Can Java be used to communicate with hardware?
I work with electronics as a hobby, but wish to interface with my electronics so I'm trying to find a programming language that has good API's for hardware communication(most likely through a serial or parallel port).
Can this be done with Java? I really like java and the fact that it's platform independant.

I have HP-UX server that has both C and Java compilers (Java 1.5).The JMS C client is a pre-compiled library - we don't supply the source - so C applications link to it. If I recall correctly, there is an HP version. The C client library is actually thin layer that uses JNI to directly invoke a Java JMS client running in an embedded JVM.
The library might work with other vendor's Java JMS clients, but BEA does not officially support this usage.

I have a carillon 25 keyboard (bad choice, I know) and I can't get it to communicate with my mac at all! I'm running logic pro 9 and reason 5. I get signal in from my M Audio trigger finger so I know it isnt an entirely mac based problem. Thanks!!!
Well, how have to determined no signal is being recieved to your mac?
Have you got something that shows the actual signal? Or have you just been trying to control a VST? What software are you using by the way?
I personnally went with a AKAI MPK25, because it's made already mapped for logic & ableton etc, so it just makes things incredibly easy.
I would suggest you return it if you can as a dead unit & perhaps look at something else a bit easier?
Otherwise, if you just want to get this working we can have a look a bit deeper.

I have an old IPID touch and just bought a anew Nano. If I downoload the latest version of Itunes for my Nano, will I lose all of my osns stored in my old version of Itunes and can I still use my Touch (with my current songs on it) with the new version of Itunes? In the past when I downloaded a new version, I lost my songs on my Touch. Thank you for any help any one might offer.

Can't I use my Scanner with the Elements 10 editor without the organizer??
I have been using Photoshop Elements for a looong time to help me create the product images I need for my online business. It's been a love-love relationship... until I took advantage of a special offer and bought Elements 10. Now it seems the only way I can scan images is thru the Organizer.... and the organizer is something I don't need.
Is there a way to scan my images thru the Editor only... and completely bypass the organizer (as I'm able to do with my older version of Elements)? Like a twain plugin I can install or something?
I may scan 10 images and decide to use only 3 of them... and those are the only ones I save.
With the way PSE10 is set up using the Organizer to scan, it's saving all 10 of them. Not to mention the extra steps of scanning thru the Organizer... (which means that pop-up window for my scanner every time), back over to the editor to pull the images in for editing, back to my files to delete the ones the organizer saved that I don't want... etc etc etc.
It's like 5-6 extra steps altogether and a huge time-sink for me (you know the old saying... time is money).
If there's no way to bypass the Organizer for scanning.... can I get a refund on my purchase? My older version of Elements works beautifully for me... I was just hoping for more sophisticated image editing capabilities.

Since a "fix", as you say, is not a solution might it not be a good idea to alert purchasers of the latest editions of Elements that they have an option to try this alteration to the installation in order to be able to import images from a scanner? (My own experience with versions prior to 9 always worked perfectly!) I do not know but does Photoshop CS5 allow the user to import images from a scanner or does the user have to use a similar solution to what applies to Photoshop Elements? I find Elements to be a very good app and am sure it is a good selling product for Adobe for amateur/semi-pro users that the alternative that I suggest may be a useful tool for existing or new users who want or need the capability to import from a scanner rather than having to go through other more difficulty and time consuming ways of doing the same task. It's not a "fix", exactly. The TWAIN plug-in causes a lot of crashing in PSE so in the past couple of versions adobe makes you install it if you want it.

No. Return it and get your money back if still within the 30 day return window. All US iPhones are carrier locked and cannot be officially unlocked.

Hello, I want to download a new version of Itunes on my windows-7-PC to to communicate with my Ipad, but the program says: I must terminate this download. Since I have also removed the old version of Itunes, now I can't do nothing to communicate with my Ipad

iCloud is not supported on Snow Leopard or lower, why bother to mention it?
The OP has an iCloud account, and that can not be opened without Lion or Mountain Lion (on a Mac), IOS5 or 6 (on an iPhone/iPad)

We have a Forms application developed in Forms 10.1.2.0.2. One of our forms gives a unusual error. This error comes from any client machine we run the application.
Our menu form (menu.fmb), in it's ON-LOGON trirgger, calls a form called login.fmb. Login has a canvas where username, pwd and db is specified with Login an Cancel buttons.
Problem is with the EXIT_FORM build it. When the form tries to execute this built in we get the Dr. Watson type screen with 2 buttons (Details... and OK). The alert says
FRM-92101: There was a failure in the Forms Server during startup. This could happen
due to invalid configuration. Please look into the web-server log file for details.When we press the Details... button we get

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.FRM-92101 means that the Forms runtime (frmweb.exe) crashed or could not be started. This has nothing to do with a network connection, unless your environment is configured with load balancing and session binding has not been enabled.
Given that you are using 10.1.2.0, this could be a bug which likely was corrected in a newer version. If you have a MyOracleSupport account, I recommend you patch to 10.1.2.3 (Patch ID 5983622). After doing so, I would further recommend that you install the latest Forms Bundle patch on top of that, as it includes a few fixes which may be related to your problem. See patch ID 9593176 and Note 1188127.1 -
What kind of visa session should i use to communicate with a serial instrument?
I´m trying to communicate with a serial board, i don´t want to use the Measurement and automation explorer, so the resource name should be COM1 instead of ASRL1::INSTR, how can i do this?. What king of session should i use? Waht visa VI should i use to open, close read and write from the srial port?. I want this to work with out MAX. Thanks in advance

Firefox is not diplaying correctly, none of the buttons or menu items have any labels
