Can mulitiple Apple TV's be synchronized to play looped video material?

I am wondering if it's possible to assemble a number of Apple TV's and have them play identical length clips, and remain synchronized for 6-8 hours. I am planning to play HD material with a 24 bit, 48kHz sound track.
thanks

You might be able to get close but there is no automatic syncing so it would be down to trying to start them all manually, so I assume this wont do for you. The tv also won't play 24 bit 48 Khz audio

  • Playing Home Videos on Apple TV

    Hi,
I have a few movies on my laptop in .mp4 format which I can easily watch on iTunes on my laptop. I recently purchased Apple TV 3 and tried to play those videos via airplay with no success. I tried plying the video file on my laptop iTunes and then selecting airplay to have the output as Apple TV but the spinning busy logo just appears before my request times out, and then I tried directly playing the video using the apple TV remote and going into Home Videos but once again, all I receive is the spinning icon.
So using HandBrake I converted the file, firstly by selecting the Preset function and then Apple TV 3. The m4v file has finally downloaded and I have added this to iTunes. It plays fine on my laptop but when I try to play it on Apple TV I get the same issues.
Occasionally when I watch the video via iTunes and the select airplay, the last video still appears on the TV but nothing further plays and a spinning busy icon remains in the bottom left.
Should I change the HandBrake preset function or am I doing something else wrong?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi griff,
Thanks for taking the time to look at my query. Unfortunately the troubleshoot didn't help.
As mentioned, the video plays fine in iTunes on the mac and the AirPlay option is always there, but when I select the Apple TV option it just goes straight to a loading screen and then after two minutes the Apple TV screen goes back to the menu as the request times out. My mac's iTunes is completely up to date, as is the software on the Apple TV.
I have tried a variety of video files, all of them work on iTunes and half of them I have used Handbrake to attain Apple TV and Apple TV 3 friendly versions - but Apple TV just cannot play them.
Do you have any other suggestions I could perhaps try?
    Cheers

  • HT3775 So,  How do I get a MacBook Pro to play mpeg video?  I don't need answers detailing what it won't play.  I know it won't play everything I've tried.  Can anyone tell me what Apple software is necessary to play files?

I've given up, time and time again on trying to play various video's whether from an online community or via CD/DVD file.  Searches offer countless non-Apple software solutions that all have inconsistent functionality.  Is there an Apple product that will actually work?  I have this problem with all my Apple Mac products, even the newest iMac which according to the salesman would work "no problem".  Friends indicate they have never experienced this problem, but based on all the returns on internet searches I suspect I'm not the only one.
I am not a computer savy person.  I just need to plug in and have the machine do what it should do.
    Anyone?
    thanks,

Not a problem, but that indicates you have a lot to learn.
File extensions like mpeg, mp4., avi, wmv, etc. are just wrappers. It is like a box the audio or video content is placed inside. The audio and video content must be encoded with a codec before it is placed in the box. There are thousands of codecs. Not all are installed on your Mac. You must have the same codec installed that encoded the video in order to play it. So, while Quicktime does support mpeg wrapper, it may not have the codecs to decode the internal video.
Some programs have lots of the codecs available to them, like VLC, Niceplayer, MPlayerX, etc.
You can also get "plug-ins" for Quicktime that add codecs to Quicktime, like Perian. Although it is no longer being developed, Perian still works well.
Why is it so difficult? Probably because they are always working on ways to compress the video to get better playback.

  • Can two apple id share music on one iTunes account

Can two apple id's share music on one itunes account

No. But you can have music from more than one Apple ID in iTunes and on your iPhone. You just need to Authorize both accounts in iTunes. Note that there are licensing restrictions; only family members can share content. This is enforced mostly by the honor system, except in cases of extreme and obvious violations.

No. You cannot link your contacts to hers. However, you can use Home Sharing to share the information:

  • Can an Apple TV (1 or 2) stream camcorder files (mixture of SD & HD)?

    Hi folks,
    A bit of background...
I'm fairly new to the world of Apple streaming. I recently got an Airport Express for the living room and we love it!
We're in the process of redecorating our office at home and I was considering getting another AE to go in there, but then I discovered that Apple TVs can stream photos as well as music, so I thought I might get one to replace the AE in the living room to add the option of viewing our digital camera pics as well as listening to music in there and move the AE to the office.
Then I got to thinking some more!
We have a Panasonic HD camcorder (HDC-SD9EB-S), which from memory records in *.MTS format (these clips currently reside in folders on my PC (yes-they are also backed up!), named after the occaision they were filmed on-birthday, wedding etc).
We also have a fair few clips from our previous (SD) camcorder, which I think are pretty much all files in *.VOB format, also in folders named after the occaision.
    So...
Can an Apple TV also stream our camcorder movies?
If so, then it's a 100% dead cert for me.
    Thanks all.

    Hi
The Apple TV can stream your home movies but only if you convert them into a format supported by the Apple TV, and import them into iTunes. The ATV1 supports the following
H.264 and protected H.264 (from iTunes Store): Up to 5 Mbps, Progressive Main Profile (CAVLC) with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps (maximum resolution: 1280 by 720 pixels at 24 fps, 960 by 540 pixels at 30 fps) in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
iTunes Store purchased video: 320 by 240 pixels, 640 by 480 pixels, 720 by 480 pixels (anamorphic), or high-definition 720p
MPEG-4: Up to 3 Mbps, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps (maximum resolution: 720 by 432 pixels at 30 fps) in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
    The ATV2 supports the following
H.264 video up to 720p, 30 frames per second, Main Profile level 3.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format

  • How many icloud accounts can one apple id have

How many iCloud accounts can one apple id have?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Whenever you use your Apple ID to sign into iCloud it's always the same account so to speak.

