Can not compute totals on a column based on a summary column

Hi. I'm new in Discoverer.
I have created a worksheet based on the following query:
SELECT O101158.COD_HACIENDA, O101158.NOMBRE, O101266.DESC_UNIDAD, SUM(( NVL(O101501.PESO_NETO,0)/1000 ))

The expression SUM(( NVL(O101501.PESO_NETO,0)/1000 )) is defined in Discoverer as a calculated item.
I have created a total on the sum expression. The idea is to have it compute at the "DESC_UNIDAD".
The problem is that only the label "Sum" is printed at the right level. No total is calculated.
Is this a restriction on totals based on aggregation or am i missing somthing here?

Error on OSB Proxy Test: Can not compute effective WSDL

The error below was encountered when executing an OSB proxy test. Only this specific service encountered the issue. It was resolved by restarting all the servers in the domain (3 managed servers and an admin server). Any idea on the root cause? So we can prevent it in the future. I am running on production mode.

I noticed that the section of my proxy service titled "Operation Selection Configuration" labelled "Selection Algorithm" was missing (despite being selected in my local proxy service).
the fix for me was to re-click the already selected "SOAP Body Type" radio button on the Operation tab of my proxy service, save and republish and it worked.

Compute total on a field based on change in values in 2 other fields

I have the following requirement
ITAB has fields
PO#     PO_LINE# ............ PRICE

and my required output in ALV is
PO#     PO_LINE# ............ PRICE

i want to compute the total price for each PO#.
Can someone please suggest how ?

Hello Asha,
It appears that you are looking for the subtotal functionality that is built into ALV. The "sort" table that is accepted by the ALV FM has a field named "subtot" that can be used to flag a field for subtotals. In your case you would flag the PO# field for subtotals.
A bare bones example of entering this information can be seen in the following:
" Fill out the field catalog, layout, etc.
" Now we will populate the sort information
ls_sort-fieldname = 'PONUMBER'.
ls_sort-up = 'X'.
ls_sort-subtot = 'X'. "This is the field that will allow subtotals
APPEND ls_sort TO gt_sort.
" Call the the display ALV FM
Now this comes with a number of conditions:
1. For simple cases, the field you want to subtotal over must be the left-most column. In your example it looks like you meet this requirement as PO# is the first column.
2. You also need to make sure that there is a column that allows totals. In your example you need to make sure price has the proper data type to allow for totals.
If you are still having trouble, I would recommend looking at the following code example: [Display subtotal text in ALV grid|http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/Snippets/DisplaysubtotaltextinALV+grid]. It contains a more complete example of how to use subtotals in ALV.

Can not retrive total result for 0HDCNT_LAST(number of employee)

Dear all:
We tried to create query from cube 0PA_C01. We used 0ORGUNIT and Number of Employees(0HDCNT_LAST) in the row and column.Also we created a formula to get total result of number employees by SUMGT (0HDCNT_LAST). But when we executed this query, there is no cumulative value appeared in the "total result" of bottom row. And we are not able to catch total result by formula as well. The setting for infoObject of 0HDCNT_LAST is integer and cumulative.
Can anyone tell me what is going wrong?

I am loading the headcount (0HR_PA_0) to Actions & Headcount cube. As a part of load I have used all the standard fields of the cube. Apart from that I have populated the functional group value from Employee-Org Masterdata. As this is an time dependent.
0HDCNT_LAST is an non-Cumulative key figure in the cube which is get populated from the 0HR_PA_0.
I required a headcount report by functional group. So I have pulled 0HDCNT_LAST & Period into the Columns and Functional Group into Rows.
When I run the report for headcount by function group it is showing very less value. But if run the same report by including the Employee and the functional group in the rows then it is showing the correct headcount in the result.
I am not sure where I am missing.

Calculate percentage column based on 2 other columns

I have 2 fact colums. Those two columns are column_a=count distinct of all records and
column_b = count distinct of subset of records based on specific condition.
I am trying to get column_3 as = (column_b/column_a )* 100
These 2 columns comes from same physical tables but two different logical tables (I have different where condition for each)
Result is correct (100) when column_a = column_b however I am getting 0 when they are different
col_a col_b Percent
8 7 0 why not 87.5
1 1 100
27 23 0 why not 85.2

Check your datatypes in your phyiscal layer, I've found if they are INT then %'s tend to get rounded to whole numbers.
Try setting them to float and report back if it works (or not !)

