Nokia n73 and Apple iSync problems

hello all,
I have a nokia N73 and an Apple macbook computer. I've been able to sync my n73 with my Apple (calendar and address book). It works for about 1 week and then stops working. I've tried deleting the n73 from iSync and installing it again (using both USB and Bluetooth). Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not, which is really annoying.
I have Mac OS X version 10.4.10. and iSync version 2.4 (501.2). i did not install any plugins because this version of iSync and Mac OS X are supposed to be compatible, but I have not been able to make them work.

I have an iMac G5 with OS X 10.4.11, iSync 2.4, and an N73 Music Edition (not sure whether this makes a difference).
I modified a config file several months ago (I forget the details, but I copy and pasted the entry for a phone with the same operating system, called it N73 et voila.)
If I plug the N73 into the iMac via the USB cable and try and sync (after selecting PC Suite on the phone), connection fails. Every time.
However, if I power off the phone, and power it back on, then connect the USB cable and select PC Suite, synchronisation works perfectly!
I cannot explain why, but rebooting the phone enables iSybc to work every time. Answers on a postcard to...

PS. Selecting Mass Storage (instead of PC Suite) creates a new drive in Finder, which enables you to quickly and easily copy music/picture/video files to/from the iMac.

Nokia N73 - Birthdays + iCal + iSync = 2 day events

All day events in iCal are displaying on the Nokia N73 as expected, a single entry with the time displaying as:
0:00 - 23:59
However Birthday's don't display correctly. Rather, they appear as two day events on the Nokia N73 with the time dislaying as:
23:00 - 23:59 on the first day of the two day event and
0:00 - 23:00 on the second day of the two day event
I can't for the life of me figure out why only Birthday's are not syncing as single day events with the 0:00 - 23:59 time stamp!?!?
Anyone have any ideas please?
I know this often happens with Sony Ericsson phones if the daylight saving settings differ between computer and phone however I have ruled this out given that it is only happening with Birthdays.
Is anyone else in a position to perhaps test this on their Nokia phone? If so make sure you have a Birthday entry for someone in your Macs Address Book as well as having the "Show Birthdays calendar" setting checked in your iCal preferences and finally ensure you have the Birthdays calendar set to sync in iCal.

But there are more or less elegant ways to circumvent them.
2.1 Speed dials have never been synced. They are a
feature of the phone. Not iSync or the Mac Address

But new with Tiger/iSync 2.4 is that they are deleted from the phone when syncing. This wasn't the case before.
2.2 Whitespaces? What do you mean?
I put spaces in my phone numbers for easier reading.
2.3 That's a limitation of the Nokia calendar.
Yes, it is.
But iSync prior to 2.4 (or 2.3?) had a more elegant way of dealing with them.
Does the fact that you've tried iSync plugins from
THREE different sources not tell you that the problem
is with limitations in the phone NOT iSync?
Or it only tells me that plug-ins in general are not that powerful.
The question remains to me:
What can be done to get this working properly?

Suggest improvements for nokia n73 and other devic...

Nokia n73 is the most succsesful device ever made by nokia. But you noticed that the images taken by the n73 are little blury and the video is also poor. If theres is nothing harware problem why not nokia fix theme with software update. Why not nokia try to make n73 just like n78. This will be great if nokia update n73 software and fix the problem. N78 also powerfull device but its buttons make it lazy. N78 will be more greater if its button replaced with bigger and esiar. And the improved new device will launched n78i.

I would not bother getting a nokia at the moment.....
If you can live without nokia drive for now then i would hold back for atleast 6 months and see what happens.
Nokia have slipped down the chain a bit and are not as almighty as they use to be.
There are loads of probs with the Lumia 800 and the 710 is not all that good compared to nokia's of old.
I got the 710 because of nokia drive and it is no where near as good as the old Ovi navigation...
In fact the whole phone is a let down....with poor camara, poor sat nav, poor speaker and poor battery...
The Actual phone is a nice design and the screen is not bad...WP7.5 looks interesting but still needs a lot of work to catch up with the others.
Not sure what the Omnia is like...but if i knew then what i know now about the 710 i would of gone for the HTC Radar and just used my N8 for Sat Nav.

Multiple gmail accounts and apple mail problems

I have upgraded to Lion, I have upgraded MobilMe to iCloud. I have multiple email accounts, including Google Apps and Gmail accounts. I now cannot get my regualr Gmail account to work in Apple Mail. I always get wrong username or password error. Anybody got any ideas?

