Can't Configure iPod Photo

I have an iPod Photo 60gb. I've installed the software it came with, hard reset the iPod, installed the updater, restarted my PC a million times, but still the iPod will not configure. The dialog box comes up asking me if I want to configure the iPod, I click "OK" but nothing happens. And my iPod does not show up in iTunes. Please, please help me. Anyone??? Thank you.

What does your iPod say to you when you connect it to your computer?
Have you tried putting your iPod into disk mode manually, then connecting it to your computer again? See the details in this article:

  • Can't access ipod photos on computer

I can't access my ipod photos on my computer. the usb connecter seems to be working fine, its can charge my ipod and i can still sync music and stuff with it but i've noticed that the "autoplay" option (to ask to open device, import photos etc) no longer pops up when i connect it (even though all control panel options on hardware and sound -> auto play has all devices on "ask me every time"). I've also found out when i do connect my ipod, i cant find it on the computer (device with removable storage etc). i have an ipod touch, iOS 6.0. i've tried restarting both computer and ipod with no luck...

There have only been 4 things that i've done before this happened:
    1. i've taken 1000 more photos
    2. i've synced my old songs to my ipod which made me have to transfer purchases and use a different apple ID
    3. i attempted to update both my iOS software and itunes but it didn't work
    4. i installed snapchat recently (only app i've installed within the last 3 months)
there are photos in my camera roll. i've tried using the photo management software on my computer (windows 7) but it says that my device is not there and now, whenever itunes reads my device, it stops responding. itunes and iOS software is not up to date. i tried updating (as previously said) but failed. I've tried using a different computer and a different usb connector but it can never sense my device anymore. I used to backup my photos every month and delete most of them. I'd rather not send 1000 photos to myself to save them, unless i really have to.
do you think i should delete snapchat?

  • Can't update iPod Photo 60 GHz

I have a 60GHz iPod Photo colour display. I used it regularly until about 2 years ago when I bought an iPod touch and didn't need it as much. I've been using it occasionally and also it's been a back-up of my WHOLE music library. Well, suddenly I can't get into it. I'm running Mac OS 10.6.5 on a MacBook Pro 2.2GHz Intel with iTunes 10.1.1. The iPod shows up on my desktop as a locked hard drive. I get a message that says I don't have permission to see the contents, and I can't change the permissions from "custom." Meanwhile it doesn't show up in iTunes at all. However, when I plug it in, it DOES cause iTunes to launch. As well, TuneTech for iPod seems to recognize it just fine and seems to work with it, although I'm afraid to try formatting the drive for fear of losing all the contents. I tried to find an older version of iTunes but with no success. Besides, according to everything I've read, the current iTunes should be able to communicate with the iPod Photo just fine. So what do I do? I want to get a real back-up of my library onto my Time Capsule, then I've promised my niece my old iPod, because I gave her a Boombox with an iPod dock for Christmas, and obviously she doesn't listen to the same music I do. I have an old Quicksilver 867 in storage, but I don't want to have to keep it in my little apartment just so she can add new music to it once in awhile. What do I do? Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated! Cheers.

Try to see if you can transfer your music using a program such as Pod2Mac. Then try to format your iPod using Disk Utility or try to connect it to another computer and restore its software.
    Let me know, bye

  • Can't reset iPod Photo 30GB

My iPod froze today for the first time.
I tried the reset steps and I tried toggling the hold switch. Nothing happens.
The iPod is stuck on the main menu screen. The backlight goes out after a few seconds (normal) but I can't get the iPod to do anything.
I plugged it in to the power source and to the computer, which recognizes it and let's me eject it. But still nothing....
    Any advice? Thanks!

    Greetings Robert,
    Welcome to the discussions.
If a reset has not helped, then I would do a full restore.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60983
You will lose all of your songs and settings and have to resync with iTunes after the restore.
If a restore does not help, I would format the iPod using Disk Utility. I have done the format w/ zero option under Disk Utlility before to an iPod mini to bring it back to life. Your iPod needs to be in Disk Mode to do this procedure.
    Hope this helps.

  • TS1314 how do i open my ipod photo cache

please help how can i open my ipod photo cache when i sync my iphone4 a file appear on my library picture but i can't open it

I'm not sure if you are asking about the iPhone side of the synching, but in MacOS 10.7.x you can reveal the iPod Photo Cache like this:
Your iPod Photo Cache is stored in a folder inside your Aperture Library Package. To view the iPod Photo Cache in the Finder select your Aperture Library, ctrl-click it, press "Show Package Contents"  from the opo-up menu. This will open a Finder Window with the folders inside the package, and one of these is  the iPod Photo Cache and you can browse it from the Finder. If you need access to this folder from a file chooser dialogue, drag this folder to the Finder sidebar for easy access.

