Can not commit when using region in bounded task flow

Hi All
I am using Jdeveloper 11g R2 (11.1.2.3) & Weblogic 10.3.5.0
I have 2 bounded task flow in my application (A and B)
Each contain a fragment with few tabs (using af:panelTabbed)
I have another common functionality in this 2 bounded task flows
So I create another bounded task flow and add it as a region in tabs in task flows A and B
But when I am going to the common tab and insert record and commit using task flow commit it is not commit records in database
Is something wrong ? Any ideas how I can fix it?
Regards
Mohsen

Hi Frank
I am using below code for commit (from TaskFlowUtils class)
public void commitTaskFlow() {
getDataControlFrame().commit();
public DataControlFrame getDataControlFrame() {
BindingContext bindingContext = oracle.adf.controller.binding.BindingUtils.getBindingContext();
String dataControlFrameName = bindingContext.getCurrentDataControlFrame();
DataControlFrame dataControlFrame = bindingContext.findDataControlFrame(dataControlFrameName);
return dataControlFrame;
Your comment was too helpful , I change data control scope to shared and it is working now
One more related question:
Is adding bounded task flow into another fragment as region an advised approach?
Thanks a lot

Mohsen

  • Can ADF Faces Dialog Framework be used in a Bounded Task Flow ?

    Jdev. 11.1.1.4
    I have read chapter "19 Using Dialogs in Your Application" in the Jdev documentation.
    There explains that there are mainly two methods to open dialogs in ADF:
    The first (point 19.2) is calling a bounded task flow from a view activity (for example). This system can only open modal windows.
    The other is using the ADF Faces Dialog Framework and it seems to be more general. In point "19.3.1 How to Define a JSF Navigation Rule for Opening a Dialog" it is explainied the way to achieve this but the explanation begins with "In the adfc-config.xml file, create a page flow for".
    does this mean that I can not use this technology inside a Bounded task flow ?
    I have tried and it seems that it doesn't work.
    Currently we are using af:showpopupbehaviour to open popups, but this doesn't work with task flows and I don't like this.

    does this mean that I can not use this technology inside a Bounded task flow ?ADF Faces Dialog Framework can be used in both unbounded and bounded taskflows.
    I have tried and it seems that it doesn't work.The command commponent outcome must begin with "dialog:" and the command component tag must have useWindow="true", for example:
    <tt><af:commandButton action="dialog:toEdit" useWindow="true" .../></tt>
    Currently we are using af:showpopupbehaviour to open popups<af:showPopupBehaviour> can be used to open inline popups, but it has nothing to do with the Dialog Framework. Inline popups and the dialogs of the Dialog Framework are two different things.

  • Function module not working when used with 'In Background Task'

    hi,
    this is my code
    call function 'Z_IBD_FILL_ZINETACT'
                  in background task
                  destination  'SAPD220125'
                  tables
                      it_net1 = it_net1
                      it_net2 = it_net2
                      it_net3 = it_net3  .
    when this code is executed i am not getting any data in my internal tables i.e it_net1, it_net2, and it_net3
    but i changed this code see the below code
          call function 'Z_IBD_FILL_ZINETACT'
                 in background task (THIS IS COMMENTED)
                  destination  'SAPD220125'
                  tables
                      it_net1 = it_net1
                      it_net2 = it_net2
                      it_net3 = it_net3  .
    now i am getting data into my internal tables
    can any one tell me what can be the problem and how to solve it in my case
    its very urgent