Yea, I am having email problems across the board. I have Yahoo +, Gmail, Apple mail, corp email, and I use a lot of apple products, iPhone, iPad, MacBook Air, Time Capsules, Airport Extremes, Apple TV's and all in multiple locations. PLUS I travel a ton. Not to meantion I have to use a Blackberry solely because of BBM. So, the last couple of weeks have been interesting. My Yahoo Mail + account deleted all my contacts a few months back and has never been the same. I didn't, Yahoo did and then had the nerve to say 'sorry, you should have backed up'. So much for trusting the cloud. Now, Google and Apple seem to be having issues now after updating my MobileMe account to iCloud and YES, I have multiple Apple ID's and so you know what a mess that is. I could not be the only one with such a broad array of products and now having such problems. What a mess? I went to the 'cloud' 8 years ago after traveling in China a lot and getting tired of giving all my 'info' to the Chinese. So, I wipe before I go and wipe when I get back. Clould email seemed like a good bet but now............. ****, almost makes me want to re-activate my Hotmail account and see if it works now!!!! Never. I live in Brasil now most of the time so maybe I should just relax and go to the beach.......but I have to go to NYC, then Europe, then back to the Mid-East next week......Starting to think about going back to good old snail mail.....;)

Nokia 6630 and Apple MacBook

My Nokia 6630 and MacBook find each other and I can transfer files from MacBook to Nokia but when I try to send something from Nokia to MacBook, it can't find the device. Should it also work this way or isn't the MacBook supported someway?

Can anyone help with this?

You can transfer music files and sync your phone via Bluetooth on a Mac with the 6288.
If you don't have Bluetooth, you could take out the memory card from your phone and transfer music files via a card reader.
You can get a plugin for the 6288 from here.

Nokia n73 gsm radio/transceiver problem

I am experiencing a problem with the phone where the signal drops out at random times for various periods of time. I have contacted my carrier (t-mobile usa) and after some troubleshooting steps they recommended I try a different SIM card to verify it isn't a faulty SIM. I have done that and the phone behaved in the same manner with the other SIM card.
I tested my phone along Nokia e61 while driving and N73 would drop the signal while the e61 would show full strength bars.
I have tried a master reset *#7370#, but the problem did not go away.
I then re-flashed my phone with the latest firmware 4.0735.3.0.2.
The phone is still dropping the signal.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Is there a way to reset the radio?

System Pref. and Apple Menu Problems

I am having several problems. I can' open System Preference from the dock or HD folder. I can't open the Apple Menu. When I click on the Apple Icon, the desktop disappears for a few seconds and then reappears. I then can't drag any files or folders. Also, Appleworks quits as soon as I type a keystroke. I also can't enter a search or label file folders. This all began when I installed new HP printer software. I followed HP support instructions to uninstall the driver, trash the Printer Folder, trash com.apple.print files, repair disk verifications, disconnect the usb cable to the printer, and restart. Nothing helped and HP support now says its a system problem. I'm a new learner, not sure what to do and could use some help. Did I post in the right discussion area? Thanks!

Hi salem, if an "archive and install" didn't fix the problem it suggests that the problem MAY lie in the preference or library files in your own "home" user area.
(deleted - wouldn't work in this situation)
Head to your Home/Library/Preferences folder (NB - this is the Library folder inside your Home folder, not the one at the "root" level of the HD) and, for starters, drag to trash:
com.apple.finder.plist
com.apple.systempreferences.plist
any hp related prefs files that may be hiding here such as
hp inkjet utility prefs
hp inkjet toolbox prefs
hp printer selector prefs
RESTART and see if the problem disappears. If not we may have to find some more demons to exorcise!
Phone modems are a pain for those big downloads, eh! It is a good idea to actually save the package when you install them, just in case of situations like your present one. Software Update should have an option to allow you to do this (Panther and Tiger both do, I can't quite remember wrt Jag, though). Alternatively head to http://www.apple.com/support/downloads and download them directly from there.
Some Apple dealers will burn the relevant downloadable updates to a disc for you if you ask them nicely and pay them a small fee, thereby saving a lot of download time, too.

I am using Nokia 5700 and have 2 problems, plz hel...

1) I downloaded and installed Nokia Mobile Search 4.0, but I don't see any change. There is no field in the Active Standby or no 'Search icon' in Menu. I rebooted it twice and reinstalled once, but no hope. What to do?
2) 5700's web browser does not support horizontal page, so I installed Opera 4.0. But I don't see 'Zoom in/out' and 'find keyword in page' function in it. Doesn't Opera have these 2 most important features? If it does, then where is it?

alrite. I have made my mistake. I should not jail break my iphone. So if I purchase my apps again from itunes is that mean mean my data will be back?
I hope you guys can giv me some support here since I am Apple genuine buyer. I could be wrong last time and now I turn over a new leaf and learn a lesson.

