Can't create an ExecuteWithParams activity in a bounded task flow

I'm trying to replicate the application in the demo, Passing Parameters to a TaskFlow on the URL - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3cklxe1qq5I
I created a ViewObject named PagerByLastName which has an iterator with the generated name, PagerByLastName1Iterator
(in Data Controls, a node is created for PagerByLastName , named PagerByLastName1
PagerByLastName1 has query with a parameter and binding variable for the parameter.
Next, I created a bound task flow and tried to drop an ExecuteWithParams from within PagerByLastName1 onto the bounded task flow.
However, in the Edit Action Binding dialog that opens, the Data Collection section is read-only and I'm unable to select a data collection to create
the ExecuteWithParams activity.
A warning message appears as I try to drop ExecuteWithParams -
"WARNING: IteratorNameNotFound--AppModuleDataControl1.PagerByLastName1"
However, the iterator name should be PagerByLastName1Iterator
Known issue? Is there any workaround?

What do you mean when you say:

The ViewObject does have both a query and bind variable defined for the parameter in the query.
The query is
select BEEPER, FIRST_NAME, MIDDLE_NAME, LAST_NAME, OUN from PERSON_ALL_V4 where ( ( ( UPPER(LAST_NAME) LIKE UPPER('%' || :lastname) ) OR ( :lastname IS NULL ) ) ) and cyber_status='Active'
lastname is the bind variable
I DnD the ExecuteWithParams node to the task flow and the Edit Action Bindings dialog opens, but I cannot select a data collection, the collections are collapsed
and can't be expanded.

  • ADF : Can we skip the default activity of ADF train in bounded task flow.?

    Hi All,
    I'm a newbie for ADF and JDev. Started learning from the documentation provided for ADF, I'm trying to create a bounded task flow which has a train component and every train stop should be enabled/skipped programmatically. I'm able to skip the train stops after reading the content provided at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/adf/learnmore/82-programmatically-navigate-trains-396873.pdf.
    But I'm not able to skip the default train stop which is the first activity call in my case upon initialization.
    Below are the steps I've followed :
    1. Created a viewController project and created a bounded task flow in it with Train component enabled.
    2. Added 4 views with train component marking the first view as default activity call.
    3. As per the document I mentioned above, I added managed bean files to skip the train stop programmatically.
    Now when i run the task flow, I'm able to skip the train stops number 2/3/4 but I'm not able to skip the stop number 1(first stop which is the default activity) on initialization.
    As per ADF documentation, for a bounded task flow there must be a default activity assigned which will always be called first when we enter the bounded task flow. So that means, default activity will always be called upon initialization of that bounded task flow and never be skipped programmatically.? or else if there is a way to skip the default activity, then please let me know the documentation/steps to do this.
    Thanks in advace.

    Thanks Timo. Your idea resolved my issue. :)
    I've created a new page in my bounded task flow which I've made as a default activity for that bounded task flow. Then I applied navigation through router and based on some condition I'm now able to move my control to my desired train stop. By this design I can do other customization on train button(Back/Next).

  • How to create a page-definition for bounded task-flow?

    I should be able to create a page definition which declare all bindings required for a bounded task flow.
    How do I do it in JDeveloper 11.1.1.2?
    How do I navigate to the page definition when I am in the bounded task flow "Diagram tab"?

    I found out the following:
    1. To create a page-definition file for a bounded task flow
    Right click on the "Default" activity (not a view activity) of the bounded task flow, select "Create Page Definition" from the context menu.
    2. To go the page-definition file for a bounded task flow
    Right click on the "Default" activity (not a view activity) of the bounded task flow, select "Go to Page Definition" from the context menu.
    My new question is:
    In JDeveloper 11.1.1.2, how do I create page-definition for a bounded-task-flow if all activities are view activities (page fragments) ?
    How does JDeveloper I want to create page-definition for the task-flow instead of create page-definition of the page fragment or the page?

  • Can we create application using only bounded task flow ?

