Can't define testing server

I want to put dynamic content on my site. I am on the step where you add a testing server but when I do that they checkmark doesn't appear. It's like it's not recognizing it. I've done this a million times and can't figure out why it's not working for this site! I'm very frustrated.
Info I'm using:
Server model: ASP VBscript
Access: Local/Network
Server folder: I selected the folder on our server.
This always works. Today it's not and I'm totally stumped!

Everything is fine with the server. It has been set up to run ASP and PHP. I've used it in the past, recently actually and it worked just fine. But now it won't let me define the testing server for some reason. Or at least it won't recognize that I have so I can connect to the database.

I just upgraded from DWCS3 to DWCS5.5 and am trying to get php (dynamically related) files working. Very frustrating.
I have set up everything according to the tutorial at http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/setup_testing_server.html Nothing seems to work. And no one seems to currently be answering posts...so I apologize if this is a faux pas, but I'm starting a new thread in hopes that I and others can get some help.
    Here's what I have:
WAMP server: : C:\TNG813onMowesII\www\ (Mowes Portable II is  software that enables you to quickly set up a WAMP (Windows, Apache, MySQL and PHP) system on any Windows system.))

I also have an idnetical image at D:/MyWebs/public_html/ for syncing with my remote website - http:larryvoyer.com
My "Design", "Split", "Live View" and "Inspect" buttons are greyed out.
Again, I apologize if I messed things up bu opening a thread on a prvious subject

There are many ways to test and analyze DNA, but there are two particular kinds of DNA testing that are especially useful in genealogy:  Y-chromosome DNA (Y-DNA) testing and mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) testing.  The genealogical usefulness of these two DNA tests is based on two aspects of human inheritance:
       <ol>
<li>  that the Y chromosome is passed on only by the father</li>
<li>  that mitochondria are passed on only by the mother</li>

    John,
    I misundrstood you response
I entered http://localhost in my browser and recieved the following page:
Asd you can see everything is working. I thought that when you called local host, it went to the www/ directory where I have my sites
I still don't see a problem with my settings
    Server Folder: C:\TNG813onMowesII\www\
    Web URL: http://localhost/genealogy/
I hate it when the tool is more trouble than the work.

  • Can't define CF server in Builder

    On 64-bit Windows Vista machine
    CF 9 wouldn't install 64-bit version - threw Windows 216 error
Installed CF 9 32-bit over typical IIS 7 server
127.0.0.1 and localhost both serve  from c:\inetpub\wwwroot
CF templates in iis web sites execute normally
Installed Coldfusion Builder as stand alone
Going through Builder's Server Wizard, I can't find documentation to help me complete the process. Most help will provide specific examples for each field or check box, but they don't explain the why. So, when a problem arises, there is no explanatory information for troubleshooting.
    Server settings under Server Setup:
    Server Name: localhost
    Application Server: Jrun
    Host Name: localhost
    "Is Local
    WebServer Port: 8500
    RDS User Name: admin
RDS PW: as entered during CF9 install
    Server Home: C:\Coldfusion9
    Document Root: C:\Coldfusion9\wwwroot
    Version: 9.0.x
In the Servers tab within Builder, my localhost server appears with status of "Stopped"
When I right-click and select "Start Server" I get an error - "'Starting localhost' has encountered a problem.  Ensure that the server is not already running, or another application is not using the WebServer port."
This same problem occurs, no matter what I name the server, e.g., "myserver" instead of "localhost".
When I view http://localhost/, the files under c:\inetpub\wwwroot are displayed.
Any direction would be greatly appreciated. Adobe's web server wizard assumes knowledge I don't have about the contents of the various fields and their interactions.
    Thanks!

    Sagar,
Thanks for your response. The path is c:\inetpub\wwwroot\CFIDE/Administrator
Following  your instruction: "If the same is under \inetpub\webroot\ then please  specify the webserver port as 80."  I got a server running under  c:\ColdFusion9\wwwroot\. Both localhost/ and 127.0.0.1/ serve files from  this folder.
My CF Administrator is still located at  http://127.0.0.1/CFIDE/administrator/index.cfm. The \CFIDE folder is  under inetpub\wwwroot.
    So far, so good.
ColdFusion  will serve CFM templates from c:\ColdFusion9\wwwroot\, but if I open  one of these files using Builder, it won't display under the browser  preview - it's simply white. I'm having difficulty understanding how to  create projects and to create or edit anything.
I have prior experience, from back in the version 4 and 5 days. I loved Studio and Homesite, so I'm not totally unfamiliar.
Now  that you've helped me get a server set up under Builder, I'm going to  go to some help I found in Ben Forta's blog on creating projects and  configuration.
If anyone has any quick advice, I would  certainly appreciate. While I'd love to be able to switch among several  projects in different subfolders, I'll settle for just one at this  point.
    Thanks!

