Can BEA JMS C APIs be used to communicate with other JMS servers?
Hello,
Can BEA JMS C APIs be used to communicate with other JMS servers?
If yes, is it enough to download, compile the JMS C APIs, and link the C applications to the libraries (shared or static) produced?
If not, can you point me to an open source framework that can be used to enable C applications to communicate with JMS servers?
I have HP-UX server that has both C and Java compilers (Java 1.5).
The JMS C client is a pre-compiled library - we don't supply the source - so C applications link to it. If I recall correctly, there is an HP version. The C client library is actually thin layer that uses JNI to directly invoke a Java JMS client running in an embedded JVM.
The library might work with other vendor's Java JMS clients, but BEA does not officially support this usage.

Can I use J2EE deploytool with other vendors
This might be a stupid question for J2EE veterans but I was wandering whether I can use Suns J2EE deploytool with other J2EE servers like WebLogic for example.
Concretely I would like to set in deploytool different then default classes for topic connection factory and topic is it possible?
Januszdeploying an EJB means generating code, where the AppServer steps into when the Bean is created, for example to do security checks,pooling, resource management, ...
This is always AppServer specific.

Can I use vitrual bench to measure I2C/SPI/CAN by digital I/O or logic analyzer?
And is it possible using digital I/O to communicate with other device by I2C etc?
Thanks,
JimmyYou might be able to get it to work (not sure how fast the DIO on the Virtual Bench can go), but for I2C, I would recommend using something that is actually meant for it, like the USB-8451 or USB-8452.

How can I communicate with other applications from my Java application?
Hello,
I need help about how can i communicate with other application(say textpad.exe/wordpad.exe/MS word.exe) from my Java program.
More precisely, I need to know how i can get the current position of the cursor whether it is in any .txt/.doc files, then I may write some text in my java application and click a button and then my program will append the line(string) in that position of the file which is running under another appliction(Notepade.exe/MSword.exe).
Please provide me some help.I may be wrong (and anyone, please correct me if so), but Java may not be the best tool for something such as this. I envision that you'd have to make some OS calls such as calls to the user32.dll, and while this can be done through the JNI, you'd still have to have a C or C++ program doing the dirty work.

Hi all, I add vsw0 as below:

ifconfig vsw0 (ipaddressofserver) netmask 255.255.224.0 broadcast + up
mv /etc/hostname.e1000g0 /etc/hostname.vsw0

but now I can't communicate with other hosts from primary domain,if I plumb and up e1000g0 and down vsw0 ,everything is OK,what's wrong with it?Thanks.This is greate!I replaced e1000g0 with vsw0 now.
Could ldm automatic update the ldm configuration parameters?I created a file for the virtual disk,the output of ldm list-bindings as below:

Vdisk: disk0 vol0@primary-vds0

but when I updated some other parameters such as vsw,vnet,the vol0 became:
.................ignore.........................
Vdisk: disk0 primary-vds0-vol0@primary-vds0
service: primary-vds0
.......................ignore........................................
and the same time the primary-vds0-vol0 link with /dev/zvol/rdsk/domdisk/dom1,so the guest domain couldn't get the boot disk,I had to update it manunally.

Can we use our ipods with other music services?
I have not been able to get into the music store for close to 3 weeks now, I have been round and round with these discussion boards and articles and unanswered emails to Apple... I want to leave and go with rhapsody or someone else, BUT can I use my ipod with these sites or does it HAVE to be Itunes??
a service like itunes is subscripiton based is it not?
No, the iTunes Music Store is not a subscription. It's a single-time pay; once you buy a track, you own it forever. Subscription sites are ones where you pay every month (or whatever) to listen to the tracks they make available. If you stop paying, you lose access to all the tracks.
And if you pay for a song, why wouldnt you be able to burn it onto a cd, or do they just let you put it on your pc?
It depends on the site. Not all allow you to burn audio CDs, even if you pay outright for the track. None of the subscription services allow burning to audio CD.
And do you mean napster or bearshare sites?
Napster yes. Bearshare is a Gnutella client which is just another P2P network like Limewire, and similarly consists mostly of pirated tracks, viruses, worms and trojans.
helful as eveyone has been, none of these solutions has fixed the problem!
Again, sorry, but as I said, you didn't answer the most important questions. For instance, you said you were using a corporate network, but you never said whether or not you'd addressed the issue with your network administrators, something that Toonz asked you two or three times. If your company's firewall is blocking the addresses and ports needed to connect to the iTMS, there's nothing you nor Apple can do to fix the problem. -
How can I create a Online Store using Muse? (with not Business Catalyst)
How can I create a Online Store using Muse with not Business Catalyst for example three services
_ttps://orders.self-pub.net/checkout.php?m=fastcheckout
_ww.self-pub.net/services/covers.htmlHi,
Unfortunately there is no option stand alone in Muse to create an online store. However if any hosting plan uses CMS feature like Business Catalyst and ecommerce using modules and tags, you can use the same proceedure as for Business Catalyst and integrate that system and host the Muse site on their platform and that would work.
There is other thing that you can try is, Insert HTML codes to link the pages and some contents in Muse to your desired CMS. What you can also do is after you create the site in Muse, you can export the Muse site and get the layout and design of your site and copy paste the codes for pages with some HTML and coding skills to integrate with your desired hosting.
Hope this helps.