  • Can multiple Apple ID's be on the same iCloud

Can multiple Apple ID's be with the same iCloud?

It's not intuitive but it's possible. You must set up your external drive using the APT partition map. Install the PPC version of OS X on one partition. Now here's the trick: You must install an Intel version of Leopard on a drive that has been partitioned using GPT. Then clone that installed version to another partition the external drive that now has the PPC version of Leopard. You now have a PPC version of Leopard on one partition and in Intel version on the other partition. You will find you can boot an Intel Mac from that partition even though the drive is partitioned APT.
The problem is that Leopard will not allow itself to be installed on an APT partitioned drive. But an Intel version of Leopard will work just fine from an APT partitioned drive.

  • Can two apple TV's in the same house share one itunes library?

Can two apple TV's in the same house share one itunes library and play different movies at the same time?

I have two ATV G2 and one ATV G1 at home with the same iTunes library. I have played two different movies in the ATVs. One interesting thing you get is that you can start one movie and pause it and then you can continue playing it in the other ATV. The iTunes controls where you pause or stop the movie.
Agree that bandwidth is the limit here and probably the server throughput. But, so far I haven't experienced any problem.

  • Can access Apple TV via airplay, but can't get to internet or iMac from Apple TV

Can access Apple TV via airplay, but can't get to internet or iMac from Apple TV. Whenever I try to put my info in it says to try later. When I test network it says network time has not been set. It has worked previously.

Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
    Restart your mobile device.

why is itunes so hard to use - and why can't apple fix it
I dont know anybody who likes the way itunes works.'
This last version is beyond awful. It took an already hard to use program - but one that I had at least figured out and made it even harder.

    Wendy,
If you are experiencing a particular problem, please post specifics, and most likely someone here will be able to help.

  • Is there any other method so that I can contact Apple to get IMEI number ? since the phone was shyncronized several times in apple store / iCloud.

Hello community members, my iPhone has been stolen and I tried to contact police, they are asking for IMEI number of the phone. Unfortunately I could not read the IMEI number on the box due to moisture wiped out most of the number on it. I sacanned it in and enhanced, I'm still unable to read out the number. Is there any other method so that I can contact Apple to get IMEI number ? since the phone was shyncronized several times in apple store / iCloud.

If you backed up your iPhone in iTunes on your computer -
Open iTunes - Edit - Preferences - Devices - See Device Backups in the Window.
Hover mouse/curser on any backup. Read IMEI and Serial no. your of iPhone.

I have a 2007 20" iMac. Can I get a solid state hard drive installed?  Can the Apple store do it?  How long?  What cost?

Sure-glad to help you. You will not lose any data by changing synching to MacBook Pro from imac. You have set up Time Machine, right? that's how you'd do your backup, so I was told, and how I do my backup on my mac.  You should be able to set a password for it. Save it.  Your stuff should be saved there. So if you want to make your MacBook Pro your primary computer,  I suppose,  back up your stuff with Time machine, turn off Time machine on the iMac, turn it on on the new MacBook Pro, select the hard drive in your Time Capsule, enter your password, and do a backup from there. It might work, and it might take a while, but it should go. As for clogging the hard drive, I can't say. Depends how much stuff you have, and the hard drive's capacity.  As for moving syncing from your iMac to your macbook pro, should be the same. Your phone uses iTunes to sync and so that data should be in the cloud. You can move your iTunes Library to your new Macbook pro
you should be able to sync your phone on your new MacBook Pro. Don't know if you can move the older backups yet-maybe try someone else, anyways,
This handy article from Apple explains how
How to move your iTunes library to a new computer - Apple Support''
don't forget to de-authorize your iMac if you don't want to play purchased stuff there
and re-authorize your new macBook Pro
time machine is an application, and should be found in the Applications folder. it is built in to OS X, so there is nothing else to buy. double click on it, get it going, choose the Hard drive in your Time capsule/Airport as your backup Time Machine  and go for it.  You should see a circle with an arrow on the top right hand of your screen (the Desktop), next to the bluetooth icon, and just after the wifi and eject key (looks sorta like a clock face). This will do automatic backups  of your stuff.

My new MacBook Retina cannot play any videos on any browser. This includes the Apple videos. It keeps saying Missing Plug-In. I am not sure what I am supposed to do. Can someone please help me out?

My iPod mini, 4gb is hard to get serviced obviously because they dont make them anymore
It is as simple to get it serviced as the day you purchased it.
How is it hard to get it serviced?
How long have you had your iPod?
i get maybe 4-5 hours of battery life, maybe even 6 if im lucky
That is not good but it's not "terrible".
If you've had it less than a year, send it back to Apple to replace the battery.
thought that i might buy an attachment type accesorie that i plug into the usb port on my ipod
It's called a dock connector, not a USB port.
i found a product in the online store, that i guess you place the ipod mini on, and it gives you up to 20 or so more hours of time but then it says that you have to have a firewire port or cable?
What is it? The firewire port is on the computer, not the iPod.
If the original battery is going bad, the first thing to do is get that sorted out.
