Can Oracle Migration Workbench 2.0.2.0.0 be used to migrate SQL 7.0 to Oracle 8i?

Hi,
Does anyone know that can Oracle Migration Workbench 2.0.2.0.0
be used to migrate SQL 7.0 to Oracle 8i? or the version
2.0.2.0.0 can be only used for Oracle 9i?
I failed to install Oracle Migration Workbench 2.0.2.0.0 onto my
workstation(running Oracle 8.1.7), because it need Oracle 9i.
Thanks
Leo Siu

One more question: where can I download the Oracle Migration
Workbench 1.4.1.0.0 in order to migrate non-oracle database to
Oracle 8i?
Thanks

    Why is this so...is it bcz of something with my odbc link...

    Hi,
    You must ensure that you have the correct password to login to SQL Server.
    The Workbench requires some of the tables in the Master database.

    I want to load data into a table with 2 clob columns using a sql loader utility dat file and control file created programatically.
    The size of clob in dat file can change and the clob columns are inline in data file.
    As per 9i doc the size of clob is 4GB .
    How can I change the control file so that it can load max 4 GB data in clob columns .
    I am getting error while calling sqlldr using below control file :

    Yes, you can do it. Create the sequence (suppose you call it "PK_SEQ_X") and then in your control file reference it as "PK_SEQ_X.NEXTVAL". For example suppose you wanted to put it into a column named 'Y' the entry in your control file will look like 'load data insert into table Z (Y "PK_SEQ_X.NEXTVAL", ....)'
    Note that the double quotes around the sequence name are required.

  • Oracle SQL Developer vs Oracle SQL Developer Migration Workbench

    Gurus,
    Can anybody let me know what's the difference between Oracle SQL Developer vs Oracle SQL Developer Migration Workbench tools.
    I am in the process of Migrating MS-Access Application to APEX. So the example says me to use Oracle SQL Developer Migration Workbench. Is this part of Oracle SQL Developer? If yes, I know SQL Developer is free.
    If not is Oracle SQL Developer Migration Workbench if free?
    Thanks and Regards

    Thank Oracle ;)
    (well, it's the least they can do after you paid big $$$ for the database)

  • Problem migrating MS Access to  Oracle 8i using Oracle Migration Workbench

    Downloaded Migration Workbench. Ran setup but it says that the Migration Workbench must be installed into an Oracle 9 home. I though it would work with Orachle 8 (according to the documentation). We obly have ORacle 8i here.
    Does anyone know away around this?

    Hi Caroline,
    the workbench just needs to be installed into an Oracle 9i home or a new ORacle Home. It will still work against an Oracle 8i database.
    There is a dedicated Migration Workbench discussion forum available.

  • Oracle Migration Workbench : import sqlserver database into exiting schema

    Dear Oracle users,
    I have to migrate several databases from MSSQL 2000 to Oracle 10g.
    To perform this task I use the oracle migration workbench, which works great for that purpose.
    My only problem is that the Oracle Migration workbench creates alsways a new
    tablespace with the same name than the sqlserver-user I use to export the database.
    I would like to import the converted database into an already existing schema of my Oracle database.
    Does someone know how to do that ?
    Best regards,
    Daniel

    Change the name of the SQL server user to the name of an oracle tablespace name. This should create the tables in the Oracle tblspce you want.

  • Sqlserver_utilities use for migrating MS SQL to 9i - compilation error

    I've seen lot of questions about compilation error in the sqlserver_utilities particularly on Oracle 9i database where some procedure and functions are not compiled and required rewritten. The main issues seem to be with new features or tables/views not available in pre-10g such as regex, DBA_IND_STATISTICS, etc. Even though there is a IF clause (
    IF NOT DBMS_DB_VERSION.VER_LE_9_2 THEN) to prevent execution, however, it won't work for compilation standpoint.
    My question is that do we need to comment this section out or rewrite to work for 9i - for example, DBA_IND_STATISTICS view for last_analyzed is not in 9i, but we can use last_analyzed in USER_INDEXES. Is that the only option (manual labor work :-) to resolve this issue for 9i database?
    Thanks in advance,
    IC

    I think you made the right choice to go with 10g, 9i is obsolete anyway.
    The Migration Workbench come with SQL Developer might only work with 10g because it's built pretty new in 2007.
    You can try the older version of standalone Oracle Migration Workbench
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/migration/workbench/index.html
    It support 9i, The Oracle Migration Workbench is a tool that simplifies the process of migrating
    Informix, and DB2 databases to the Oracle platform (Oracle9i and Oracle10g). Again, I still believe go with 10g is better choice.