    I am new to ADF ..
    can we create application by using only bounded task flow ...?
    one unbounded task flow is necessary for any application ? ....
    i searched on net ..but its not became clear
    Thanks

    I believe that it requires you to have at least one unbounded task flow as the standard entrance point for the application. However, I don't think there is anything stopping you from having the unbounded task flow only have access to your first bounded task flow. However, one of the purposes of the unbounded task flow is to define the different acceptable entrance points to your application.

  • Bounded task flow not executing in a default view activity.

    Hi,
    I am practising Region to Region Interaction between two bounded taskflows in an unbounded task flow.
    I will just illustrate the theme:
    *Unbounded task flow[ DEfault view activity(view1)]*
    view1 contains Bounded task flow task 1 and task2.
    task 1 contains fragment frag1 .
    task 2 contains fragment frag2. I want to establish communication between task 1 and task2 through contextual events.
    I have created managed bean seperately for each bounded taskflow bean1 in task1 and bean2 in task2 which are in session scope that is frag1 vaues are maaped to bean1 and frag 2 values are mapped to bean2.
    I completed full flow of creating contextula events and event map too. I was stuck with errror.
    So I created an application only with default view activity containg boundsed taskflow and fragments and respective beans without contextual event and event map , so that i can make sure atleast my basicview is executing properl;y. But I failed to have result.
    Error is shown below:

    The error logs point to an error in your EL that references the frag1 bean. Firstly, rather than use session scope you must consider using pageFlowScope for your managed bean.

  • Can I reference page-flow bean from a bounded-task-flow page-fragment?

    I have a view activity implemented as page fragment in my bounded task flow.
    I declare a page-flow scope managed-bean in adfc-config.xml to do some initialization for the bounded-task-flow:
    <managed-bean id="__23">
    <managed-bean-name id="__22">TaskFlowBean</managed-bean-name>
    <managed-bean-class id="__21">view.backing.TaskFlowBackingBean</managed-bean-class>
    <managed-bean-scope id="__20">pageFlow</managed-bean-scope>
    </managed-bean>
    In my bounded task flow, the default activity is a method-call activity which call the page-flow bean method
    <method-call id="initFlow">
    <method>#{pageFlowScope.TaskFlowBean.initFlow}</method>
    <outcome id="__27">
    <fixed-outcome>showPanel</fixed-outcome>
    </outcome>
    </method-call>
    But JDeveloper (11.1.1.2) show a warning "Refereneed pageFlowScope not found" at the "Diagram" view of the flow definition.
    The fixed outcome of the default activity is to render a page-fragment which also reference the page-flow scope bean method getPanelTitle():
    <af:panelBox text="#{pageFlowScope.TaskFlowBean.panelTitle}" id="pb1">
    <f:facet name="toolbar"/>
    </af:panelBox>
    At runtime, the page fragment was rendered properly except the panel box title is missing. No other error is reported
    When I debugged the application, the bean methods initFlow() and getPanelTitle() didn't get call as the program didn't stop at the breakpoint set in the bean methods.
    The page fragment was rendered properly except the panel box title is missing.
    When I change the scope to backing bean, both initFlow() and getPanelTitle() get called but under a different backing bean.
    As the bean attributes set by initFlow() were not no longer set when getPanelTitle() was invoked even though the methods were invoked in the correct order.
    Why can't I use a page-flow scope bean within the bounded task flow?
    On further debugging, I noticed the bean was not created when it is set to be page-flow scope. I put a debug message in the constructor... never get called.
    When should a page-flow scope bean be created to be accessible on entry to a bounded task flow?
    Edited by: Pricilla on Apr 29, 2010 3:16 PM

    Please check the scope of the pageFlow from the manual.
    pageFlowScope is only available for the pages/views in that taskflow and not in the included taskflows.

  • Can ADF Faces Dialog Framework be used in a Bounded Task Flow ?