How can I share an ibook that is 250 megs with others without using the ibook store
Hello
I'm using ibook author and the book I have created is 250 megs. I'm having trouble sharing it and getting on my new ibook air. Does anyone know if there is a good way to share the file with others without publishing it or using iTunes?
I'd ideally like to use something like Dropbox or my website but every time I try to download the file using one of these sites safari/apple says file not readable.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you!Thank you both for the help and sorry about not replying earlier. I've tried both drop box as well making the ibook downloadable from a website. I've triend to create a step by step list below that better illustrates what is happening.
1) export ibook author file as an xxxxxx.ibooks
2) upload xxxxx.ibooks to dropbox and then send my self a test link
3) using safari i download the xxxxx.ibooks file
4) while still in safari a page opens up with an icon for the xxxx.ibooks file and it has two buttons underneath it- one that says "open with..." and another that says "open in ibooks"
THIS IS WHERE THE IBOOK PROBLEM STARTS
5) I tap on the "open in ibooks" button - nothing happens
6) I tap on the "open with..." button and an icon for the ibook app pops up
7) I tap on the ibook app icon and nothing happens
8) I tap and hold the "open in ibooks" button for 2 plus minutes (the time for holding the button down fluctuates from 45 seconds to 5 minutes)
9) the xxxxxx.Ibooks file opens in the ibook app.
I am very happy that I was able to get the xxxxx.ibooks file to open on my ipad. However, this is not a smooth or intuitive process. I need to share the xxxxxx.ibooks file with many people and I want to find a process for getting them the book that is very easy.
any advice is appreciated
Do you think the problem could be the size of the file?
Thank you -
Satellite A210 - How to use muldimedia buttons with other than Media Player
Hi,
is it really not possible to use the Multimedia Buttons (Play, Pause, FF) on the top of my notebook for another application than the Windows Media Player?
Is there any reason for this? I would like to control Winamp with this buttons.
It seems quite sensless to restrict the acces to ONE application of HUNDREDS available, an then this one is the Media Player which is not used by the most people.
I have the Satellite A210 Notbook.
Can you tell my how to control my winamp with this buttons?
Greetings from RobertHello Robert
Unfortunately there is no solution at the moment. If you check this forum you can find several very interesting threads about multimedia buttons and Winamp player. The fact is that some people have found solution for older notebook models running WXP. Winamp has offered plugin that must be installed.
Now we have new situation. Your notebook runs newest Vista OS and I didnt find any plugin that can help. Problem is that your notebook is designed for Windows Vista and preinstalled OS contains all necessary plugins for running Windows media player as a part of preinstalled operating system.
It is no kind of restriction. With preinstalled OS you can do what you want and if you can find a way to change it do this. You know very well that there are hundreds of different players on the market. You cannot expect that Toshiba take a time and create a plugins for all of them and satisfy the customers all over the world. -
Hi,
I have a question on using EJB / or RMI servers with CORBA clients using
RMI-IIOP transport, which in theory should work, but in practice has few
glitches.
Basically, I have implemented a very simple server, StockTreader, which
looks up for a symbol and returns a 'Stock' object. In the first example, I
simplified the 'Stock' object to be a mere java.lang.String, so that lookup
would simply return the 'synbol'.
Then I have implemented the above, as an RMI-IIOP server (case 1) and a
CORBA server (case 2) with respective clients, and the pair of
client-servers work fine as long as they are CORBA-to-CORBA and RMI-to-RMI.
But the problem arises when I tried using the RMI server (via IIOP) with the
CORBA client, when the client tries to narrow the object ref obtained from
the naming service into the CORBA idl defined type (StockTrader) it ends up
with a class cast exception.
This is what I did to achieve the above results:
[1] Define an RMI interface StockTrader.java (extending java.rmi.Remote)
with the method,
public String lookup( String symbol) throws RMIException;
[2] Implement the StorckTrader interface (on a PortableRemoteObject derived
class, to make it IIOP compliant), and then the server to register the stock
trader with COS Naming service as follows:
String homeName =....
StockTraderImpl trader =new StockTraderImpl();
System.out.println("binding obj <" homeName ">...");
java.util.Hashtable ht =new java.util.Hashtable();
ht.put("java.naming.factory.initial", args[2]);
ht.put("java.naming.provider.url", args[3]);
Context ctx =new InitialContext(ht);
ctx.rebind(homeName, trader);
[3] Generate the RMI-IIOP skeletons for the Implementation class,
rmic -iiop stock.StockTraderImpl
[4] generate the IDL for the RMI interface,
rmic -idl stock.StockTraderImpl
[5] Generate IDL stubs for the CORBA client,
idlj -v -fclient -emitAll StockTraderImpl.idl
[6] Write the client to use the IDL-defined stock trader,
String serverName =args[0];
String symList =args[1];
StockClient client =new StockClient();
System.out.println("init orb...");
ORB orb =ORB.init(args, null);
System.out.println("resolve init name service...");
org.omg.CORBA.Object objRef
=orb.resolve_initial_references("NameService");
NamingContext naming =NamingContextHelper.narrow(objRef);
... define a naming component etc...
org.omg.CORBA.Object obj =naming.resolve(...);
System.out.println("narrow objRef: " obj.getClass() ": " +obj);
StockTrader trader =StockTraderHelper.narrow(obj);
[7] Compile all the classes using Java 1.2.2
[8] start tnameserv (naming service), then the server to register the RMI
server obj
[9] Run the CORBA client, passing it the COSNaming service ref name (with
which the server obj is registered)
The CORBA client successfully finds the server obj ref in the naming
service, the operation StockTraderHelper.narrow() fails in the segment
below, with a class cast exception:
org.omg.CORBA.Object obj =naming.resolve(...);
StockTrader trader =StockTraderHelper.narrow(obj);
The <obj> returned by naming service turns out to be of the type;
class com.sun.rmi.iiop.CDRInputStream$1
This is of the same type when stock trader object is registered in a CORBA
server (as opposed to an RMI server), but works correctly with no casting
excpetions..
Any ideas / hints very welcome.
thanks in advance,
-hariOn the contrary... all that is being said is that we needed to provide clearer examples/documentation in the 5.1.0 release. There will be no difference between the product as found in the service pack and the product found in the 5.1.1. That is, the only substantive will be that 5.1.1 will also
include the examples.