  • ETL from SQL server 7 to Oracle 8i

    I am working on a project which needs constant (daily or weekly) data extraction from SQL server db to Oracle 8i db. The data come from 11 tables, and some logic needs to apply before extraction to make sure only certain set of data is extracted.
    Here are a few options that we can think of:
    1. Using Oracle Migration Work Bench
    2. Using Access as middle layer to do SQLServer--Access--Oracle
    3. Write TSQL at SQLServer 7 and push data to Oracle (but our team don't have TSQL skills)
    Do anyone has any insight into this issue? I would really appreciate if you can help out!

    Hi,
    I have tested using the following -
    SQL*Developer Version 3.0.04 Build MAIN-04.34
    and did the following -
    Tools - Migration - Translation Scratch Editor
    - made sure I was using the 'Microsoft SQL Server T-SQL to PL/SQL ' option in the 'Translateor' tab.
    Then in the worksheet put in your entry -
    PRINT '@HID=' + CAST(@HID AS VARCHAR(100))
    This is then translated to the following -
    BEGIN
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('@HID=' || CAST(v_HID AS VARCHAR2(100)));
    END;
    Is this what you did and the entry you typed into the scratch pad ?
    If not, can you give the full code that gave the error -
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('@HierID=' || CAST(v_HierID AS VARCHAR2(100)));
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('@NodeType=' || CAST(v_NodeType AS VARCHAR2(100)));
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('@NodeTypeReqd=' || CAST(v_NodeTypeReqd AS VARCHAR2(100)));
    Error(36,64): PLS-00103: Encountered the symbol "(" when expecting one of the following: . ) @ % The symbol ")" was substituted for "(" to continue. gives error in compiling error

  • Issue with migration DB from SQL Server 2005 to Oracle 11.2 using SQL Developer Migration workbench

    Hi,
    We face an issue while migrating an SQL Server 2005 DB to Oracle 11.2.  It fails during the process.  I hope someone on the forum has seen this before and can give us some advice.
    I use the latest version of SQL Developer with JRE included (3.2.20.09).  The JDBC driver to connect to SQL Server 2005 is 1.2.0
    Here are the steps we take in the Migration Workbench wizard:
    I made an online extract of the SQL Server database.
    Using the workbench in SQL Developer I created a migration repository in schema PDM_MIGRATION.
    Next I start the migration, it captures the tables fine, but immediately after the start of the conversion I get a failed message without further explanations.
    This is the content of the error xml:

    I see the PDM_MIGRATION.MIGR_FILTER is a type.

    Hi Wolfgang,
    Thanks for your reply.
    This is how the type MIGR_FILTER looks like:
    create or replace
    TYPE MIGR_FILTER IS OBJECT (
      FILTER_TYPE INTEGER, -- Filter Types are 0-> ALL, 1->NAMELIST, 2->WHERE CLAUSE, 3->OBJECTID LIST
      OBJTYPE VARCHAR2(40),
      OBJECTIDS OBJECTIDLIST,
      NAMES NAMELIST,
      WHERECLAUSE VARCHAR2(1000));
    I think the repository user has the correct privileges.  This is the overview of privileges it has:
    SQL> select * from dba_sys_privs where GRANTEE in ('PDM_MIGRATION') order by GRANTEE;

  • Error when using Oracle Migration WorkBench (Sql Server 2k to Oracle 8i)

    I'm trying to migrate a Sql Server 2k database to an Oracle 8i schema using OMWB. After using BCP to collect metadata information on the source database, I tried to capture the source data model and got a "Capture aborted" message on the progress screen (even though then it appears a dialog window reporting "0 errors and 0 warnings", funny!). Down there is the error log OMWB generated. After reading some posts, I changed some columns of the OMWB dictionary that holds the source database name, but still got the same error. If someone can enlighten me on this toppic, I'd greatly appreciated it.
