Can't create a hyperlink!!!  Help.

I've been trying to create a simple hyperlink in my document about 30 times today, and nothing worked!  I did it once correctly, on another document, but lately, nothing.  I have to get this done, and I'm following Adobe's documentation, and I can't figure it out.
with the text tool, I select the words in a paragraph I want to link to a url, let's just say I want to create a hyperlink to the words:  "I can't do it"
I select them
go into hyperlink under 'type' and get the hyperlink dialog box, and select new hyperlink
In the dialog, I type 'URL' in the Link to --destination box.  Type in the new url in the empty name box with the http www. stuff, , click ok, and nothing.  No matter if I select URL(or shared destination, it doesn't matter, neither work)
I even try to save it to a PDF file, to see if the link is there, and it isn't.  What am I doing wrong?  I've tried this with simple text, selecting a graphic, and nothing.  I am totally stumped.
Help.

The Link isn't active in InDesign.
When you export the PDF ensure that you have the Hyperlinks button checked.

  • In preview how can i create an hyperlink annotation

I've upgradetd to mountain lion and i'd like to create a Link annotation on my PDF using Preview, but i cannot find the right tool
    The Help says:
Click Annotate in the toolbar, if you don’t see the annotations bar.
Click Link in the annotations bar.
but i cannot find the "link" tools anymore.
    Any hint?
    Thanks

Preview used to be such a useful application, why has Apple removed so many functions?
    1. Can't create a white box to white out an area - no way to remove the shadow.
    2. "Save as" is back in Mountain Lion version but hidden behind the alt key
    3. There is no hand function, so only possible to move the image around awkwardly via the scroll bars, or by drawing lines (sic)
    4. Can't insert hyperlink text
    5. Worst of all for me, it is no longer possible to "print selected pages". That was how one could:
Select exactly the pp one wanted to print - given that page numbering in pdf documents is often quite different from that in the view.
Create new pdf documents by selecting various images or pages and then saving them as a new pdf document in the Print menu
Create new pdf documents of just the pages one wanted, again by saving those selected in the Print dialogue.
Why has Apple wrecked such a useful application?

    Hi.
I need to create a hyperlink on a slide in Captivate 5 that links to an internet site.
I cannot seem to locate this function on the menus in Captivate 5.

    Hi there
It's unfortunate that you missed the links we tried to put where you would find them before you even posted. Because if you had read through them, it would have saved you from having to post your question as it is answered there.
Even though you missed the links, I'd heartily encourage you to read through them. Especially the Frequently Encountered Issues link, as it will also address some issues you will likely encounter with linking.

  • How can i create a hyperlink to individual emails?

I would like to be able to create a hyperlink to click through to individualk emails.  I plan on creating a simple database in Excel and would like to be able to instantly access individual emails.  I have done this in the past with files stored on my harddrive.  It's a really useful way of managing thousands of emails.
    Thanks!
    Nick

thanks 'a brody' - i have found MailTags as a 3rd part app which may do the trick.  in the past i have resorted to saving pdf print outs of mails to a hard drive and then using a hyperlink to the file.  it just doesn't seem very elegant (this solution can be useful where i then share the database with colleagues using the same networked drive).
i can't imagine i'm the only person trying to categorise and track leads - perhaps i need to bite the bullet and source a really good CRM app?

  • How can i create a hyperlink annotation on a pdf file using preview? the tool is removed from the toolbar

It seems that the tool to create an hyperlink on a pdf file is removed from the toolbar!

In order to initiate printing by clicking a button, the button has to have either an "execute menu item" type action or use the "print" JavaScript method. As you guessed, the former won't work since there are no menu items to execute, and the latter can only work if the particular PDF viewer you're using supports it. I'm not aware of any that do on iOS.
The button doesn't appear because you're probably opening it in the default PDF viewer, which doesn't support forms at all. If you were to open the form in Adobe Reader, you'd see the button but it wouldn't work.

  • How can I create a hyperlink directly in the navigation menu using iWeb09?

I would like to add a URL to an external page in the navigation menu of my website using iWeb09. I have not been able to change the URL automatically generated by iWeb09 for each new page. The best I can do is to select text or an image that I want to link to the external page. I would rather create the hyperlink directly in the navigation menu. Is there a way of doing this?

    Try this...
Create a blank internal page named "Link" (actually you can name the page whatever you want.) Then in that "Link" page add an HTML Snippet with the following code:
    <script type="text/javascript">
parent.window.location = "http://www.externalpage.com"; // change this to your own URL
    </script>
...Once published, clicking on "Link" in iWeb’s navbar will immediately redirect to the external page. (Thanks to Cyclosaurus for the code).

  • How can I create a hyperlink to a thirth party WEB site from Muse?

Hello, I just started using muse a week a go, I´m almost done with my first site but I´m trying to use the One Gennius Gallery and create a hyperlink to a thirth party WEBsite but it only shows option to go to a page within the same site, not to anotherone

    Just follow these steps:
    1. Go to plan view and create a blank page wherever you like.
    2. Name this page according to the target, you want to link to (optional).
    3. Rightclick the icon of this new page and choose "Menu Options/Include Page without Hyperlink".
    4. Go to your site menu and localize the entry of this particular page.
    5. Select this entry, go to the command strip on top of the Muse window and enter the address of the homepage you want to link to into the "Hyperlinks" field.