  • How to setup the local testing server ??

hello, what do I need to install first before I can setup the
testing server in dreamweaver 8? I have download apache2 triad,

How do I configure these on the testing server setup

I have never heard of apache2triad, but I've just had a look
    at the
apache2triad site, which says: "It is recommended that only
    experienced
users, with a vast knowledge of how networks, and its
    components (Apache
Web Server, ect.) should install this software. It IS NOT
    your average
software; a lot of time, patience and effort are required to
    maintain
    such a server."
Setting up a local testing server is not difficult, but it
    does require
a basic understanding of how a server-side language like PHP
    works.
As I said before, you must always store your files in the web
    server
document root. According to the apache2triad documentation,
    this is C:
\apache2triad\htdocs\. Unless you store your files there, or
    in a
subfolder of htdocs, nothing will work.

  • ANN: Video tutorial for defining a PHP local testing server on Windows

I have created a video tutorial to show how to define a PHP
    local
testing server on Windows. It's just under 8 and a half
    minutes, and can
    be found here:
    http://experts.na3.acrobat.com/phplocalsitewin/
I made it for Windows only to avoid confusing viewers with
    too many
bewildering choices. I'll try to make a Mac version in the
    not too
distant future, but don't yet have video capture software for
    a Mac.

I still have problems with getting my website online. I have defined my server. Then I did the test and there was a connection via FTP. I put my files on the external server and there is a connection with the external server. But when I check to see my website online (with Firefox, Explorer, Chrome browser) I always get the message 'Forbidden, You don't have permission to access / on this server.' Can somebody help me please? I have to get my website online..Thank you!

    Hello Els,
it's well known, that in all these cases you describe I'm not a friend of a detailed Troubleshooting (I see Nancy#s smile already).
To be able to be independent in all this things It is one of the reasons why I prefer an external FTP program. The difficulties with which you have to fight encourage me in this opinion, not least because we always search for experts, we don't charge a "jack of all trades".
To manage several websites or to upload my files and sometimes for the opposite way, for a necessary download from my server or to use a "a site-wide synch", I'm using FileZilla. It simply looks easier for me to keep track of all operations precisely and generate or reflect easily the desired tree structure.
Above all, FileZilla has a feature (translation from my German FileZilla) called "compare file list". Here it's possible to use file size or modification time as a criterion. There is also the possibility to "hide identical files", so that only these files which you want to redact remain visible.
And even if it means you have to install a new program, I am convinced that there is an advantage. Here is the link to get it and where you can read informations about how it works:
    http://filezilla-project.org/ and http://wiki.filezilla-project.org/Tutorial#Using_the_site_manager
Mac: Mac OS X (Use: Show additional download options)
    http://filezilla-project.org/download.php
Of course, you also need all the access data to reach your server and for MIME issues, you should contact your web host/provider.
    Good luck!

    P.S.
Since I use two screens, the whole thing became even more comfortable.

  • Can't create bin automatically in the testing server

    Dear Gurus,
    I am having this problem:
In the server for configuration, I create new warehouse and do all the settings, then when I run SPRO > IMG or use t-code LS10, I can test to create storage bins automatically successfully.
However, in the server for testing, after transporting all the settings for new warehouse, I use LS10 to create storage bins (since we can't transport master data), but the system (in testing server) says that I am not allowed to make (configuration) modification. The button "Create Bins" therefore gray out.
    Question:
LS10 supposed to be a transaction to create master data. How come the testing server treat it as a configuration and not allow me to create bins automatically? Is this the error from MM side or Basis side (my profile is SAP_ALL)?
We don't want to create manually since there are  thousands of bins, also we don't want to create an excel file and upload using LSMW because we already have formula and just want to create bins automatically.
    Please advise. Thanks.
    Trang

    Hi
The transaction form createing the template of the bins and subsequently creating the bins is config.
I get round this by doing a recording of LS01N in LSMW and then  using this to create my bins in ALL clienst by exporting and importing my LSMW
This also means that I can create any bins with any numbering sequece in one spreadsheet and load them all in one
In one of my recent projects I used this method to create 80,000+ bins in approx 30 minutes
Of course you need to know how to create the LSMW but a developer may be able to help you as it is too long to explain in this forum
    I hope that this helps

  • Can we define users for both studio and integrator server

Can someone please let me know how can we define users for both studio and integrator server so that the user can be used to view UI page but not modify it.I want to define user in studio which will access the Page but not modify it. And the user in integrator server should be able to view scheduled jobs.
    Thanks a lot.
    Regards,
    Amrit

    Amrit,
Both Studio and Integrator Server support LDAP. See http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E35976_01/studio.240/eid_studio_users/toc.htm#Integrating%20with%20an%20LDAP%20System%20to%20Manage%20Users for details about implementing LDAP in Studio. For Integrator Server, see "LDAP Authentication", p. 38 (document pagination; p. 44 pdf file pagination) in the Integrator Server Guide (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E35976_01/integrator.240/DataIntegratorServer.pdf).

  • Can dw cs3 connect directly to sql server database without a testing server?