We currently publish an IDL example, even though the IDL programmingmodel in Java is completely non-functional, in anticipation of the support
needs for uses who need to use IDL to talk to the Weblogic server,
generically. This example illustrates the simplest connectivity; it does not
address how
to integrate CORBA and EJB, a broad topic, fraught with peril, imo. I'llnote in passing that, to my knowledge, none of the other vendors attempt
this topic either, a point which is telling if all the less happy to hear.
For the record then, what is missing from our distribution wrt RMI-IIOPare a RMI-IIOP example, an EJB-IIOP example, an EJB-C++. In this you are
correct; better examples are forth coming.
Still, I would not call our RMI-IIOP implementation fragile. I would saythat customers have an understandably hard time accepting that the IDL
programming model is busted; busted in the sense that there are no C++
libraries to support the EJB model, and busted in the sense that there is
simply no
support in Java for an IDL interface to an EJB. Weblogic has nothing to doit being busted, although we are trying to help our customers deal with it
in productive ways.
For the moment, what there is is a RMI (over IIOP) programming model, aninherently Java to Java programming model, and true to that, we accept and
dispatch IIOP request into RMI server objects. The way I look at it is this:
it's just a protocol, like HTTP, or JRMP; it's not IDL and it has
practically nothing to do with CORBA.

Please post request to the news group...
As I said, you must separate the idl related classes (class files and
java
files) from the rmi classes... in the rmic step, you must set a newtarget
(as you did), emit the java files into that directory (it's not clearyou
did this), then remove all the rmi class files from the class path... ifyou
need to compile more classes at that point, copy the java files to theidl
directly is you must, but you can not share the types in any way.
I fear that as soon as the call to narrow succeeds, the remainingapplication will fail to work correctly because it is too difficult otuse
an idl client in java to work.

Hi Eduardo,
Thanks for the help. That is the way I compiled my CORBA client, by
separating the IDL-generated stubs from the RMI ones, but still I
get a
CORBA.BAD_PARAM upon narrowing the client proxy to the interfacetype.
Here's what I did;
+ Define the RMI interfaces, in this case a StockTrader interface.
+ Implement RMI interface by extendingjavax.rmi.PortableRemoteObject
making
it IIOP compliant
+ Implemnnt an RMI server, and compile using JDK1.2.2
+ use the RMI implementation to generate CORBA idl, using RMI-IIOPplugin
utility rmic;
rmic -idl -noValueMethods -always -d idl stock.StockTraderImpl
+ generate Java mappings to the IDL generated above, using RMI-IIOPplugin
util,
idlj -v -fclient -emitAll -tf src stocks\StockTrader.idl
This creates source for the package stock and also
org.omg.CORBA.*
package, presumably IIOP type marshalling
+ compile all classes generated above using JDK1.2.2
+ Implement client (CORBA) using the classes generated above, NOTthe
RMI
proxies.
+ start RMI server, with stockTrader server obj
+ start tnameserv
+ start CORBA client
Then the client errors when trying to narrow the obj ref from the
naming
service, into the CORBA IDL defined interface using,
org.omg.CORBA.Object obj =naming.resolve(nn);
StockTrader trader =StockTraderHelper.narrow(obj); // THIS
ERRORS..!!!
throwing a CORBA.BAD_PARAM exception.
any ideas..?