    Hi,
    Pls. go through the  docu..
    CALL FUNCTION
    Variant 5
    CALL FUNCTION func IN BACKGROUND TASK.
    Additions:
    1. ... AS SEPARATE UNIT
    2. ... DESTINATION dest
    3. ... EXPORTING  p1 = f1    ... pn = fn
    4. ... TABLES     p1 = itab1 ... pn = itabn
    Effect
    Flags the function module func to be run asynchronously. It is not executed at once, but the data passed with EXPORTING or TABLES is placed in a database table and the next COMMIT WORK executes it in another work process.
    Note
    This variant applies only as of Release 3.0, so both the client system and the server system must be Release 3.0 or higher.
    Note
    qRFC with Outbound Queue
    This is an extension of tRFC. The tRFC is serialized using queues, ensuring that the sequence of LUWs required by the application is observed when the calls are sent.
    For further information about qRFC, refer to the Serialized RFC: qRFC With Outbound Queue section of the SAP Library.
    Addition 1
    ... AS SEPARATE UNIT
    Effect
    Executes the function module in a separate LUW under a new transaction ID.
    Addition 2
    ... DESTINATION dest
    Effect
    Executes the function module externally as a Remote Function Call (RFC); dest can be a literal or a variable.
    Depending on the specified destination, the function module is executed either in another R/3 System or as a C-implemented function module. Externally callable function modules must be flagged as such in the Function Builder (of the target system).
    Since each destination defines its own program context, further calls to the same or different function modules with the same destination can access the local memory (global data) of these function modules.
    Note
    Note that a database commit occurs at each Remote Function Call (RFC). Consequently, you may not use Remote Function Calls between pairs of statements that open and close a database cursor (such as SELECT ... ENDSELECT).
    Addition 3
    ... EXPORTING p1 = f1 ... pn = fn
    Effect
    EXPORTING passes values of fields and field strings from the calling program to the function module. In the function module, formal parameters are defined as import parameters. Default values must be assigned to all import parameters of the function module in the interface definition.
    Addition 4
    ... TABLES p1 = itab1 ... pn = itabn
    Effect
    TABLES passes references to internal tables. All table parameters of the function module must contain values.
    Notes
    If several function module calls with the same destination are specified before COMMIT WORK, these normally form an LUW in the target system. Calls with the addition 1 are an exception to this rule - they each have their own LUW.
    You cannot specify type 2 destinations (R/3 - R/2 connections).
    (See Technical details and Administration transaction.)
    Example
    REPORT  RS41503F.
    /* This program performs a transactional RFC.
    TABLES: SCUSTOM.
    SELECT-OPTIONS: CUSTID FOR SCUSTOM-ID DEFAULT 1 TO 2.

    PERFORM READ_CUSTITAB.
    EDITOR-CALL FOR CUSTITAB TITLE 'Editor for table CUSTITAB'.

  • ADF : Can we skip the default activity of ADF train in bounded task flow.?

    Hi All,
    I'm a newbie for ADF and JDev. Started learning from the documentation provided for ADF, I'm trying to create a bounded task flow which has a train component and every train stop should be enabled/skipped programmatically. I'm able to skip the train stops after reading the content provided at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/adf/learnmore/82-programmatically-navigate-trains-396873.pdf.
    But I'm not able to skip the default train stop which is the first activity call in my case upon initialization.
    Below are the steps I've followed :
    1. Created a viewController project and created a bounded task flow in it with Train component enabled.
    2. Added 4 views with train component marking the first view as default activity call.
    3. As per the document I mentioned above, I added managed bean files to skip the train stop programmatically.
    Now when i run the task flow, I'm able to skip the train stops number 2/3/4 but I'm not able to skip the stop number 1(first stop which is the default activity) on initialization.
    As per ADF documentation, for a bounded task flow there must be a default activity assigned which will always be called first when we enter the bounded task flow. So that means, default activity will always be called upon initialization of that bounded task flow and never be skipped programmatically.? or else if there is a way to skip the default activity, then please let me know the documentation/steps to do this.
    Thanks in advace.

    Thanks Timo. Your idea resolved my issue. :)
    I've created a new page in my bounded task flow which I've made as a default activity for that bounded task flow. Then I applied navigation through router and based on some condition I'm now able to move my control to my desired train stop. By this design I can do other customization on train button(Back/Next).

  • Bounded Task Flow as Dialog - 404 Not Found

    I am attempting to call a bounded task flow as an inline dialog from a view activity in my unbounded task flow. When the bounded task flow is invoked, I am presented with a dialog which contains a "404 Not Found" error. I thought that I had this right based on what I read in the developers guide:
    1. In my unbounded task flow, create a task-flow-call activity
    a. Set the "Run As Dialog" behavior to "true"
    b. Set the "Display type" to "inline-popup"
    2. Add a named control flow which associates a view activity to the task-flow-call activity.
    3. In the related view activity page, add a command control with the "action" set to the name of the control flow, and "useWindow" set to "true".
    4. In my bounded task flow, add a view activity which points to the JSF document (jsfx) that I want to display in the dialog.
    5. I add a task flow return activity to my bounded task flow, and a control flow that associates the view activity with the return activity.
    6. In my page fragment, I add a cancel button which invokes the control flow from the view activity to the return activity.
    Run
    When I click on the command button which invokes the bounded task flow as an inline pop-up, and I see an inline pop-up which contains the 404 page not found error.
    I must be missing something fundamental here. I've scanned all the doc and the forum, but I don't see it. Will someone please point it out to me?
    Cheers

