  • Can someone take a look at my project and give me ideas to reduce lag/optimize it? (relatively new to flash and need help)

    Dropbox - TV_AL_Q
    I really need to reduce the lag happening in this project. I know practically nothing about action script except for what I've used in this project so please keep that in mind.
    Im going to try and break apart the grouped art so its in its most basic form and see if that helps, and also change all my tweens to frame by frame since those two things helped me with an animation I did awhile back that was lagging severely.
    But I was hoping someone with more knowledge could take a look and see if there is anything that they know of that I could do to help fix this. I'm working in Flash cs6 and using action script 3.
    I have to turn this project in by this Friday (the 20th) so I would love to get this sorted by then but even if I can't I would still be interested in some possible solutions, just for learnings sake.
    Thanks.

    Thank you for yet another cryptic reply, remember I'm the idiot here who doesn't understand this stuff so please can you explain things in a little more detail. Thanks.
    I am using the JW Player setup assistant and it lists two types of code
    The "Embed code" and the "swfobject 1.5 code" but not an Object/Embed code that you mention.
    This is the code that the website is telling me to use.
    <script type="text/javascript" src="/embed/swfobject.js"></script>
    This text will be replaced
    <script type="text/javascript">
    var so = new SWFObject('/embed/player.swf','mpl','480','270','9');
    so.addParam('allowscriptaccess','always');
    so.addParam('allowfullscreen','true');
    so.addParam('flashvars','&file=http://web.me.com/nathmac31/Flash/WaineWeddingHD. swf');
    so.write('player');
    </script>
    My movie does play on through the player on the JW site, after about 30 seconds of waiting for the picture to appear. When I cut and paste the above code into my webpage, I don't get anything. I have dropped the "Player.swf" and "swfobject.js" files into the folder containing the contents of the page that I want the player to appear on.
    Where is the exact best place to drop these files?

  • Can someone take a look at my error log please

    MAC Mini 10.8.5
    Hi
    My Mac's been behaving weird. I ran Avast as well as a full Avira scan to make sure it is not a Trojan or some malware. However, still the MAC freezes up and my email's just been hacked. Just now my MAC did a weird thing: I was just writing an email - the only thing that was running was one Google Chrome window- and my MAC just suddenly shut down on me. When it cam back after the auto restart I had an Avast error screen showing that there was an 'internal error'. Couldn't find out what that error was though. Thanks in advance.
    Here is the MAC error log:

    I remember several occasions where files where downloaded onto my MAC without even allowing or initiating/ asking for the download. You just open a page and the next thing you know you see that something is being downloaded. Although I immediately trashed the downloaded file weird stuff keeps happening.
    Recently my emails got hacked, twice, even after changing password..and worst of all, in the last few short weeks my bank has cancelled my card 3 times and sent me a new one, because it had been cloned- every time I have anew card it gets cloned. I do not use it anywhere but my own bank's ATM...and this MAC.
    It's almost as if someone has installed something on my MAC that cannot be detected and that can see everything I do. Sounds a bit paranoid- but I really can't understand how the card fraud and email hacks keep happening!
    In any case, I have run Etrecheck and here are the results:

    hello voiceofrasin, that looks like an issue with hardware acceleration - please try [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL|updating your graphics driver]], or in case this doesn't solve the issue, disable hardware acceleration in the firefox ''menu ≡ > options > advanced > general'' (that setting will take a restart of the browser to take effect).

  • Can someone take a look at site with IE 6

    I have a site I am trying to get launched but just found out
    IE 6 is displaying the content of the Spry Tabbed Panel down below
    the left Div. It might be a Double Float Margin problem.
    Does anyone have IE 6 on their computer that can tell me if
    it is displaying properly now that I have increase the space
    between the left Menu Accordian and the Tabbed Panel .
    If it is not fixed, does anyone have any suggestions?
    Here is a sample page

    Thanks

    It looks OK in IE6 except for the Itinerary & Details.
    Before hovering the
    bar is too far left, upon hover it shifts enough to the right
    (same as in
    FF).

  • Miguel Sousa:  can you take a look, please?

    Hi Miguel,
    Would you be so kind as to look at this very old thread in the Typography forum?
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/1117170#1117170
    The god-awful mess at the Adobe Type Store is embarrassing and makes it impossible to evaluate any and all glyphs in each typeface needed to set text in Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, German, etc.
    Thanks in advance.

    Nómar,
    Thanks for bringing this up. I've replied on that thread.

    Hello b0nvivant,
    Thank you for providing so much information about the iPod issue you are experiencing.  I found an article with steps to take when your iPod is recognized in Windows Explorer but not in iTunes:

  • I keep getting BSOD, can you take a look at my dumps

    I am trying to trouble shoot BSOD's on my computer.  It seems like they are happening everyday.
    The image name was ntkrnlmp.exe in most of the dumps.  I got errors of memory_management, system_service_exception, KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED, and others in the dumps  .
    Aswsp.sys also came up in one of the dumps.
    Here is a link to some of the latest minidumps:  http://meltoninteriors.com/adjc98/minidumps.zip
    Can you take a look at the dumps to point me in the right direction as to the cause of the BSOD's?
    My computer is Windows 7,  64bit Intel processor, 32 gig of ram.  Intel HD Graphics 4600.  This computer is custom built so hardware could be an isssue.
    When I ran WinDbg on the minidump from the latest BSOD I got this below:

  • I have lost my photos/videos when i imported from my ipad 2 to my new imac latest version and it's not reading the files.  I have downloaded iMac library manager and can see them. can someone shed some light please ?

    i have lost my photos/videos when i imported from my ipad 2 to my new imac latest version OS X 10.8.4
    and it's not reading the files.  I have downloaded iMac library manager and can see them.  when i go back into iphoto i'm getting the following message :
    Do you want to switch the current iPhoto Library from “iPhoto Library.photolibrary” to “iPhoto Library.photolibrary” and relaunch iPhoto?
    I don't know what to do - please help !!!!
    can someone shed some light please ?

