Can itunes play podcasts at 2x

I love the feature of my ipod touch playing back pocasts at double speed. Anyway to do this when I listen to them thru itunes on my imac?

Actually, I have the same problem...only moreso.
When I'm streaming from another computer, my songs frequently start double-playing without my doing ANYTHING at all. Right now, The Skeleton Killers' "Despair" is doubling up--that's twice the dirge--and I wasn't even touching the computer when it started.
Oh, goodie! One of the streams has finished and the next song, George Michael's "Outside", has begun, now running concurrently with the last minute of "Despair". I can't tell you how poorly these songs go together.
The problem started with 7.0 and continues with 7.0.1

Suddenly I can't play podcasts and the podcast logos & album covers of my playlist have disappeared on my iPhone. The music on my playlist plays & iTunes U is OK.

I used to sync my podcasts to my phone individually, but found out that the Podcast app works better for me. It continously downloads the podcasts (not really sure when, that's the only thing, when its downloading it may use data depending on where you are) and also deletes the ones i have listened to. Hopefully that will help you out!

Help: Playlist can't play Podcast

I just realize that after i Updated and using Nike+ my Nano playlist (both On-the-go and manual playlist) can't play podcasts automatically.
It appears in the list, but it won't be chosen automatically.
i.e. if there are 10 songs and 3 podcasts, and I choose play from the playlist title it will show only 10 tracks.
if I forcely chose one of the podcast, the tracks will become 11, teh 2 other podcasts will not be chosen automatically.
My ipod setting is always Shuffle Songs

Agreed, I do roughly the same thing, and this is incredibly annoying. I was considering the Nike gear, so I updated mine... but I usually play some of my podcasts by scrolling through the album list and then just hitting play to shuffle them. Whether or not to include podcasts in shuffle should be a global setting, or at least set per podcast, rather than per episode.
Frustrating. I think I'll roll back, and forego the Nike gear for now.

Can iTunes play 5.1 audio on a Mac (not AppleTV)?

My Macbook, like many other Macs, has a digital audio port that doubles as a stereo mini-jack for headphones. I'm interested in importing videos into iTunes with 5.1 sound and playing them with iTunes, with the audio going out the mini-jack to a toslink adapter to my surround-decoding receiver. Can iTunes on a Macbook import and playback 5.1 surround content or will it get converted to stereo in the import?

That may work for the dual disc formats. Although I question the point of a video iPod that won't import video. A CD is copywritten material and it will import.
So, for an album that is only in the DVD format like BNL "Are Me Deluxe Edition" there is no way to get it into iTunes and eventually my iPod. iTunes even sells the album in a standard format. Are you saying that I need to buy it a second time for the iPod/iTunes?

Can iTunes play a stereo song that consists of two files (Left & Right)?

I generate stereo mixes in Pro Tools that are saved as two wav files, left and right channels, not as an interleaved stereo file. For example: StereoMix.L.wav and StereoMix.R.wav. This is normal for wav files.
I have converted these files to three different formats in Music Man Converter: AAC, MA4, and MP3.
The resulting stereo files also consist of two files each: Left & Right.
I want to add these to the iTunes Library and then compare audio quality. However, I can't get any of them to play. They appear in the Library as two separate files.
Can iTunes deal with a stereo mix consisting of two files, rather than a single stereo file?
How do you select both files to play simultaneously as a single stereo song?
Do I need to combine them somehow before iTunes can play them?

Most mixing engineers I know use Pro Tools HD to mix music, and the resulting mix is always two files, L & R. I am wondering how iTunes handles normal wav files?
Anyway, I just need help on a workaround.......how do i combine wav, AAC, M4A, MP3 files that consist of two files?
The only file format that I have generated as an interleaved stereo file is MP3, which Pro Tools normally converts to one file when you generate an MP3.

Can not play podcast with voice control command

Is there any way to play a podcast with voice commands? I've been trying everything, "Play podcast Science Friday", "Play NPR Science Friday", "Play This American Life". I'm pretty sure Apple left this feature out. I thought they would have fixed it by iOS4. It's nice they added, "What time is it?" but I think this would be more useful. While I'm driving, sometimes I like to listen to music, sometimes I like to listen to podcasts.
I'm surprised more people haven't complained about this. Can we please elevate this to a bug/feature request?

I've always had this problem, where "play" and "pause" does not work with podcasts through voice commands, which is rather dangerous when I'm driving and have to fumble with the touchscreen while using an A2DP headset. I don't usually have any music loaded, since I prefer listening to podcasts, Pandora or FM radio. Yesterday, I synced ONE song onto my iPhone, and suddenly it works with podcasts. I then removed it and it stopped working again. Apparently, if there is no music iPhone thinks that there is nothing to play, even if there are podcasts, which is a pretty stupid BUG. I still have not been able to play artists or titles, but now I can say "play playlist <list-name>" or "play" to resume a podcast that is paused.
Of course, no matter what I say, half the time it dials a random number from my contacts!

What file formats can itunes play?

After looking at hundreds of posts, I got fed up and decided to ask these questions. What file formats does itunes play and how can you change/adjust them? I thought there was a place to do this when I installed itunes, but I haven't been able to find it so far.

Thanks for the help, but my question is still unanswered, I want to know how to associate different file types with iTunes, maybe I am not asking the question correctly, or don't know the terminology. I know that my real player can be made to associate different file types from the tools menu, I check off the boxes with the different extensions, like, .mp3, wav, midi, .ogg, etc... I thought there was a feature like this on iTunes, but I can't find it, is it only available when I install it?

