Can someone please answer this question?

Hi, I'm new... I've been up all night trying to figure this out..
I imported the java.io.BufferedReader...
And I understand that when you have to input a NUMBER, you type this:
input = console.readLine();
double number = Double.parseDouble(input);
What I really need to know, is what do you type when you need to input a STRING, not a number?
I really do appreciate your help.. thanks!!

System.out.println("Enter employee name: ");
String input = console.readLine();
System.out.print("Enter employee wage: ");
input = console.readLine();
double wage = Double.parseDouble(input);
System.out.print("Enter employee hours: ");
input = console.readLine();
double hours = Double.parseDouble(input);It might be because you're overwriting your 'input' variable. Maybe try
String name = console.readLine();