    Jdev. 11.1.1.4
    I have read chapter "19 Using Dialogs in Your Application" in the Jdev documentation.
    There explains that there are mainly two methods to open dialogs in ADF:
    The first (point 19.2) is calling a bounded task flow from a view activity (for example). This system can only open modal windows.
    The other is using the ADF Faces Dialog Framework and it seems to be more general. In point "19.3.1 How to Define a JSF Navigation Rule for Opening a Dialog" it is explainied the way to achieve this but the explanation begins with "In the adfc-config.xml file, create a page flow for".
    does this mean that I can not use this technology inside a Bounded task flow ?
    I have tried and it seems that it doesn't work.
    Currently we are using af:showpopupbehaviour to open popups, but this doesn't work with task flows and I don't like this.

    does this mean that I can not use this technology inside a Bounded task flow ?ADF Faces Dialog Framework can be used in both unbounded and bounded taskflows.
    I have tried and it seems that it doesn't work.The command commponent outcome must begin with "dialog:" and the command component tag must have useWindow="true", for example:
    <tt><af:commandButton action="dialog:toEdit" useWindow="true" .../></tt>
    Currently we are using af:showpopupbehaviour to open popups<af:showPopupBehaviour> can be used to open inline popups, but it has nothing to do with the Dialog Framework. Inline popups and the dialogs of the Dialog Framework are two different things.

  • Why Dev Guide says "create a separate project for each ADF task flow ..."

    Hi,
    We have a BPM process application which is having a few human tasks. The form for each of the human tasks is similar. We’d like to be able to share some page fragments or code between them and create single web application to handle all the human tasks for this BPM process application. Then I found the following in the Oracle document “Developer’s Guide for Oracle SOA Suite 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.4.0)”:
    “If the SOA composite contains multiple human tasks, create a separate project for each ADF task flow associated with each human task.”
    I wonder if we have to do that and if so, what is the reason.
    Do you have any clue? Please help.
    Thanks a lot,
    Helen

    Hi Helen
    1. I do not know the reason why they mentioned like separate project for each human task. NO, this is not required and we can have just one UI Project like MyTaskForms and have all the JSPs in this same project for each Human Task.
    2. On our side, we have like 10 Human Tasks, all using the same Payload. So we have 10 .task file. For the very first .task file, we used Auto Generate Project and gave project name like OurAppTaskForms. The reason we did this is, so that it adds all the required dependent libraries, tag libs etc properly. For all remaining 9 .tasks file, we did NOT use auto generate. Instead we used standard New -> JSF From Human Task and select one task at a time and follow the steps. These steps are covered in the online documentation. At the end in our BPM App, we have just one UI Project with all the 10 screens.
    3. ALSO, all the 10 screens have some common data. This we put in a reusable JSF Fragment page. And associated a custom Managed Bean for this to set and get values from this fragment and also some Actions for some buttons in the JSF. Then we included this JSF in each taskform jsf file, uisng the include tag. We added this include tag, somewhere in the top. So all screens share common jsf fragment page.
    4. We can refine the above stuff further. As per above, we still have 10 JSF screens for each one of the 10 .tasks. Ofcourse all these 10 jsf have same common jsf fragment. BUT instead of 10 individual jsf screens, we can have only ONE Jsf screen also. Refer online docs for the details. The challenging part is, since we have only one jsf, there may be some bussiness stuff, validatoin stuff to take care of in custom ValidationCallback Handler classes. Say for Task1, we had to show some buttons, but NOT for Task2. So we had to handle this logic. Also in validation call back, we can always get each Tasks, title also. So we can workaround this issue also. We are in the process of doing this right now. But first 3, we already did and they are working fine.
    My personal suggestion is first go with single jsf fragment and include in all tasks jsp files. Any changes to common elements need to make only in one place i.e fragment page.
    Thanks

  • How to define the default activity for an unbounded task flow?

    In the new "Fusion Developer’s Guide for Oracle Application Development Framework 11g Release 1" documentation at the bottom of page 14-3 it states "An unbounded task flow .... contains a default activity, an activity designated as the first to run in the unbounded task flow, because an unbounded task flow does not have a single point of entry."
    What I can't find is how to define the default activity in an unbounded task flow and where this is recorded? Can we set this via the task flow diagrammer, and which configuration file is it stored?
    I note the first time I run the application with an unbounded task flow a dialog asks me which of the activities in the adfc-config.xml file to make the default, but I can't find where this is recorded.
    Anybody have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    CM.

