Can Oracle9i and Oracle 9iAS co-exist on same machine.

I was wondering if Oracle9i and Oracle 9iAS can co-exist on same machine. I like to play around with 9iAS and I already have 9i database up and running on this one box.
Thanks.

What issue are you having? You can install both versions of Forms into separate homes. You then have two versions of your Forms application, in different directories. Then your FORMS60_PATH points to your Forms 6i forms, and your FORMS90_PATH points to your Oracle9i Forms forms. There is no conflict.

  • Can Forms6i and Forms9i Developer Co-exist on one machine?

    Hi All,
Can any one tried to install Forms Developer6i and 9i together on same machine(Win2000 professional) working independently. Is there anything I need to change in registry. How does this workout if I have to work on 2 different forms with different versions on same machine. I am working on form6i to 9i upgrade while giving production support to existing forms6i.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Can i install final cut 4 and final cut 5 on the same machine ?

    hi
i currently use fcp 5.14 on my g5 dual 2.3 (pci-x). i am starting to teach fcp at a college where they use fcp 4.5.
i know that i wont be able to prepare assignments for the students on fcp 5 'cause they wont be able to open them up on 4.5.
the system admin at the college gave me a copy of fcp 4 to install on my machine to sit next to my fcp 5.
my question is, can it be done ?
can 2 different versions of fcp exist on my machine without problems ?
do i need to install fcp 4 on a separate drive so it wont conflict with 5 ?
    any thoughts on that ?
    thank you very much..,

It can be done with a dual boot setup. I'll not speak to whether it should be done, other than to say it works for us.

We had to keep FCHD4.5 for awhile, so I archived 10.3.9, wiped the drive, partitioned it and re-installed 10.3.9 on one and 10.4 on another partition.
Then simply boot from different startup disk, depending on which OS you need to work on."<<

Can I install Web Standard CS4 and Design Standard CS4 on the same machine?  My company purchased me a copy of one, and I have a personal copy of the other.  Wanted to make sure there wouldn't be any serial number problems in any case...thanks!

Yes, but do a custom install to choose the apps to install to avoid any possibility of conflicts.

    Gurus!
I have installed Forms+Reports server on the same machine with their builders too. But then Forms & Reports server does not function when i call my .fmx file in browser the message,
"Java applet loading" appears but then the process hang up.
But when only installed Form server my .fmx file works.I also want to call my .rep files from forms.
May i can not have Forms+Reports server on the same machine?
Separately they work but not both but i require both how!
I have also seen when both installed and when i start services of both then ifweb60.exe is called two times in memory, it shows from task manager's process tab.
    Please help!
    Many thanks

    1. Check these files to make sure you have the correct port settings for your forms: formsweb.cfg, base.htm
    2. In your Windows Registry:
    a. Add path for Reports Server (REPORTSxx_PATH)
    b. Make sure you also have FORMSxx_PATH defined
    c. Check values of your OracleFormsServer.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
    SYSTEM
    ControlSet001
    Services
    OracleFormsServer
Verify the values of Host, Mode, Pool and Port.
    3. Check Metalink Note 97487.1 for additional info.
And YES, Apache, Forms, Reports and Graphics can all run in the same machine.

  • Can Portal 3.0 and 8i/9i Database Software exist on same Machine?

Our current setup at work is webdb 2.1 and Oracle EE 8.0.5 residing on ONE physical server.
(Sun Solaris)I need to upgrade the Software to Oracle EE 8.1.7 and Portal 3.0. We do not run Webdb as part of an internet or intranet site(These are controled by other departments)We use these products so a small number of users (9-30) can easily access a data warehouse via a browser. I will never get the funding for a 2nd Physical machine to act as as application server. I am hoping I am confused but can Portal 3.0 and 8i/9i Datbase software be installed on the same physical machine? I was led to believe that 9i Application Server Software can not be installed on the same machine as the 8i/9i
database. Why do I need application server software or the 9iAS http listener when Oracle 8.1.7 comes with an inbuilt http listener?
If we have to have a 2nd physical machine,
management will pull the plug on Oracle and will go with another vedor solution. I don't want to loose my Oracle SQL skills, can someone please help!

I've installed Portal 3 (production) and database 8.1.7 on one machine running Windows 2000 and 99% works fine.
    The procedure is:
    1) Install the database from operating user X in Oracle-home A
    2) Turn off the http-listener for the database.
    3) Install iAS from os-user Y in Oracle-home B.
If you do not use separate users or use database 8.1.6 or earlier, you get problems with the java-patchs and libraries.
By the way - it is NOT possible to install a development environment (Designer 6/6i, Developer 6i, Discoverer 3.1) on that same machine. Cause is that ias9i installs Developer 6i patch 2 (runtime) and that version doesn't operate against the latest available development patches. So, I think in your case you have to install the development software on the clientmachines.

  • Oracle9i and Oracle 7.2 Connectivity

Is it possible to connect Oracle9i to Oracle7.2 with Create database link command.
because I have sucessfully connect Oracle 8i to Oracle 9i and Oracle 8i with Oracle 7.2 and I am getting problem with Oracle9i with Oracle 7.2.
    any idea ?

Yes, you need the cd for Linux. You can download them at technet (http://technet.oracle.com -> download). You find an installation guide on the first disc.

  • OC4J And Oracle 9iAS 1.0.2.0.0 And RMI Application Deployment

We have Oracle 9iAS 1.0.2.0.0 on Tru64Unix, two simple questions
    1) Can we install OC4J on Oracle 9iAS 1.0.2.0.0
    2) How can RMI applilcations be deployed on Oracle 9iAS 1.0.2.0.0 with or without OC4J. I mean is RMI naming service
is available on 9iAS that we can avoid running rmiregistry manually.
    Thanks in advance

Oracle IAS 9i is Glibc 2.1 based, as opposed to Oracle9i EE, which is Glibc 2.2 based. You need to install glibc 2.1 stubs which can be downloaded from their patch site.

  • Urgent: Can MS and Oracle providers coexist?

I need to make a quick decision, so would appreciate any definitive input on whether the Microsoft and Oracle .Net Data Providers can co-exist peacefully on the same workstations or the same server. I need to have different apps/services on the same computer access different instances of Oracle 8i, one using MS' provider, and one using Oracle's provider. We would use the newest 9i Client.
Can anyone say whether they coexist peacefully?

Thanks for the information, though the comment about the lack of Microsoft support for the 9i Client appears to be out of date. I just received confirmation from our Microsoft technical sales support rep and a priority support services analyst that Microsoft DOES officially support it's Managed .Net Provider for Oracle with the 9i client. The support will be limited to supported features, but all standard support services will be provided (e.g. diagnosis assistance and hot fixes). I have also received confirmation from both Microsoft (via priority support) and Oracle (via MetaLink) that the two company's providers can coexist on the same computer.
Interestingly, the most comprehensive support for Oracle features seems to be in a third-party provider - OraDirect from Core Labs. This product would eliminate my need to use two providers to support existing and new applications. Unfortunately, my employer is too conservative to take a chance on a third party driver.

  • Can you run Embedded PL/SQL Gateway and Oracle HTTP Server at the same time

    Hi,
I know this will sound a bit odd but their is a business case for asking this. Can you run APEX via the Embedded PL/SQL Gateway and the Oracle HTTP Server at the same time? Would their be any security/stability/etc issues I'd need to worry about? I know that I'll need to run them on different ports.
    Thank you,

I think I've done this in the past. Theres no technical reason why you can't do this as far as I know.
I can't remember if I used different ports or same port.
