and you should be good to go. You don't need the original software that came with it anymore as it's now bundled with the iTunes application.

How come i can't use my ipod mini as a hard drive

I learnt how to use my ipod mini as a hard drive by watching the video on this web site. But after I check "enable disc use" and then exit out of itunes, nothing happens. it says in the video that after you exit out of itunes a box will appear showing your ipod and then you can begin adding files to your ipod, but this doesn't happen for me. can you tell me why?

I havent seen anything confirming this but I suspect not. that would require you keep logging in and out of the two accounts since you can only sign in to one at once. In iTunes on your computer if you log into another iTunes account you can't log into another one for 90 days. As I say I've seen nothing confirming this on a mobile device, but I suspect it will be the same.

Yes you can. You will have to authorize both machines for your iTunes account, and you will only be able to sync what is on the individual computers to your iPod, but switching between Mac and PC isn't an issue.

The CD contains iTunes and the iPod software. You need to install iTunes on both computers (from the CD or off the net - it's free). Don't worry about the iPod software this is OK only on your home computer.

I would think you could...
Enable Disk Use on the iPod, then find the video file on the hard drive (right click the song and click Get Info, at the bottom of that screen). Drag it (not from iTunes, from its place on the Hard Drive) to the iPod, then plug it in the other computer. Drag it onto the other computer, then add it to iTunes through File>Add to Library.

Can I use my Ipod Mini A1070 charger with the 4th gen Shuffle?

I have the old Ipod Mini which came with the A1070 charger. Would this charger be OK with the 4th generation (current) Shuffle?

Thanks for the response. Just got the Shuffle home and the Ipod Mini charger is not compatible. The connections don't fit. The connections do fit on my I-Pad charger and I've heard stories going both ways that it will work and it won't work.

been using windows (sorry) for long time and just bought imac recently. But having trouble getting the ipod classic to update the itunes library even though it looks like it is sync-ing on the computer screen. then when I look at the ipod it is empty. Hey there,
If you want to use your iPod with a Mac, you can just Restore it to factory settings again on your Mac to make it a mac formatted iPod. Just keep in mind that if anything is on the iPod it will be erased so make sure you have it backed up somewhere.
Another option is to use your iPod on your mac, but keep it in its Windows format if you wanted. However, the only way you can update the software and firmware is through your windows machine. Hope this helps.

Can I use the same serial number for mac and pc?

My problem is that my mac is falling apart and I don't know how long it's still working - can be hours or can be months. I'm not sure if my next computer is mac or PC, so I'd like to know if the same serial number can be used with both mac and PC? I have understod that I can delete the program from my old computer and then use the same serial number in my next computer (Is it working that way?). So if I now buy a lisence for mac, can I use the same lisence later with PC?