Can not get text selection cursor to change to column selection cursor

Hi, Thank You for any time and help .
I'm new to InDesign, and I'm hoping to use the new feature of moving columns / rows.
But, I can not get the text cursor to change into the column or row selection cursor.
I am able to get the resize cursor, or use the ctrl+3 shortcut to select the entire column,
but I can not get the downward pointing arrow cursor to select the column, and/or move it.
Sometimes the row selection cursor will appear, and some rows can be moved, but I have been unable to move the columns.

View with columns based on function - problem with query

I'm using Oracle 9i;
I've created a view which has columns based on a table columns (multiple columns from 1 table) and funtion (multiple columns based on 1 function).
The function takes ID as the first argument and name of the column to determine which value to return as the second one.
Here is a sample of such function (simplified):

There is no problem with query:
SELECT * FROM my_view;
The problem arises when I query the view (regardles of '=' or 'LIKE'):
SELECT * FROM my_view
WHERE name LIKE '%some_part_of_name%'
The query returns rows for same names, for same it doesn't. If I put '=' and the whole name the query returns nothing, but when I put 'LIKE' and the first letter it returns rows in some cases.
I've tried to debug this situation and I've discovered that the function recives ID not in the proper order and not the same amount of times - in explicit:
for each ID in (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, ... , 100) the function should be called twice for each ID and in the same order, but it does not.
I get 1, 1, 2, 3, 3, 6, 20, 20 and so on.
Help needed.

The problem is more complicated than the solutions provided here.
The reason why I'm using the function is this:
the original view was constructed using multiple union all selects and the speed was terrible. I've created the index on the base table to obtain a proper sort. For retriving all records at once the view works perfectly, but if one wants to query by columns based on function the results are suprisng - sometimes there are, some times there are none, or if you serch with "like" and only a part of string there are results, but with "=" there are no results.

How to create new calculated column based on filtered columns?

I'm using Oracle Analysis.
I have two column, each one have different formula.
My Formula based on filter.

I have a tried following formula. It is working, but result is not filtered.
I filtered "PAYMENTS"."SUM_PAY_AMOUNT" and "DW"."SUM_PLAN_MONTH_AMOUNT" columns.

How to insert into date column based on other columns?

Hi
I have four columns in a table called game named as
R_Day - Type - Number
R_Month - Type - Number
R_Year - Type - Number
R_Date - Type - Date
I have around 1000 records and i want to fill R_Date column based on the data in the R_Day,R_Month,R_Year.
How to write a query to fill the R_Date column based on other three columns.

Using Page Level Summary Column in Report 6i

Hi Folks,
I'm trying to create a report in which I want a Page level Summary column i.e., the Summary column should reset at each page and should display the sum of a particular field on each page depending upon how many records are displayed on each page. But whenever I choose the Reset Property to Page the following error is displayed" Page level summaries are not supported in the defaulting" and in certain case the summary column displays the sum only on the last page of the report and the rest of the pages do not display the summary column. The database has three tables i.e., master-detail-detail.
Do I need to make some changes in the Data Model or what?

Hi Hassan,
it only works onceWell, this is definitely not expected. Maybe you can try to see after running the report once whether all the values you set in your report (from my last post) remain the the same, or somehow they revert back to their default values.
if I do some formatting of the report... summary also disapperasYou could try placing the page level summary in another frame, below your group repeating frame, with enough gap between them. Also, try setting the value for "max no of records" to some lower value, which makes sure there is space for the summary column on every page.
Another idea for making a page level summary is - you can place the summary BEFORE your group repeating frame, which means the summary will print on top of every page. In this case, you won't even have to worry about setting "max no of records per page" to some particular value. See if this suits your needs.

I have a table that returns, lets say, 20 rows. I have created a summary item that gives a total for these 20 rows. Is there a way of creating a Summary item that would give me a total across these 20 rows based upon a certain condition?
As its an amount, I could create a hidden formula column and create a summary column on this new column, but it 'seems' like a simple requirement to want to create conditional summary columns.
Any ideas?

there is no break order property for summary columns .
so use the group by and take the sorting order for whole group
example:
SELECT DEPTNO, JOB, ENAME, SAL FROM EMP
ORDER BY SAL
You then create two groups, G_DEPT and G_JOB. G_DEPT contains
the DEPTNO column and G_JOB contains the JOB column. If you
specify a Break Order of Descending for the DEPTNO column and
Ascending for the JOB column, your output would appear similar
to that below (assuming you use a Tabular style):
