Can i use Web Start for applet servlet architecture

Hello ,
I am currently working on conversion of swings GUI to applet based so that it can be accessed any where from the network.
Presently its a standalone application, requiring installation of the work station component on user's machine .This would access the database on other server using the JDBC ODBC drivers.The GUI would display the information from the database.
The task is to make it accesible remotely using a webbrowser.I have thought of the following.
1.
Applet-->Servlet--->Database architecture
I was wondering if i can do the same functionality with Webstart. I mean will i be able to deploy the present application and make connections to the host server.
Please compare the options .

actually it does... there is option you may give in the jnlp that it's not application rather it's an applet. Though it's not highly recommended.
BTW. i am having another problem .. if anyone know about it...
In NetBeans IDE 5.5, i have enabled "java Web Start"
but when ever i tried to run via web start it asks me "please select a main Class" alert.

Hi,
Yes, you can user net start in Windows NT/2000 followed by the
service name. The service name can be found by checking the properties
of the service entry in the settings->control panel->Administrative
Tools ->Services. Hope this helps.
eg C:\>net start https-admin-serv

Using web start to deploy a web-application WAR

I am planning to develope a web-application, that will run in my clients as localhost. My client will have a Tomcat server, and he can run that application in his own computer without Internet.
By times, and when he have access to Internet, i would like that he check the new version of that application(WAR file) in my Server, and if there is new version, then he will update the application (WAR file).
Is there any possibilite that I can use Web Start to deploy WARs directly tomcat/webapps/ ??
In all documentation of web start, they use for *.JAR. but there is no place where say that I can't use web start for WebApplication.

Not that I'm aware of.
You can upload your new WAR to his Tomcat server if you have access to /manager/html on his Tomcat.

Create Transparent Container....
Add Childs to the Container...
Decide your layout....

Then I received an email from Telus saying I had used my 3G instead of Wi-Fi using 75% of my data. How can this happen when I'm on Wi-Fi at home? If it switched to 3G for some reason I should have been disconnected and not just transferred to 3G network using up my data. What is the fix for this??

It doesn't have to be that complicated, Verizon iPhones come unlocked, just tell VZ you're going on Holiday/Traveling and suspend the service, no need to pay for service if you're not going to be using it. Pick up local SIM cards in the countries of your choosing, pop them in, re-activate iMessage and you're set!
I recommend getting a SIM card from the Three network in England, they have great EU roaming rates and free like-home roaming in Italy.
Set your phone's region to match the country you're in, it'll save from some headaches when calling local/international numbers.
To answer your questions,
1. If you choose not to have a local SIM card, it is good to keep your phone in Airplane mode to save battery.
2. Make sure the two iPhones have different names to reduce sync/restore issues.
3. If husband has an iPhone also, you can chat with iMessage/Facetime, just give him heads up about the new number you'll have. Otherwise, use Whatsapp if he's got an Android. You can activate Whatsapp with your American number or the international number if you choose to get a SIM in Europe.
Also, Get the MagicJack app and/or Google Hangouts, both of those apps provide you with free calling to the USA and Canada using any internet connection. Google Voice is another good way to SMS across the seas.

Yes you can. You can use the CNAME method of forwarding for the first site (the top site in iWeb) and use the MMe URL for your account for the other site: http://web.me.com/YourAccount_Name/SiteName/

I have a MySQL database for my ordering system. In this database there is a user table and there are some other tables. These tables use foreign keys of user.id. People can register on my sytem (+1 row in a user table). I communicate throught web services in my mobile application. People can see only their own rows (own orders) (it is defined by the user.id).
I would like to improve my mob.app. with offline, sync, and real time changings features.
Can I use the LCDS for my system?

Web Services: Java WS, and it is protected with Custom Basic Authentication. The session contains user.id after the successful authentication.

Scenario:- PDFs will be the report output format for webI, Crystal etc. I will query the repository and get the PDF instances from various BO Reports. Can i use this PDFs as input for Publications SDK? Is there any known limitations?

I'm already using Itext. but it is a costly affair as PDF file size is an issue (200 single page PDF results in 8 MB). And seems like there is no otherway around in Itext to compress PDF.
About using WebI and Crystal together, I will export PDF from these and give those PDF as input for Publications.Then it should work. Right?

Each time when you start your computer, you need to restart Oracle as well, its only with Windows XP. The process you have to follow each time is:
Start -->Run and then type CMD to open command prompt.
In command prompt type
svrmgrl and then press
connect internal/oracle and then press
startup force and then press

Can't use a starter template

I'm on a Mac - Mavericks. I have uninstalled and re-installed Dreamweaver 2014, most current.
I tried the starter templates a few weeks ago, hit cancel when asked to save the CSS and didn't think much about it. I assume it was actually working just fine that first time.
Now I can't use a starter template at all. When I try, I click create and get an error message:
You must specify the external style sheet that contains the CSS for this layer.
OK... but it won't let me!
I figured I messed something up with my first cancel so I uninstalled, made sure to uninstall preferences, re-installed and did not sync from the cloud to get a nice new clean install. Still won't work.

I went to Starter Templates - Responsive Starters - About Page, clicked create, then I clicked cancel instead of saving a css file. It canceled the whole thing, but was all working fine.
I came back later and none of the responsive templates will work for me now. I can choose any of them and I get the error message with no option to create or point to any css, it just errors out.
As I mentioned before, I uninstalled everything, including preferences and re-installed, not syncing with my CC to get a clean install but I still get the error.

PeopleSoft calls Java component which schedules the BO Reports by calling BO program Objects. I was using BOE SDK before. But SAP advised to move to Webservices SDK as to remove CORBA connection issues.
Can I use Webservices SDK for scheduling Reports?