    So it appears you have only one library on the hard drive. Apply the two fixes below in order as needed to that library:
    Fix #1
    1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
    2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
    Fix #2
    Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
    1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
    2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
    3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
    4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    5 - Click on the Create button.
    Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

    Open your Displays system preferences.  Is there an Arrangement tab and does it show two screens?  If no Arrangement tab then your mac does not know it has two screens.  Maybe smc and pram reset will shake it free and maybe not.  Maybe there's something wrong with the connection.  Thunderbolt plugs are similar to mini-displayport plugs so make sure the plug is pushed firmly in so that essentially all the metal part disappears inside the socket.  The plugs can be a little tricky in that you need to make sure the plug is fully seated in their socket.
    If you do see two screens in the Arrangement tab then click Detect Displays and Gather Windows to get the Displays preferences of the other monitor on to your main monitor.  Check the resolution and if there is a refresh rate check that as well.

    Depends on
    the analog part of A/D Converter and the converter as well ... there are cheap ones which (if you're audiophile)? may give weak results but normally, those are suitable even being that cheap ... you name ones you have in mind to get more exact answers<
    the source ... D to D is : (lossless (theory))? , A to D (lossy (why, ... read above))<

    You can access the bookstore via iTunes on your Dell.

  • I've attached some pictures taken in Ireland, can you take a look

    thank  you to all who helped me with my lens issues. I have gotten the Peterson book, and reading it intently. I'm attaching a  picture taken in Ireland last year. Can you all take a look?. Used my 5DM3 with the EF 24-105mm 1.5.

    Ok, now I understand you're looking for critique... To my way of thinking, there are two or three parts to how I do critique.  Also, when asking for critique on public forum, expect honesty (nobody would do you any favories if they were dishonest in hopes of not hurting feelings).  So promise not to melt. If an image were entered into a competition, the judges wouldn't necessarily have time to carefully evaluate each image.  They're looking for "stopping value".  Here's what that means:  Imagine you are thumbing your way through a magazine... looking at photo after after.  They're all "nice"... but then you come across something with impact.  It causes you to stop and linger for a while on that image instead of just continuing to turn the page.  That "pause" is what I mean by "stopping value".  You could shoot a photo fo a sunset, but we've all seen thousands of sunsets so a sunset is unlikely to get anybody's attention (it'd really have to be some incredible sunset). I'm normally looking for basics... Is the focus accurate?   Is the exposure technically correct (not over-exposed or under-exposed)?- And then there's a variation on this... is the exposure also artistically appealing?  Did you use a narrow depth of field to help some single element in the image stand out and blur the background & foreground?  Did you use a slow shutter speed to create motion blur and imply a sense of motion into a still photo?  This are examples of ways to not just be "technically" correct, but artistically and creatively appealing. How is the composition?  Are you drawing me to looking at something?  Does it seem balanced?   Is the cropping awkward? I could go on with more examples, but the point is, I'd look for a technically good image and also an artistically appealing image that draws me in. While your image is nicefly focused and nicely exposed, what I'm lacking is a focal point of interest.    I suppose we could say that those rocks are a focal point, but the framing looks random and nothing especially draws me to that subject.   The shutter speed was fast enough to "freeze" the motion of the water, and the water is dramatic (it's not a storm, or massive waves crashing, etc.)  This means there's nothing of particular interest in the water.   if you wanted to evoke a feeling or emotion of tranquility or peace, you could use a very strong neutral density filter (e.g. 10 stop filter) and take a long exposure photo (on a tripod) near evening, and also down near water level and this would blur the water to an almost glass-like look (sometimes if the water is a bit more active you get a foggy look.)  Use of a circular polarizer (CPL) can help tune out the reflection of the water and make it easier to see the bottom through the water.  You mentioned you have the Peterson book (I assume you are referring to Bryan Peterson's "Understand Exposure").  In that book you'll learn how to shoot in "manual" mode.  I think everyone should learn how to shoot in manual mode and then learn how to to decide when to use fast shutter speeds vs. slow shutter speeds or narrow apertures vs. wide apertures for creative impact.  Once you know "how" to control your cmaera for impact, you don't have to use just "manual" -- I use almost all the modes on my camera.   There's a book I like on composition by Michael Freeman called "The Photographer's Eye:  Compositon and Design for Better Digital Photos".   Take some time to read... then take a LOT of time to go shoot and practice.  Some people are strong advocates of "just get out and shoot".  I prefer to shoot with a purpose... read something, then go try to apply that one thing (rather than justing out with no specific goal).   That helps because you can come home, review your shots, and decide how well you achieved your goal (make the goals things that you can realistically achieve.)