    I appreciate the response, but I am actually building an ADF application that I am running in the JDeveloper embedded WebLogic Server. These instructions are for deploying a task form composite app to a standalone WLS.
    I'm just trying to run a bounded task flow in a dialog as described here: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/web.1111/b31974/taskflows_dialogs.htm#BABBAFJB
    However, I get the 404 Not Found error when I invoke the bounded task flow from a command control. The dialog appears, but the default page of my bounded task flow is not in it.
    Seems like this has to be a simple problem to fix. Anyone?
    Thanks

  • Open new Tab within a bounded task flow

    Hi,
    is it possible to open a new tab when iam within a bounded task flow
    There is a code corner article about starting a task flow in a new tab,
    but that is not applicable for my case, I want the new tab for only
    one view activity within the bounded task flow.
    I tried:
    public void launchNewWindow()
    FacesContext fctx = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    String viewURL = ControllerContext.getInstance().getLocalViewActivityURL("PDLG_ListeDrucken");
    // String taskflowURL = ControllerContext.getInstance()getTaskFlowURL(false, new TaskFlowId(taskflowDocument, taskflowId), params);
    ExtendedRenderKitService erks = Service.getRenderKitService(fctx, ExtendedRenderKitService.class);
    StringBuilder script = new StringBuilder();
    script.append("window.open(\"" + viewURL + "\");");
    erks.addScript(FacesContext.getCurrentInstance(), script.toString());
    ending up in an "HTTP Error 403--Forbidden"
    Thanks in andvance

    Yves,
    Always mention your JDev version.
    Can you explain your usecase a bit better? If you are trying to open one view activity alone from the entire taskflow in a separate tab, its not possible. Probably, you might want to add the view activity in question to a separate taskflow and use the approach in the code corner article.

  • Facescontext message in a bounded task flow with a jsff

    Hi,
    I have a jsf page that uses a page fragment. The page fragment uses a backing bean to do some task. In the backing bean I am creating a FacesMessage and adding it to FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().
    Everythign works fine and i can see the message during the runtime.
    When i create a bounded task flow using that page fragment, and include that task flow onto a page, i cannot see the message anymore.
    Does someone have any idea what may be going on?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    does the page fragment have an af:message tag ? Since you are not refreshing the parent page, which usually holds the af:messages component, its not showing . At least this is where I see the problem coming from

  • Where should backing bean for bounded-task-flow be declared?

    I have a bounded-task-flow that is used inside a dynamic region.
    I declared a managed bean to be used by activities (method/view) using the "backingBean" scope managed bean.
    There are two possible places that I can register the managed bean:
    1. adfc-config.xml
    2. the bounded-task-flow-definition.xml
    What are the differences between declaring the "backingBean" scope bean in "adfc-config.xml" and in the bounded-task-flow definition?
    What is the best practice for registering "backingBean" scope bean?
    If I understand correctly, registering the bean in adfc-config.xml is for one or more bounded-task-flow that use the same Bean class for instantiating their own backing bean. If the backing bean java class is only use by specific bounded-task-flow then it should make no difference to register the bean in either xml files.
    Am I correct?

    It should be registered within the bounded task flow for a couple reasons:
    1) Help maintain the encapsulation of the bounded task flow for reuse
    2) Managed bean definition metadata residing in adfc-config.xml or bootstrap configuration file will be preloaded when the ADF application is started. The actual managed beans will be instantiated the first time they are referenced. Therefore, to avoid the preload place them in the bounded task flow.
    thanks.

  • Data Source for reused bounded task flow

    Hi,
    I am using JDeveloper 11.1.2.4.0.
    I have a project from which I exported a bounded task flow to be used in other projects.
    When I include that bounded task flow in a separate project, its data source does not appear in the Databindings.cpx of the project in which it is reused.
    How will the data source for the reused task flow be set in the separate project?