  • Want to use an iPod photo configurated for Mac on a PC

I want to use my old iPod photo (configurated for Mac) on a PC (but do not need to keep my songs and photos). Is this possible? If so, what do I do?
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   iPod 5th generation 60 GB

If your iPod is formatted for Mac it won't run natively on a PC because the Windows OS does not support the HFS Plus file system and therefore will not see the drive. Macs can read Windows drives so you could restore and format the iPod on a PC, this would also mean any future software updates would have to be done on Windows. This will erase your drive so you need to have your songs and photos backed up. Alternatively there are third party programs that will allow you to use a Mac formatted iPod on Windows, this is one for instance gets good reviews and has the functionality to let you copy content from the iPod to the PC. Not sure if it does photos but have a look: XPlay 2
You can read another user's experience of using XPlay at this link: iPod on Mac and Windows

  • Why can't I add photos to my iPod Touch?

    Using iTunes 10.2.2
iTunes Help instructions "Add photos to iPod, iPhone, and iPad" just downloaded.
Instructions say "To also move the full-resolution versions of these photos to your iPod, select “Include full-resolution photos.”"
There is no “Include full-resolution photos.” only an "Include videos"
Instructions say to "Click Apply."  There is no "Apply."
I check "Sync Photos From" and select the album I want to sync.
I click on "Sync Photos From" and get the message:
"iTunes will no longer sync photos to the iPod “iPod touch”. Would you like iTunes to remove photos previously copied to your iPod?"
Why don't the instruction match the iTunes screen?
How can I add my photos to my iPod Touch?

Try deleting the iPod Photo Cache folder. For its location:

  • Can no longer sync photos to my iPod Photo

Without any change in hardware, but AFTER installing iTunes 7 via Software Update, I can no longer sync photos to my iPod. (I have had no problems syncing music, pictures, contacts and calendars since purchasing an iMac G5 "iSight" 15 months ago.)
Music appears to sync correctly, as do calendars and contacts. But after trying to sync photos, iTunes stops with the following message: "The iPod 'my iPod' could not be synced. The required file cannot be found."
I have Restored my iPod and attempted to sync, but receive the same message.
I REPLACED my iPod's hard drive! Upon syncing, I receive the same message.
I deleted iPhoto Library/iPod photo cache folder and was then able to sync photos to iPod, BUT upon reopening iPhoto, and a forced reindex (?) of pictures resulted in about 1/3 missing.
After restoring the iPhoto Library from a backup, syncing the iPod results in the same original error. Deselecting syncing photos in iTunes removes photos from iPod, but upon syncing, same error message.
Restoring iPod again, results in same error message.
Does anyone have a solution? What required file is missing?

    iBook G4 1Ghz/iMac G5 iSight   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   iPod Photo 40GB

I too had a problem. iTunes wouldn't sync any photos nor list my iPhoto Albums.
I created a second iPhoto library and then added some photos and created several albums to see if iTunes could see the new iPhoto library. It did see the new library. I then started to add photos to it. I finally found the offending files - 4 .avi files - that for some reason when added to the library caused iTunes to balk. I removed the files and all is well. I even have other .avi files in the original library and iTunes responds normally - just those 4 caused the problem.

  • My ipod doesnt want to turn on completely and even if i plug it into itunes it wont turn on. i was wondering if there is a way i can get all my photos back from my ipod ?

in the beginning my ipod was working fine and then came to a point that i can only use it while it is connected to a charger. my brother went to go fix it so then everything was working fine. & a month or two later the apps on my ipod would stop working . i would open it but then they would just shut back down. & i told my brother about it and he said all i had to do was reset the ipod. so he did that and the apps where working fine. then 10 minutes later i pressed one of the apps and the ipod turned white and shut off. now all it does it shoes the apple then it goes white and turns off again. i really want to get my pictures back because they are important.

  • Can't see my photos or album artwork in iPod

I recently had to recover all my music, pictures, and videos back into iTunes from my iPod. I can play all my music and videos just fine. The problem is that I can't see my photos in my iPod anymore. When I go to the library in my iPod then there are a lot of "blank photos," like they're there but they aren't visible. iTunes says that the photos have been synced with no problem to my iPod. Please help.

    Select the iPod in iTunes.
    Click on the Music tab.
Tick Display artwork on you iPod.
If you cannot see it, make sure your screen resolution is set to at least 1024x768.

Unfortunately, I don't think it solved the problem. I believed the new iPod thing solved the weird behavior problem, but after that the button stopped working.
Do you know how to contact Genius? Because I don't think I can find a store in my area, when I tried to.