  • How can I create a hyperlink at the end of my video?

    Hi everyone-
Is it possible to create a hyperlink (or clickable URL) at the end of my video in Premiere Pro? I'd like to be able to have some simple language to an end card reading, "To learn more, click here" with a hyperlink leading to a relevant website.
(I know there are ways to do this in YouTube with Annotations, but this isn't my question. This video will not be hosted on YouTube.)
    Thanks!

As noted in the other reply, this isn't done through the video editor. It's something that needs to be available from the hosting service for the video ... and handled through that end. The sort of command that says "at this point in the timeline clicking on video gets this reaction ... ". So check with whatever "service" will be hosting it for the details of how they handle this, and then you would add the text into your video at the appropriate moment in "time" ... but it would actually be the command system of the hosting service that would have the actionable command.

  • In Sharepoint Server, can you create a hyperlink to a specific bookmark on a page by using the [[double square brackets]]?

I really like the ability to use the square double brackets for hyperlinks.  It is much easier because it automatically changes the hyperlink if the page name changes.  I would like to do this with bookmarks on other pages (for example,
I am on the home page, but I want [[Products#Automotive]] to take me to the Products page at the Automotive bookmark.
Thank you kindly for your help.

    Only one Wiki pages, see
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/14992.creating-bookmarks-in-sharepoint-2010-wiki-pages.aspx I also remember the TechNet galleries contained a download that adds a menu item on a Wiki page to add bookmarks, but I wasn't able to
    locate it just now.

  • Can I create multiple hyperlinks to the same location at once?

Hello all - I'm a first-time poster here hoping for some guidance creating links in a document.  The docs I'm working with are maps, made from .JPG images combined with a text index into a PDF file.  The index was created in MS Word, then saved as a PDF so it can be combined with the .JPG files as a single document.  The index consists of locations with page numbers indicating the .JPG page where they can be found.  An example portion of the index is below (it looks rather sloppy here, but is aligned as a table in the actual document):
    S
    SAN JUAN CREEK                                                     3208
    SAN JUAN ROCK                                                       3302
SPECIAL USE AREA (NO ANCHORING)                 3306
SPIRIT OF DANA POINT (TALL SHIP)                      3203
    STATE LIFEGUARD HEADQUARTERS                    3208
    T
    TURK'S - 34683 GOLDEN LANTERN                     3206
    W
    WEST ANCHORAGE                                                  3203
    WEST BASIN                                                              3204
    WEST JETTY                                                               3203, 3303-06
So here's my question.  I know how to create a link from the text number for page 3208 that will jump me to that actual page in the PDF document.  But is there a way to batch process this?  Each page number appears multiple times throughout the index.  So rather than manually finding every time the number 3208 appears in the text and creating a link to that page each time, is there some way I can highlight all instances of that number at once, and only have to perform the action of linking to page 3208 just one time?  Since I'll still have to do this for all the different pages in the document, only having to do it once per page would save a lot of time.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

It's possible to do it, but it requires a complex script or external tool.
I've recently developed a tool that allows you to search multiple PDF files and do various things with the results. One of those things is place links above them. This tool is very powerful and even allows you to use Regular Expressions, so you don't need to search for "3208" and then link it to page 3208, and then do the same with "3203", "3206", etc., but you can search for "\d{4}" and it will find all the instances of four-digit numbers and link them to their matching pages.
You can contact me personally to discuss it further at [try6767 at gmail dot com] or via a PM.

  • Can't Create Statement Object - Help

    Hi:
    I'm using NetBeans 5.0
    which is pointing at:
    Java\jdk1.5.0_07
The IDE can't see the Statement object:
    'cannot find symbol Statement'.
    It won't compile.
I've included: import java.* at the top of the file.
It's not having a problem creating the connection object, just the Statement object.
Can you tell me what I'm missing or what I need to make the IDE 'see' the Statement type?
    Class.forName("com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver");
    oCn = java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection(getConnectionUrl), userName,password);
Statement stmt = oCn.createStatement(); //<<-- IDE cant' see this

Never mind. I figured it out:
    import java.sql.
In general, these forums are GREAT!!
Thanks very much for all the answers you 've given me.
You're better than ANY support team:o)

  • Can I create iWeb hyperlinks from individual slides in slideshow?

I have made a slideshow in iPhoto and dragged it onto my iWeb homepage.   I now want to make links between each individual slide and one of my pages.  Is this possible.  When I click the link icon in the inspector the slides on the slideshow will not highlight to allow links to be made.  Is there another way to do this? Thanks.

I don't know about the iWeb slideshow as I don't use it but there are lots of choices for a banner/slideshow that will do what you want...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/Banner-Slideshow/Action-Banner.html
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/Banner-Slideshow/Conveyor-Belt.html
The JQuery Anything slider will do a lot more than most. You can add text, links and movies as slides...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/Banner-Slideshow/Anything-JQuery-Slider.html
I haven't seen anybody do that with the iWeb slideshow - yet!
Wow, Nivo and Galleria, shown on subsequent pages, can all be adapted to use hyperlinks.