Nokia N73 RM-133 Call Problem

Hello everybody !
I have a problem with my N73 device. Since the last firmware update, everything was ok, but after making the update to version 4.0839.42.0.1 (this is the latest version), sometimes when I don't answer a call and appears on screen "1 missed call", I cannot make any calls from the phone book, only by typing the phone number manual. To make calls again from the phone book, I have to restart the phone. Some people told me that this problem is because of the programs I have installed on the phone, but I reinstalled Symbian and I didn't installed the programs anymore and the same thing happens.
Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

Hello Vlad... This problem is not specific to the firmware you have. It's been there from 4.0736.xx.x.x through 4.0812.xx.x.x. It's a bug that's been there for quite some time...

ISight, Front Row and Apple remote problems

I've been using my iMac G5 with the built in iSight for a month now with no problems, however a few days ago I tried to pause iTunes with the remote and nothing happend.
I have since tried to use Front Row and cannot launch it with the keyboard shortcuts, or indeed, find it anywhere on my hard drive. Very strange as I have certainly not deleted it and only updated it to 1.01 recently.
I have also tried to use my iSight to test the remote using an Apple help sheet but when I launch iChat AV it tells me I have no camera installed! I know it did work as I took a photo of myself when I first set the Mac up.
Apple's advice on deselcting the 'Disable remote control infrared receiver' checkbox in 'system preferences>scurity' confuses me further as I cannot find this checkbox anywhere.
I have performed all the updates with Software Updat, repaired permissions and checked the disk with no problems found.
Any advice?

iMac G5 Mac OS X (10.4.4)

Front Row will be included with the next version of Mac OS X to come out next year, version 10.5 (Leopard). Until it's released, there is no legal way for you to use Front Row. Also, until it's released, we won't know what hardware will work with it (as far as remote controls). If history is any indication, it will be a $129 upgrade for your current Mac mini.
There are a couple of options for you right now, though. There's a shareware program called Media Central that will work similar to Front Row for you.

ICloud and Apple TV Problem

After successfully matching my iMac, MacPro, iPad and iPhone transfering from one Apple ID to the Apple ID I used to register for the cloud, I can't get my Apple TV to connect to the Cloud. I've updated the OS, I've turned matching on, I go to the Music menu, iCloud. I get a message that iCloud is loading. All of my Album covers show up, but when I try to play any song, I get the message asking if I want to transfer to my iCloud Apple ID which I click, I get a message that no content is available. What gives? I used the same exact process on all my other devices/computers. Am I missing a step?

I have a similar problem, but when I try to access my music on my AppleTV from iCloud, my AppTV just hangs on "iCloud Loading". Did you find a fix for accessing your music and other details?

Nokia Lumia and gMail account problems

Hi all
I have a Lumia 800 and I come from an iPhone.
I've noticed, after a week of use, that the gMail sync is not "a real push".
I've done a lot of test, and the results are not good.
With the iPhone the mail is noticed immediately, with the Lumia 800 could pass a lot of time.. sometimes 15 minutes!!!
I've also tried to set the account as an Exchange type, the results are the same!!
The sync settings are correct: "as item arrives".
Any suggestion?
For Nokia and Microsoft: please try hard to solve this issue!!
I'm really disappointed, besyde the battery problem now the gMail sync problem!

ITunes 11.3.1 update and Apple TV problems

Since updating iTunes the other day I cant play Photos or stream video through my Apple TV v3. Current firmware on both devices. Used to work okay. No changes made to router or firmware etc. Everything else works as before. Apple TV will however find and play audio from iTunes!! Figure that.
Apple TV finds some photo thumbnails but just spins its wheel when asked to display it. Same with video - sees thumbnails but won't play. Doesn't even timeout, just spins its wheel...any thoughts anyone from Apple?

So you can't play photos or video through the Apple TV because it just spins, but audio works. You may want to check the network performance since audio works but video won't work. Since it only sees shows of your photos and videos you may want to look at the second article.

I Could and Apple passowrd problems

Help, help help! I opened my MacBook and was asked to enter my i Cloud password which I did.It rejected the password, so I tried again. Same result. I followed the instructions on screen and entered a new password for i Cloud which is working on my i Phone and on my Mac but not on my Mac Book
The message i get on my Mac Book screen says " Backto My Mac can't start because of a problem with your account. I have tried to sign out and back in again and I have restarted the Mac Book, but I keep getting the same result. Basically I cannot access i Cloud on my Mac Book, but I can access it on my other devices using the same information for each three of them. It keeps telling me that I have netered my password incorrectly even though the same password works on the other devices.
Does anyone know what the problem is ?

If you mean shutting down and turning it back on, then yes. I have re-booted.