    I have a project from which I exported a bounded task flow to be used in other projects
    By that you mean that you have crated a adfLibrary from the the task flow?
    When I include that bounded task flow in a separate project
    By that you mean you have added the adfLib created above to the other project from the resource palette, right click and 'add to project'?
    How will the data source for the reused task flow be set in the separate project?
    Once you have added the project you refresh the data control and the other task flow should show up.

  • Calling bounded task flows imported as ADF libraries

    Hello,
    I have a main application referencing many bounded task flows included in ADF libraries.
    Is there a way to make the application not throwing exceptions if one of these libraries including the called task flow is not found?
    The first question is how to catch the exception "Caused by: oracle.adf.controller.ControllerException: ADFC-02001"
    The second problem is that once an exception is thrown , the only way to make the application work again with that task flow is to redeploy the whole application with the missing library in the proper place.
    It seems it is not possible to just add the library at run-time.
    Redoplying an application also seems to invalidate all the current open sessions.
    Could you give me suggestions or best practice on making the main application more indipendent from the libraries?
    Thanks.

    Hello Frank,
    It seems there's no way to catch the exception thrown when dinamically calling a bounded task flow in a (missing) library. In facts, I added the single page of the main application as default exception handler activity. I also tried to catch ALL exceptions in the Launcher class below, but I had no luck at all. Task flows are called dinamically from this common piece of code (appropriate for the UI Shell template):
    try {
    if (newTab) {
    TabContext.getCurrentInstance().addTab(title, taskflowId);
    } else {
    TabContext.getCurrentInstance().addOrSelectTab(title,
    taskflowId);
    } catch (TabContext.TabOverflowException toe) {
    toe.handleDefault();
    } catch (ControllerException ce) {
    System.out.println("The flow arrives here " + title + ": " + taskflowId);
    } catch (RuntimeException re) {
    System.out.println("The flow arrives here " + title + ": " + taskflowId);
    } catch (Exception e) {
    System.out.println("The flow arrives here " + title + ": " + taskflowId);
    I also tried to call the task flow in a remote application, but TabContext.getCurrentInstance().addTab(title, taskflowId) expects the taskflowid to be part of the main application, not of the remote app, since addTab() always add a "/" before the taskflowid String passes as parameter.
    So again my question: is there a way to profit by the dynamic features coming along with the UI Shell template, where task flows can be really referenced and called each time at run-time, no matter if libraries containing these task flows are present or not when deploying the caller application?
    I also repeat that from the tests I have done it looks like I can deploy the caller application without the referenced ADF libraries in their place (containing taskflows that should be called at run-time on user actions), but the problem in this case is that after that moment there's no way to fix the problem by just adding the missing library, that is you cannot place the library where it is expected to be and expect the caller to work after next call; this will just not work until next deploy of the calling application when libraries are in place . We also don't want completely separate web applications. We need task flows integration with the chance to modify and deploy these taskflows as ADF libraries at run time, separately from the caller of the taskflow, without needing to restart/deploy the caller application everytime a libraries changes or a missing library is added.

  • How to create a page-definition for bounded task-flow?

    I should be able to create a page definition which declare all bindings required for a bounded task flow.
    How do I do it in JDeveloper 11.1.1.2?
    How do I navigate to the page definition when I am in the bounded task flow "Diagram tab"?

    I found out the following:
    1. To create a page-definition file for a bounded task flow
    Right click on the "Default" activity (not a view activity) of the bounded task flow, select "Create Page Definition" from the context menu.
    2. To go the page-definition file for a bounded task flow
    Right click on the "Default" activity (not a view activity) of the bounded task flow, select "Go to Page Definition" from the context menu.
    My new question is:
    In JDeveloper 11.1.1.2, how do I create page-definition for a bounded-task-flow if all activities are view activities (page fragments) ?
    How does JDeveloper I want to create page-definition for the task-flow instead of create page-definition of the page fragment or the page?

  • Best practice question for Bounded task flows

    We are new to Jdeveloper/ADF and I was wondering if we should always try to use a bounded task flow for our applications... is this considered the best way to develop an app? even the small single page ones?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    let me turn teh question around: How many tools do you have at home beside of a hammer ? In other words, its the problem you need to solve (and use cases are problems) that should determine the use of bounded task flows and its granularity. Note that for each use case the bounded task flow makes a good candidate for delivering it. Doesn't mean that every single page needs to go into its own task flow. For general bounded best practices have a look here