I'm new to dreamweaver but have used script tools that link
directly to my sql server database.
Not in dw, so far. As of this early stage, I don't have or
want to use a web server, and it's blocking me
without one. I just want to prototype without a testing
server, directly to my database. And while I'll try php
later, I didn't want to have to get into it or cold fusion,
    etc. right away.
Can dw connect directly to sql server database without a
    testing server?
I'm running XP sp 3 at this point, and don't see IIS. There's
    probably some security issues
I'll have to tangle with. The goal is for my website to end
up on the company intRAnet, not the www.
fwiw, I can Build in Data Link Properties and get a
successful test to my sql server database via
Microsoft Data Link, but once I go back and try the test in
OLE DB Connection it balks on the testing server,
as I don't have one locally or otherwise. Isn't there a way
to link to db without a testing server?
    Thanks for any insights.

Yes, you can. However, Dreamweaver's PHP server behaviors
    work only with
MySQL. To connect to any other database, you need to hand
    code
    everything yourself.

  • Can I define a SQL Server View to Oracle data?

So I have a subset of data whose source of truth resides in an Oracle Database. Can I define a SQL Server View to retrieve this subset of data and make it available on the SQL Server side for say Reporting and SSRS? I think I also saw where they tend to
prefer User-Defined functions as opposed to a view. If I define the view using an OPENQUERY, I have noticed that it seems to run FOREVER on the SQL Server side and returns pretty timely if I run in Oracle SQL Developer. Is there anything I can tweak to improve
this timeliness or lack there of?
And the whole reason I'd like to create a view of this Oracle data is so that I can take advantage of all the views and functions that we have created on the SQL Server side.
Has anyone gone down this path and can offer some advice and web sites or YouTubes as to the best way to approach this?
Thanks for your review and am hopeful for a reply while I keep Googling this.

There are couple of ways by which you can connect and fetch the data
OPENQUERY - which you are already using [uses linked server] -
    runs on remote server
OPENROWSET - I would like to avoid this because it requires crenditials
OPENDATASET - Similar issue like OPENROWSET
Directly access linked server like LINKEDSERVER.DATABASE.SCHEMA.TABLE -
    runs on your local server
    Now, performance
basically, they have the same performance advantages and disadvantages when connecting to remote server. But you can enhance it by
    Avoiding data conversion
Using procedure on Oracle and then call it from SQL Server (due to compiled plan your result will be faster)
Avoiding dealing with complex data types
If you are dealing with large number of records, try using Oracle connector in SSIS. I found it working much better than SQL sometimes.
    Hope this will help
Glad to help! Please remember to accept the answer if you found it helpful. It will be useful for future readers having same issue.

  • How can we define no of processors for a server

How can we define no of processors for a server.on what factor that No of Processors depends? Is it based on
    1.Application type,
    2.No of transaction perday,
    3.No Of users connected simulatneoulsy

You can also add the quality of the application to your list. A poorly writtern application cangobble up resources faster than you can spend.
Also, the size of the database. Bigger size means increased memory, disk, and CPU.

  • Can't link to DB on Testing Server

I am trying to develop dynamic pages including a login page,
but have contunual problems trying to test my setup on my local
testing server. I am using MS Access, Vista, IIS7 and .asp pages
When I test using the local DSN the connection is fine and
the tables are accessible. If I try to test using DSN on the
testing server I get the following error message.
[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]Disk or network
    error
    [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager]Driver's SQLSetConnnectAttr
    failed
I think the problem may have something to do with security
access settings, but am totally lost as to what the solution might
    be.

  • Tiger as a testing server? Can't find all the peices...

I am looking all over for a 1,2,3 of how to set up Tiger as a testing server. I find bits and peices - but don't understand how to get them all to fit together.
I want to be able to test dynamic websites authored in Dreamweaver on my G5.
I know I need Apache, PHP, and MySQL - but can't find a recent tutorial that tells how to install them all.
    Really need the help. Please...
    Thanks!

Apache and PHP are already installed on all Mac OS X machines BUT php is disabled in your httpd.conf file. If you know how to enable it go ahead, just oncommend the php lines. If not here is a link: http://www.oreillynet.com/pub/a/mac/2002/01/04/apachemacosxpt3.html
MySQL is only included in Mac OS X server, but there is a great installer located here: http://www.entropy.ch/software/MacOSx/mysql/
Or if you want to get your hands dirty and install it yourself you can follow the apple documentation: http://developer.apple.com/internet/opensource/osdb.html

  • I can not configure a test server in DreamWewaver CS6.

My problem is this: I am creating a website in wich the vast majority of pages and files that form are made in PHP. When I configure a test server on my computer (for the moment can not be anywhere else), to indicate the URL where I put the folder where the files are hosted on my site, since that folder is in my computer, but whatever I do always modified and changed to http://misitio (where misisitio is the name of my website). How can I do to make that no happen?

I set up my test server as you have said, even indicating the full path to the folder containing the files of my website, but nothing, I still have the same problem. It occurred to me that you could fix also indicating the Internet port, so it is something like http://localhost:8080/misitio, so I'll try and then comment on how it went.

    Hi,
Yes you can, but you should be aware of the limitations of MS SQL Express version.
    1. 1GB RAM
    2. 10 GB database size per database excluding log file (SQL 2008 R2 and above)
3.Job Scheduling service is not available with SQL Server Express.
4.Data import and export feature is not available with SQL Server Express.
    5.Limitation on number of CPU
Refer following article for features supported by different editions of MS SQL Server.