How can I connect a PC with iTunes to an ipod and make iTunes play podcasts directly from the ipod without synching with iTunes on the PC ?

I predominently use my ipod to listen to my favourite podcasts. I download podcasts onto my Home PC using iTunes and then synch the podcasts onto my ipod again using iTunes. This all works fine.
Occassionally I want to connect my ipod to my Work PC via iTunes and listen to the podcasts by playing them through my Work PC external speakers. I DO NOT want iTunes to synch with my ipod, I just want to access the podcasts on the ipod and play them directly using the iTunes on my Work PC. I used to be able to do this, but have recently had a new replacement PC provided and now when I attach my ipod to the new PC iTunes wants to synchronize, and I can't see the podcasts which I know are on the ipod.

Just to be clear - I have a new Work PC. My Home PC and ipod synching is all still working fine - it's just connecting the ipod to my new Work PC - and not being able to see and play the podcasts from the ipod - which is the problem that I am trying to overcome. Thx.

Can't play podcast in iTunes

I click on different podcast (RSS) feeds on several websites, and it shows them listed in iTunes, but won't update or download podcast, and the left column where you usually see blue dot or exclmation mark is blank, and when click on it they always show error: "The URL might point to text-only episodes, or contain file types that iTunes cannot play"
I tried changing settings in iTunes (Preferences/Advanced/Importing)to different settings like "import using..MP3, or AAC Encoder,etc" but nothing works.
Why does this happen and does anyone know what else I can do to make podcasts play in iTunes?

Yes, my 3rd gen nano has stopped playing videos podcasts or otherwise for some reason. Soft reset and restore didn't help.

so my podcast madness radio streams and downloads fine from a desktop computer.
but on the iphone 3gs 3.0.1 i get the "server is not correctly configured" error when i try to play the same podcast in the iTunes iPhone app.
any idea the reason for this?

Hello Carpathianna,
No judgment here on the music you listen to, I have that song too in my library. If iTunes is telling you that the song is missing and you purchased it from the iTunes Store, then just delete it from your iTunes library and then download your song again. Can't play podcast while on other apps...iphone 6 plus

Why can't I play downloaded podcasts while using other apps like facebook on my Iphone 6 Plus?

Since New Years Eve, I have spent nearly 15 hours with senior support advisors on this issue. Trust me, I've tried everything. Once it downloads on Apple TV all I get is AUDIO. The trailer will play fine, all the other apps on Apple TV play fine. The only thing I'm having trouble with is movies RENTED FROM ITUNES ON APPLE TV and MOVIES RENTED ON ANY IOS device. Not just mine, I've tried using my Apple ID on other people IOS devices but the movies download but won't start. I have one purchased movie that will play fine on any platform, but not rented movies.
There are no error messages, all setting have need restored, reset, and reset again by THREE senior advosors. I don't know how to explain it any cleatee than
this.. sorry to be short, but I don't see any Apple tech people making any type of effort to remedy the problem.

Setting up new macbook pro ,want to transfer music on existing Apple id and then set him up with a new one for future purchases ,can itunes play music from both accounts on one user account?

Title says it all really,son has until now used our itunes account,in future will want to build up own but wants obviously to have access to past musuc/books etc.I was thinking authorise new macbook with existing apple id ,transfer music ,then set up new id for future,if he wants to play old music he will have to log in under old account.
Also want to link to icloud but this will need to be the new id presumeably because you are not allowed to change the computer,does this mean it will only back up the stuff from new account?

I have tried the method of authorizing my computer and then initiating transfer purchases method yet my purchases were not transfered. I was told Apple can put your purchases in a certain place for you to retrieve them in your I-tunes account.
Is there any way you can help me with this problem?

Suddenly can't play podcast

I created "Car Playlist" in iTunes on my iMac and downloaded all episodes to the playlist
chose "include episodes from the playlists" and checked Car Playlist
synced my iPhone 5s
opened Podcasts and selected iTunes Playlists
chose Car Playlist
played Car Playlist in the car yesterday for 1 hour
stopped for several hours
tried to continue where I left off
pushed the play button, nothing happens
When I open Podcasts it shows Now Playing what I was listening to, but pushing the play button does nothing. I have tried skipping ahead to the next episode to play that but the same thing happens. I have tried playing one podcast that I played a portion of, then skipped forward to the next podcast. When I try to play the first podcast, it shows where I was when last played - 7:32 into the episode, but I cannot play it. Does anyone know why I am having this problem? And why could I play the playlist when I first got in the car, but not when I drove home? It's the same playlist after all.

This problem continued until I re-selected the iTunes playlist > Car Playlist, then I was again able to play the podcast episodes.

Can iTunes play with lid closed?

I am a newbie, so please excuse me if this sounds like a dumb question. I just moved from Windows world (after using it for 25 years) to MacBook Pro about 4 months ago.
I am using AiportExpress to stream music from iTunes to 3 different audio system throught my home. I would like play iTunes to play the music even when my MacBook lid is closed. I can't seem to get this work. Seems like such a basic function. Is it possible to play iTunes with lid closed? What am I missing?

Another question is if the iTunes is running on one of my Windows-based laptops, and I close the lid on that, iTunes (on PC) should continue to run. Right?