    Chris,
    In fact this information is nothing that belongs into the taskflow meta data because unbounded taskflow have more than one entry point and there is no notion of default. Its a tools setting (JDeveloper) we had before

  • Can not commit when using region in bounded task flow

    Hi All
    I am using Jdeveloper 11g R2 (11.1.2.3) & Weblogic 10.3.5.0
    I have 2 bounded task flow in my application (A and B)
    Each contain a fragment with few tabs (using af:panelTabbed)
    I have another common functionality in this 2 bounded task flows
    So I create another bounded task flow and add it as a region in tabs in task flows A and B
    But when I am going to the common tab and insert record and commit using task flow commit it is not commit records in database
    Is something wrong ? Any ideas how I can fix it?
    Regards
    Mohsen

    Hi Frank
    I am using below code for commit (from TaskFlowUtils class)
    public void commitTaskFlow() {
    getDataControlFrame().commit();
    public DataControlFrame getDataControlFrame() {
    BindingContext bindingContext = oracle.adf.controller.binding.BindingUtils.getBindingContext();
    String dataControlFrameName = bindingContext.getCurrentDataControlFrame();
    DataControlFrame dataControlFrame = bindingContext.findDataControlFrame(dataControlFrameName);
    return dataControlFrame;
    Your comment was too helpful , I change data control scope to shared and it is working now
    One more related question:
    Is adding bounded task flow into another fragment as region an advised approach?
    Thanks a lot

  • 11gR2 error: call a bounded task flow with method call as default activity

    hi all,
    We migrated several applications to the JDev 11g R2.
    There are 2 applications that contain a bounded task flow where we define Method Call as default activity.

    Thanks for you help

    Hi,
    Have a look at the task flow properties, in PatchSet1, a new feature "invokeURLAllowed" is added that prevents bounded task flows from being URL accessible for security reasons. You can swithc this feature on and off
    Frank
    Ps.: I though that bounded task flows that you call from a URL generally needed to have a viewActivity as the default activity

  • How can I create a loopback activity

    Hello All.
    How can I create a loopback process in BPEL? For example: I have a flow that has a human task that submits a proposal. After
    this, Theres is another human task that will review this proposal with Approve or Reject options. If it is approved, then the flow goes on. If it is rejected, then the flow has to go back to the proposal subimission process. You can see an image (the first image in the URL) that ilustrates this flow here: http://onbpms.com/2007/02/08/looping-backward/. The rest of the page is not important. Just look at the image to understand my problem. How can implement such loop in BPEL?
    I´m using JDeveloper Studio Edition 10.1.3.2.0.4066 and SOA Suite 10.1.3.1.0
    Thanks for any help,
    Glauco

    Yes, I have. This is the instructions that oracle gave me.
    There are two approaches:
    1) use WHILE bpel activity.
    a) Have a variable initially set to N, and loop it till it becomes Y.
    b) Inside the loop, you can have the assign activity, and human task call.
    c) If the humantask result is Reject,continue the loop again
    d) Else, set the variable as Y and end the loop
    2) Use scope
    For loopback process you can place the process in a scope and make use
    of the replay scope method to repeat the scope.
    a).Place the assign and UserTask in a single scope.
    b) For the Reject condition in the swtich activity , place a throw
    activity that throws a remoteFault.
    c). Put a catch around the scope to handle the fault thrown by the Reject condition.
    d). In this catch place a throw activity, with local part = replay. Choose the remoteFault fault and change de local part to replay
    e). This would replay the whole scope when the reject condition is meet.
    Both approaches work just fine.

    Yes, you can either manage OUs separately or create them during user provisioning, given you set Hierarchical Provisioning up and running.
    That's almost OOTB behavior of AD MA

  • How can I create a manual activity that waits a specific number of seconds

    Hi
    I need to create a manual activity that waits a specific number of seconds. Is there a way to do that?
    Regards

    If you have a manual activity (Human Task) and you would like to define a task deadline in order to continue the process you can define it in the task definition as desribed here: Configuring Human Tasks - 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.6.1)
    But if you just like to stop the process without manual activities involved you can ideed use the Timer Catch Event. See section "6.8.2 Introduction to the Timer Catch Event" in Modeling Business Processes with Oracle BPM for further details.
